[0039] The present invention generally relates to a device with a multi-channel high-power magnetic coil driving module, wherein the multi-channel high-power magnetic coil driving module includes magnetic coil driving modules from one channel to multiple channels, and each magnetic coil driving module includes its magnetic coil, which can be assembled from one magnetic coil or a combination of multiple magnetic coils connected in series or in parallel.
[0040] The present invention generally relates to a method for generating a high-power magnetic field using a magnetic coil driving module and a magnetic coil thereof.
[0041] According to embodiments of the present invention, the power supply for the device will come from the grid, a generator, a battery bank, a renewable energy source or any other energy source.
[0042] The magnetic coil drive module of each channel will be powered from the main energy storage (main capacitor bank) or from multiple energy sources that will charge its local energy storage (local capacitor bank).
[0043] Each magnetic coil driver channel output will be connected to a coil that generates the magnetic field.
[0044] All magnetic coil driver channels will work simultaneously at the same time under the control of the master controller, but each magnetic coil driver channel can have a different set of parameters, which means that each magnetic coil driver channel can deliver different output magnetic energy.
[0045] According to an embodiment of the present invention, each magnetic coil driver channel can operate with different parameters at the same time.
[0046] Each magnetic coil driver channel can operate at a different frequency and have a different current output parameter setting, which means that each channel magnetic coil also has a different magnetic field.
[0047] According to an embodiment of the present invention, all magnetic coil driver channels may be connected to one magnetic coil coupled to their outputs, or to multiple magnetic coils coupled to their outputs, or a combination of a single magnetic coil and multiple magnetic coils coupled to their outputs.
[0048] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the magnetic coil may be an air-core coil, a Tesla coil, or any type of coil that may be connected in series or in parallel, or a combination of both.
[0049] The output current and voltage of each magnetic coil driver channel will be sampled and sent to the main controller as monitoring feedback.
[0050] The signal of the magnetic stimulation is taken as the solution of an ordinary differential equation involving a self-oscillating system with a stable limit period.
[0051] The method of controlling the output self-oscillating current and magnetic field by changing the starting conditions of the differential equation means that the change of the controlled voltage charging the high-voltage capacitor on the self-oscillating circuit before each pulse causes the output current and magnetic field of each specific channel of the magnetic coil driving module to be affected.
[0052] Reference will now be made to several embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are shown in the accompanying drawings. Where feasible, similar or identical reference numerals may be used in the accompanying drawings and may indicate similar or identical functions. These drawings depict embodiments of the present invention for illustrative purposes only. Those skilled in the art will readily recognize from the following description that alternative embodiments of the structures and methods shown herein may be employed without departing from the principles of the present invention described herein.
[0053] The following discussion is intended to provide a brief, general description of a suitable multi-channel system configuration in which the present invention may be implemented. Although the present invention will be described in the general context of a magnetic coil drive module operating in conjunction with capacitors, coils, and switches, those skilled in the art will recognize that the present invention may also be implemented in combination with other magnetic coil drive modules.
[0054] Figure 1 The overall control frame according to the embodiment of the present invention is schematically shown. Fig.10The overall control block diagram includes a master control 11 and a plurality of local controllers as indicated by #01, #02, #03, #04 to #nn, each of which is adapted to control a corresponding magnetic coil driver module. The master control 11 and the local controllers may communicate via a control bus 12. In addition, the sampled output current and voltage of each magnetic coil driver module are provided to the master controller as monitoring feedback received by each local control.
[0055] Figure 2 A multi-channel system 20 for generating a high-power magnetic field with a single charger and multiple magnetic coil drive modules according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The configuration 20 includes a charger 21, a main capacitor bank (MCB) 22, and multiple magnetic coil drive modules (as indicated by #01, #02, #03 to #nn), wherein each magnetic coil drive module includes a corresponding coil (as indicated by L01, L02, L03 to Lnn). The charger 21 is configured to charge the MCB 22, and the charger 21 can be powered by power provided from the grid or a suitable battery. The charger 21 can include an enabler (as indicated by EN), which connects / disconnects the charger 21 to the power source. The MCB 22 is configured to provide a voltage suitable for each magnetic coil drive module. For example, the MCB 22 can output 560 volts from a 52mF / 600V capacitor.
