Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] A judgment device and a judgment program that judge whether or not post-processing instruction information for a post-processing device related to bookbinding is appropriate. BACKGROUND
[0002] There are various kinds of processing in post-processing (hereinafter, simply referred to as "post-processing") of printing related to bookbinding. For example, in the case of a paperback, there are post-processing such as cutting, folding, collating, back milling, binding, cover wrapping, and trimming. Moreover, devices corresponding to each post-processing (hereinafter, referred to as "post-processing device") are utilized. In recent years, although there is a demand for diversification of small quantities, it takes time to set the post-processing device according to the number of hands every time the task is changed. Therefore, in order to shorten the setting time in these post-processing devices, automation by a computer is being implemented.
[0003] Specifically, (1) a pre-processing device of printing (hereinafter, simply referred to as "pre-processing device") performs imposition in consideration of the specifications of a post-processing device of printing (hereinafter, simply referred to as "post-processing device"). (2) Next, the pre-processing device generates post-processing instruction information corresponding to the imposition, and converts it into a common format that the post-processing device can analyze. (3) The post-processing device performs post-processing according to the converted post-processing instruction information. Thereby, labor can be greatly saved before post-processing. As the format thereof, for example, JDF (Job Definition Format) is utilized in the bookbinding industry.
[0004] However, there is a case where the parameters of the post-processing instruction information do not conform to the specifications of the post-processing device, and the post-processing device cannot perform post-processing on the printed sheet. Therefore, a device that judges whether or not the generated post-processing instruction information conforms to the specifications of the post-processing device, and changes the imposition to conform to the specifications of the post-processing device in the case of non-conformance has been developed.
[0005] For example, the image processing device disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2010-79673 analyzes the imposition by an imposition information analysis unit, and acquires the specifications of the post-processing device by a function acquisition unit, and in the case where the post-processing device cannot perform post-processing on the sheet printed based on the imposition, changes the imposition to an imposition that can be post-processed by the post-processing device by an imposition information change unit. Thereby, the problem that the post-processing device cannot perform post-processing on the printed sheet is solved. SUMMARY
[0006] PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED BY THE INVENTION
[0007] However, there is a problem that even if imposition is changed in a manner that conforms to the specifications of a post-processing device, bookbinding is not properly performed. Specifically, for example, although post-processing is performed by a post-processing device in accordance with post-processing instruction information corresponding to the changed imposition, since the positional relationship of the cover and the book block in the imposition is improper, there is a possibility that post-processing is performed in a state in which the book block is exposed from the cover or the completion of the book is poor and the contents of the book are easily separated. That is, in the determination of whether or not the specifications of the post-processing device are conformed to, it is not possible to determine whether or not the post-processing instruction information is appropriate with respect to the completion of post-processing. Furthermore, in a case in which a very large number of types of bookbinding are performed by performing a plurality of post-processings using a plurality of post-processing devices that differ in function, it is difficult to consider all parameters of post-processing in the pre-processing in the bookbinding.
[0008] Therefore, an object of the present application is to provide a determination device and a determination program that can determine whether or not post-processing instruction information generated by a pre-processing device is appropriate with respect to the completion of post-processing in a post-processing device.
[0009] Means for solving the problem
[0010] A determination device related to bookbinding according to a first aspect of the present application includes a first storage section that stores a processing rule of a post-processing device that is defined based on a processing know-how of post-processing of printing; a first input section that accepts input of information related to update of the processing rule; an update section that updates the processing rule stored in the first storage section based on the input information related to the update; and a determination section that determines whether or not post-processing instruction information generated by a pre-processing device conforms to the processing rule.
[0011] The determination device can be configured such that the determination device further includes a second input section that accepts input of information related to change of specifications of the post-processing device, the update section updates the specifications of the post-processing device stored in the second storage section based on the input information related to the change of the specifications, and the determination section further determines whether or not the post-processing instruction information conforms to the specifications of the post-processing device.
[0012] The determination device can be configured such that, in a case in which the determination device is capable of communicating with the pre-processing device via a network and receives the post-processing instruction information from the pre-processing device, the determination section determines whether or not the received post-processing instruction information conforms to the processing rule.
[0013] It can also be configured in such a manner that, in a case where the judging device is able to communicate with the post-processing device via a network and receives information related to the change in the specifications from the post-processing device, the updating section updates the specifications of the post-processing device stored in the second storage section based on the information related to the change in the specifications.
