[0002] This application claims priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2020-0138675, filed on October 23, 2020, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] This invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing bags for secondary batteries, and more specifically, to an apparatus for manufacturing bags for secondary batteries that can reduce or eliminate bag wrinkles that occur when the bag base material is unevenly sucked during the bag molding process due to imbalance or asymmetry between the mold and the demolding device. Background Technology
[0004] In recent years, rising energy prices due to fossil fuel consumption have increased concerns about environmental pollution, making the demand for eco-friendly alternative energy sources an indispensable factor in future life. Therefore, research is underway on various power generation technologies such as solar, wind, and tidal power, and energy storage devices such as batteries are also attracting significant attention for more efficient use of the generated electricity.
[0005] Furthermore, with technological advancements and the increasing demand for battery-powered electronic mobile devices and electric vehicles, the demand for batteries as an energy source is rapidly increasing. Therefore, much research has been conducted on batteries capable of meeting diverse needs.
[0006] In particular, in terms of materials, there is a high demand for lithium secondary batteries such as lithium-ion batteries and lithium-ion polymer batteries, which have advantages such as high energy density, discharge voltage and output stability.
[0007] Based on the shape of the battery casing, secondary batteries are classified into cylindrical batteries and prismatic batteries in which the electrode components are embedded in a cylindrical or prismatic metal casing, and pouch batteries in which the electrode components are embedded in a pouch-shaped casing made of aluminum laminate.
[0008] Figure 1 An example of a pouch-type secondary battery is shown. The pouch-type secondary battery 1 includes an electrode assembly 20 and a pouch 10. Electrodes and separators are alternately stacked in the electrode assembly 20, and the electrode assembly is inserted into the pouch 10. Additionally, the pouch includes cup-shaped portions 11 and 12, each cup-shaped portion 11 and 12 having a recessed shape to directly receive the electrode assembly. The cup-shaped portions of the pouch are provided with a cup-shaped portion 11 for the left pouch and a cup-shaped portion 12 for the right pouch, surrounding the electrode assembly on both sides. A peripheral portion 14 of the pouch is formed around the periphery of each cup-shaped portion of the pouch to seal the pouch from the outside.
[0009] In particular, Figure 1The bag shown can be a V-shaped bag 10. According to related technology, the bag is manufactured in a flat form. However, recently, the bag can be manufactured as a V-shaped bag so that the bag can be manufactured neatly to prevent bulges from appearing on the bag's appearance during folding. Furthermore, such a V-shaped bag can be manufactured using equipment for manufacturing bags, which is formed as a molding die.
[0010] However, when the mold used to manufacture this type of V-shaped bag is used to mold the bag, wrinkles are caused on the bag because the lower mold and the demolding device are unbalanced or asymmetrical with each other during the bag molding process, resulting in uneven suction of the bag base material into the bag.
[0011] Figure 2 This is a view showing the state of bag folds occurring between the cup-shaped part 11 of the left pocket and the cup-shaped part 12 of the right pocket (see [reference]). Figure 1 and Figure 2 (dashed line). Summary of the Invention

[0038] First Implementation Method
[0039] Figure 3 This is a front view of an apparatus for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to the present invention, with the punch and demolding device away from the lower mold before the bag is molded. Figure 4 This is a front view of an apparatus for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to the present invention, with the punch and the ejector close to the lower die to mold the bag. Figure 5 These are front and plan views of the lower mold in an apparatus for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 5 In the diagram, the top image is a plan view (the bottom view when viewed from above), and the bottom image is a front view. Figure 6 These are front and bottom views of a demolding device and a punch in an apparatus for manufacturing bags for secondary batteries according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 6 In the image above, it is a front view, and in the image below, it is a bottom view.
[0040] Reference Figures 3 to 6 According to a first embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus 100 for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery includes a lower mold 110, a punch 150, and a demolding device 130.
[0041] A lower mold 110 may be positioned below to mold the bag, and may have a bottom surface 114 on its upper part, on which the bag is placed. Additionally, the lower mold 110 has receiving grooves 111 and 112 on the bottom surface 114 on which the bag is placed for molding a cup-shaped component of the bag. A punch 150 may be configured to mold the cup-shaped component of the bag while being inserted into the receiving groove of the lower mold 110. A release agent 130 may be configured to press a peripheral portion of the bag, which is located around the portion to be molded from above by the punch 150 into a cup-shaped component of the bag.
