Method and system for assessing gut microbiome health status and microbiome age

Abstract

The disclosure provides a computer-implemented method and system for detecting microbiome age of a subject. The method comprises obtaining a microbiota species profile from a fecal sample of the subject; predicting a gut microbiome and thus, gut health status as a value on a scale from diseased microbiome to healthy microbiome using a first machine learning model; in case the gut microbiome health status value is above a threshold, further predicting a microbiome age of the subject's gut microbiome using a second machine learning model; and providing a personalized report based on the gut microbiome health status value and, in case the gut microbiome health status value is above the threshold, a comparison between the microbiome age and the subject's chronological age.
