Description

Title of the invention: Removable vegetation device FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to the greening of buildings, and in particular greening with plants, in particular climbing plants, fixed in a removable manner. STATE OF THE ART

[0002] In the current ecological context, the greening of urban spaces is becoming a real climate issue. In particular, the greening of building facades is increasingly recommended, whether for climatic reasons, to support biodiversity or to avoid damage - graffiti for example. Currently, the installation of a fence or trellis on the facade to be greened remains the preferred technique when the plants cannot attach themselves by their system of crampons, tendrils, suction cups or aerial roots.

[0003] This technique has several disadvantages: the plants are permanently fixed to the facade, sometimes reaching several dozen meters above the ground, making their maintenance complicated, expensive and risky. Indeed, maintaining a very tall climbing plant on a facade requires heavy equipment such as scaffolding, a cradle and poses a risk of injury to the person involved.

[0004] There is therefore a need for improving the maintenance of plants attached to a building facade.

[0005] The present invention therefore aims to enable the maintenance of such plants, preferably climbing plants, by installing on the facade of the building concerned a device allowing the removable fixing and the removal, preferably temporary, of these plants from the facade. Thus, the plants become easily accessible so that a single person can maintain them: move the plant away from the building by bringing it close to the ground - or more generally, to its own base - carry out the maintenance and put it back in its place. Furthermore, the possibility of temporarily removing the plants from the facade makes it possible to work on the facade itself: maintenance, replacement of glazing, moving for example. SUMMARY

DEFINITIONS

[0017] In the present invention, the terms below are defined as follows.

[0018] “Growing container” relates to a container (pot, planter, container) intended to receive a plant. By extension, the growing container can also be an above-ground planting, a planting pit, or even an open-ground planting. In this case, a means of anchoring the growing container securely can be a stake, a buried plate, or a heavy block placed in the ground.

[0019] “Building” concerns any type of building and their elements: interior wall, wall exterior, facade, or roof; having a vertical, horizontal, or any other desired orientation. By extension, the building can be a group of several buildings, the vegetation being supported on several buildings at the same time. This is the case of vegetation spanning a courtyard or a street, for example, or at the corner between several buildings. Buildings include buildings intended for housing - individual houses, apartment buildings -, work or service buildings - workshops, factories, logistics centers, office buildings, museums -, commercial buildings as well as civil engineering structures - bridges, noise barriers, hoppers, canals, antennas, etc.

[0020] "Winding" refers to the manner in which a climbing plant rises on its support. Here, the term "to wind" covers a support - a leaf resting on the trellis for example - or a hooking - by a plant hooking device or by an artificial hooking device - or a winding - a tendril for example.

[0021] “Facade” concerns the part of the building intended to be planted.

[0022] “Trailing” relates to a support on which a climbing or trailing plant can curl as it grows. A trellis can have any shape suitable for the growth of a plant. The trellis can be a lattice, a mesh, a network of wires of any structure. The trellis can also support the base of a plant, in a pot.

[0023] “Climbing plant” relates to a plant whose stems require support for rise. These plants cannot climb without support. Some plants develop organs that allow direct attachment to the support - crampons, suckers, tendrils, aerial roots. Other plants wrap themselves around the support: for non-twining plants, it is necessary to tie the plants to the support. For twining plants, the structure of the plant itself wraps around the support - by stems, leaves or tendrils - without being directly attached to them. In the absence of support, a climbing plant will be creeping - if its base is on the ground - or drooping - if its base is high up. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0024] The present disclosure relates to a removable greening device for a building. This device aims to place plants near the facades of a building while allowing them to be temporarily removed.

[0025] The removable vegetation device comprises an anchoring means 10 intended to be fixed to the building. This anchoring means ensures a fixed and stable positioning of the device. The anchoring means 10 may be an anchoring point such as a peg, a ring, a hook, a supporting wire, a hanging bar, a solid block - concrete block, rock, etc. This anchoring means may advantageously be secured to a growing container 20 intended to receive the plant.

[0026] The removable vegetation device also comprises a removable support 12. This removable support 12 comprises at its first end a first fixing means intended to be fixed to the anchoring means. Its first end is therefore fixed relative to the building, close to the place where the base of the plant will be installed.