[0042] The ejector 130 and the lower die 110 can respectively clamp the upper and lower parts of the peripheral portion of the bag. With the peripheral portion of the bag clamped by the ejector 130 and the lower die 110, the punch 150 can be inserted into the receiving groove to mold the cup-shaped part of the bag.
[0043] like Figure 1 The V-shaped pouch for the secondary battery shown can be manufactured by an apparatus 100 for manufacturing pouches for secondary batteries according to a first embodiment of the present invention, which has the above-described structure.
[0044] Furthermore, in the apparatus 100 for manufacturing a secondary battery bag according to the first embodiment of the present invention, an anti-push groove 120 is formed in one of the lower mold 110 or the demolding device 130 for pressing the peripheral portion of the bag.
[0045] For example, refer to Figure 5 and 6 The anti-push groove 120 can be formed in the bottom surface 114 of the lower mold 110. Furthermore, an anti-push protrusion 131 can be formed on the demolding device 130 to correspond to the anti-push groove 120. The anti-push protrusion 131 can have a protruding shape, protruding from the position corresponding to the anti-push groove 120 and inserted into the anti-push groove 120.
[0046] Of course, the positions of the anti-thrust groove 120 and the anti-thrust protrusion 131 can be interchanged.
[0047] That is, the anti-push groove 120 can be formed in the demolding device 130, and correspondingly, the anti-push protrusion 131 can be formed on the lower mold 110 (not shown). Specifically, when the anti-push groove 120 is provided in the area around the molded part in the demolding device 130, the anti-push protrusion 131 can be formed on the pressing surface of the lower mold 110. The anti-push protrusion 131 has a protruding shape, protruding from the position corresponding to the anti-push groove 120 and inserting into the anti-push groove 120.
[0048] In the first embodiment, for convenience, an anti-push groove 120 is formed in the bottom surface 114 of the lower mold 110, and an anti-push protrusion 131 corresponding to the anti-push groove 120 is formed on the demolding device 130. However, this is merely for ease of explanation and is not intended to limit the scope of the claims.
[0049] Two receiving grooves, namely a left receiving groove 111 and a right receiving groove 112, can be formed in the lower mold 110. The cup-shaped component of the left bag can be formed through the left receiving groove 111, and the cup-shaped component of the right bag can be formed through the right receiving groove 112. A bridging component 113 connecting the two receiving grooves to each other can be formed between the left receiving groove 111 and the right receiving groove 112.
[0050] In this case, the anti-thrust groove 120 is formed in the bottom surface 114 of the outer peripheral region of the molding region, which includes a left receiving groove 111, a right receiving groove 112 and a bridging member 113.
[0051] As described above, the anti-thrust groove 120 and the anti-thrust protrusion 131 are formed on the outer peripheral area of the molding region to retain the peripheral portion of the bag. Furthermore, since the bag base material is mated together while the groove and protrusion engage with each other, the bag base material is less prone to movement, thus limiting the range of movement of the bag base material. In this principle, when molding a bag, bag wrinkles that occur during bag molding due to uneven suction of the bag base material caused by imbalance or asymmetry between the mold and the demolding device can be mitigated or eliminated.
[0052] If it were assumed that the anti-push groove 120 and anti-push protrusion 131 were not present, during the descent of the punch 150, when the left portion of the lower die 110 and the left portion of the ejector 130 contact each other before being pressed on the right, the bag base material might move asymmetrically to the left and right, causing uneven wrinkles. However, in this invention, even if the left portion of the lower die 110 and the left portion of the ejector 130 contact each other before the right, the anti-push groove 120 and anti-push protrusion 131 contact each other on the right to hold the right bag base material in place before the bag base material is formally applied to the left, thus preventing uneven movement of the bag base material to the receiving groove. Therefore, wrinkles on the bag can be prevented.
[0053] In this case, the same principle can be applied not only in the left and right directions, but also in the vertical direction, thus producing the same effect.
