Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a wearable system for attaching an object to a user's body part, and more particularly to a magnetic wearable device. Background Technology

[0002] People with disabilities, especially those with hand and foot disabilities, may have difficulty in normal daily activities. Summary of the Invention

[0003] In view of the foregoing background, in some embodiments, the aim is to provide a system that assists the user in certain daily physical tasks.

[0004] Accordingly, an exemplary embodiment is an attachment system for facilitating attachment of an object to a user's body part, the attachment system comprising: (a) a magnetic retainer adapted to be fastened to the object; (b) a fastener for securing to the user's body part; and (c) a magnetic adapter rotatably connected to the fastener. When the retainer is in use and attached to the object, and the fastener is attached to and near the user's body part, the magnetic attraction between the retainer and the adapter causes the object to attach to the body part, and the rotation between the adapter and the fastener allows the user to use the object comfortably and effectively.

[0005] According to another embodiment, an attachment system for attaching an object to a hand is provided, the attachment system comprising: (a) a holder adapted to fasten to the object, the holder comprising: a housing having a front end and a rear end, the housing having an inner surface; and a first magnet mounted on the housing; (b) an adapter comprising: a frame having a connecting surface for engaging with the inner surface of the housing; and a second magnet mounted on the frame; (c) a fastener for securing to the hand; and (d) a hinge configured to connect the adapter to the fastener such that the adapter and the fastener are rotatably coupled. When the adapter is near the holder, the object is attached to the hand by the magnetic force between the first magnet and the second magnet, and rotation between the adapter and the fastener allows the hand to use the object comfortably and effectively.

[0006] In some exemplary embodiments, the first magnet mounted on the housing defines a first plane. The first magnet also has a first magnetic force perpendicular to the first plane. The second magnet mounted on the frame defines a second plane. The second magnet also has a second magnetic force perpendicular to the second plane. The retainer and the adapter are shaped such that when the first magnet and the second magnet are properly aligned, the retainer and the adapter can reversibly interlock with each other, thereby preventing accidental separation during use due to slippage between the first plane and the second plane.

[0007] Other exemplary embodiments will be described herein.

[0008] Various advantages exist in the various embodiments. For example, in some embodiments, the attachment system is designed to guide the user's finger to be correctly aligned and attached to the robotic hand used for the user's hand rehabilitation. The fastener can remain attached to the finger even when the user's hand is closed, and the user's finger can be easily attached to the robotic hand by the magnetic attraction between the retainer and the adapter when they are engaged in the correct position. The interlocking of the retainer and the adapter ensures that the finger is securely fixed to the robotic hand during use.

[0009] In some embodiments, by applying a release force in the correct direction, the adapter's latch helps to easily separate a hand or body part from the object.

[0010] In some embodiments, the attachment system can be used to facilitate the attachment of a user's hand to any object, allowing the user to effectively and comfortably use the object to perform daily tasks even if they cannot use their hands to grasp and hold it normally. In some other embodiments, the attachment system can be used to facilitate the attachment of a user's body part to an object, making it easier for the user to attach to or detach from the object. In some embodiments, without the assistance of the attachment system, the user cannot independently attach to the object. In some embodiments, the object is a knee brace, and the user's body part is the knee. Attached Figure Description

[0026] It should be understood that terms such as “front,” “middle,” “rear,” “side,” “length,” “width,” “inner,” “outer,” “internal,” and “external” as used herein describe reference points only and do not limit the invention to any particular orientation or configuration. Furthermore, terms such as “first,” “second,” and “third” identify only one of the various parts, components, and / or reference points disclosed herein, and likewise do not limit the invention to any particular configuration or orientation.

[0027] In some embodiments, an attachment system is provided for facilitating attachment of an object to a user's body part. The attachment system includes: (a) a magnetic retainer adapted to be fastened to the object; (b) a fastener for securing to the user's body part; and (c) a magnetic adapter rotatably connected to the fastener. When the retainer is in use and attached to the object, and the fastener is attached to and near the user's body part, the magnetic attraction between the retainer and the adapter causes the object to attach to the body part, and the rotation between the adapter and the fastener allows the user to use the object comfortably and effectively.