[0027] The removable vegetation device finally comprises a tensioning system 14. The second end of the removable support 12 is engaged in the tensioning system 14 which allows, in a blocked configuration, to hold the removable support by possibly exerting a tension force on the removable support 12, and which allows in a sliding configuration, to let the removable support 12 slide freely. Thus, the removable support 12 is subject to the anchoring means 10 and to the tensioning system 14, but the removable support 12 can be tensioned or on the contrary released. In the tensioned configuration, the removable support 12 is close to the facades of the building. In the released configuration, the removable support 12 can be moved and moved away from the facades of the building.

[0028] The vegetation is made possible by the function of supporting the growth of the plants of the removable support 12. Two embodiments are possible. Either the removable support 12 is a linear support around which a plant can partially wrap itself, spontaneously for a twining plant, using attachment members for a non-twining plant. By partially, it is meant here that the plant will wrap itself at most on the part of the removable support 12 which is between the anchoring means 10 and the tensioning system 14 in the tensioned configuration. Or the removable support 12 comprises a trellis 18 on which a climbing plant can partially wrap itself. Preferably, the trellis 18 extends at most between the anchoring means 10 and the tensioning system 14 in the tensioned configuration. In the same way, here we mean by partially that the plant will wrap around all or part of the trellis 18. The plant can wrap around the removable support 12 by natural wrapping, or by means of a hooking member - cord, elastic, ring. A hooking member is configured to be able to insert at least one plant branch - preferably a climbing one - between the hooking member and the removable support 12 in order to trap the branch between the hooking member and the removable support 12. Each hooking member has for example a general shape of a hook or loop.

[0029] The vegetation device therefore constitutes, by the removable support 12, a mechanical support for the plants. In the tensioned configuration, the plant is close to the building, and extends from the anchoring means 10 towards the tensioning system 14. As this mechanical support can be moved away from the building, the vegetation is removable. Indeed, if the need arises, it is possible to release the tension on the removable support 12 and slide it into the tensioning system 14.The plant remains wound on the removable support 12 - or the trellis 18 - and will naturally accompany the removable support 12 towards the ground - in the case of a climbing plant - giving access to the facade of the building or allowing the maintenance of the plant - pruning, trellising, thinning - with the feet on the ground - or on the building for plant bases placed on balconies or terraces - instead of having to use heavy and expensive equipment such as a cradle or scaffolding. The risks of damage to the plant are also reduced. In the case of a drooping plant, the same principle is implemented, with an anchor point 10 placed at the top and the rest of the device placed below: it is then possible to raise the drooping plant to move it away from the building. After maintenance of the plant or intervention on the facade, the plant is put back in place by restoring the taut configuration of the removable support 12.

[0030] Furthermore, the greening of a building using the disclosed device makes it possible to limit the number of holes to be drilled in the building, in comparison with current supports of the trellis or wire mesh type which require a large number of anchor points on the wall.

[0031] In an embodiment particularly suited to planting by climbing plants which cling directly to their support, the removable supports 12 are installed so as to avoid contact of the climbing plants with the facade of the building. A distance of 50 cm, or even 1 m, between the facade and the removable supports in stretched configuration is suitable. This spacing of the facade is also favorable to the development of the plant by giving it more accessible space and better exposure to light.

[0032] The dimensions of the removable vegetation device, when it is in place, depend mainly on the building to be greened and the plants used.

[0033] For vegetation with wisteria, the height of vegetation may reach 30 m. In this case, the removable support 12 has a length of between 5 m and 60 m and will be made of a stainless steel cable with a diameter of 5 mm.

[0034] For vegetation with morning glory (Ipomoed), the height of vegetation may reach 15 m. In this case, the removable support 12 has a length of between 3 m and 30 m and will consist of a stainless steel cable with a diameter of 3 mm.

[0035] It should be noted that the removable support 12 may consist of several sections connected together, by a hook, a carabiner or any other connecting means. Indeed, the climbing plant which must be placed on the removable vegetation device is generally prepared in a nursery, with its support. This support does not need to be very long in the initial phases of growth of the plant. For example, the growth of a wisteria (Wysteria) can be initiated on a 4 m high cable. Then, when the climbing plant is placed, the first 4 m cable section will be completed by a second section of length adapted according to the height of the building to be planted, leading to the desired removable support 12.

