[0023] Hereinafter, embodiments of the inventive concept will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0024] Figure 1 is a block diagram showing an electronic system 10 according to an embodiment.
[0025] The electronic system 10 according to the embodiment may include a host 100 and an electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may include a control logic device 210 and a transmission logic device 220. Herein and throughout the specification and the subsequent claims, a logic device refers to a device capable of performing a logic operation. In various embodiments, the logic device may include a logic circuit (e.g., a gate array) and / or a processor (e.g., a central processing unit, an application-specific integrated circuit, a digital signal processor, etc.) configured to perform a logic operation in response to executable instructions stored in a memory device.
[0026] The host 100 and the electronic device 200 according to the embodiment may establish a connection to send and receive data DTA. After the connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 is established and at least one of the host 100 and the electronic device 200 sends and receives all the data DTA, a completion signal DONE may be transmitted and received. The data DTA may be transmitted in units of frames, bits, bytes, etc. The completion signal DONE is a response signal, and for example, when the electronic device 200 sends the data DTA, the host 100 may send a response signal, which may include the completion signal DONE. In other words, the response signal may include a single or multiple signals, not limited to the completion signal DONE, which are all transmitted as a response by one of the devices receiving the data DTA.
[0027] The completion signal DONE according to the embodiment may be a signal for notifying the other party that a part or all of the communication process has been performed. For example, the completion signal DONE may be a signal notifying the electronic device 200 of the fact that there is no data DTA to be transmitted by the host 100 after the host 100 sends all the data DTA that needs to be transmitted. However, hereinafter, the completion signal DONE may be referred to as a first completion signal and a second completion signal. The first completion signal may be a completion signal DONE transmitted from the host 100 to the electronic device 200, and the second completion signal may be a completion signal DONE transmitted from the electronic device 200 to the host 100. In other words, the first completion signal and the second completion signal may be the same as the signal indicating that all the data DTA have been transmitted, except that only the transmission point is different between the first completion signal and the second completion signal.
[0028] According to an embodiment, after the host 100 or the electronic device 200 sends a completion signal DONE to the other party, and the sending of the completion signal DONE has ended, further sending of the data DTA may be impossible. For example, even when a situation occurs in which the host 100 should send other data DTA due to various reasons, after transmitting the completion signal DONE, since the completion signal DONE has been transmitted to the electronic device 200, the other data DTA may not be transmitted. In this case, the electronic system 10 may be in a half-duplex communication state, in which only the electronic device 200 can send the data DTA. In the case where the electronic system 10 sends and receives the data DTA in half-duplex communication, the amount of data transmission can be reduced. Therefore, an electronic system 10 according to an embodiment described herein is provided to increase the duration of full-duplex communication by reducing the duration of half-duplex communication.
[0029] The electronic device 200 according to the embodiment may receive one or more signals after establishing a connection with the host 100, detect the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on the received (multiple) signals, and send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 according to the detected signal transmission strategy. The control logic device 210 may receive an initial command signal and a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal, detect the signal transmission strategy, and send a detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220 according to the detected signal transmission strategy. The detection signal DET may include a signal indicating the signal transmission strategy of the host 100. The transmission logic device 220 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 based on the received detection signal DET, and complete a series of data transmission processes performed by the electronic device 200.
[0030] The signal transmission policy may refer to a policy that specifies a method for the host 100 to send a signal to the electronic device 200. For data communication to be performed by the electronic system 10, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may send and receive various signals including data DTA and a completion signal DONE. For example, the signal transmission policy may include a policy that defines a time point or time period for the host 100 to send the completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200, a feature of the completion signal DONE, and the like.
[0031] The initial command signal may represent a command signal that the host 100 or the electronic device 200 initially sends to the other party after establishing a connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200. The command signal may include various instructions, for example, a command for requesting information such as the size, capacity, and device information (e.g., device type) of the electronic device 200 for smooth communication. According to an embodiment, the initial command signal may be used to detect a signal transmission strategy of the host 100. However, the embodiment is not limited thereto. According to an embodiment, the host 100 may detect a signal transmission strategy of the electronic device 200, and in this case, an initial command signal transmitted to the host 100 by the electronic device 200 may be used. A method for detecting a signal transmission strategy is described later.
[0032] According to an embodiment, according to a signal transmission strategy of the host 100 , the electronic device 200 may extend the duration of full-duplex communication by changing a manner of transmitting a completion signal DONE to be transmitted to the host 100 .