[0014] In the judging device, the post-processing instruction information includes instruction information for at least one of, for example, a cutting section, a folding section, a collating section, a back milling section, a gumming section, a binding section, a cover wrapping section, and a trimming section.
[0015] In the judging device, the processing rule specifies at least one of, for example, (1) a maximum value and a minimum value of a difference in size between a cover and a book block, (2) a maximum value and a minimum value of a width of a cut-away area in a layout, (3) a maximum value and a minimum value of a difference between a back width and a back milling width, and (4) a configuration between pages in a layout.
[0016] The judging program according to the second aspect of the present application is a program that causes a computer to function as the judging device.
[0017] Effects of Invention
[0018] According to the present application, it is possible to judge whether or not the post-processing instruction information generated by the pre-processing device is appropriate with respect to completion of post-processing in the post-processing device. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0024] Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present application will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0025] Figure 1 The diagram shows a schematic representation of the entire book-making processing system using the determination device 1 described in this embodiment. The processing system includes a pre-processing unit 2, a printing unit 3, and a post-processing unit 4. The pre-processing unit 2, the printing unit 3, and the post-processing unit 4 may be either not physically connected or connected in a row.
[0026] The preprocessing unit 2 is configured with a computer or similar device and can communicate with the decision unit 1 via a second network N2. As described in detail below, when preprocessing instruction information is input, the preprocessing unit 2 performs imposition and generates printing instruction information and post-processing instruction information. The printing instruction information and post-processing instruction information are converted into a common format (e.g., JDF). The preprocessing unit 2 sends the post-processing instruction information to the decision unit 1 via the second network N2.
[0027] like Figure 2 As shown, the determination device 1 is composed of a computer C. The computer C has a communication unit C1, a control unit C2, a memory C3, and one or more auxiliary storage devices C4. The auxiliary storage device C4 is a computer-readable recording medium, such as a magnetic disk, optical disk, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, semiconductor memory, etc.
[0028] The auxiliary storage device may contain, for example, an OS (Operation System), a judgment program, a first database containing the processing rules of the post-processing device 4, and a second database containing the specifications of the post-processing device 4.
[0029] The control unit C2 is a processing circuitry equipped with a central processing unit (CPU). The CPU in the processing circuitry reads a program (e.g., a decision program) stored in an auxiliary storage device into memory and performs information processing / computation, thereby realizing the various functions described later. In other words, the decision program enables the computer C to function as a decision-making device 1.
[0030] When the judgment device 1 receives the post-processing instruction information J through the communication unit C1, it parses the post-processing instruction information J and determines whether the post-processing instruction information J meets the specifications of the post-processing device 4. The judgment performed by the judgment device 1 will be described in detail later.
[0031] The post-processing instruction information is regenerated by the pre-processing device 2 based on the judgment result in the case where the judgment result is not satisfactory. The regenerated post-processing instruction information is sent to the judgment device 1 again and is re-judged. The post-processing instruction information is handed over to the post-processing device 4 in the case where the judgment result is satisfactory. Further, the printing instruction information is handed over to the printing device 3 in the case where the judgment result of the post-processing instruction information is satisfactory, and is regenerated by the pre-processing device 2 in the case where the judgment result of the post-processing instruction information is not satisfactory.
[0032] The printing device 3 performs printing on the printing sheet in accordance with the printing instruction information when the printing instruction information is input. The printed sheet is handed over to the post-processing device 4.
[0033] The post-processing device 4 has processing sections (omitted from the drawing) such as a cutting section, a folding section, a collating section, a milling section, a binding section, a cover binding section, a trimming section, and a communication section (omitted from the drawing) related to book making. Each processing section can be independent or connected in a line. The post-processing device 4 can communicate with the judgment device 1 via the first network Nl. The cutting section includes a processing section that performs slitting, die cutting, flat cutting, or punch cutting. The binding section includes a processing section that performs saddle stitching or flat binding.
[0034] The post-processing device 4 processes the printed sheet handed over in accordance with the post-processing instruction information. The post-processing device 4 performs folding, collating, binding, gumming, cover binding, and cutting, for example, in the case where the processing object is a wireless-bound booklet.