[0056] Figure 3 An example of a multi-channel system 30 for generating a high-power magnetic field according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The system 30 includes a plurality of chargers 201, 202, 203, and 204, a plurality of capacitor banks (CBs) #01, #02, #03, #04, and #05, and a plurality of magnetic coil drive modules #01 to #05 with different coil combinations L01-L05. The system 30 shows some possible system design configurations, as shown below:
[0057] - Charger 201 charges CB#01 and is powered by a 12V DC battery. CB#01 supplies power to magnetic coil drive module #01 configured to drive coil L01;
[0058] - Charger 202 charges CB#02 and is powered by a 24V DC battery. CB#02 supplies power to magnetic coil driver module #02 which is configured to drive coil L02. In this example, coil L02 consists of two parallel coils;
[0059] - Charger 203 charges CB#03 and is powered by a 48V DC battery. CB#03 supplies power to magnetic coil drive module #03 which is configured to drive coil L03. In this example, coil L03 combines two coils in parallel with a third coil in series; and
[0060] - Charger 204 charges CB#04 and CB#05 simultaneously, and charger 204 can be powered by a battery or a grid (50 / 60Hz). In this configuration, CB#04 supplies power to magnetic coil drive module #04 configured to drive coil L04, and CB#05 supplies power to magnetic coil drive module #05 configured to drive coil L05. In this example, coil L04 and coil 05 are each composed of two coils connected in series.
[0061] System 30 shows an example of possible configurations and combinations of elements such as chargers, capacitor banks, magnetic coil drive modules, and coils. However, as will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, other multi-channel system designs including different configurations and combinations of such elements may be used depending on the requirements of each specific application for generating high power magnetic fields. For example, a multi-channel system for applying magnetic fields to the human body for therapeutic electromagnetic coil pulsed fields.
[0062] Figure 4 A multi-channel system 40 for simultaneously generating controlled output magnetic pulses according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The system 40 includes three magnetic coil drive modules #01 to #03 having an X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis coil combination (as shown by coils L01 to L03). In this configuration, each of the coils L01 to L03 includes two "floating" isolated coils (i.e., non-grounded coils) connected in series. The CB 42 is configured to power the three magnetic coil drive modules #01 to #03, and the charger 41 is suitable for charging the CB 42 with power supplied by the power grid. The main controller 43 is configured to operate in the same manner as described above with respect to Figure 1 The three magnetic coil drive modules #01 to #03 are controlled in a similar manner as described, and monitoring feedback is received from the output of each magnetic coil drive module (i.e., from the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis). Due to the monitoring feedback, each charging pulse can be controlled, i.e., the voltage and other parameters between pulses can be adjusted. The high voltage output capacitor will be charged to a predetermined voltage value by controlling the charging time of the high voltage output capacitor, which is controlled by a switch timing controller (e.g., such as by Fig.10 The IGBT switch shown by SW1 in FIG.
[0063] The simultaneously controlled output magnetic pulses at the X, Y and Z axes of the system 40 can be used for different applications. For example, it can be used as part of a multi-channel deep TMS brain stimulation device that provides multiple stimulation channels through which stimulation can be delivered simultaneously deep in the patient's brain, each channel can have different parameters, in the case of 3 channels using coils on the X, Y and Z axes located around the patient's head, which allows the magnetic focus to be moved to any 3D point in the patient's brain volume.
[0064] Figure 5 A multi-channel system 50 for simultaneously generating wireless charging according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The system 50 includes a main controller 51, a charger 52 (e.g., 2.2Kw), an MCB 54, a magnetic coil cooling system 53, and one or more magnetic coil drive modules 55 to 57. Each magnetic coil drive module includes a transmitting coil (Tx coil) adapted to wirelessly generate controlled output magnetic pulses suitable for being received by a corresponding receiving coil (Rx coil) (such as the coils represented by numerals 55a to 57a and numerals 55b to 57b, respectively).
