AI Technical Summary
Existing water desalination systems using solar energy face challenges in being maintenance-free and self-sustaining without external energy supply, while also requiring a design that allows floating operation.
A sealed, airtight evaporation container with a translucent cover and regulated internal pressure to enhance evaporation, integrated with a floatable design for solar-powered operation, and a self-priming mechanism.
The system achieves efficient water desalination with enhanced evaporation rates and maintenance-free operation, producing drinking water while floating on water surfaces.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Water desalination plants using solar energy are known (DE 30 15 254 C2). Simple seawater desalination plants use solar energy to evaporate the water, then condense it, and collect the condensed water in a collecting trough.
[0002] The invention addresses the problem of designing a solar-powered water desalination system in such a way that the system is buoyant, largely maintenance-free, and can operate over long periods using only solar energy without external power supply. This problem is solved by the features listed in claim 1.
[0003] The evaporation vessel, equipped with a translucent cover, is hermetically sealed from the outside atmosphere. The pressure can be regulated via the vent pipe so that the hermetically sealed seal allows a negative pressure to develop inside, lowering the boiling temperature and increasing the evaporation rate. With appropriate control, the device is self-priming.
[0004] The spherical, hemispherical, or tunnel-shaped water desalinator is designed to be used with an auxiliary ring or as a lifebuoy. The system can be mounted on a boat or on the water surface and produce drinking water.
[0005] An embodiment of the invention is described with reference to Fig. 1 explained.
[0006] The evaporation tank 1 has a trough-shaped form and is enclosed by a spherical, tunnel, or hemispherical cover 2 and a collecting tank 3. The cover 2 is made of a translucent material and is connected to the collecting tank 3 via a tensioning frame 4. A seal 5 is provided between the cover 2 and the collecting tank 3, so that the entire interior of the water desalinator is hermetically sealed from the outside atmosphere. The evaporation tank is stabilized by a centering tube 6 and a stabilizer 7. The salt water inlet 8 is through the centering tube 6, as is the vent 9. Water can be removed via a drinking water pipe 10 in the bottom of the collecting tank. The salt produced during evaporation is deposited in the stabilizer housing 11. To ensure the system's buoyancy, the water desalinator is surrounded by a float 12 and floats on the water surface 13.