[0028] In some embodiments, the user's body part can be any part of a human or animal's body, such as the hand, arm, leg, neck, waist, knee, ankle; or the toes of a limb, such as fingers or toes. In some embodiments, the user's body part includes amputated parts of the body.

[0029] In some embodiments, the attachment system further includes a receiver mounted on the object, the receiver being adapted to connect the retainer and the object.

[0030] In some embodiments, the object may be a robotic hand, and the retainer may be directly or indirectly fastened to the robotic hand, for example, adapted to connect to a receiver mounted on a finger assembly of the robotic hand.

[0031] In some embodiments, the object may be a tool, and the retainer may be directly attached to a receiver suitable for retaining the tool, for example by using adhesives, glue, or other mechanical means.

[0032] In some embodiments, the object is a knee brace, and the user's body part is the knee.

[0033] In some embodiments, the holder has a first magnet, and the adapter has a second magnet. The first magnet defines a first plane and also has a first magnetic force perpendicular to the first plane. The second magnet defines a second plane and also has a second magnetic force perpendicular to the second plane. When the first and second magnets are properly aligned, the adapter and the holder can reversibly interlock with each other and prevent accidental separation during use due to slippage between the first and second planes. In some embodiments, the holder and the adapter include engagement structures with complementary shapes to facilitate proper alignment and prevent slippage when the holder and the adapter are engaged and interlocked.

[0034] In some embodiments, the retainer includes an inner surface for engaging the adapter and a protrusion projecting outward from the inner surface, and the adapter includes a recess configured to receive the protrusion. The retainer has a front end and a rear end aligned along a longitudinal axis. The protrusion extends on the inner surface along a transverse axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and is positioned near the rear end of the retainer, and the recess has a shape complementary to the protrusion. When the retainer and the adapter interlock, sliding movement along the longitudinal axis is prevented. In some embodiments, the protrusion may be a flange.

[0035] In some embodiments, the retainer has a cavity formed on its inner surface, and the adapter has a protrusion extending outward from the adapter, the protrusion being configured to mate with the cavity. In some embodiments, the cavity is located near the rear end of the retainer. The cavity may be a hole, an opening, or a recess.

[0036] In some embodiments, the retainer includes at least one engaging arm extending outward from an inner surface at its front end. Each engaging arm includes a curved section at its distal end that bends toward the inner surface. The adapter includes at its end at at least one engaging edge configured to mate with the at least one engaging arm, and the shape of the engaging edge is configured to match the curved section of the engaging arm.

[0037] In some embodiments, the attachment system has a hinge configured to connect the adapter to a fastener to allow rotational movement between the adapter and the fastener. In some embodiments, the adapter further includes at least one latch configured to facilitate separation of the adapter from the retainer upon receiving a release force.

[0038] Those skilled in the art will understand that mating structures (such as protrusions, flanges, recesses, notches, slots, holes, grooves, cavities, projections, and ribs) can have various shapes and sizes. For example, a flange can project outwards while a recess can recess inwards, but the reverse is also possible. As long as the two parts are adapted to allow them to mate or match, they are included within the scope of this embodiment. For clarity, when two parts "mate" or "match" with each other, the two parts are connected in a fixed position.

[0039] In the following description, the same reference numerals are used to describe the same parts in different figures.

[0040] Now for reference Figure 1A , Figure 1B and Figure 1C These illustrate an attachment system 100 according to an example embodiment. The attachment system 100 includes a retainer 110, an adapter 120, a fastener 130, and a hinge 140. In some embodiments, the retainer 110 is also referred to as a magnetic retainer, and the adapter 120 is also referred to as a magnetic adapter.

[0041] The retainer 110 includes a housing 1120 having a front end 1123, a rear end 1124 opposite to the front end 1123, an inner surface 1121, an outer surface 1122 opposite to the inner surface 1121, and two retainer sidewalls 1125 and 1129, which together define a hollow internal space therein. The length of the inner surface 1121 defines the longitudinal axis 1127 of the retainer (in...). Figure 1A (shown as dashed line 1127), and the front end 1123 and rear end 1124 are aligned along the longitudinal axis 1127 of the retainer. The width of the inner surface 1121 defines a retainer transverse axis 1128 on the inner surface 1121 that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 1127 of the retainer (in... Figure 1A (shown as dashed line 1128 in the image).

