Description

[0001] UNIFIED EAST SLAVIC KEYBOARD

[0002] Unified East Slavic Keyboard

[0003] The technical solution relates to keyboards for entering data into a computing device (computer) and is intended to improve computer productivity by increasing the convenience and speed of text input in Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian.

[0004] To enter letters, numbers, and special graphic symbols into a computer, keyboards are used with key and symbol arrangements described in the ISO / IEC 9995 and GOST 14289 series of standards. These standards define the division of the keyboard into sections (divisions) and zones (fields) in which the keys are located. The relative position of a key on the keyboard is characterized by its position. Key positions are indicated by the row (Latin letter) and column (number) at the intersection of which the key is located in a conventional coordinate grid, for example, EO 1.

[0005] The alphanumeric keypad (field) and function keypad (control keys) form the alphanumeric section of the keyboard (the main field). The alphanumeric keypad must contain at least 47 keys for entering uppercase and lowercase Latin letters, numbers, and special graphic symbols, as well as a space bar. Standards recommend the arrangement of Latin letters, known as the QWERTY layout (based on the first six characters of the letter row D, on keys with positions D01-D06), which is the most common Latin layout for computer keyboards. Due to the limited number of keys (no more than 48), the same keys used for entering Latin letters are used for entering national language letters. Switching between layouts (input modes) is accomplished using the control keys.GOST 14289 describes a keyboard with a combined arrangement of Latin letters using the QWERTY layout and Russian letters using the Cyrillic ITSUKEN layout (based on the first six characters of the letter row D, on keys with positions D01-D06), known as a typewritten layout. Keyboards with the typewritten ITSUKEN layout are also known, differing in the arrangement of the letter "Ё" and the hard sign "Ъ" (GOST 6431).

[0006] The ITSUKEN layout originates from mechanical typewriters for the Russian language and prescribes the placement of the most frequently used Russian letters in a specific section of the keyboard (see, for example, K. K. Solovyova, A Course in Modern Typography, A Study Guide for Training Typists, Moscow, EKONOMIKA, 1981, pp. 7, 9). This source of information indicates that a computer has a typewriter keyboard as its functional unit, and a strictly defined position of the typist's hands on the keyboard is called the "primary position." The most convenient for this "primary position" is the second row from the bottom of the keyboard (row C), which is called the primary row. The primary position is constant: for the left hand - FЫВА, for the right hand - ОЛДЖ. It is also stated that the keyboard “...is arranged so that the most convenient, central part contains frequently used letters, which are used by the strongest and most developed fingers – the index and middle fingers.”Thus, the ITSUKEN layout follows the principle of "repetition" - letters that are most often found in Russian words are located in the central part of the keyboard, which ensures high input speed when using fast "touch" (ten-finger) typing of Russian texts.

[0007] Based on the Cyrillic layout of ITsUKEN, the following layouts were created for languages using the Cyrillic alphabet: Ukrainian, Belarusian, Tatar, Bashkir, Yakut, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek, Mongolian, and others. Keyboards with the typewritten layout of ITsUKEN are ineffective when working with digital data, since numbers and punctuation marks are located on the same keys in the E row, and entering numbers requires pressing the additional "Shift" key.

[0008] The drawback of keyboards with a typewriter layout when working with numerical data is eliminated by keyboards with the ITSUKEN layout from Apple (USA), in which the letter "Ё" is located on the key with the C12 position (Apple layout). On keyboards with the Apple layout, pressing the "Shift" key is not required when entering numbers, but it is required when entering punctuation marks, which negatively impacts the comfort and speed of typing.

[0009] The most common keyboards are those with 47 keys in the alphanumeric zone (101 / 104-ANSI keyboards) with the ITSUKEN layout for Windows operating systems from Microsoft (USA). In these keyboards, the letter "Ё" is located on the key with the E00 position and, with the comma "," and period "." located together in the bottom row of the alphanumeric zone (field), on the key with the B10 position (Windows layout). Keyboards with the Windows layout, unlike keyboards with the Apple layout, do not require pressing the "Shift" key when entering the period "." punctuation mark, but still require pressing the "Shift" key when entering the comma "," punctuation mark.