[0033] According to one embodiment, when the host 100 sends a completion signal DONE after sending a specific number of data frames, the electronic device 200 may detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy. When the signal transmission strategy of the host is detected as the first strategy, the electronic device 200 first sends the completion signal DONE before receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100, and then, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may be in a half-duplex communication state in which only the host 100 performs communication. Therefore, in order to reduce the time period in which the host 100 and the electronic device 200 are in the half-duplex communication state, the electronic device 200 may send the completion signal DONE only after receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100.
[0034] According to an embodiment, when the host 100 sends a completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 on the premise that the host 100 has received a completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200, the electronic device 200 may detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy. In the case where the signal transmission strategy is detected as the second strategy and the electronic device 200 does not send the completion signal DONE, the host 100 may not send the completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 unless the connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 is forcibly terminated due to a timeout. In other words, the communication connection time between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may be excessively increased. Therefore, when the electronic device 200 detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy, and the trigger logic device (for example, Figure 2When the condition signal COND is sent by the electronic device 200, the electronic device 200 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100. In other words, regardless of whether the electronic device has received the completion signal DONE from the host 100, the electronic device 200 may send the completion signal DONE to the host 100.
[0035] As described above, according to the embodiment, by performing communication between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 in a variable manner according to the signal transmission strategy of the host 100, the duration of full-duplex communication can be effectively increased, and the efficiency of data transmission can be improved. However, even if a method in which the electronic device 200 sends a completion signal DONE according to the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is described below, the method can also be applied to a method in which the host 100 sends a completion signal DONE according to the signal transmission strategy of the electronic device 200. In other words, even if the host 100 and the electronic device 200 are changed, the technical idea can also be applied.
[0036] The electronic system 10 according to the embodiment may include various types of electronic systems for exchanging various data. For example, the electronic system 10 may include an electronic system that communicates via a serially connected small computer system interface (small computer system interface, SCSI) SAS. In this case, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may be terminal devices including an initiator and a target, respectively. For example, when the host 100 is the initiator and the electronic device 200 is the target, the host 100 may include a host bus adapter (host bus adapter, HBA), and the electronic device 200 may be implemented as various storage devices. For example, the storage device may be implemented as a non-volatile memory, a volatile memory, a flash memory, a solid state drive (solid state drive, SSD), a hard disk drive (hard disk drive, HDD), etc.
[0037] The electronic system 10 according to the embodiment may not be limited to the communication performed only by SAS, and may include an electronic system in which communication is performed via various interfaces. According to the embodiment, the electronic system 10 may be implemented as a server device and a client device that send data by using wired or wireless communication. For example, the electronic system 10 may utilize a peripheral component interconnect (PCIe), remote direct memory access (RDMA), serial advanced technology attachment (SATA), fiber channel or nonvolatile memory express (NVMe), or a universal interface such as Ethernet or universal serial bus (USB). Alternatively, the electronic system 10 may perform communication via near field and long range communication interfaces, and may comply with communication interfaces through various methods, such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE), Zigbee, 3rd generation (3G), 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP), long term evolution (LTE), 5th generation (5G), wireless fidelity (WiFi), Bluetooth, near field communication (NFC), and infrared ray (IR).
[0038] Figure 2 is a block diagram showing an electronic system 10 according to an embodiment.
[0039] The electronic system 10 according to the embodiment may include a host 100 and an electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may include a control logic device 210 and a transmission logic device 220. The control logic device 210 may include a detection logic device 211 and a trigger logic device 212.
[0040] The detection logic device 211 according to an embodiment may receive a completion signal DONE from the host 100, and the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100. For example, an additional interface for transmitting or receiving a signal may be further included between the detection logic device 211 and the host 100, and between the transmission logic device 220 and the host 100.
[0041] The detection logic device 211 may receive at least one of a completion signal DONE, data DTA, and an initial command signal from the host 100 .
[0042] According to an embodiment, the detection logic device 211 may receive an initial command signal, which is a first reception signal after establishing a connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200. In addition, after the electronic system 10 performs a series of operations according to the initial command signal, the detection logic device 211 may receive a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal. The host 100 and the electronic device 200 may exchange various signals and establish a mutual connection for data communication.
[0043] According to an embodiment, in the first stage, the detection logic device 211 may receive an initial command signal and a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal. For example, the initial command signal may be a signal for requesting the capacity of the electronic device 200, and in response to the initial command signal, the completion signal DONE may indicate that the host 100 has completed the operation of requesting the capacity of the electronic device 200. In other words, the first stage may indicate a stage in which the electronic system 10 is ready to smoothly communicate data.
[0044] According to an embodiment, in the second stage, the detection logic device 211 may receive the data DTA and a completion signal according to the data DTA. For example, the completion signal DONE may be received from the host 100 after a certain number of data frames. Here, the completion signal DONE may be a signal that the host 100 has completed the operation of sending a certain number of data frames. In other words, the second stage may represent a stage in which the electronic system 10 sends and receives data.