[0065] The receiving coil (Rx coil) can be implemented as part of a dedicated device or object (such as part of a car, smartphone, etc.) to enable wireless charging of the object or device. For example, the magnetic coil drive module 55 can generate 1kw for high-power applications (such as wirelessly charging the car battery 552 of the truck 550 via the car charger 551). Similarly, the magnetic coil drive module 57 can generate 800w for high-power applications, such as wirelessly charging the batteries of vehicles such as cars, electric bicycles, electric scooters, etc. (for example, charging the car battery 572 of the car 570 via the car charger 571). According to an embodiment of the invention, the system also includes a charging end mechanism configured to stop wireless charging when the target charging voltage is reached. The magnetic coil drive module 56 can generate 10w for relatively low-power applications, such as wireless fast charging of a smartphone 560.
[0066] Figure 6 A multi-channel system 60 for simultaneously generating controlled output magnetic pulses that form an anti-gravity panel for a future vehicle or platform is schematically shown in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The system 60 includes a charger powered by 12V DC from a battery, an MCB, a main control, and a plurality of magnetic coil drive modules. In this embodiment, the coils are deployed at the bottom of the vehicle / platform in such a way that the magnetic pulses generate a force vector toward a surface below the vehicle / platform (e.g., toward a surface of a road). As shown in FIG. Figure 6 As shown in the graphic portion of , while some coils are active (generating pulses), other coils are inactive (not generating pulses) at the same time. This alternating mode of operation combined with the formation of the coils and the force vectors generated by the coils leads to the application of anti-gravity platforms. Coils assembled at a certain angle to the platform surface (as shown by coils L01 to L04 and L13 to L16) can be used to generate power vectors that will allow the platform to move backwards / forwards. In order to achieve the floating effect of the platform, the system will need to generate a magnetic field that takes into account the mass of the platform and the load that the platform may contain.
[0067] Figure 7 The main capacitor bank (MCB) of the multi-channel simultaneous high-power magnetic coil driver according to the present invention is schematically shown. The MCB comprises a plurality of 26mF / 300V capacitors C11 to C18 with similar characteristics, which are arranged in two connected parallel groups (a first group C11 to C14 and a second group C15 to C18) forming 52mF / 600V, wherein each group comprises resistors R11 and R12 (100kohm / 2w) respectively. This arrangement of the MCB will allow the desired maximum voltage and capacity of the MCB to be achieved.
[0068] Figure 8 A main high voltage capacitor bank (MHCB) that can be used for a multi-channel simultaneous high power magnetic coil driver according to the present invention is schematically shown. The MHCB includes a plurality of 1900μF / 500V capacitors C11 to C14 having similar characteristics and arranged in a manner to form 475μF / 2000V, wherein each capacitor is arranged in parallel with a 150kohm / 2w resistor (as represented by R11 to R14, respectively). This arrangement of the MHCB will allow the desired maximum voltage and capacity of the MHCB to be achieved. Each capacitor has its own high voltage (HV) capacitor charger controlled with a separate charging voltage, so each HV capacitor unit can be charged to a different voltage value, wherein the output of the MHCB is the sum of the voltages of all HV capacitor units (as shown in the figure, the HV capacitor bank consists of 4 HV capacitor units). In this example, the maximum possible output voltage is 2000V, which is the sum of all 4 HV capacitor units (each HV capacitor unit is a maximum of 500V). In practice, to maintain a long life of the HV capacitors, each HV capacitor unit will be limited to a maximum of 450V (ie, less than the practical maximum), so in this case the maximum output voltage will be 1800V.
[0069] Fig. 9 A standard double coil (eg, as used in Deep TMS, such as D70 Alpha flat coil), the double coil can be used as the coil at the output of each magnetic coil drive module of the present invention, through which electromagnetic pulses are generated. For example, each coil is formed of 9 turns and can be made of a single copper wire (e.g., 2.0×6.2 mm). In this embodiment, the double coil is 15μHy, the inner dimension of each coil is approximately 56.2 mm, the outer dimension is approximately 36.1 mm, and the average radius is approximately 36.1 mm. As will be understood by those skilled in the art, the coil can be a single coil, a double coil, or any other combination of coils. The coil can have a closed loop of any shape (circular, square, triangular, or any other closed loop shape).
