Method for selectively combining multiple membranes for assembly into test strips

A method for selectively combining multiple membranes for assembly into test strips (such as visual blood glucose test strips with side-by-side membranes). The method includes first measuring a plurality of color parameters (e.g., L*, a* and b*color parameters) associated with membrane samples from at least two membrane lots. Next, response characteristics (e.g., blood glucose response levels) are simulated for a speculative test strip that includes, for purposes of the simulation, combined multiple membranes tentatively selected from the at least two membrane lots. The simulated response characteristics are based on the measured plurality of color parameters of the tentative selection of combined multiple membranes. Optionally, the simulated response characteristics can also be based on simulated color parameters of the tentative selection of combined multiple membranes. Subsequently, assembly of the at least two membrane lots into a test strip with combined membranes is contingent on acceptable simulated response characteristics. Any suitable color parameters can be employed. The method can be used to selectively combine two or more membranes based on any number of color parameters. The assembled test strips can be used to measure glucose, cholesterol, proteins, ketones, phenylalanine or enzymes in blood, urine, saliva or other biological fluid, as well as sample fluid characteristics (e.g., pH and alkalinity).

Real-time decoder for scan test patterns

A method and apparatus for improving the efficiency of scan testing of integrated circuits is described. This efficiency is achieved by reducing the amount of required test stimulus source data and by increasing the effective bandwidth of the scan-load operation. The reduced test data volume and corresponding test time are achieved by integrating a real-time test data decoder or logic network into each integrated circuit chip. The apparatus, servicing a plurality of internal scan chains wherein the number of said internal scan chains exceeds the number of primary inputs available for loading data into the scan chains, includes: a) logic network positioned between the primary inputs and the inputs of the scan chains, the logic network expanding input data words having a width corresponding to the number of the primary inputs, and converting the input data words into expanded output data words having a width that corresponds to the number of the internal scan chains; and b) coupled to the internal scan chains, registers loaded with bit values provided by the expanded output data words while data previously loaded into the scan chains shifts forward within the scan chains by one bit position at a time; wherein a first plurality of the input data words supplied to the primary inputs produce a second plurality of expanded data words that are loaded into the internal scan chains to achieve an improved test coverage.

Method and system of managing software conflicts in computer system that receive, processing change information to determine which files and shared resources conflict with one another

Method and system for managing software conflicts and a computer-readable storage medium having a program for executing the method is provided wherein a database of interrelated tables is utilized. The invention may be used to manage file and registry conflicts on Windows desk tops. The invention determines information about changes made by applications during their installation into a computer system, one application at a time. Those changes are then compared to determine which files and other shared resources conflict with one another. This conflict information is then used to attempt to resolve software conflicts. Conflicts can be identified at many different levels: files, registries, shortcuts, ODBC drivers, ODBC data sources, service, device, components, autoexec.bat, config.sys, INI changes, and paths. This invention stores all information needed to recreate the installation in the database itself. Thus, when changes (i.e. when conflicts between multiple applications are being resolved) are made to the database, a needed installer for that application can be generated. The database categorizes all file types and breaks the information down into manageable tables of information. These tables relate to each other in an intricate web that allows a thorough illustration of files.

Reduced complexity correlation filters

A methodology is described to reduce the complexity of filters for face recognition by reducing the memory requirement to, for example, 2 bits / pixel in the frequency domain. Reduced-complexity correlations are achieved by having quantized MACE, UMACE, OTSDF, UOTSDF, MACH, and other filters, in conjunction with a quantized Fourier transform of the input image. This reduces complexity in comparison to the advanced correlation filters using full-phase correlation. However, the verification performance of the reduced complexity filters is comparable to that of full-complexity filters. A special case of using 4-phases to represent both the filter and training / test images in the Fourier domain leads to further reductions in the computational formulations. This also enables the storage and synthesis of filters in limited-memory and limited-computational power platforms such as PDAs, cell phones, etc. An online training algorithm implemented on a face verification system is described for synthesizing correlation filters to handle pose / scale variations. A way to perform efficient face localization is also discussed. Because of the rules governing abstracts, this abstract should not be used to construe the claims.

Modularizing and aspectizing graphical user interface directed test scripts

ActiveUS20110016453A1Reduction in test programming errorFacilitates efficient modificationError detection/correctionSpecific program execution arrangementsGraphicsTest script
A test structure for testing graphical user interface applications (GAPs) modularizes test scripts by separating statements that define GAP test logic from statements that navigate to GAP objects. Composition rules weave the statements together to generate the test scripts that are executed to test the GAP. Because the test structure is modular, test logic can be reused across different GAPs and different versions of the same GAP. Reusing test logic is not only an efficient practice from a test engineer's point of view, but also leads to a reduction in test programming errors. The modular test structure also facilitates the efficient modification of test scripts to account for modifications in the underlying GAPs, greatly reducing the time, cost, and resource expenditures needed to arrive at updated test scripts.