[0054] Specifically, refer to Figure 5 In the apparatus 100 for manufacturing a pouch for a secondary battery according to a first embodiment of the present invention, the thrust-resistant groove 120 may include a first thrust-resistant groove 121 and a second thrust-resistant groove 122. In the plan view of the lower mold 110, the first thrust-resistant groove 121 may be configured to extend in a left-right direction at a predetermined distance upward from the bridging member 113. Furthermore, the second thrust-resistant groove 122 may be configured to extend in a left-right direction at a predetermined distance downward from the bridging member 113.
[0055] Additionally, the anti-thrust groove 120 may include a third anti-thrust groove 123 and a fourth anti-thrust groove 124. Furthermore, in the plan view of the lower mold 110, the third anti-thrust groove 123 may be configured to extend vertically at a predetermined distance to the left from the left receiving groove 111. The fourth anti-thrust groove 124 may be configured to extend vertically at a predetermined distance to the right from the right receiving groove 112.
[0056] When all the first thrust-resistant grooves 121, the second thrust-resistant groove 122, the third thrust-resistant groove 123, and the fourth thrust-resistant groove 124 are formed, as follows Figure 5 As shown in the plan view of the lower mold 110, each of the first thrust groove 121, the second thrust groove 122, the third thrust groove 123, and the fourth thrust groove 124 can be formed into a rectangular shape. Therefore, the bag can be molded while retaining the bag base material in all directions.
[0057] The first anti-thrust groove 121 can be formed at a position spaced 5 mm or more upward from the upper end of the bridging member 113. That is, Figure 5 The distance d1 can be 5 mm or more. Similarly, the second anti-thrust groove 122 can be formed at a position spaced downwards from the lower end of the bridging member 113 by a distance of 5 mm or more. That is, Figure 5 The distance d2 in the middle can be 5mm or greater.
[0058] When molding a bag while the punch 150 is inserted into the receiving groove, a predetermined amount of bag base material is drawn into the receiving groove, and at the same time, it needs to be stretched to a certain extent, especially around the bridging components. Therefore, when each of the distances d1 and d2 is less than 5 mm, the stretchability may be insufficient, causing some areas of the bag to tear. Therefore, when each of the distances d1 and d2 is formed to be 5 mm or greater, high-quality products can be safely manufactured without worrying about tearing.
[0059] Second Implementation Method
[0060] Figure 7 These are front and plan views of the lower mold in an apparatus for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Figure 8 These are front and bottom views of a demolding device and a punch in an apparatus for manufacturing bags for secondary batteries according to a second embodiment of the present invention.
[0061] The second embodiment of the present invention differs from the first embodiment in that a portion of the anti-thrust groove has a different shape.
[0062] Content that overlaps with the first embodiment will be omitted as much as possible, and the focus will be on describing the differences in the second embodiment. That is to say, obviously, if necessary, content not described in the second embodiment can also be regarded as content of the first embodiment.
[0063] Reference Figure 7 and Figure 8 In the apparatus 200 for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to a second embodiment of the present invention, an anti-push groove 220 may be formed in the bottom surface 214 of the lower mold 210, and an anti-push protrusion 231 may be formed on the demolding device 230 to correspond to the anti-push groove 220. The anti-push protrusion 231 formed on the demolding device 230 may have a protruding shape, protruding from the position corresponding to the anti-push groove 220 and inserted into the anti-push groove 220.
[0064] Two receiving grooves, namely a left receiving groove 211 and a right receiving groove 212, can be formed on the lower mold 210. The cup-shaped component of the left bag can be formed through the left receiving groove 211, and the cup-shaped component of the right bag can be formed through the right receiving groove 212. A bridging component 213 connecting the two receiving grooves can be formed between the left receiving groove 211 and the right receiving groove 212.
[0065] The anti-thrust groove 220 may include a first anti-thrust groove 221 and a second anti-thrust groove 222. In the plan view of the lower mold 210, the first anti-thrust groove 221 may be configured to extend in a left-right direction at a predetermined distance upward from the bridging member 213. Furthermore, the second anti-thrust groove 222 may be configured to extend in a left-right direction at a predetermined distance downward from the bridging member 213.