[0045] According to an embodiment, the detection logic device 211 can detect the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on the initial command signal received from the host 100 in the first stage and the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal, and the detection logic device 211 can send a detection signal DET to the sending logic device 220 according to the signal transmission strategy of the host 100.
[0046] According to an embodiment, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the host 100 based on the detection signal DET.
[0047] For example, when receiving the detection signal DET, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100. The transmission logic device 220 may refrain from transmitting the completion signal DONE to the host 100 until the detection signal DET is received, even if the transmission logic device 220 is in a state capable of transmitting the completion signal DONE to the host 100. For example, even after the electronic device 200 transmits all the data DTA to be transmitted to the host 100, the electronic device 200 may additionally transmit the data DTA due to various reasons, and therefore, the electronic device 200 may refrain from transmitting the completion signal DONE to the host 100 until the detection signal DET is received. In other words, the detection signal DET may be a signal that satisfies the condition for the transmission logic device 220 to transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100.
[0048] As another example, when the detection signal DET is received, the transmission logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100. In other words, the detection signal DET may include information about the signal transmission strategy of the host 100, and the transmission logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on the received detection signal DET. For example, the transmission logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy or the second strategy based on the received detection signal DET. Next, when the transmission logic device 220 determines the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy, the transmission logic device 220 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100, and when the transmission logic device 220 determines the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the second strategy, the transmission logic device 220 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 after receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100.
[0049] According to an embodiment, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the host 100 based on the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND. The transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100 in response to receiving the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND. When the transmission logic device 220 receives the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND, the electronic device 200 may determine that all conditions for transmitting the completion signal DONE to the host 100 are satisfied, and transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100. According to an embodiment, the transmission logic device 220 may generate a completion signal DONE, be activated to transmit the completion signal DONE when receiving the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND, and then transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100.
[0050] According to an embodiment, the trigger logic device 212 may send a condition signal COND to the transmission logic device 220. According to an embodiment, the trigger logic device 212 may transmit different condition signals COND to the transmission logic device 220 depending on whether there are remaining data frames to be transmitted from the electronic device 200 to the host 100. This will be referred to below. Figure 3 Give a description.
[0051] Figure 3 is a block diagram showing an electronic system 10 according to an embodiment.
[0052] The electronic system 10 according to the embodiment may include a host 100 and an electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may include a control logic device 210 and a transmission logic device 220. The control logic device 210 may include a detection logic device 211 and a trigger logic device 212. The trigger logic device 212 may include a first sub-trigger logic device 213 and a second sub-trigger logic device 214.
[0053] According to an embodiment, the trigger logic device 212 may transmit at least one of the first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2 to the transmission logic device 220. The condition signal COND may include the first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2. The first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2 are required conditions for the transmission logic device 220 to transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100. In other words, as described above, after the transmission logic device 220 receives at least one of the first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2, and the detection signal DET, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100.
[0054] According to an embodiment, the first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2 may be signals that are differently generated according to whether the electronic device 200 has remaining data to be transmitted to the host 100 .
[0055] According to an embodiment, when the first sub-trigger logic device 213 is required to send the completion signal DONE to the host 100 even if the electronic device 200 includes the remaining data DTA to be sent therein, the first sub-trigger logic device 213 may send the first condition signal COND1 to the sending logic device 220 to request the sending logic device 220 to send the completion signal DONE. When the second sub-trigger logic device 214 is required to send the completion signal DONE because there is no data DTA to be sent by the electronic device 200, the second sub-trigger logic device 214 may send the second condition signal COND2 to the sending logic device 220 and request the sending logic device 220 to send the completion signal DONE. For example, the first sub-trigger logic device 213 may be implemented with firmware FW, and the second sub-trigger logic device 214 may be implemented with a link state machine.
[0056] Figure 4 is a flowchart of an operating method of the electronic device 200 according to an embodiment.
[0057] Based on the initial command signal received after the connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 is established and the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal, the signal transmission strategy used by the host 100 to send the completion signal DONE can be detected (S310). This will refer to Fig. 6A and Fig. 7A Detailed description.
[0058] The detection logic device 211 included in the electronic device 200 may transmit a detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220 according to the detection result (S320). For example, the detection signal DET may be a required signal for the transmission logic device 220 to transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100, and the detection signal DET may be a signal including information about the signal transmission strategy of the host 100.