[0042] The retainer 110 includes a first magnet 1170 mounted on the housing 1120. In this embodiment, the first magnet 1170 is rectangular in shape. The first magnet chamber 1126 (e.g.) Figure 1B(As shown) is disposed within the hollow interior space of the housing 1120 to accommodate the first magnet 1170. The first magnet chamber 1126 is configured in the shape of a rectangular block to accommodate the first magnet 1170 so that it is securely fitted inside the housing 1120. The first magnet chamber 1126 further divides the hollow interior space into three sections: a front hollow section 1112 near the front end 1123, a middle hollow section serving as the first magnet chamber 1126, and a rear hollow section 1114 near the rear end 1124. Each hollow section has an open end on its outer surface 1122. The size and shape of the chamber are for illustrative purposes only and can be of any shape and size.

[0043] A first magnet 1170 mounted on the housing 1120 defines a first plane. The first magnet 1170 also has a first magnetic force perpendicular to the first plane. In this embodiment, the inner surface 1121 and the outer surface 1122 are parallel to the first plane.

[0044] In this embodiment, the retainer 110 further includes a protrusion 1130 projecting outwardly and vertically from the inner surface 1121. The protrusion 1130 is positioned near the rear end 1124 of the housing 1120. In this embodiment, the protrusion 1130 is a flange extending across the width of the inner surface 1121 parallel to the transverse axis 1128 of the retainer.

[0045] The retainer 110 has a cavity 1140 formed on the inner surface 1121. The cavity 1140 can be a hole, a notch, a groove, or a recess. The cavity 1140 is positioned near the rear end 1124 of the housing 1120. The cavity 1140 is arranged side by side with the protrusion 1130 and is positioned closer to the rear end 1124 than the protrusion 1130. In this embodiment, the cavity 1140 is a hole configured to extend through the inner surface 1121 in the shape of an inverted frustum, such that its base forms a larger opening on the inner surface 1121, and the other end opposite the base forms a smaller opening connecting to the rear hollow section 1114. In some other embodiments, the cavity 1140 can be configured into other shapes and sizes according to user preferences, such as square, rectangular, triangular, elliptical, semi-elliptical, and other polygonal and non-polygonal shapes.

[0046] In this embodiment, the retainer 110 further includes two engaging arms 1151 and 1152, which are positioned at the front end 1123 and extend outward from the inner surface 1121. The two engaging arms 1151 and 1152 are identical in shape and configured in a hook shape. Each engaging arm has a distal end remote from the inner surface 1121 and includes a curved section that bends toward the inner surface 1121 at the distal end. In this embodiment, engaging arms 1151 and 1152 include curved sections 1153 and 1154, respectively. Each curved section is generally V-shaped, with its two inner surfaces bent and joined together in the direction toward the front end 1123. A gap 1155 is defined between the engaging arms. The size of the gap 1155 is determined to allow the hinge 140 to rotatably move within the gap (described in detail later).

[0047] The retainer 110 is adapted to be fastened to an object (not shown). In this embodiment, the retainer 110 has two side ribs 1160 and 1162 that project outwardly from retainer sidewalls 1125 and 1129 along the retainer's transverse axis 1128, respectively. The side ribs are positioned at the edges of the retainer sidewalls adjacent to the outer surface 1122 and extend along the entire length of the retainer sidewall. The side ribs 1160 and 1162 serve as means for facilitating attachment or fastening of the retainer 110 to an object (not shown). In some embodiments, the retainer 110 does not have side ribs, and the retainer 110 can be directly or indirectly connected to an object by using adhesives, glue, or other mechanical fastening arrangements, for example, by introducing additional shapes into the retainer 110 that can mate with complementary shapes in the object designed to be attached to the retainer 110.

[0048] The adapter 120 includes a frame 1220. The frame 1220 has an engaging end 1223, a separating end 1224 opposite to the engaging end 1223, a connecting surface 1221, and a generally flat adapter contact surface 1222 opposite to the connecting surface 1221 (e.g., ...). Figure 2C As shown), and two adapter sidewalls 1225 and 1229, which together define the hollow chamber therein. The length of the coupling surface 1221 defines the adapter's longitudinal axis 1227 (in...). Figure 1B (shown as dashed line 1227), and the engaging end 1223 and disengaging end 1224 are aligned along the adapter's longitudinal axis 1227. The width of the engaging surface 1221 defines an adapter transverse axis 1228 on the engaging surface 1221 that is perpendicular to the adapter's longitudinal axis 1227 (in... Figure 1B (Seen as dashed line 1228). A coupling surface 1221 is provided for engaging with the inner surface 1121 of the housing 1120.