[0036] When the removable support 12 is a linear support, it can be chosen from cables, chains, ropes or wires - braided or not. The section of the linear support can be round, square, rectangular or triangular. The linear support can also be a strip, preferably perforated. A textile strip naturally having meshes is particularly suitable. Finally, the linear support can have surface asperities - bumps, hollows, points, notches. The choice of the linear support will be a compromise between resistance (to wind, to snagging), weight, resistance to tension, linear expansion and adaptation to the growth of the plant.

[0037] The tensioning system 14 can be implemented by any known device. Preferred are tensioning systems 14 comprising a winding system 141, such as a reel or a winch. Indeed, a winding device prevents the part of the removable support 12 which is not under tension in the tensioned configuration from being left on the ground - or on the building - and potentially presenting risks for users.

[0038] The tensioning system 14 can be controlled remotely, for example by means of a control device placed close to the anchoring means 10.

[0039] In one embodiment, the planting device further comprises a return means 16 intended to be fixed to the building and in which the removable support 12 is folded and can slide freely. This embodiment thus makes it possible to adjust the path that the plant will travel on the building and to achieve multidirectional planting.

[0040] Very advantageously, the return means 16 is placed at the top of the building. - or at the highest point that the vegetation must reach - and the removable support 12 sliding in the return means 16 is folded so that the tensioning system 14 can be placed close to the anchoring means 10. Thus, the system which allows the plant to be moved away from the facade of the building is close to the base of the plant. The operations of temporarily removing the vegetation and maintaining the plant can easily be carried out by a single person. In this advantageous embodiment, the plant is wound around the part of the removable support 12 between the anchoring means 10 and the return means 16 in the tensioned configuration. The return means 16 is advantageously chosen from pulleys, rings, bars or slides.

[0041] In a particularly advantageous embodiment for great heights, the return means 16 is motorized in order to assist in the tensioning or removal of the removable support 12. The motorized pulleys are suitable for this use.

[0042] The removable vegetation device can be installed in all possible orientations compatible with the growth of the plants envisaged. For example, the device can be vertical with the anchoring means 10 arranged at the bottom - climbing plant - or at the top - hanging plant. The device can also be inclined in a vertical plane. The device can also be horizontal: in this case, the plants will be described as creeping. Finally, the device can be multidirectional, relying in particular on one or more return means 16. In particular, the removable support 12 can be branched - or ramified. In this case, the removable support 12 comprises a main support on which branches or ramifications are added. This removable support 12 is fixed to the anchoring means 10 by a fixing means on one end of the main support. And this removable support 12 is energized by a set of energizing systems 14, each operating on the main support or a branch.

[0043] A removable vegetation device may be installed so as to accommodate a set of climbing and / or trailing plants. In particular, a removable vegetation device may comprise several removable supports 12, each being anchored and tensioned independently or cooperatively. For example, several removable supports 12 may be attached to a single anchoring means 10—for example, an anchor bar—and tensioned using a single tensioning system 14—for example, a support bar. Such a device allows the removable vegetation of a large building surface. If the removable supports 12 are substantially parallel, the vegetated surface is substantially rectangular. In another example, several removable supports 12 may be attached to a single anchoring point and tensioned using a support bar requiring only one tensioning system 14.This device leads to a fan-shaped vegetation.

[0044] For the greening of very large facades, several removable greening devices as described above can cooperate.

[0045] In one embodiment, each of the planting devices comprises from 2 to 20 removable supports 12, each of these devices being operable separately.

[0046] In another embodiment, an even greater number of removable supports 12 - from 30 to 100 - can be implemented. For example, a large facade - shopping center, logistics hangar - can accommodate on its roof hook bars driven in rotation to behave like winches, driven integrally by a motor. All the removable supports 12 tensioned by these winches can be simultaneously relaxed to remove all the vegetation from the entire facade. This embodiment is advantageous when annual plants are used, for example morning glories (Ipomoed). Indeed, the aerial part of the plant will dry out in winter and remain on the removable supports 12. Before the plants grow back by their feet, it will be necessary to remove the dry vegetation during maintenance. The possibility of removing all the vegetation in one go allows for quick and safe maintenance. In a typical arrangement, the removable supports 12 are distributed in the vegetation arrangement to be separated by 1 m to 2 m, leading to good plant coverage and limiting growth competition between plants.