[0059] The transmission logic device 220 included in the electronic device 200 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the host 100 based on the detection signal DET (S330). According to an embodiment, the transmission logic device 220 may regard the detection signal DET as a required condition for the completion signal DONE by transmitting the completion signal DONE to the host 100 in response to the reception of the detection signal DET. According to another embodiment, the transmission logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on the information about the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 included in the detection signal DET after receiving the detection signal DET. For example, when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is determined to be the first strategy, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100, and when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is determined to be the second strategy, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100 after receiving the detection signal DET and thereafter receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100.
[0060] Figure 5 is a flowchart of an operating method of the electronic device 200 according to an embodiment. Figure 4 A description given of operations S310 and S320 is omitted.
[0061] The trigger logic device 212 included in the electronic device 200 may transmit different condition signals COND (S325) according to whether the electronic device 200 includes remaining data to be transmitted to the host 100. For example, when there is remaining data to be transmitted by the electronic device 200, the first sub-trigger logic device 213 may transmit the first condition signal COND1, and when there is no remaining data to be transmitted by the electronic device 200, the second sub-trigger logic device 214 may transmit the second condition signal COND2.
[0062] The electronic device 200 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 based on the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND (S335). When both the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND are received, the transmission logic device 220 may send the completion signal DONE to the host 100. For example, the transmission logic device 220 may receive the detection signal DET after receiving the condition signal COND, and in response to receiving the condition signal COND, send the completion signal DONE to the host 100. In another example, the transmission logic device 220 may receive the condition signal COND after receiving the detection signal DET, and in response to receiving the detection signal DET, send the completion signal DONE to the host 100. In another example, the transmission logic device 220 may receive the detection signal DET after receiving the condition signal COND, determine a signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on the received detection signal DET, and send the completion signal DONE to the host 100 according to the determined signal transmission strategy of the host 100. As described above, the duration of full-duplex communication may be increased by differently changing the manner in which the electronic device 200 transmits the completion signal DONE to the host 100 according to the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 .
[0063] Fig. 6A is a flow chart of the operation of the electronic device 200 for detecting a first policy according to an embodiment;
[0064] Figure 6B is a timing diagram for explaining an operation of the electronic device 200 according to an embodiment sending a completion signal DONE according to a detected first strategy; and Figure 6C 2 is a timing diagram for explaining an operation of the electronic device 200 transmitting the completion signal DONE after determining the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy according to an embodiment.
[0065] according to Fig. 6A , the electronic device 200 may detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy. The electronic device 200 may send a connection request signal to the host 100 to establish a connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 (S411). For example, the connection request signal may be an open address frame (OAF) according to the SAS protocol, and the OAF may include the addresses of the host 100 and the electronic device 200.
[0066] The host 100 may send a connection response signal in response to the received connection request signal (S412). For example, according to the SAS protocol, the connection response signal may be an open acceptance signal OPEN_ACCEPT. Fig. 6A and Fig. 7AIn the embodiment, it is shown that the electronic device 200 sends a connection request signal, and the host 100 sends a connection response signal. However, on the contrary, the host 100 may send a connection request signal, and the electronic device 200 may send a connection response signal. On the other hand, when the host 100 and the electronic device 200 send a connection request signal and a connection response signal, a connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may be established.
[0067] The host 100 may transmit an initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200 (S421). For example, when the host 100 transmits the initial command signal CMD, the host 100 may request various information such as the remaining capacity of the electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may respond to the host 100 with the requested various information. As described above, the initial command signal CMD may be a signal initially transmitted after the connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 is established.
[0068] The host 100 may send a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200 (S422). For example, after sending the initial command signal CMD in the first stage, the host 100 may send the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200, regardless of whether the host 100 receives the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200. For example, after sending the initial command signal CMD, the host 100 may send the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200 within a specific time. In this case, the host 100 in the second stage may send the completion signal DONE after sending a specific number of data frames or a specific size of data DTA.
[0069] When the signal transmission of the host 100 is the first strategy, the host 100 may send the initial command signal CMD and the corresponding completion signal DONE, regardless of whether the command signal CMD has been received as the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200. In addition, when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy, in the second stage, the host 100 may send the completion signal DONE after sending a specific number of data frames or a specific size of data DTA. Therefore, the electronic device 200 can detect the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 in the first stage immediately after establishing a connection with the host 100.
[0070] Therefore, by receiving the initial command signal CMD and the corresponding completion signal DONE sent from the host 100 in the first stage, the electronic device 200 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy in which the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE after sending a specific number of data frames.
[0071] according to Figure 6BIn the second stage, when the sending logic device 220 receives the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET, the sending logic device 220 of the electronic device 200 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 .