[0070] As is known in the art, the calculation of the coil magnetic field at a certain distance "r" from the ring surface can be obtained by applying the standard mathematical equation for the magnetic field of a closed loop, using the average coil radius of a loop multiplied by the number of closed loops, while taking into account the material parameters of the coil.
[0071] Fig.10 Schematically shows an embodiment showing a switched capacitor, which is generally similar to the switch capacitor because it has a MHCB (i.e., a high voltage capacitor bank C2 (475 μF / 2000 V) connected to a controlled HV charger) and discharges to a resonant capacitor C1 (175 μF / 3200 V) via a switch SW1. Figure 2 In the configuration shown in FIG. 1 , when switch SW2 is closed, the capacitor can be controlled to discharge (15 μHy) to the resonant coil L1. When SW1 (for example, SW1 can be an IGBT or other suitable switching element) is closed (i.e., the closing duration of SW1 acts as a controlled pulse width length pulse), C1 acts to transiently store energy during energy transfer from capacitor bank C2.
[0072] exist Fig.10 In the circuit shown in , the charger continuously supplies charging current to the high voltage capacitor bank C2, keeping its voltage close to the selected maximum value. The resonant capacitor C1 is charged to the required level as a function of the switching duration of SW1. When the switch SW2 is closed, current is caused to flow in the resonant coil L1, so a controllable pulse can be delivered by the closure of the switch SW2.
[0073] In the first graph, t1>5τ (long pulse width pulse), where the voltage level of C2 is significantly reduced from the V1 level to a very low voltage level V3. Due to such a long pulse, the voltage of C2 (i.e., VC2) is significantly reduced, so the voltage of C1 (i.e., VC1) increases from the V2 level to the voltage level V3.
[0074] In the second graph, t2 < τ (short pulse width pulse), where the voltage level of C2 slightly decreases from the V1 level to the voltage level V4. Due to this short pulse, the voltage of C1 (i.e., VC1) slightly increases from the V2 level to the voltage level V5. The final voltage V4 is related to the capacitance ratio between C1 and C2.
[0075] Fig.11 It is shown Fig.10, which indicates the voltage time relationship of the switched capacitor. C2 is charged from t0 to t1, between t2 and t3, capacitors C1 and C2 are shorted via switch SW1, so that both reach the same final voltage at t4, SW2 is closed at t4 and a resonant pulse 120 is generated, and at t6 the system begins charging C2 again. During the resonant pulse 120, capacitor C1 is charged relative to the other side of SW1 on C2 (i.e., as Fig.10 The voltage level on C2 is 1580V, which results in a differential voltage of, for example, 2880V on SW1 (ie, as shown in FIG. 130 ). Fig.10 140). Such considerations must be made when selecting the switching element SW1.
[0076] Fig.12 is a graph showing the amplification of the resonant voltage and current of the resonant pulse 120 (approximately Fig.11 1 to 15). At t=0, the voltage across capacitor C1 is the zero condition of the differential equation, and the current is zero. Closing SW2 causes a resonant pulse 120, the current acts as a sine wave, and the voltage phase is shifted by 90 degrees relative to the current phase (as shown in the figure).
[0077] All of the above will be better understood through the following illustrative and non-limiting examples.
[0078] Fig.13 An example of a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment pulse shape that can be generated by the magnetic coil driver of the present invention is shown. In this example, each pulse is 140 joules, the system generates 20 pulses per second (20Hz), and each "sequence" has 40 pulses, where the system provides a "sequence" every 20 seconds (2 seconds active and 18 seconds inactive), resulting in a rate of 2800KJ / s (i.e., 140J X 20). The top graph shows the "sequence" on a time scale, while the bottom graph shows a zoomed-in view of the 40 pulses of each sequence, where the pulse width of each pulse is 342μs and the duration between each pulse in the sequence is 50ms. The bottom graph is in the same Fig.12 The resonant voltage and current are shown in a similar manner. These graphs reflect the deep TMS treatment curves for each channel (ie, the output of each magnetic coil driver module of the present invention by which the magnetic pulses are generated and applied via the coils).