[0035] Figure 3 is a functional block diagram of the pre-processing device 2 and a functional block diagram of the judgment device 1. As shown in Figure 3 The pre-processing device 2 has a pre-processing input section 20, a pre-processing storage section 21, a layout section 22, a printing instruction generation section 23, a post-processing instruction generation section 24, a format conversion section 25, and a communication section (omitted from the drawing).
[0036] The pre-processing input section 20 is input with the specifications of the printing device 3 and the specifications of the post-processing device 4. In addition, the specifications of the post-processing device 4 input to the pre-processing input section 20 can be different from the specifications of the post-processing device 4 stored in the second storage section 11 (refer to Figure 3The specifications of the post-processing device 4 differ among the printing devices 3. The specifications of the printing device 3 inputted and the specifications of the post-processing device 4 are stored in the pre-processing storage section 21. The printing device 3 and the post-processing device 4 can also be managed by, for example, "serial numbers" inherent to each device. The pre-processing input section 20 is also inputted with pre-processing instruction information. The pre-processing instruction information includes, for example, material data required for imposition of a print specification book, information related to the specifications of a product, and serial numbers of the printing device 3 and the post-processing device 4 used for the product.
[0037] The imposition section 22 performs imposition based on the pre-processing instruction information inputted to the pre-processing input section 20 and the specifications of the printing device 3 and the post-processing device 4 related to the serial numbers of the pre-processing instruction information stored in the pre-processing storage section 21. The imposition section 22 can also change, for example, the page size, the orientation, the size of the cutout, or the position of the page by assuming the creep width and the back milling width based on the pre-processing instruction information and the specifications of the printing device 3 and the post-processing device 4. Furthermore, the imposition section 22 can arrange the pages for the sheet and arrange information such as the control bar, the register mark, the folding mark, and the post code required for printing and post-processing. Next, the imposition section 22 outputs information of the completed imposition (hereinafter referred to as "imposition information") to the print instruction generation section 23 and the post-processing instruction generation section 24.
[0038] The print instruction generation section 23 generates print instruction information based on the pre-processing instruction information, the imposition information, and the specifications of the printing device 3 related to the serial numbers of the pre-processing instruction information stored in the pre-processing storage section 21. Next, the print instruction generation section 23 outputs the print instruction information to the format conversion section 25.
[0039] The post-processing instruction generation section 24 generates post-processing instruction information based on the pre-processing instruction information, the imposition information, and the specifications of the post-processing device 4 related to the serial numbers of the pre-processing instruction information. The post-processing instruction information also includes identifier information such as the serial number of the post-processing device 4 that processes the product. Next, the post-processing instruction generation section 24 outputs the post-processing instruction information to the format conversion section 25.
[0040] The format conversion section 25 converts the inputted print instruction information and the post-processing instruction information into a common format that can be read by the printing device 3 and the post-processing device 4.
[0041] The converted post-processing instruction information is transmitted to the judgment device 1 through the communication section and via the second network N2.
[0042] The judgment device 1 is provided with a first storage section 10, a second storage section 11, a judgment section 12, an input section 13, and an update section 14.
[0043] In the first storage section 10, the processing rule of the post-processing device 4 is databased and stored as a first database. The processing rule is a rule that is prescribed based on a processing know-how related to post-processing. Further, a processing rule in the processing rule that is the same as the specification of the post-processing device 4 can be excluded.
[0044] In the second storage section 11, the specification of the post-processing device 4 is databased and stored as a second database.
[0045] The judging device 1 is connected to the post-processing device 4, for example, by communication via the first network Nl.
[0046] The post-processing device 4 sometimes has the addition, deletion of functions added or deleted by hardware or software or both, thereby changing the specification. However, in the image processing device disclosed in the above-described Patent Literature 1, for example, the function acquisition unit cannot flexibly cope with the specification change caused by the version upgrade of the post-processing device 4 or the presence or absence of the selection device. Therefore, the post-processing device 4 is configured to transmit information related to the change of the specification to the judging device 1 when the specification is changed. As one example of the information related to the change of the specification, the information of the changed specification, the difference information between the pre-change and post-change specifications, and the like can be listed.
[0047] The input section 13 accepts the input of the information related to the change of the specification received by the communication section.
[0048] The update section 14 updates the second database based on the information related to the change of the specification that is input. Thereby, the specification of the post-processing device 4 referred to by the judging device 1 is kept in the latest state.