[0072] Similar to the above, the detection logic device 211 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy (S430). The trigger logic device 212 can send a condition signal COND to the sending logic device 220 (S440). In this case, the condition signal COND may include a first condition signal COND1 and a second condition signal COND2. The condition signal COND may be a signal requesting the sending logic device 220 to send a completion signal DONE to the host 100.
[0073] After sending a series of data DTA, the host 100 may send a completion signal DONE according to the sent data DTA to the detection logic device 211 of the electronic device 200 (S450). For example, when the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE to various receiving interfaces included in the electronic device 200, the receiving interface may send the completion signal DONE received from the host 100 to the detection logic device 211. In the second stage, the host 100 may send and receive data DTA to and from the electronic device 200. In this case, after sending all the data DTA that have been sent to the electronic device 200, the host 100 may send a completion signal DONE according to the transmission of the data DTA.
[0074] After receiving the completion signal DONE, the detection logic device 211 may generate a detection signal DET and transmit the detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220 (S460). When the detection logic device 211 detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy (S430) and receives the completion signal DONE, the detection logic device 211 may generate a detection signal DET and transmit the generated detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220 (S460).
[0075] After the host 100 has transmitted a specific number of data frames, and when the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE regardless of receiving the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200, it can be understood that half-duplex communication is performed even if the electronic device 200 does not send the completion signal DONE. Therefore, when the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE (S450), the detection logic device 211 may no longer perform full-duplex communication, and therefore, the detection logic device 211 may send the detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220, so that the transmission logic device 220 sends the completion signal DONE (S480). In addition, by suspending the transmission of the detection signal DET until the detection logic device 211 receives the completion signal DONE from the host 100, the duration of performing full-duplex communication between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 can be increased.
[0076] The transmission logic device 220 may receive the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET (S470), and transmit the completion signal DONE (S480) in response to receiving the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET. For example, by receiving the condition COND and the detection signal DET and transmitting the completion signal DONE, the transmission logic device 220 may complete the process of exchanging data DTA between the host 100 and the electronic device 200. When the transmission logic device 220 receives the detection signal DET and at least one of the first condition signal COND1 and the second condition signal COND2, the transmission logic device 220 may transmit the completion signal DONE. In addition, the transmission logic device 220 may also be programmed to transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100 when receiving the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND.
[0077] according to Figure 6C In the second stage, the sending logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy, and may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 .
[0078] When the detection logic device 211 detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy, the detection logic device 211 may send a detection signal DET to the transmission logic device 220. In this case, the detection signal DET may include information indicating that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy. The trigger logic device 212 may send a condition signal COND to the transmission logic device 220 (S451). On the other hand, operation S441 may be performed after operation S451 is performed.
[0079] The detection logic device 211 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy based on the received detection signal DET (S461). In other words, the transmission logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 based on information included in the detection signal DET.
[0080] The host 100 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the detection logic device 211, and the detection logic device 211 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the transmission logic device 220 (S471 and S472). In other words, the completion signal DONE transmitted by the host 100 may be received by the transmission logic device 220 via the detection logic device 211. However, the embodiment is not limited thereto, and since various types of receiving interfaces included in the electronic device 200 receive the completion signal DONE from the host 100, and the receiving interface having received the completion signal DONE transmits the completion signal DONE to the transmission logic device 220, operations S471 and S472 may be performed alternatively.
[0081] The transmission logic device 220 may receive the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET ( S481 ), and transmit a completion signal DONE in response to receiving the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET ( S491 ).
[0082] As mentioned above, according to Figure 6C , when the electronic device 200 receives the completion signal DONE from the host 100 (S471), the sending logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy in operation S461 to prepare to send the completion signal DONE to the host 100 in response (S491). Therefore, when the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND are received, by receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100 and then sending the completion signal DONE to the host 100, the sending logic device 220 can reduce the delay required to complete a series of data communication processes.
[0083] Fig. 7A is a flowchart of an operation of the electronic device 200 detecting the second strategy according to an embodiment, and Figure 7B 1 is a timing diagram for explaining the operation of the electronic system 10 according to the embodiment to send the completion signal DONE according to the detected second strategy. FIG. 6A to FIG. 6C The given description is omitted.
[0084] according to Fig. 7A, the electronic device 200 may detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy. The electronic device 200 may send a connection request signal to the host 100 to establish a connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 (S511). The host 100 may send a connection response signal in response to the received connection request signal (S512). For example, when the electronic system 10 performs communication according to the SAS protocol, the connection request signal may be OAF, and the connection response signal may be an open acceptance signal OPEN_ACCEPT.
[0085] The host 100 may transmit an initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may transmit information requested from the host 100 to the host 100 according to the initial command signal CMD (S521).