[0049] The adapter 120 includes a second magnet 1270 mounted on a frame 1220. In this embodiment, the second magnet 1270 is rectangular in shape, with the same width and length dimensions as the first magnet 1170. The second magnet chamber 1226 (e.g.) Figure 1B (As shown) is disposed within the hollow chamber of frame 1220 to accommodate the second magnet 1270. The second magnet chamber 1226 is configured in the shape of a rectangular block to accommodate the second magnet 1270 so that it is securely fitted inside frame 1220. The second magnet chamber 1226 further divides the hollow chamber into three sections: a first hollow compartment 1212 near the engagement end 1223, a second hollow compartment serving as the second magnet chamber 1226, and a third hollow compartment 1214 near the separation end 1224. Each hollow compartment has an open end on the connecting surface 1221. As with the configuration of retainer 110, the shapes of these compartments described above are for illustrative purposes only, and the actual shape of the adapter can be designed according to the user's needs.

[0050] A second magnet 1270 mounted on the frame 1220 defines a second plane. The second magnet 1270 also has a second magnetic force perpendicular to the second plane. In this embodiment, the coupling surface 1221 and the adapter contact surface are parallel to the second plane.

[0051] In this embodiment, the adapter 120 further includes a recess 1230 configured and shaped to receive a protrusion 1130 of the holder 110 when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are properly aligned. The recess 1230 is positioned near the separating end 1224, corresponding to the position of the protrusion 1130 of the holder 110 when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are interlocked. In this embodiment, the recess 1230 is defined by two notches 1230A and 1230B formed respectively on the opposing adapter sidewalls 1225 and 1229. The notches 1230A and 1230B are aligned along the adapter's transverse axis 1228 and extend perpendicularly from the engagement surface 1221 toward the opposing adapter contact surface, such that when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are engaged and properly aligned, the protrusion 1130 can be suitably inserted into the recess 1230.

[0052] The adapter 120 has a protrusion 1240 positioned near the separating end 1224 of the frame 1220 and configured to engage with the cavity 1140 when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 interlock. In this embodiment, the protrusion 1240 extends perpendicularly from the inside of the adapter contact surface 1222 toward the coupling surface 1221. The protrusion 1240 protrudes from the open end of the coupling surface 1221 through a third hollow compartment 1214. In some other embodiments, the protrusion 1240 extends outward from the coupling surface 1221. The protrusion 1240 includes an end 1242 having a shape and size that substantially conforms to the corresponding cavity 1140, such that the protrusion 1240 can be suitably inserted into the cavity 1140 when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are engaged to facilitate proper alignment.

[0053] The adapter 120 also includes two engagement edges 1251 and 1252, which are positioned at the engagement end 1223 and configured to engage with engagement arms 1151 and 1152 respectively when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are in use. In this embodiment, both engagement edges 1251 and 1252 are configured in the shape of ridges. Each ridge is generally V-shaped, with its two outer surfaces bent and joined together at the engagement end 1223. The V-shaped ridges are configured to match the V-shaped bends of each engagement arm. A groove 1255 is provided at the engagement end 1223 between the two engagement edges 1251 and 1252 to receive the hinge portion 140 and allow the hinge portion 140 to be rotatably moved within the groove 1255 (described later).

[0054] In this embodiment, the adapter 120 has two latches 1260 positioned near the separated end 1224 of the frame 1220 (e.g., Figure 1A (as shown) and 1262 (as shown) Figure 1C (As shown). Latches 1260 and 1262 protrude outward from the adapter sidewalls 1225 and 1229 along the adapter's transverse axis 1228, respectively. These latches are disposed on the adapter contact surfaces 1222 of these sidewalls (as shown). Figure 2C (As shown) at the adjacent edge. In some other embodiments, the adapter 120 may have only one latch on each side of the frame 1220. These latches are configured to facilitate the separation of the interlocked adapter 120 from the retainer 110 upon receiving a release force.