[0047] The present disclosure also relates to an assembly kit comprising the elements necessary for the installation of a removable greening device for a building as disclosed above. This kit comprises a plurality of elements to be assembled together and includes: - at least one anchoring means 10 intended to be fixed to the building; - at least one removable support 12 comprising at a first end, a first fixing means intended to be fixed to the anchoring means 10; - at least one power-up system 14 configured to • maintain the removable support 12 in tension in a locked configuration; or • allow the removable support 12 to slide freely in a sliding configuration.

[0048] The removable support 12 is a linear support around which a climbing plant can partially wrap; or alternatively the removable support 12 comprises a trellis 18 on which a climbing plant can partially wrap.

[0049] The linear support may be selected from a cable, a chain, a rope or a wire. The tensioning system 14 may also comprise a winding system 141, preferably selected from winders or winches.

[0050] The kit may further comprise at least one return means 16 intended to be fixed on the building and in which the removable support 12 is folded and can slide freely, this return means being able to be for example a pulley, a ring, a bar, an axle or a slide.

[0051] The present disclosure also relates to a method of installing a removable greening device for a building. This method comprises the following steps: - fixing an anchoring means 10 to the building; - fixing by means of anchoring 10 a removable support 12 by its first end; - the installation of a power supply system 14 configured for • maintain the removable support 12 in tension in a locked configuration; or • allow the removable support 12 to slide freely in a sliding configuration; and - the engagement of the removable support 12 in the powering system 14.

[0052] The removable support 12 is a linear support around which a climbing plant can partially wrap; or alternatively the removable support 12 comprises a trellis 18 on which a climbing plant can partially wrap.

[0053] This method can be implemented on a completed building. It can also be implemented during the construction of the building, which makes it possible to design easier access to the power supply systems 14, and to integrate the various elements in an aesthetic manner.

[0054] The present disclosure finally relates to a method for removing vegetation from a building. This vegetation comprises a climbing plant wrapped around a removable support 12 or on a trellis 18 secured to a removable support 12. The removable support 12 is - fixed at a first end to an anchoring means 10 on the building; - engaged in one of a power-up system 14 configured to • maintain the removable support 12 in tension in a locked configuration; or • allow the removable support 12 to slide freely in a sliding configuration.

[0055] The method comprises the steps of - release the tension exerted on the removable support 12 by the tensioning system 14; and - slide the removable support 12 so that the climbing plant is away from the building.

[0056] In addition, the method of removing vegetation from a building may comprise one or more of the following steps, in technically compatible combinations: - placing the powering system 14 in the locked configuration to immobilize the removable support 12 in the released configuration; - slide the removable support 12 so that the climbing plant is put back in place on the building; - place the tensioning system 14 in the blocked configuration to immobilize the removable support 12 in the tensioned configuration; - remove or maintain a plant rolled up on the removable support 12; - install a plant by inserting at least one branch or leaf between a hooking member and removable support 12.

[0057] This method has many advantages. It allows for the temporary installation of a set of vegetation, for plant maintenance or for building maintenance. In addition, this method avoids the use of heavy machinery for maintenance. Finally, the method can be implemented by a single operator. DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES

[0063] [Fig.l] illustrates the operation of a removable vegetation device. A growing tray is installed at the foot of a high-rise building. A peg is included in the growing tray. On this peg is fixed a removable support under form of metal cable with a diameter of 3 mm. On the roof of the building is installed a tensioning system into which the cable is engaged. A morning glory (Ipomoea) grows by winding itself around the cable.

[0064] On the left of [Fig.l], the cable is in a taut configuration: the cable is aligned with the facade and the plant is close to the facade.

[0065] In order to ensure the maintenance of the plant, the cable is relaxed - on the right of [Fig.l] - to move into a relaxed configuration. The plant, wound on the cable, is moved away from the facade, brought closer to the ground, where a gardener can carry out maintenance on the plant or the facade.

[0066] Then, the cable will return to the taut configuration to replace the vegetation.

[0067] [Fig.2] illustrates various removable vegetation devices, for climbing plants, on a high-rise building.

[0068] The device of [Fig.l] is repeated in the center of the building.

[0069] To the left of the building, a device comprising a culture tank on which are placed two pegs is positioned on a balcony (freely accessible by a pedestrian). On each peg is fixed a cable, each cable being engaged in a tensioning system placed on the roof of the building. The tensioning systems are equipped with electric winches controlled by an electrical box (not shown) placed on the growing tray. Between the two cables extends a trellis in the form of a textile net with average mesh size 10 cm. Aristolochia (Aristolochia) grows by winding itself on the trellis. The control of the two winches allows to slacken the cables to bring the trellis and the plant back to the balcony, then to tighten the cables to replace the trellis and the plant on the facade.