[0086] According to an embodiment, after transmitting the initial command signal CMD, the host 100 may not transmit the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200 within a specific time. When the electronic device 200 does not receive the completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD within a specific time after receiving the initial command signal CMD, the electronic device 200 may perform operation S522, in which the electronic device 200 may transmit the completion signal DONE to the host 100 (S522).
[0087] For example, after the electronic device 200 transmits information requested by an initial command signal CMD or a series of data DTA to the host 100 , the electronic device 200 may transmit a corresponding completion signal DONE to the host 100 .
[0088] The host 100 may send a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200 (S523). For example, after sending the initial command signal CMD in the first stage, the host 100 may send a completion signal DONE according to the initial command signal CMD to the electronic device 200, depending on whether the host 100 receives the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200. In other words, when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy, the host 100 may send a completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 after receiving the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200 in the first stage and the second stage.
[0089] By receiving the initial command signal CMD sent by the host 100 in the first stage and then sending the completion signal DONE, the electronic device 200 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy (S530). After the host 100 also sends the completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 in the second stage, the electronic device 200 can detect the sending of the completion signal DONE from the host 100 through the communication process. Therefore, the electronic device 200 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy in which the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 after the host 100 receives the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200.
[0090] according to Figure 7B In the second stage, when the sending logic device 220 receives the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET, the sending logic device 220 may send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 .
[0091] Similar to the above, the detection logic device 211 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy (S530) in which the host 100 sends the completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 after the host 100 receives the completion signal DONE from the electronic device 200. When the detection logic device 211 detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy, the detection logic device 211 can generate a detection signal DET and send the generated detection signal DET to the sending logic device 220 (S540).
[0092] According to an embodiment, the sending logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the second strategy based on the received detection signal DET (S550). In this case, the detection signal DET may include information about the signal transmission strategy of the host 100. Based on the information included in the detection signal DET, the sending logic device 220 may determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the second strategy. According to another embodiment, operation S550 may be omitted. The sending logic device 220 may also be programmed to send a completion signal DONE to the host 100 when both the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND are received. In this case, the sending logic device 220 may not need to determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 and reduce its processing time.
[0093] The trigger logic device 212 may transmit a condition signal COND to the transmission logic device 220 (S560). As described above, the condition signal COND may include a first condition signal COND1 and a second condition signal COND2 generated by the first sub-trigger logic device 213 and the second sub-trigger logic device 214, respectively. On the other hand, the order of operations S560 and S540 may be changed. In other words, the electronic device 200 may perform operations in the order of operations S560, S540, and S550.
[0094] The transmission logic device 220 may receive the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET ( S570 ), and transmit a completion signal DONE based on receiving the condition signal COND and the detection signal DET ( S580 ).
[0095] Although not shown, after the electronic device 200 transmits the data DTA in the second stage, the electronic device 200 may transmit a completion signal DONE according to the transmitted data DTA (S580). The host 100 may transmit a completion signal DONE to the electronic device 200 (S590) by or in response to receiving the completion signal DONE according to the data DTA transmitted by the electronic device 200. This may be because the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy.
[0096] Fig. 8A is a data flow chart of a data transmission method of the electronic system 10 when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy according to an embodiment, and Figure 8B is a diagram for explaining a data transmission method of the electronic system 10 when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy according to an embodiment.
[0097] refer to Fig. 8A , when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy, after establishing the connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200, the host 100 may send data 61 to the electronic device 200, and thereafter send a completion signal 62. In one example, the data 61 may include a specific number of data frames, and in another example, the data 61 may be data of a specific size (e.g., number of bits). In this case, when the electronic device 200 in the general configuration sends the completion signal 64 regardless of whether the electronic device 200 has received the completion signal 62 from the host 100 after sending the data 63, a time interval for performing half-duplex communication from the time point when the completion signal 64 is sent to the host 100 to the time point when the completion signal 62 is received from the host 100 may occur.
[0098] refer to Figure 8B, the electronic device 200 may perform the operation method according to the embodiment. After the host 100 sends the data 61, in response to the corresponding completion signal 62 sent by the host 100, the electronic device 200 may send a completion signal 64. In order to perform communication, it is not as Fig. 8A The electronic device 200 shown in FIG. 1 sends a completion signal 64 after sending data 63, but Figure 8B The electronic device 200 shown in FIG. 1 sends a completion signal 64 to the host 100 after receiving the completion signal 62, and the electronic device 200 may include a detection logic device 211, a trigger logic device 212, and a transmission logic device 220. Therefore, since the interval for performing half-duplex communication is reduced, the electronic device 200 can send more data 65 and data 66, and therefore, the data transmission amount and data transmission efficiency can be increased.
