Composite magnetostrictive material and device and method for producing composite magnetostrictive material

Abstract

The subject of the application is a composite magnetostrictive material exhibiting the property of changing dimensions and volume when placed in a magnetic field, which is used in transducers and in magnetic-mechanical sensors, particularly for generating mechanical vibrations, as well as a device for producing this material and a method for producing it. The composite magnetostrictive material, having the properties of an elastic, anisotropic, and inhomogeneous ferromagnet and a cylindrical shape, contains particles (1) of elongated shape, having longitudinal dimensions of 0.5 - 0.9 mm and transverse dimensions of 0.25 - 0.5 mm, wherein the particles (1) are obtained from a ferromagnetic, magnetically soft material with high magnetic permeability and low remanence, preferably from molybdenum-doped permalloy with a chemical composition of 16 parts by weight of iron, 79 parts by weight of nickel, and 5 parts by weight of molybdenum.Furthermore, the particles (1) are placed in a matrix (2) which is a spirally wound layer with a thickness of 1.2 mm, made of an elastomer with high susceptibility to elastic deformation, preferably of polymerized silicone rubber, i.e. polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with the chemical formula CH3[Si(CH3)2O]nSi(CH3)3, and the individual turns of the matrix (2) are closely adjacent to each other and are glued together by means of an adhesive (3), which is a polymerized silicone rubber, the same as the rubber in the matrix (2), the thickness of the adhesive layer being 0.2 - 0.3 mm.
