AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing data center cooling systems are inefficient in managing the heat of high-performance electronic components and cannot effectively cope with the differences in heat load and cooling conditions between day and night, resulting in reduced server reliability.

Method used

A cooling system including an inlet port, an outlet port, a main loop, and a bidirectional buffer loop was designed. The buffer loop includes an air section and a fluid section. The air pressure is regulated by temperature and pressure sensors to achieve fluid storage and release, so as to adapt to the heat load changes in different scenarios.

Benefits of technology

It improves the efficiency and reliability of the cooling system, enhances its availability in different scenarios, simplifies system control, and adapts to various cooling conditions.

Abstract

A cooling system includes: an inlet port and an outlet port to be connected to one or more electronic devices; a main loop; and a buffer loop. The main loop includes a heat exchanger connected to the inlet port and the outlet port, wherein the heat exchanger is used to receive fluid from the inlet port, exchange heat generated by the electronic devices and carried by the fluid, and return the fluid to the electronic devices via the outlet port. The buffer loop is connected to the inlet port and the main loop. The buffer loop includes a buffer unit and a first valve, the first valve being used to control the inflow of fluid into the buffer unit for storage and to discharge fluid from the buffer unit to follow into the main loop for heat exchange. The buffer unit includes an air section for storing air and a buffer section for storing a portion of the fluid. The air section is used to regulate the air pressure based on a temperature obtained from a temperature sensor disposed on the heat exchanger and a fluid pressure obtained from a pressure sensor disposed near the inlet port.