[0099] Fig. 9A and Fig. 9B They are data flow diagrams of a data transmission method of the electronic system 10 when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy according to an embodiment.
[0100] refer to Fig. 9A , after the electronic device 200 determines the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the first strategy, the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 may be changed to the second strategy due to various reasons such as physical reasons in the host 100 changed by the user, software changes (e.g., changes in the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 by the user). Even in this case, when the electronic device 200 operates by mistakenly assuming that the host 100 still uses the first strategy, a malfunction (e.g., deadlock) may occur in the case where neither the host 100 nor the electronic device 200 sends the completion signal DONE.
[0101] refer to Fig. 9B According to an embodiment, the electronic device 200 may detect that the host 100 sends the completion signal 72 only after the host 100 receives the data 71 and the corresponding completion signal 74. In other words, in the first stage, the electronic device 200 may pre-detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy, and in the second stage, the electronic device 200 may send the completion signal 74 based on the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND regardless of receiving the completion signal 72 from the host 100. Fig. 7A and Figure 7B A description thereof is given and therefore omitted here.
[0102] Fig. 10A and Fig. 10B They are sequence diagrams for explaining a data transmission method of the electronic system 10 when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy according to an embodiment.
[0103] refer to Fig. 10A , similar to the above Fig. 8A As described in, the electronic system 10 may have a half-duplex communication interval within a specific time period. For example, in the connection preparation stage, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may send a connection request signal and a connection response signal (S810 and S820), respectively. In the second stage of exchanging data, the host 100 may send the first data DTA1 to the electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may send the second data DTA2 to the host 100 (S831).
[0104] The electronic device 200 may send a second completion signal DONE2 to the host 100 (S841). After sending the second completion signal DONE2, although the second data DTA2 to be sent by the electronic device 200 to the host 100 may occur due to various reasons, the second data DTA2 may not be sent. In other words, only the host 100 included in the electronic system 10 may send the first data DTA1, and the electronic device 200 may perform half-duplex communication in which the second data DTA2 can no longer be transmitted. The host 100 may send the first completion signal DONE1 (S861) after all the specific number of data frames have been sent, and by exchanging the connection end signal, the established connection between the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may be terminated (S871).
[0105] according to Fig. 10B , similar to the reference above Figure 8B As described, the half-duplex communication interval of the electronic system 10 can be reduced. For example, in the connection preparation stage, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 can send a connection request signal and a connection response signal (S810 and S820), respectively. In the second stage of exchanging data, the host 100 can send the first data DTA1 to the electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 can send the second data DTA2 to the host 100 (S832).
[0106] The host 100 may transmit a first completion signal DONE1 to the electronic device 200 (S842). The electronic device 200 may transmit a second completion signal DONE2 after receiving the first completion signal DONE1 from the host 100 (S852).
[0107] and Fig. 10ACompared with the content in operation S832, the electronic device 200 can maintain the full-duplex communication method as in operation S832 as long as possible to improve data transmission efficiency until the electronic device 200 receives the first completion signal DONE1. In other words, according to an embodiment, the electronic device 200 can detect that the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the first strategy in the first stage, and only after receiving the first completion signal in the second stage (S842), the electronic device 200 can send the second completion signal (S852).
[0108] By exchanging connection end signals, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may terminate the established connection (S862). For example, according to the SAS protocol, the connection end signal may include a close signal CLOSE. The first completion signal DONE1 may represent a completion signal sent by the host 100 to the electronic device 200, and the second completion signal DONE2 may represent a completion signal sent by the electronic device 200 to the host 100. In addition, the first completion signal DONE1 may be a completion signal DONE1 according to the transmission of the first data DTA1, and the second completion signal DONE2 may be a completion signal DONE2 according to the transmission of the second data DTA2.
[0109] Fig.11 is a timing diagram for explaining a data transmission method of the electronic system 10 when the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy according to an embodiment. Fig. 10A and Fig. 10B Description given.
[0110] refer to Fig.11 In the connection preparation stage, the host 100 and the electronic device 200 may send a connection request signal and a connection response signal respectively (S810 and S820). In the second stage of exchanging data, the host 100 may send the first data DTA1 to the electronic device 200, and the electronic device 200 may send the second data DTA2 to the host 100 (S833).
[0111] The electronic device 200 may transmit the second completion signal DONE2 (S843) to the host 100. According to an embodiment, when the transmission logic device 220 included in the electronic device 200 receives the detection signal DET and the condition signal COND, in order to determine the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 as the second strategy and prevent the deadlock between the host 100 and the electronic device 200, the electronic device 200 may transmit the second completion signal DONE2 regardless of receiving the completion signal DONE from the host 100.