[0055] Fastener 130 is provided in attachment system 100 for securing to a user's body part. In some embodiments, fastener 130 may be a strap, band, loop, strip, or belt. In this embodiment, fastener 130 is configured to wrap around the user's fingers (e.g., ...). Figure 4B and Figure 5CThe finger bandage (as shown) has a first bandage end 1310 and a second bandage end 1320 opposite to the first bandage end (as shown). Figure 1A (As shown). The strap contact platform 1332 is located at the midpoint between the first strap end 1310 and the second strap end 1320 of the finger strap. The fastener 130 includes two strap pins 1311 and 1312 positioned at the first strap end 1310. Each strap pin is generally shaped as a rectangular bar with a notch in the middle. The fastener 130 also includes seven strap holes 1321 arranged parallel to each other from the second strap end 1320 toward the strap contact platform 1332. Each strap hole 1321 is configured in the shape of a rectangular bar to receive a strap pin 1311 or 1312, such that the strap pin can be securely inserted into the strap hole, thereby forming an annular structure of the fastener 130 to encircle the finger. The radial size of the annular fastener 130 can be adjusted by fitting the strap pins 1311 and 1312 into different strap holes 1321 to suit various finger sizes of different users.

[0056] The hinge 140 of the attachment system 100 is configured to connect the adapter 120 to the fastener 130, such that the adapter 120 and the fastener 130 are rotatably connected. Referring now... Figure 1C The hinge portion 140 includes an elongated and curved hinge body 1410 having a rotatable end 1412 and an opposing fixed end 1414. The rotatable end connects to the engagement end 1223 of the adapter 120, and the fixed end connects to the strap contact platform 1332 of the fastener 130. A lateral axis 1228 (e.g., along the adapter's transverse axis) is provided. Figure 1B A hinge shaft (not shown) extends from the hinge body 1410 to connect the rotatable end 1412 of the hinge body 1410 to the engagement end 1223 of the frame 1220. A pair of hinge shaft holes 1422 are provided through the side surface of the frame 1220 near the engagement end 1223 to allow the hinge shaft to be inserted into the frame 1220 and pass through the rotatable end 1412 of the hinge body 1410 along the adapter transverse axis 1228. The hinge shaft defines a rotation axis parallel to the adapter transverse axis 1228, allowing the hinge body 1410 and the fastener 130 connected to the hinge body 1410 to rotate about this rotation axis. A groove 1255 at the engagement end 1223 provides space for receiving the hinge 140, allowing the hinge 140 to be rotatably moved within the groove 1255 about the rotation axis. In some other embodiments, the hinge 140 may be a joint or pivot configured to connect the adapter 120 and the fastener 130 to enable rotational movement in different ways.

[0057] For ease of description, all subsequent figures with the same reference numerals refer to the same parts and will not be repeated in the description of each figure.

[0058] Figure 2A , Figure 2B and Figure 2C An attachment system 100 is shown when the retainer 110 and adapter 120 engage and interlock with each other during use. Magnetic attraction between a first magnetic force and a second magnetic force allows the first magnet 1170 and the second magnet (not shown) to be magnetically attached in a properly aligned manner, and prevents sliding movement between the first and second planes. When the first and second magnets are properly aligned, the retainer 110 and adapter 120 are shaped such that they can reversibly interlock with each other, and the inner surface (not shown) of the retainer 110 and the engagement surface (not shown) of the adapter 120 are adapted to face each other.

[0059] like Figures 2A to 2C As shown, the protrusion 1130 of the retainer 110 is configured to suitably engage with the recess 1230 of the adapter 120 when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are engaged and properly aligned. When the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are not properly aligned, the protrusion 1130 and the recess 1230 also prevent the retainer 110 from magnetically attaching to the adapter 120. When the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are interlocked, the engagement between the protrusion 1130 and the recess 1230 prevents sliding movement along the longitudinal axis 1127 of the retainer.