[0079] Fig.14is a graph showing the operating mode of the main charger of an MCB (e.g., a deep TMS charging curve) according to an embodiment of the invention. At the top portion, a load charging cycle of 40 pulses at 20 Hz is shown, where the duration of the sequence of 40 pulses is 2 seconds. The charging shape of the capacitor bank (52mF / 600V) is shown in the middle portion, where the charging time from 0V to 520V is 9.9 seconds. As shown, during the discharge of the MBC (i.e., when the pulse sequence of magnetic pulse cycles is generated, in this example a period of 2 seconds), the voltage drops exponentially to 260V, and then when the discharge of the MBC stops at the end of the pulse sequence, it takes more than 5 seconds to "climb" to 520V again (i.e., charge the MBC back to 520V). The bottom portion shows that charging is prohibited.
[0080] Fig.15 FIG. 2 is a diagram showing a single HV charger according to an embodiment of the invention (eg, as described with respect to FIG. 2 ). Figure 8 Graphs of the behavior of the output pulses versus input current for one of the four HV chargers on each magnetic drive module are described above for the HV capacitors. A single HV charger charges a corresponding HV capacitor (one of the four HV capacitors). The topmost graph (i.e., Charging Cycle) shows the output pulse cycle (i.e., pulse train). The second graph (i.e., Charging Shape) shows a zoomed-in view of the charging cycle shape, where, due to the constant current, a controllable charging duration will set the desired HV capacitor voltage. In addition, this controllable duration can be varied from pulse to pulse (this can be controlled by the main controller). The charging voltage of each individual HV capacitor enables the desired maximum voltage and capacity of the MHCB to be achieved. As previously described, each capacitor has its own high voltage (HV) capacitor charger with independent charging voltage control, so each HV capacitor unit can be charged to a different voltage value, where the output of the MHCB is a function of all HV capacitor units (as described above with respect to Figure 8 As described, where the HV capacitor bank consists of 4 HV capacitor units).
[0081] Fig.16 The implementation of one channel of the magnetic TMS switch model 70 according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The TMS switch model 70 includes: four HV chargers #1 to #4, which are powered by a main charger capacitor bank (52mF / 600V) and have a voltage of 150V to 600V on their inputs; a control switch module 71; a magnetic coil drive module 72; a dual coil handpiece (for example, which includes Fig. 9The switch (such as described above with respect to the dual coil) and the voltage and current sensing arrangement for providing monitoring feedback is accomplished by an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) acting as SW1 and a switch combination (e.g., SCR+SSR, SCR+SCR, SCR+diode or other switch combination) acting as SW2. Fig.10 The control switch module 71 includes an IGBT driver for controlling the operation mode of SW1 and an SCR+SSR driver for controlling the operation mode of SW2. The control switch module 71 also includes a voltage sensing unit suitable for receiving output voltage feedback and a current sensing unit suitable for receiving output current feedback from the dual-coil handpiece. For safety reasons, the control switch module 71 also includes a charge termination module and may also include a dump control module for operating the HV capacitor dump switch.
[0082] As used herein, the terms "for example," "such as," and "as" are intended to introduce non-limiting examples. Although certain references are made to certain example system components or services, other components and services may also be used, and / or the example components may be combined into fewer components and / or divided into other components.
[0083] As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, the arrangement depicted in the accompanying drawings results in a system capable of providing a multi-channel magnetic coil driver that can enable new directions in devices and methods based on such drivers (particularly, those requiring simultaneous control of output magnetic pulses).
[0084] It should be understood that the order of operations shown as represented by the blocks has been selected for convenience and clarity only, unless otherwise indicated.
