Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a drawer with a front panel, a back panel and two side frames between the front panel and the back panel, on which a bottom is held, wherein at least one side frame has an inner wall and an outer wall, each of which protrudes downwards from the bottom.

[0002] In WO 2019 / 118997 A1, a double-walled drawer side panel is disclosed in which a rounded edge is provided on one of the outer walls. This rounded edge is intended to prevent damage to the surface when a drawer with such a side panel is placed on a surface. When a loaded drawer is placed on a surface, comparatively high forces act on the outer wall with the rounded edge. This can lead to undesirable deformation or damage of the outer wall, as it is made of only a thin material and the weight forces act on the outer wall with a large lever arm.

[0003] It is therefore an object of the present invention to create a drawer in which protection against damage to a support is possible even with high weight loads.

[0004] This problem is solved with a drawer having the features of claim 1.

[0005] The drawer according to the invention comprises a front panel, a back panel, and two side panels between the front panel and back panel, to which a base is attached. At least one side panel has an inner wall and an outer wall, each projecting downwards from the base. In a rear region of the drawer, a portion of the inner wall projects beyond the outer wall when the base is horizontally oriented, and a rear portion at the end of the inner wall has a rounded support contour. The rounded support contour forms a section that extends around at least one axis, the axis being arranged substantially perpendicular to an inner surface of the inner wall of the drawer. This results in the drawer being supported inwards by the inner wall, offset from the outer wall, so that the weight loads of the drawer can be transferred further inwards at the rounded support contour. This allows comparatively high forces to be absorbed, with the floor preferably resting directly on the inner wall at a support section, thus enabling forces to be transferred from the rounded support contour via the section of the inner wall located beneath the floor to the floor itself. The axis of the receiving contour need not be the same for all sections of the receiving contour, but can be positioned differently depending on the section.

[0006] When the drawer front is lifted, it preferably rolls along the support contour at the rear end of the side frame. A support contour is preferably arranged on the inner wall of each of the opposing side frames, so that when the drawer is lifted, it rolls along the two support contours, which form a pivot axis for the drawer. The support contour serves to support the drawer when it is pivoted from a position with its bottom approximately horizontal to a raised position. The rounded support contour thus prevents damage to the surface it rests on, e.g., a table.

[0007] The outer wall preferably has a recess or a relief contour at its rear lower end. The relief contour can be formed, for example, by a cutout in the area of the rounded support contour. The relief contour can also be, for example, a beveled surface or an arc-shaped contour on the underside of the outer wall to prevent the outer wall from coming into contact with the support surface, even when the drawer is tilted.

[0008] In one variant, the contact surface is formed by an embossing on the inner wall. This embossing can be in the form of a bump or groove, creating a rounded contact surface without sharp edges. Alternatively, in a second variant, the contact surface can also be formed by a rounded edge on the inner wall.

[0009] In another embodiment, the support contour is arranged on a separate support that is attached to the rear of the inner wall. The support preferably rests against the underside of the inner wall, which also forms the support section for the floor. The support is preferably made of plastic and thus forms a softer contact surface for the support contour compared to the inner wall material.

[0010] For stable support of the drawer, the inner wall can have a downward-facing web located under the base, on which a curved section facing the outer wall is formed, forming the bearing contour. A weight load can then be transferred from the base to the curved section via the downward-facing web, resulting in optimal leverage, since the point of force application is located directly at the curved bearing contour.

[0011] The inner wall preferably has a groove into which an edge of the base is inserted. The base can rest against and be supported by a lower groove wall, which forms the bearing section. For a stable design of the side frame, the outer wall can be supported against the inner wall in the base area, for example, by one or more indentations in the inner wall. This allows for better support of shear forces. Preferably, the bearing contour is supported by the web or the lower groove wall on the underside of the base.

[0012] To prevent damage to the contact surface, the contact contour can have a radius between 2 mm and 40 mm, particularly between 4 mm and 30 mm. The inner wall can be made of a metal sheet, although other materials are optional. If a metal sheet is used, it preferably has a thickness between 0.5 mm and 1 mm.

[0013] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to several exemplary embodiments and the accompanying drawings. These show: Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B Two views of a drawer where a rear section is supported on a support surface; Fig. 2 a sectional view through a side frame of the drawer Fig. 1; Fig. 3A and Fig. 3B two views of a modified embodiment; Fig. 4 a perspective view of a side frame of the drawer of a third embodiment; Fig. 5 an exploded view of the side frame of the Fig. 4; Fig. 6 a detailed view of the inner wall of the side frame of the Fig. 4, and Fig. 7A and Fig. 7B a rear view of an interior wall and a separate support surface according to Fig. 4.

[0014] A drawer 1 comprises a front panel 2, a back panel 3, and two side panels 4 between the front panel 2 and the back panel 3. In its assembled position, the drawer 1 is held by a drawer slide on a furniture carcass and can be removed from the drawer slide. The drawer slide can, for example, be designed as an under-mount drawer slide, in which the slide rails are located beneath a base 5 of the drawer 1.

