Protective tamper-evident seal for portable gas canisters

Abstract

The utility model relates to a protective tamper-evident cap for portable gas canisters. The cap includes a tubular body that covers the valve stem and a plurality of inward protrusions that engage the upper rim of the canister. Each protrusion is connected to the tubular body by a breakable weak member formed as a reduced-thickness bridge. The weak members fracture when a predetermined removal force is applied, allowing the cap to be removed only by breaking the weak members. Fracture of the weak members causes visible detachment of the protrusions, providing clear tamper evidence. The cap includes external ribbing to improve grip during intentional removal.
