To provide a desalination system and a desalination method capable of efficiently performing desalination without requiring large energy other than light energy with a simple constitution compared with a conventional one.SOLUTION: The desalination system 1 includes a heat generation part 21 containing a photothermal conversion material which generates heat by absorbing near infrared rays S1. When the heating part 21 is irradiated with light S including at least near-infrared rays S1, the heating part 21 absorbs the near-infrared rays S1 to generate heat by photothermal conversion, the raw water 2 is heated by using the generated heat to evaporate water contained in the raw water 2, and the evaporated water 3 is condensed and recovered. A method for preparing a programmable composite carbon-based evaporator for water desalination

This invention belongs to the field of photo-evaporation for water desalination, specifically relating to a programmable composite carbon-based evaporator (Janus-Fe3O4-CPS) and its preparation method. It utilizes a woven, natural, flexible *Ophiopogon japonicus* as the water transport substrate, combined with Fe3O4 as the photothermal conversion layer. The naturally hierarchical porous structure within the *Ophiopogon japonicus*-derived carbon enables rapid water transport through strong capillary action, promoting salt cycling and inhibiting crystallization. Furthermore, the metal-organic coordination bonds formed between Fe3O4 and the conjugated nitrogen structure of the plant-derived carbon enhance the local surface plasmon resonance effect. The hydrophobic properties of the upper surface and the hydrophilic properties of the lower surface of the photo-evaporator together constitute a salt-resistant Janus structure. Based on this, the applicant has designed various evaporators with good performance using porous carbon derived from *Ophiopogon japonicus*, demonstrating excellent performance.
