[0002] An individual may have difficulty controlling urination and / or may have limited or impaired mobility such that typical urination processes are challenging or impossible. Additionally, urine collection from the individual may be needed for monitoring purposes or clinical testing. Bed pans may be used to address some of these circumstances. However, bed pans may be prone to discomfort, spills, and other hygiene issues and use of a bed pan does not allow the user to be ambulatory. As such, there is a need for a urine collection that allows the user to void urine during normal daily activity and in a public setting.

A urine collection container, comprising: a front panel sealably coupled with a back panel along a perimeter edge of the container defining a urine compartment of the container; a urine inlet defining a flow path for urine to enter the urine compartment; a urine outlet defining a flow path for urine to exit the urine compartment; and one or more spacers disposed between the front panel and the back panel, the one or more spacers configured to maintain an internal flow path of the urine compartment from the urine inlet toward the urine outlet when a vacuum is present within the container.

2. The urine collection container according to claim 1, wherein the one or more spacers are configured to maintain an air space within the urine compartment between the front panel and the back panel, the air space configured to receive the urine therein.

3. The urine collection container according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the one or more spacers are attached to at least one of the front panel or the back panel.

4. The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein each of the one or more spacers includes a protrusion extending inward away from an inside surface of the one of the front panel or the back panel.

5. The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the one or more spacers are attached to both the front panel and the back panel so as to limit a separation distance between the front panel and the back panel.

6. The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising a frame structure extending along the perimeter edge, the frame structure configured to maintain a shape of the container during use.

7. The urine collection container according to claim 6, wherein the frame structure is attached to at least one of the front panel and the back panel.Docket No. 101674.0513PCT8. The urine collection container according to claim 6, wherein the frame structure includes a frame tube extending along the perimeter edge, the frame tube attached to at least one of the front panel and the back panel.

9. The urine collection container according to claim 6, wherein the frame structure includes a perimeter wall extending along the perimeter edge, the perimeter wall coupled between the front panel and the back panel.

The urine collection container according to claim 6, further comprising: a top portion; a bottom portion; and a central portion disposed between the top portion and the bottom portion, the central portion including the urine compartment, wherein: an upper horizontal divider disposed between the front panel and the back panel, the upper horizontal divider fluidly isolating that the central portion from the top portion, and a lower horizontal divider disposed between the front panel and the back panel, the lower horizontal divider fluidly isolating that the central portion from the bottom portion.

11. The urine collection container according to claim 10, wherein each of the top portion and a bottom portion includes an attachment mechanism configured to enable attachment of the container to a user.

The urine collection container according to claim 10 or claim 11, further comprising a vertical divider (i) disposed between the front panel and the back panel and (ii) extending between the upper horizontal divider and the lower horizontal divider, the vertical divider separating the urine compartment into a first urine compartment and a second urine compartment.

The urine collection container according to claim 12, wherein the vertical divider is attached to the front panel and the back panel so as to limit a separation distance between the front panel and the back panel along the vertical divider.Docket No. 101674.0513PCT14. The urine collection container according to claim 12, wherein the frame structure defines the upper horizontal divider, the lower horizontal divider, and the vertical divider.

15. The urine collection container according to any of claims 12-14, wherein the urine inlet includes a bifurcation defining a first inlet leg in fluid communication with the first urine compartment and a second inlet leg in fluid communication with the second urine compartment.

16. The urine collection container according to any of claims 12-14, wherein the urine outlet includes a bifurcation defining a first outlet leg in fluid communication with the first urine compartment and a second outlet leg in fluid communication with the second urine compartment.

The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising an outlet valve disposed in line with the urine outlet, the outlet valve configured to selectively transition between (i) a closed state preventing urine from flowing through the urine outlet, and (ii) an open state allowing urine to flow through the urine outlet.

18. The urine collection container according to claim 17, wherein the outlet valve biased toward the closed state such that the outlet valve is disposed in the closed state in the absence a deliberate action by a user.

19. The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising an inflation port fluid coupled with the urine compartment, the inflation port configured to couple with an air-flow source such that the air-flow source can inflate the urine compartment.

The urine collection container according to claim 19, wherein the inflation port includes a first one-way valve disposed in line therewith, the first one-way valve configured to: allow fluid to enter the urine compartment through the inflation port, and prevent fluid from exiting the urine compartment through the inflation port.Docket No. 101674.0513PCT21. The urine collection container according to any of the preceding claims, wherein: the urine inlet includes an inlet tube sandwiched between the front panel and the back panel, the inlet tube extending between the urine compartment and an exterior of the container, and the urine outlet includes an outlet tube sandwiched between the front panel and the back panel, the outlet tube extending between the urine compartment and an exterior of the container.

22. The urine collection container according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising a vacuum port fluid coupled with the urine compartment, the vacuum port coupleable with a vacuum source such that the vacuum source can establish a vacuum with the urine compartment.

23. The urine collection container according to claim 22, wherein the vacuum port includes a filter disposed in line therewith, the filter configured to prevent contamination of the urine compartment via the vacuum port.

24. The urine collection container according to claim 22 or claim 23, wherein the vacuum port includes a second one-way valve disposed in line therewith, the second one-way valve configured to: allow fluid to exit the urine compartment through the vacuum port, and prevent fluid from entering the urine compartment through the vacuum port.

25. A urine collection assembly, comprising: the urine collection container according to any of claims 1-24; and a vacuum chamber assembly, comprising: a vacuum chamber configured to: receive urine therein via a chamber inlet port disposed at a top of the vacuum chamber, and drain urine therefrom via a chamber outlet port disposed at a bottom of the vacuum chamber, the chamber outlet port fluidly coupled with the inlet port of the urine collection container; andDocket No. 101674.0513PCT a chamber vacuum port fluidly coupled with the vacuum chamber at the top of the vacuum chamber, the chamber vacuum port configured to fluidly couple with a vacuum source.

26. The urine collection assembly according to claim 25, further comprising a chamber one-way valve disposed in line with the chamber outlet port, the chamber one-way valve configured to: allow urine flow from the vacuum chamber toward the urine collection container, and prevent fluid flow from the urine collection container toward the vacuum chamber.

27. The urine collection assembly according to claim 25 or claim 26, further comprising a chamber filter disposed in line with the chamber vacuum port, the chamber filter configured to prevent contamination of the vacuum chamber via the chamber vacuum port.

28. A method of collecting urine from a patient, comprising: attaching a urine collection container to a patient; coupling the urine collection container to an external urinary catheter operatively coupled with the patient to establish a urine flow path from the patient to the urine collection container; collecting urine flowing along the external urinary catheter within a urine compartment of the urine collection container; and establishing a vacuum with the urine compartment to urge the urine to flow along the along the external urinary catheter and into the urine compartment, wherein the urine collection container includes a front panel and back panel defining the urine compartment and one or more spacers disposed between a front panel and a back panel prevents collapsing of the urine compartment when the vacuum is established.

29. The method of claim 28, further comprising transitioning an output valve of the urine collection container from a closed state to open state to drain urine from the urine compartment.
