Abstract

The ammonia production system comprises a syngas compressor upstream from the ammonia synthesis module includes an ammonia reactor. The ammonia reactor is fluidly coupled to the chiller which is in fluid communication with a carbon dioxide scrubber. The scrubber removes unreacted syngas. The unreacted syngas is recycled through a IGV controlled recycle compressor using a fixed speed driver. The delivery side of the recycle compressor is in fluid communication with the ammonia reactor. A portion of the recycle stream is delivery through an expander to the syngas make up compressor.