[0060] like Figure 2A As shown, the protrusion 1240 of the adapter 120 is configured to fit comfortably into the cavity 1140 of the holder 110 when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are engaged and properly aligned. The end of the protrusion 1240 passes through a hole forming the cavity 1140, thereby securing the relative position of the holder 110 and the adapter 120 when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 interlock with each other, and preventing sliding movement along the longitudinal axis 1127 and the transverse axis 1128 of the holder. When the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are not properly aligned, the protrusion 1240 and the cavity 1140 also prevent the holder 110 from magnetically attaching to the adapter 120, such that the adapter 120 can only engage and interlock with the holder 110 in one possible position.

[0061] The engagement edges 1251 and 1252 of the adapter 120 are configured to mate with the curved sections 1153 and 1154 of the engagement arms 1151 and 1152, respectively, when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are engaged and properly aligned. As described above and as... Figures 2A to 2CAs shown, each engagement edge is a V-shaped ridge configured to match the V-shaped bend section of each engagement arm. The engagement between these engagement edges and these engagement arms guides the correct positioning of the adapter 120 relative to the retainer 110, prevents sliding movement along the longitudinal axis 1127 of the retainer, and also prevents the adapter 120 from accidentally separating from the retainer 110 in a direction perpendicular to the first and second planes when the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are properly aligned.

[0062] As previously described, adapter 120 and fastener 130 are connected to each other via hinge 140. Hinge 140 allows uniaxial rotational movement about a rotation axis parallel to the adapter's lateral axis (not shown), such that fastener 130 can be closed / opened relative to adapter 120 at an angle from 0 degrees to 180 degrees or greater. In some embodiments, fastener 130 can be closed / opened relative to adapter 120 from 0 degrees to 90 degrees. Figure 2B The adapter 120 and fastener 130 are shown in a closed state, in which the strap contact platform 1332 contacts the adapter 120. Figure 2C The adapter 120 and fastener 130 are shown in an open state, in which the strap contact platform 1332 is opened at an angle relative to the adapter 120, and the adapter contact surface 1222 is not in contact with the strap contact surface 1330. When the retainer 110 and the adapter 120 are interlocked during use, the gap 1155 between the two engaging arms 1151 and 1152 provides space for receiving the hinge body 1410 and allows the hinge 140 to rotate about the axis of rotation in a direction toward the front end 1123 of the retainer 110, thereby enabling the adapter 120 and fastener 130 to be switched from a closed state to an open state.

[0063] like Figure 2C As shown, the strap contact platform 1332 is a generally rectangular housing with a flat strap contact surface 1330, which faces the adapter contact surface 1222 when the adapter 120 and the fastener 130 are in contact with each other. The strap contact platform 1332 includes a metal plate 1334 housed within the housing. In this embodiment, the metal plate 1334 is rectangular in shape. When the metal plate 1334 and the second magnet 1270 mounted on the frame 1220 (e.g., ...) are in contact, the strap contact platform 1332 is a generally rectangular housing with a flat strap contact surface 1330 facing the adapter contact surface 1222 when the adapter 120 and the fastener 130 are in contact with each other. Figure 1B When the fasteners 130 and 120 are brought close together, there is a slight magnetic force between them, such that when the fasteners 130 are not in use (e.g., when the fasteners 130 are not fastened to a part of the user's body), the strap contact platform 1332 will be magnetically attached to the adapter 120, thereby keeping the adapter 120 and the fasteners 130 in a closed state and preventing accidental rotational movement of the hinge 140.

[0064] Latches 1260 and 1262, located near the separating end 1224 of frame 1220, are configured to facilitate the separation of the interlocked adapter 120 from retainer 110 upon receiving a release force. The release force is applied to these latches in a direction opposite to retainer 110 and perpendicular to both the first and second planes. In some embodiments, the release force is the only way to separate adapter 120 from retainer 110, since no constraint is specified in this dimension. In some other embodiments, retainer 110 may not include latches, and the release force may be applied directly to separating end 1224 in a direction opposite to retainer 110 to separate adapter 120 from retainer 110.