[0066] Here, in the apparatus 200 for manufacturing a secondary battery bag according to the second embodiment of the present invention, the length of each of the first anti-push groove 221 and the second anti-push groove 222 may be less than the length of the receiving groove in the width direction W. That is, the length of the first anti-push groove 221 may be less than the length in the width direction W from the left end of the left receiving groove 211 to the right end of the right receiving groove 212. Similarly, the length of the second anti-push groove 222 may be less than the length in the width direction W from the left end of the left receiving groove 211 to the right end of the right receiving groove 212.
[0067] Additionally, the anti-thrust groove 220 may include a third anti-thrust groove 223 and a fourth anti-thrust groove 224. In the plan view of the lower mold 210, the third anti-thrust groove 223 may be configured to extend vertically at a position spaced a predetermined distance to the left from the left receiving groove 211, and the fourth anti-thrust groove 224 may be configured to extend vertically at a position spaced a predetermined distance to the right from the right receiving groove 212.
[0068] In this case, the length of each of the third thrust-resistant groove 223 and the fourth thrust-resistant groove 224 can be equal to or greater than the length of the receiving groove in the longitudinal direction Y. That is, in the longitudinal direction Y of the receiving groove, the length of the third thrust-resistant groove 223 can be greater than the length of the left receiving groove 211. Alternatively, the length of the left receiving groove 211 can be the same as the length of the third thrust-resistant groove 223. In the same manner, in the longitudinal direction Y of the receiving groove, the length of the fourth thrust-resistant groove 224 can be greater than the length of the right receiving groove 212. Alternatively, the length of the right receiving groove 212 can be the same as the length of the fourth thrust-resistant groove 224. In addition, the third thrust-resistant groove 223 and the fourth thrust-resistant groove 224 can have the same length.
[0069] In addition, refer to Figure 7 In the apparatus 200 for manufacturing a pouch for a secondary battery according to a second embodiment of the present invention, the first anti-push groove 221 and the second anti-push groove 222 may be symmetrical with respect to the virtual line L extending from the bridging member 213. Furthermore, in this case, the length of the first anti-push groove 221 may be less than the length in the width direction of either the left receiving groove 211 or the right receiving groove 212. The length of the second anti-push groove 222 may also be less than the length in the width direction of either the left receiving groove 211 or the right receiving groove 212. Additionally, the first anti-push groove 221 and the second anti-push groove 222 may have the same length.
[0070] In the apparatus for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to a second embodiment of the present invention, the length of each of the first anti-push groove 221 and the second anti-push groove 222 may be less than the length of each of the third anti-push groove 223 and the fourth anti-push groove 224. In the case of forming a V-shaped bag, since the left and right portions of the lower mold 210 forming the V-shape, and the left and right portions of the demolding device 230 corresponding to the left and right portions of the lower mold 210, are not horizontal or symmetrical to each other, the third anti-push groove 223 and the fourth anti-push groove 224 formed on the left and right sides are formed to be longer, while the first anti-push groove 221 and the second anti-push groove 222 formed on the relatively less horizontal upper and lower sides can be formed to be shorter. Therefore, the same effect can be obtained by using a smaller length or a smaller groove shape, which means that the apparatus 200 for manufacturing a bag for a secondary battery according to the second embodiment of the present invention can achieve more efficient results.
[0071] In particular, since the amount of bag base material that is drawn into the receiving groove near the bridging member 213 is large, a first anti-thrust groove 221 and a second anti-thrust groove 222 can be formed specifically in the outer region of the bridging member 213.
[0072] At this time, the first anti-thrust groove 221 can be formed at a position 5 mm or more above the upper end of the bridging member 213. That is to say, Figure 7 The distance d3 can be 5 mm or more. Similarly, the second anti-thrust groove 222 can be formed at a position 5 mm or more below the lower end of the bridging member 213. That is, Figure 7 The distance d4 in the middle can be 5mm or greater.
[0073] When the punch 250 is inserted into the receiving groove to mold the bag, a predetermined amount of bag base material is drawn into the receiving groove, and at the same time, it needs to be stretched to a certain extent, especially around the bridging components. Therefore, when each of the distances d3 and d4 is less than 5 mm, the stretchability may be insufficient, causing some areas of the bag to break. Therefore, when each of the distances d3 and d4 is formed to be 5 mm or greater, high-quality products can be safely manufactured without worrying about breakage.
[0074] Although embodiments of the invention have been described with reference to specific implementations, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