[0049] The processing rule is a rule that is prescribed based on a processing know-how related to post-processing, which is preferred for the completion of post-processing. The processing know-how is knowledge accumulated every day, and the processing rule is changed based on a new processing know-how. Further, by inputting the addition of a new processing rule, the change of an existing processing rule, and the deletion of an existing processing rule via the first network Nl, the processing rule stored in the first database is changed.
[0050] Specifically, in a case where the input section 13 accepts the information related to the update of the processing rule of the post-processing device received by the communication section, the update section 14 updates the processing rule of the first storage section 10 based on the input information.
[0051] The information related to the change of the processing rule of the post-processing device includes, for example, at least any one of the addition of a new processing rule, the change of an existing processing rule, and the deletion of an existing processing rule.
[0052] For example, processing know-how can be accumulated based on the settings of the post-processing device 4 during past post-processing and the state of the finished product processed by those settings. For example, if the completion of the book production performed through post-processing is satisfactory, the settings of the post-processing device 4 related to that completion can be added to the processing know-how as preferred settings. Moreover, existing processing rules can be updated or new processing rules can be added based on the added processing know-how. Furthermore, for example, if the completion of the book production performed through post-processing is unsatisfactory, the settings of the post-processing device 4 related to that completion can be added to the processing know-how as unpreferred settings. Moreover, existing processing rules can be updated or deleted in a way that the unpreferred settings fall outside the scope of the processing rules.
[0053] Whether a product's completion is satisfactory can be determined, for example, based on the yield rate, or by calculating the strength of finished products judged as good and basing the determination on the results. Furthermore, the completion of the product can be judged for each type or thickness of paper.
[0054] like Figure 3 As shown, the processing rules can also be input, for example, by a maintenance manager P using a personal computer C10, etc. The input processing rules are sent to the judgment device 1 via the first network N1, and the input unit 13 accepts the input processing rules. The input processing rules can also be accumulated and updated in the first database, for example, by the update unit 14. The processing rules specify, for example, whether the difference between the size of the cover and the book block is within a predetermined range, whether the width of the cut area in the imposition is within a predetermined range, whether the difference between the spine width and the milled spine width is within a predetermined range, and whether the arrangement between the pages in the imposition is a predetermined arrangement. The processing rules can also specify at least one of the above rules.
[0055] like Figure 4 As shown, for example, as a rule in the folding section, (1) the cover width is specified to be more than 1 mm larger than the book block width and less than the book block width + 3 mm. Furthermore, as a rule in the cutting section, (2) the width of the cover before fine cutting is specified to be more than 1 mm larger than the width of the cover after fine cutting and less than the width of the cover after fine cutting + 5 mm. Furthermore, as a rule in the spine milling section, (3) the spine width is specified to be more than 1 mm larger than the milled spine width and less than the milled spine width + 3 mm.
[0056] Such processing rules differ depending on the specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4, and thus are stored for each post-processing apparatus 4 by means of an inherent identifier of the post-processing apparatus 4 such as a serial number, or for each identical specification, or both.
[0057] The judging section 12 judges whether the received post-processing instruction information conforms to the specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4. Hereinafter, the description will be made with reference to Figure 5
[0058] (1) The judging section 12 refers to the post-processing instruction information to specifically designate which post-processing apparatus 4 is to be the target (S51).
[0059] (2) Next, it is judged whether the post-processing instruction information conforms to the specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4 with reference to the specifications of the specifically designated post-processing apparatus 4 in the second database (S52). Specifically, the judging section 12 judges whether or not the processing that the post-processing apparatus 4 cannot perform is included. For example, the judging section 12 judges that the post-processing instruction information does not conform to the specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4 in the case where the post-processing apparatus 4 cannot perform the indentation in the number of times indicated by the post-processing instruction information. Further, the judging section 12 judges, for example, whether the post-processing instruction information includes a parameter that exceeds the movable range of the post-processing apparatus 4. The judging section 12 is automatically updated in accordance with the change in the specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4 by the second database, and thus can judge the post-processing instruction information based on the latest specifications of the post-processing apparatus 4.