[0065] Figure 3A The attachment system 100 is shown as viewed from the front end 1123 of the holder 110 when the holder 110 and the adapter 120 are properly aligned and interlocked during use. Figure 3B As shown Figure 3A The attached system 100 shown is in cross-sectional view through axis AA. Figure 3B A close-up view of four circular portions 310, 320, 330, and 340 of the attachment system 100 is also shown. Circular portion 310 shows the engagement between the engaging arm 1151 of the retainer 110 and the engaging edge 1251 of the adapter 120. Circular portion 320 shows the connection of the first magnet 1170 and the second magnet 1270, which are magnetically attracted to each other. Circular portion 330 shows the engagement between the protrusion 1130 of the retainer 110 and the recess 1230 of the adapter 120. Circular portion 340 shows the engagement between the cavity 1140 of the retainer 110 and the protrusion 1240 of the adapter 120. These four circular portions illustrate engagement structures in the attachment system that, when the adapter and retainer are properly aligned, are designed to restrict movement of the adapter 120 relative to the retainer 110 and prevent accidental separation of the adapter 120 from the retainer 110 during use due to external forces other than release forces.

[0066] Figure 4A A retainer 110 is shown attached to a finger assembly 411 of a robotic arm 410 according to an example embodiment of the attachment system. In this embodiment, the attachment system further includes a receiver 420 mounted on the finger assembly 411 of the robotic arm 410. The receiver 420 is configured to receive the retainer 110 and connect the retainer 110 to the robotic arm 410.

[0067] Figure 4B It shows Figure 4AA close-up view of the circular portion 412. The receiver 420 has an elongated body 4210, the shape of which is configured to accommodate the retainer 110. In this embodiment, the elongated body 4210 is generally rectangular in shape. The elongated body 4210 has a front side 4211, a back side (not shown) opposite the front side, an open end 4212, a closed end 4213 opposite the open end 4212, and two side sides 4214 and 4215, which together define a space therein for accommodating the retainer 110. The front side 4211 is generally uncovered, such that when the retainer 110 is placed in the elongated body 4210, the inner surface 1121 of the retainer 110 faces the front side 4211 and is exposed to the outside of the receiver 420. A pair of sliding guides 4220 are disposed on the opposing inner portions of the side sides 4214 and 4215. Figure 4B Only one guide rail 4220 is shown on the inner portion of side 4215, but it should be understood that another guide rail exists on the opposite side of the inner portion of side 4214. This pair of guide rails 4220 is adapted to pass through the side ribs of the retainer 110 (not shown in this figure, but in…). Figure 2C (As shown in the diagram) The retainer 110 is slidably received by inserting it into the pair of guide rails 4220 via the open end 4212, such that the retainer 110 slides into the receiver 420 and is secured to the robotic hand 410. During use, the retainer 110 can slide along the length of the pair of guide rails 4220 to accommodate different finger lengths of different users. A screw lock 4230 is provided at the open end 4212 of the elongated body 4210 to securely mount the receiver 420 to the finger assembly 411 of the robotic hand 410 and to prevent the retainer from sliding out of the elongated body 4210 via the open end 4212 once the retainer 110 is placed in the elongated body.

[0068] Figure 4B The adapter 120 and the annular fastener 130 attached to the user's finger 430 are also shown. In this embodiment, the fastener 130 is a finger strap whose radial size can be adjusted by fitting strap pins (not shown) into different strap holes 1321 to suit various finger sizes of different users, as previously described.

[0069] In some embodiments, the robotic hand 410 can be used as a powered assistive device for a user's hand rehabilitation. The finger assembly 411 can be a finger exoskeleton that is actuated to flex and extend the user's fingers for different types of training exercises.

[0070] In some embodiments, the robotic arm 410 may have five finger assemblies, and each finger assembly is fitted with a receiver configured to receive the retainer 110. Each of the user's fingers is secured using fasteners 130, such that each finger can be attached to the corresponding finger assembly of the robotic arm 410 via an interaction between the adapter 120 and the retainer 110.