[0112] Since the signal transmission strategy of the host 100 is the second strategy, the host 100 may transmit the first completion signal DONE1 in response to receiving the second completion signal DONE2 ( S853 ).
[0113] The host 100 and the electronic device 200 may terminate the established connection by exchanging a connection end signal (S863).
[0114] Fig.12 is a block diagram for explaining an electronic system 20 according to an embodiment.
[0115] refer to Fig.12 , the electronic system 20 may include a central processing unit (CPU) 910, an initiator 920, a target 930, a bus 940 between the CPU 910 and the initiator 920, and a bus 950 between the initiator 920 and the target 930. The central processor 910 may perform overall control of the electronic system 20 and may be implemented by an application processor (AP). The initiator 920 and the target 930 may include various terminal devices that communicate via the SAS protocol, and the initiator 920 may include a host bus adapter (HBA). The target 930 may be implemented with various magnetic field devices and may be implemented, for example, by a solid state drive (SSD). The bus 950 may be implemented to communicate via the SAS protocol. The initiator 920 may be implemented by the above-mentioned host 100, and the target 930 may be implemented by the above-mentioned electronic device 200. Alternatively, the target 930 may be implemented by the host 100, and the initiator 920 may be implemented by the electronic device 200. For example, the target 930 may determine a signal transmission strategy of the initiator 920 , and differently transmit the completion signal DONE to the initiator 920 via the bus 950 for each of the first strategy and the second strategy.

A method for operating an electronic device configured to communicate with a host, the method comprising: In the first stage, when the electronic device sequentially receives an initial command signal from the host followed by a completion signal corresponding to the initial command signal, the electronic device detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host is a first strategy, wherein the initial command signal from the host is used to allow at least one data frame to be sent from the host to the electronic device in the second stage; In the second stage, according to the first policy detected by the electronic device, after the host sends at least one data frame to the electronic device, a first completion signal is sent from the host to the electronic device, wherein the first completion signal indicates that the host has completed sending the at least one data frame to the electronic device; as well as In the second stage, according to the first strategy detected by the electronic device, after the electronic device receives the first completion signal from the host, a second completion signal is sent from the electronic device to the host, wherein the second completion signal indicates that the electronic device has completed sending the at least one data frame to the host.
9. The operating method according to claim 8, wherein: The electronic device communicates with the host in a full-duplex communication mode in the second phase.
10. The operating method according to claim 8, wherein: The first completion signal is independent of the second completion signal.
11. The operating method according to claim 8 further includes when the electronic device sends a completion signal corresponding to the initial command signal to the host after receiving the initial command signal from the host in the first stage and before receiving the completion signal corresponding to the initial command signal from the host, the electronic device detects that the signal transmission strategy of the host is a second strategy different from the first strategy.
12. The operating method according to claim 11, further comprising sending a second completion signal from the electronic device to the host according to a second policy detected by the electronic device after the electronic device sends at least one data frame to the host; and After the host receives the second completion signal from the electronic device, a first completion signal is sent from the host to the electronic device.
13. The operating method according to claim 8, wherein: A second completion signal is transmitted from the electronic device to the host in response to a condition signal generated by the electronic device, wherein the condition signal is a signal requesting a transmission logic of the electronic device to transmit the second completion signal.
14. The operating method according to claim 13, wherein: The conditional signal generated in the electronic device suspends sending a second completion signal from the electronic device to the host until the electronic device receives a first completion signal from the host, and after the first completion signal is sent from the host to the electronic device, a second completion signal is sent from the electronic device to the host.
15. An operating method of a target device configured to perform communication with an initiator via a serially connected small computer system interface (SAS), the operating method comprising: Sending a connection request signal from the target device to the initiator; Sending a connection response signal from the initiator to the target device; After the target device receives the connection response signal from the initiator, the target device receives an initial command signal from the initiator, wherein the initial command signal instructs the target device to send designated information to the initiator; When a first completion signal is sent from the initiator to the target device within a specified time period according to the initial command signal after the initiator sends an initial command signal to the target device, a second completion signal is sent from the target device to the initiator in response to the first completion signal; as well as When a first completion signal is not sent from the initiator to the target device within a specified time period after the initiator sends an initial command signal to the target device, the second completion signal is sent from the target device to the initiator after expiration of the specified time period.
16. The operating method according to claim 15, wherein: A second completion signal is sent from the target device to the initiator according to a detection signal generated at the target device based on the initial command signal.
17. The operating method according to claim 15, wherein: When a connection response signal is received by the target device from the initiator, a connection between the initiator and the target device is established, and the initial command signal is a signal initially received by the target device from the initiator after the connection is established between the initiator and the target device.
