Abstract

A cutting tool (10) characterized in that it comprises: a tool body with a cutting head (12) for performing a cutting operation; an axial drive mechanism integrated into the tool body for extending or retracting the cutting head (12) along the axis of the tool body; a predefined area (11) arranged on the tool body, wherein the predefined area (11) serves to arrange a feature element accessible for visual recognition; the feature element is formed either directly on the outer surface of the predefined area (11) or on a separate carrier, wherein the carrier is attached to the outer surface of the predefined area (11); and a rotary drive mechanism for driving the predefined area (11) so that the predefined area can rotate (11) about its own axis.
