100583NL01 A method for installing and / or replacing a transport belt (5, 5’) in a transport mechanism (4) of a printer (1), which reduces the risk of damage to the operator and / or the equipment involved is provided. The transport belt (5, 5’) is supported on a plurality of rollers (10-13) and a suction chamber assembly (7). The method comprises the steps of: - mounting a new transport belt (5, 5’) over the rollers (10-13), characterized by the steps of: - mounting a protective sleeve (14) over the rollers (10-13) prior to the step of mounting the new transport belt (5, 5’); and - removing the protective sleeve (14) from between the new transport belt (5, 5’) and the rollers (10-13).