[0015] In order to be able to place the drawer 1 on a support surface 10 before mounting it on the drawer runners or after dismounting it from the drawer runners without scratching or damaging the surface, the drawer 1 has a support contour 43 in the rear area, as shown in Fig. Figure 1B shows that each side frame 4 comprises an outer wall 41 and an inner wall 40, between which a cavity is formed. On the inner wall 40, in the rear area adjacent to the rear wall 3, a support contour 43 is formed on a section 44 that curves towards the outer wall 41. This rounded support contour 43 has no sharp edge and thus prevents damage to the support surface 10 when the drawer 1 is placed on it with the support contour 43 in contact with it. The drawer 1 can roll along the two support contours 43 of the side frames 4 when the front panel 2 is lifted from the support surface 10. The support contour 43 remains the only point of contact between the drawer 1 and the support surface 10 over an angle α, i.e., when the bottom of the drawer 1 is horizontally oriented, up to an angle α of 15° or preferably up to 45°. A section 46 is formed on the support contour, which extends at least around an axis A.

[0016] In Fig. Figure 2 shows a section through a side frame 4. It can be seen that a cavity 6 is formed between the inner wall 40 and the outer wall 41 above a base 5. The inner wall 40 has a groove 7, advantageously U-shaped, to receive an edge of the base 5. In the area of the groove 7, the inner wall 40 is provided with profiles 8, for example, projections, against which the smoothly downward-sloping outer wall 41 is supported. In the upper area of the side frame 4, the inner wall 40 has an edge 15 that engages in a recess of an upper section 14 of the outer wall 41. The inner wall 40 and the outer wall 41 are preferably fixed to each other in the upper area by mechanical locking or clamping devices. Optionally, the inner wall 40 and the outer wall 41 can also be formed integrally with each other.

[0017] The inner wall 40 has a downward-facing web 42 located below the base 5 and extending from the lower groove wall 47. At a lower end of the downward-facing web 42, a section 44 is formed that curves towards the outer wall 41, and on this section the support contour 43 is provided. The support contour 43 is designed here as an embossed feature, for example as a stud or groove, which projects downwards and against which the drawer 1 can be supported on a bearing surface 10. The support contour 43 on the inner wall 40 is positioned lower than the lowest end of the outer wall 41, and the height difference h can be, for example, between 1 mm and 10 mm, in particular between 2 mm and 5 mm.

[0018] In the Fig. 3A and Fig. Figure 3B shows a modified embodiment of a drawer 1 in which a rounded support contour 43' is formed on the inner wall 40 adjacent to the rear wall 3 in order to prevent damage to a support surface 10 when the drawer 1 is disassembled and placed on it. As can be seen from the detail view of the Fig. As can be seen in Figure 3B, the support contour 43' is located on the inner wall 40, which projects downwards beyond the outer wall 41, with a section 46' provided that extends around at least one axis A. The support contour 43' is formed by a rounded cut edge that rests on the support surface 10. The radius of the cut edge can, for example, be in a range between 2 mm and 40 mm. The support contour 43' can also be designed as another arc-shaped contour. The outer wall 41 is provided in its rear area with a recess 50 formed by a relief cut and a corner section located between the rear edge on the rear wall 3 and a lower end of the outer wall 41. This prevents contact between the outer wall 41 and the drawer 1 if it is placed at an angle on the support surface 10, i.e., if the rear end of the side frame 4 is higher than the front end of the side frame 4.Furthermore, the free-cutting prevents the corner section from protruding beyond the radius or the arc-shaped contour of the support contour 43'.

[0019] In Fig. Figure 4 shows the side frame 4 without the other components of the drawer 1. It can be seen that several recesses with claws 9 are provided on the groove 7 of the inner wall 40 on a lower groove wall 47. These claws can be driven into the base 5 to fix it in place. Furthermore, a support element 11 is provided at the rear end of the side frame 4 between the inner wall 40 and the outer wall 41. This support element is fixed in place by a tab 16. A recess is provided in the front area of the side frame 4, behind which a fastening device 12 is mounted for fixing the front panel 2.

[0020] In the exploded view of the Fig. Figure 5 shows that the fastening device 12 is provided for fixing the front panel 2 within the cavity 6 between the inner wall 40 and the outer wall 41. In the rear area, a further fastening device 13 is arranged for fixing the rear panel 3 in the cavity 6 of the side frame 4. The support element 11 is essentially block-shaped and is covered on the top by the lower groove wall of the groove 7, on the inside by the downwardly projecting web 42, and on the outside by the outer wall 41.

[0021] In Fig. Figure 6 shows the inner wall 40 of the side frame 4 in detail, along with the support element 11. On the inner wall 40, a tab 16 is formed on the downward-projecting web 42 in the rear area. This tab is pressed inwards and projects into a receptacle 17 on the support element 11. The support element 11 has a bearing contour 43" with a section 46" that extends around an axis A. The support element 11 is advantageously made of plastic, thus preventing damage to a bearing surface 10. By fixing the support element 11 to the lower groove wall of the groove 7 and to the downward-projecting web 42, forces can be transferred from the bearing contour 43" to the lower groove wall or the downward-projecting web 42 as needed.

[0022] In the Fig. 7A and Fig. 7B is the assembly of the embodiment of the Fig.Figures 4 to 6 show the support element 11 being inserted into an angled recess on the underside of the lower groove wall 47 of the groove 7 and fixed on the inside by a tab on the downwardly projecting web 42. The support element 11 has a bearing contour 43", which can support the drawer.