[0070] To the right of the building, a device comprising a growing tray on which two pegs are placed is positioned on the ground. A cable is attached to each peg, each cable being engaged in a pulley placed at the top of the building which returns the cable to a tensioning system placed on the ground, next to the growing tray. The tensioning systems are equipped with electric winches. Between the two cables extends a trellis in the form of a textile net with an average mesh size of 10 cm. An akebia (Akebia) grows by winding itself around the trellis. Control of the two winches allows the cables to be slackened to bring the trellis and the plant back to the ground, then the cables to be tightened in order to replace the trellis and the plant on the facade

[0071] [Fig.3] illustrates different removable vegetation devices, for hanging plants, on a high-rise building.

[0072] To the left of the building, a growing tank is installed on the roof of a high-rise building. A peg is included in the growing tank. On this peg is fixed a removable support in the form of a 3 mm diameter metal cable. On the ground, at A tensioning system is installed vertically above the growing tank, into which the cable is engaged. A passion flower (Passiflord) falls, wrapping itself around the cable, thanks to its tendrils.

[0073] In order to ensure the maintenance of the plant, the cable is relaxed and raised, which brings the plant wound on the cable to the roof, where a gardener can carry out the expected maintenance. Then, the cable will return to the taut configuration to replace the vegetation.

[0074] To the right of the building, a device comprising a growing container on which two pegs are placed is installed on the roof of a high-rise building. A cable is attached to each peg, each cable being engaged in a tensioning system placed on the ground, vertically above the growing container. The tensioning systems are equipped with electric winches. Between the two cables extends a trellis in the form of a textile net with an average mesh size of 10 cm. A clematis (Clematis) falls by wrapping itself around the trellis thanks to its foliage. Control of the two winches allows the cables to be slackened to bring the trellis and the plant back up to the roof, then the cables to be tightened to replace the trellis and the plant on the facade.

[0075] [Fig.4] illustrates different multidirectional removable greening devices on a high-rise building.

[0076] On the front facade, a device comprising a growing tray on which two pegs are placed is positioned on the ground. A cable is attached to each peg. One of the cables is engaged in a pulley placed on a balcony of the building which returns the cable to a tensioning system placed on the ground, next to the growing tray. The second cable is engaged in a tensioning system placed on the balcony of the building, forming an angle of 30° with the vertical. The tensioning systems are equipped with electric winches, the one placed on the balcony being controlled remotely. Chinese blue vines (Holboellia coriacea, not shown) grow by winding themselves around the cables. Controlling the two winches allows the cables to be slackened to bring the plants back to the ground, then the cables to be tightened in order to replace the plants on the facade.

[0077] Furthermore, a multidirectional device is installed with a growing tray positioned on the ground and comprising a peg. On the peg is fixed a cable which is engaged in a pulley placed on the roof of the building and which returns the cable to the other end of the roof - on a horizontal path therefore - to a second pulley which returns the cable to a tensioning system placed on the ground. A wisteria (Wisterid) climbs by winding itself around the cable then crawls following the cable.

[0078] In order to ensure the maintenance of the plant, the cable is relaxed, which brings the plant wound on the cable to the ground, where a gardener can carry out the expected maintenance. Then, the cable will return to the taut configuration to replace the vegetation on the facade and the roof.

[0079] [Fig.5] illustrates different removable greening devices on a detached house.

[0080] A device comprising a growing tray on which two pegs are placed is installed under an overhang of a detached house. On each peg is fixed a cable, each cable being engaged in a pulley - on the left - or two pulleys - on the right - placed under the overhang and which returns the cable to a tensioning system placed on the ground. Between the two cables extends a trellis in the form of a textile net with meshes of average size 10 cm. A kiwi (Actinidia) grows by winding itself around the trellis. The control of the two winches makes it possible to slacken the cables to bring the trellis and the plant back to the ground, then to tighten the cables in order to replace the trellis and the plant in the form of a plant partition.

[0081] A device similar to that shown in [Fig.3] to the left of the building is set up from a terrace of the individual house. DIGITAL REFERENCES