[0071] Now refer to the above. Figure 4B as well as Figure 1A , Figure 1B and Figure 1C The operation of the attachment system is described. During use, the fastener 130 is first fastened to the user's finger 430. The user can then move the finger 430 toward the retainer 110 fixed in the receiver 420 and insert the engagement edges 1251 and 1252 of the adapter 120 into the curved sections of the engagement arms 1151 and 1152, respectively. The engagement of the engagement edges and engagement arms guides the adapter 120 toward the retainer 110, and the magnetic force between the first magnet 1170 and the second magnet 1270 magnetically attaches the adapter 120 to the retainer 110. The engagement surface 1221 of the adapter 120 engages with the inner surface 1121 of the retainer 110. As previously described, when the retainer 110 and adapter 120 are not properly aligned, the protrusion 1130, recess 1230, protrusion 1240, and cavity 1140 physically prevent the adapter 120 and retainer 110 from magnetically attaching to each other, thus eliminating the possibility of the adapter 120 and retainer 110 engaging in an undesirable orientation or position. The only way the adapter 120 can snap into place is when the retainer 110 and adapter 120 are perfectly aligned such that the retainer and the adapter can reversibly interlock with each other. When the adapter 120 and retainer 110 are properly aligned, the engagement between the protrusion 1130 and recess 1230, the engagement between protrusion 1240 and cavity 1140, the engagement between engagement edges and engagement arms, and the magnetic attraction between the first magnet 1170 and second magnet 1270 prevent the adapter from sliding relative to the retainer and prevent the adapter 120 from accidentally separating from the retainer 110 due to external force during use. The engagement and interlocking of the interlocking retainer 110 and adapter 120 facilitates the attachment of the robotic arm 410 to the user's finger 430. When the finger 430 is attached to the robotic arm 410, the rotational movement between the adapter 120 and the fastener 130 facilitated by the hinge 140 makes finger movement easier and allows the robotic arm 410 to comfortably and effectively induce adduction / abduction movements of the finger.

[0072] When a user intends to detach finger 430 from robotic arm 410, the user may apply a release force on one of the latches 1260 or 1262 of adapter 120 in a direction away from retainer 110 to detach adapter 120 from retainer 110. This will allow finger 430 to rotate outward away from retainer 110 and allow adapter 120 to move out of the bent section of the engagement arm of retainer 110.

[0073] The above embodiments are particularly useful for patients who have difficulty using their fingers, especially those whose fingers are deeply flexed into a fist and who are unable to extend their fingers on their own (e.g., stroke patients).

[0074] Figure 5A , Figure 5B and Figure 5C An attachment system according to another example embodiment is shown, which facilitates the attachment of a writing instrument 510 to a user's finger 530. In this embodiment, the writing instrument 510 is a pen. A receiver 520 is provided to connect a holder 110 to the writing instrument 510. In this embodiment, the receiver 520 is a cylindrical tube adapted to hold the writing instrument 510. The receiver 520 includes a disc-shaped pivot 540 disposed on its outer surface. The holder 110 includes a hole 550 located near the front end 1123 of the housing 1120. The pivot 540 is configured to mate with the hole 550 to connect the holder 110 to the receiver 520. The pivot 540 also defines a pivot axis 542 perpendicular to the plane of the inner surface 1121 of the housing 112, such that the holder 110 connected to the receiver 520 can rotate about the pivot axis 542.

[0075] In another embodiment, the retainer 110 is directly attached to the receiver 520 by adhering the outer surface of the retainer 110 to the receiver 520. The receiver 520 is aligned along the retainer lateral axis of the retainer 110.

[0076] During use, the writing instrument 510 is first inserted and secured in the receiver 520. The fastener 130 is fastened to the user's finger 530. (The sentence is incomplete and requires further context.) Figure 5CIn the illustrated embodiment, fastener 130 is secured to the user's index finger. The user can then move finger 530 toward holder 110 and engage adapter 120 with holder 110 in a properly aligned manner. The engagement and interlocking of holder 110 and adapter 120 facilitates attachment of writing instrument 510 to the user's finger 530, allowing the user to perform writing tasks using writing instrument 510 even if a normal grip is not possible. Rotational movement of holder 110 about pivot axis 542 allows the user to adjust the orientation of writing instrument 510 relative to the finger position for comfortable and efficient use of writing instrument 510, or to adapt the writing instrument to different writing postures.

[0077] In some other embodiments, the outer surface 1122 of the holder 110 may also be cylindrical, allowing the holder 110 itself to be directly attached to the pen. The outer surface 1122 of the holder 110 may also be any other shape to interact with other objects designed to be attached to the body.

[0078] Therefore, exemplary embodiments of the invention have been fully described. Although this description relates to specific embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with variations of these specific details. Therefore, the invention should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein.