[0060] (3) The judging section 12 judges whether the received post-processing information conforms to the processing rules of the post-processing apparatus 4 (S53). The judging section 12 judges, for example, whether the width of the cover before trimming included in the post-processing instruction information is within the range of the processing rules, whether the relative positions of the entire pages in the imposition are within the range of the processing rules, and the like. Further, the judging section 12 transmits the result of the judgment to the pre-processing apparatus 2 in the case where it is judged that the post-processing instruction information received from the pre-processing apparatus 2 does not conform to at least either of the specifications and the processing rules of the post-processing apparatus 4.
[0061] (4) In the case where the judging section 12 receives the result of the judgment that the post-processing instruction information does not conform to the specifications or the processing rules of the post-processing apparatus 4 or both from the judging apparatus, the pre-processing apparatus 2 re-imposes based on the result of the judgment (S54). At this time, the imposition section 22 can change the size of the cutout of each page or move the position of the page based on the result of the judgment and in accordance with the previous imposition, or can change the arrangement with respect to the register marks, fold marks, post codes, and the like of the sheet. The imposition section 22 outputs the imposition information to the post-processing instruction generation section 24.
[0062] (5) The post-processing instruction generation section 24 re-generates the post-processing instruction information (S55). The post-processing instruction generation section 24 can also generate the post-processing instruction information based on the pre-processing instruction information, the imposition information, and the specifications of the post-processing device 4 and the judgment result of the judging section 12 stored in the pre-processing storage section 21. Next, the post-processing instruction generation section 24 outputs the post-processing instruction information to the format conversion section 25.
[0063] (6) The re-generated post-processing instruction information is sent to the judging device 1 after being format-converted by the format conversion section 25 (S56).
[0064] (7) The post-processing instruction information is handed over to the post-processing device 4 when it is judged by the judging section 12 to be in conformity with the specifications of the post-processing device 4 and the processing rules (S57).
[0065] Thus, since the post-processing instruction information is changed in a manner judged by the judging device 1 to be in conformity with the specifications of the post-processing device 4 and the processing rules, the situation in which the post-processing is stopped due to the reception of post-processing instructions that cannot be executed by the post-processing device 4 is prevented, and a well-finished book can be implemented regardless of the skill level of the operator of the post-processing device 4.
[0066] The above describes one embodiment of the judging device 1 to which the present application is applied, but the present application is not limited to the above-described embodiment. The present application can be implemented, for example, in the following manner.
[0067] The first database and the second database can also be stored, for example, by other storage units physically separated from the computer C. In this case, the computer C accesses the first database and the second database by communicating with the storage units using wireless or wired communication.
[0068] The post-processing instruction information judged by the judging section 12 can include only the instruction information for at least one of the cutting section, the folding section, the collating section, the back milling section, the gumming section, the binding section, the cover wrapping section, and the trimming section, and the post-processing instruction information for all the processing sections can not be judged.
[0069] The judging device 1 can also notify the judgment result together with the parameters of the specifications and the processing rules to which the post-processing instruction information is not in conformity or both of them when it is judged by the judging section 12 that the post-processing instruction information is not in conformity with the specifications of the post-processing device 4 or the processing rules or both of them.
[0070] Further, the judging device 1 can also notify the case of how to improve the imposition together with the judging result in the case where the post-processing instruction information is judged by the judging section 12 to be not in conformity with the specifications or processing rules of the post-processing device 4 or both.
[0071] The change of the specifications of the post-processing device 4 can also be inputted by the maintenance manager P using the personal computer C10, for example, as the processing rules. In this case, the change of the specifications of the post-processing device 4 inputted is transmitted to the judging device 1 via the first network N1, and the input section 13 accepts the input of the change of the specifications of the post-processing device 4.
[0072] The input section 13 functions as both the input section that accepts the input of the processing rules of the present application and the input section that accepts the input of the change of the specifications of the post-processing device 4, but the two input sections can also be configured separately.
[0073] Further, in the above-described embodiment, the case where both the first storage section 10 that stores the processing rules of the post-processing device 4 in a database and the second storage section 11 that stores the specifications of the post-processing device 4 in a database are provided, and the judging of whether the post-processing instruction information is in conformity with the specifications and processing rules of the post-processing device is performed is exemplified and described, but is not limited to this example. For example, a configuration where either one of these storage sections is provided can also be provided, and the judging of the post-processing instruction information can be performed based on either one of the specifications or processing rules.
