The system uses a multi-module approach to controlled synthesis of magnetic nanocomposites. The invention comprises five important operating modules. The first synthesis module uses a modified Hummer technique to produce graphene oxide from pencil lead mine powder by controlled acid treatment. The first synthesis module operates under precise temperature conditions and uses an ice bath during the initial mixing followed by a controlled temperature increase. The second module converts the graphene oxide into reduced graphene oxide using ascorbic acid and ammonia solution at 65° C., while the third module generates magnetic graphene oxide by a co-precipitation method using iron(II) and iron(III) chlorides. The nucleating unit operates in a nitrogen environment to produce the magnetic core by combining iron(II) chloride tetrahydrate and iron(III) chloride hexahydrate solutions with the reduced graphene oxide. The shell integrator then integrates magnetic graphene oxide around this core to form the final core-shell structure that is magnetically separated from the reaction mixture. The system includes comprehensive monitoring and control mechanisms, including temperature control, pH control and capabilities for real-time adjustment of the process parameters. It also contains characterization modules for quality assurance by various analytical techniques, including spectroscopy, microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. The waste management functions of the invention ensure environmental safety by properly handling waste acids, ammonia solutions and organic solvents and make it a complete and self-contained system for nanocomposite synthesis. This innovative system produces magnetic nanocomposites with improved tyrosinase inhibitor properties and offers potential applications in both cosmetic formulations and food preservation while minimizing the side effects commonly associated with conventional tyrosinase inhibitors.A system for the synthesis of graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, magnetic graphene oxide and magnetic core-shell nanocomposites has been developed. The system includes a plurality of synthesis modules, each configured for specific transformations in the synthesis process. The system comprises a first synthesis module configured for the production of graphene oxide. Pencil lead powder is finely ground and subjected to acid treatment with sulfuric acid in an ice bath. The mixture is continuously stirred for one hour, after which potassium permanganate is added while the temperature is kept below 15°C. The temperature is then raised to 35° C. and stirring is continued for six hours until the greenish solution changes to a tan paste. The system allows for the controlled addition of water, thereby raising the temperature to 80°C and causing a color change to reddish brown. After two more hours of stirring, hydrogen peroxide is added to terminate the reaction, resulting in a light yellow solution indicative of the formation of graphite oxide. The system comprises a peeling step by means of ultrasonic treatment for 90 minutes, as a result of which graphene oxide layers are formed. The solution is centrifuged, followed by cleaning and neutralization with deionized water. Subsequently, the graphene oxide layers are dried at 80° C. for 24 hours and crushed to obtain pulverized graphene oxide. The system also integrates a second synthesis module configured to reduce graphene oxide to form reduced graphene oxide. The graphene oxide is dispersed in water and subjected to sonication for two hours. Ascorbic acid is added with constant stirring, followed by alkalinization with ammonia solution. The system is further stirred at 65°C for one hour, resulting in the formation of black precipitates indicative of reduced graphene oxide. The resulting material is centrifuged, washed with deionized water, and dried at 80°C to obtain a black fine powder of reduced graphene oxide. In addition, the system includes a third synthesis module for preparing magnetic graphene oxide by a co-precipitation mechanism. Graphene oxide is dispersed in water and subjected to ultrasonic treatment. A mixed solution of iron(II) chloride and iron(III) chloride is prepared separately and combined with the graphene oxide dispersion. The system then introduces ammonia solution dropwise and sets the pH to 10. The formation of a black precipitate means the successful incorporation of magnetic nanoparticles into the graphene oxide structure. The mixture is stirred for an additional 60 minutes, then centrifuged and washed with deionized water to achieve neutralization. The resulting magnetic graphene oxide is dried at 80° C.The system is also equipped with a nucleation unit designed for the synthesis of the magnetic core-shell nanocomposite. This unit facilitates mixing of iron(II) chloride tetrahydrate and iron(III) chloride hexahydrate solutions in a nitrogen environment, followed by basification with an ammonia solution. The formation of a black precipitate confirms the formation of magnetite. The system then integrates reduced graphene oxide into the mixture, thereby creating a stable magnetic core. The shell integration unit then introduces magnetic graphene oxide as the shell material and thus ensures uniform coating around the magnetic core. The system allows continuous stirring for an additional 60 minutes resulting in the formation of magnetic core-shell nanoparticles. The final product is isolated by centrifugation, washed and dried at 80 °C. The separation of the composite is achieved by magnetic attraction, thereby ensuring efficient recovery of the core-shell magnetic nanocomposite.Graphene oxide-based nanocomposites are characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra taken with a PerkinEliner UATR Two spectrophotometer (USA). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was performed with a PHILIPS X'PERT PRO PANalolytic. Diffractometer, data acquisition at room temperature with Cu-Kα1radiation over a 20-range of 5-80° at a step size of 0.02. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was performed on a JEOL JSM-51010 instrument (Japan) at an operating voltage of 20 kV, while energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) was performed on an EDX-7000 instrument (Shimadzu, Japan). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was performed with a JEOL JEM293 microscope.Tyrosinase inhibition assay was performed on a 96 well plate with a microplate reader with spectrophotometer. The test involved adding 10 μl of the sample along with the positive control, Kojic acid, to the 96-well microplate. The sample solution was mixed with 60 μl phosphate buffer and 10 μl fungal tyrosinase (30 U / ml in phosphate buffer). After incubation, 20 μl of L-DOPA in phosphate buffer was added and the absorbance at 480 nm (OD480) was recorded with a spectrophotometer. All reactions were performed in triplicate and the results reported as averages. The in vitrotest results, including percent inhibition and IC50values, were analyzed with EZ-Fit, a curve fit program for enzyme kinetics (Perrella Scientific Inc., Amherst, USA). Percent inhibition was calculated by the following equation:Careful examination of the spectral and microscopic data confirmed the formation of the product. Graphene oxide-based materials have been reported to have a good inhibitory potential against enzymes, which caused us to synthesize this material to evaluate its tyrosinase inhibitory potential, which revealed high efficacy compared to standard kojic acid. The average crystal size was calculated to be 19.66 nm. Scanning electron microscopy showed a spherical morphology of the composite, with layers in certain areas. Energy dispersive x-ray studies demonstrated the presence of carbon, oxygen and iron in the composite. Transmission electron microscopy showed the core-shell structure of the composite. The material was tested for its tyrosinase inhibitory potential and showed high inhibitory activity against the enzyme with an IC50 -Wert of 13.50 ± 0, better than the standard inhibitor of kojic acid (18.30 ± 0.41). From the results, it can be concluded that the nanocomposites produced can be successfully incorporated into various cosmetic formulations such as creams, gels and sera, showing their compatibility and potential for topical application. These inhibitors can be combined with other anti-aging agents such as retinoids, vitamin C and peptides to provide comprehensive skin care solutions that are targeted to several aspects of the health and appearance of the skin. The drawings and the foregoing description provide examples of embodiments.