[0010] RU224520 is known to have a keyboard with the new Russian layout, ITSUKEN, which provides greater convenience and increased productivity when entering text compared to a keyboard with the Windows layout, which is achieved due to the unified arrangement of punctuation marks with the Latin layout - the comma "," and the period ".", on the keys with the position B08 and B09, respectively, when entering which the "Shift" key is not required.

[0011] The keyboard with the new Russian layout, ITsUKEN, was chosen as the closest analogue (prototype). A drawback of the keyboard with the new Russian layout, ITsUKEN, is that it cannot be used for entering text in Ukrainian and Belarusian, due to the lack of placement of certain letters of the alphabet for these languages, as well as the apostrophe symbol.

[0012] WO2024049327 describes the ITSUKEN keyboard with a Russian-Ukrainian-Belarusian layout, which allows text input in Russian, Ukrainian, and Belarusian. This is achieved by the additional arrangement of Ukrainian and Belarusian letters on the keys, as well as the apostrophe symbol:

[0013] - the Ukrainian letter "I" is located on the same key as the Russian letter "И";

[0014] - the Ukrainian letter "I" is located on the same key as the Russian letter "Ё";

[0015] - the Ukrainian letter "E" is located on the same key as the Russian letter "E";

[0016] - the Ukrainian letter "И" is located on the same key as the Russian letter "Ы";

[0017] - the Belarusian letter "U" is located on the same key as the Russian letter "Щ";

[0018] - the apostrophe sign "'" is located on the same key as the hard sign "Ъ".

[0019] The technical result of this technical solution is the combination of advantages in convenience and productivity (speed) of text input on a keyboard with the new Russian layout of the ITSUKEN from RU224520, with the possibility of trilingual text input in Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian, as proposed in WO2024049327 (Fig. 1).

[0020] The claimed technical result is achieved by the fact that the keyboard with the Cyrillic layout of ITsUKEN and the Latin layout, containing at least 47 keys, with the arrangement of letters, numbers and graphic symbols on them, with the arrangement of punctuation marks comma "," and period "." in the Cyrillic and Latin layouts in the bottom row of the alphanumeric zone, on the keys with the position B08 and B09 respectively, contains letters of the Ukrainian and Belarusian alphabets and the apostrophe sign: the Ukrainian letter "I" is located on the same key with the Russian letter "И"; the Ukrainian letter "I" is located on the same key with the Russian letter "Ё"; the Ukrainian letter "С" is located on the same key with the Russian letter "Э"; the Ukrainian letter "И" is located on the same key with the Russian letter "Ы"; the Belarusian letter "У" is located on the same key with the Russian letter "Щ"; The apostrophe sign "'" is located on the same key as the hard sign "Ъ".

[0021] From WO2024063668 a keyboard with an extended Cyrillic layout, ITSUKEN, is known, containing on the keys of the E row additional symbols that are absent in the typewritten layout, but used in the Russian language, such as: accents “'”, dashes “—”, opening quotation mark “«”, closing quotation mark This capability is achieved through the use of an extended keyboard with 48 keys in the alphanumeric zone, as recommended by the ISO / IEC 9995 standard for national keyboards (ISO 102 / 105 keyboard). This keyboard has an additional key at position B00, which can accommodate the letter "B" and align with the Latin layout of the slash " / " and question mark "?" symbols, located on key B10.

[0022] In the claimed technical solution, when using an extended keyboard with 48 keys in the alphanumeric zone, in the Cyrillic layout it is also possible to arrange (Fig. 2-5): the punctuation marks comma "," and semicolon ";" on the key with position B08; the punctuation marks period "." and colon ":" on the key with position B09; the letter "Б" on the key with position B00; the letter "Ю" on the key with position D12; the hard sign "Ъ" on the key with position E00; the letter "Ё" on the key with position D13 or E13, or C12; on the keys of the digital row E, the location of the characters: accents “'” and (or) dashes “—” and (or) opening quotation mark “«” and closing quotation mark “»” and (or) fractional line “ / ” and (or) backslash “\”.

[0023] The color of additional letters in the Ukrainian and Belarusian alphabets, as well as Latin letters, may differ from the color of Russian letters. This technical solution applies to detachable keyboards (connected to a computer), flush-mounted keyboards (installed in a computer, laptop, etc.), wireless keyboards, and virtual keyboards (on the device's screen).
