[0002] This International PCT patent application claims the benefit of priority to Japanese Patent Application JP2022-097565 filed on Jun. 16, 2022. The above-referenced patent application is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Technical Field
[0003] The present disclosure relates to connectors and connector pairs. Background Art
[0004] Known connectors such as substrate-to-substrate connectors are used to electrically connect a pair of circuit substrates to each other. These connectors are attached to respective surfaces of the opposite surfaces of the pair of circuit substrates and fit together to conduct. In addition, in order to reduce the influence of noise and radio waves from the outside and also suppress the emission of noise and radio waves to the outside, a technology of providing a shielding member has been proposed (for example, refer to Patent Document 1).
[0005] Fig.62 is a perspective view showing a known connector.
[0006] In the figure, 811 is a connector base mounted on the surface of a circuit substrate (not shown), and has a receiving recess 812 for receiving a mating connector (not shown). The base 811 includes: a central wall portion 813, which is located at the center of the receiving recess 812 in the width direction and extends in the length direction; and a pair of side wall portions 814, which are located on the left and right sides of the central wall portion 813 and extend in the length direction.
[0007] In addition, a plurality of terminals 861 are attached to the respective side wall portions 814 and arranged side by side in the length direction. Each terminal 861 includes: a pair of contact portions protruding from the inner wall surfaces of the side wall portion 814 and the central wall portion 813 relative to each other; and a connecting portion 864 protruding outward from the lower end of the side wall portion 814. The connecting portion 864 is welded to a connecting pad formed on the surface of the circuit substrate. When the mating connector is accommodated in the accommodating recess 812, the contact portion is in contact with the terminal of the mating connector.
[0008] In addition, a conductive shielding plate 850 is attached to the base 811 to entirely cover the outer wall surface of the side wall portion 814. The shielding plate 850 has a plurality of substrate connection portions 850a, and the substrate connection portions 850a are soldered to connection pads formed on the surface of the first circuit substrate. Thus, the outer peripheral surface of the base 811 is covered by the conductive shielding plate 850. Therefore, the shielding plate 850 achieves an electromagnetic shielding effect on the connector and the mating connector accommodated in the accommodation recess 812.
[0009] Prior art documents: Patent document: Patent document 1: Japanese patent application publication number JP2011-119119. Summary of the invention
[0010] However, this type of conventional connector cannot cope with the miniaturization of electronic devices and the high speed of signals in recent years. In electronic devices such as laptops, tablet computers, smart phones, digital cameras, music players, game consoles, navigation devices, etc., a small low-profile housing and accompanying small low-profile components are required, and high-speed and multi-polarization of signals are required to cope with the increase in the amount of communication data and the high speed of communication speed and data processing speed. However, the attempt to pursue small low-profile and multi-polarization using the aforementioned known connector makes the base 811 slender and easy to warp, resulting in the flatness of the substrate connection portion 850a of the shielding plate 850 deteriorating. In addition, the shielding plate 850 itself is easy to deform. Taking all of this into account, the connection reliability between the substrate connection portion 850a of the shielding plate 850 and the connection pad of the circuit substrate deteriorates. As a result, the attempt to pursue small low-profile and multi-polarization using the aforementioned known connector leads to poor reliability due to the inability to achieve sufficient electromagnetic shielding effect.
[0011] Here, in order to solve the problems of the conventional connector, an object of the present invention is to provide a connector and a connector pair which exhibit high strength and achieve a high shielding effect while being small and low-profile and highly reliable.
[0012] In view of the above, the connector includes: a connector body; a plurality of terminals attached to the connector body; and a shielding component surrounding the connector body, and the connector is engaged with a mating connector. The terminals are arranged to form a column extending in the length direction of the connector. The shielding component includes a fixing portion, a shielding plate, and a coupling portion. The fixing portion integrally connects and fixes the shielding component to the connector body without a gap near both ends of the connector body in the length direction. The shielding plate is arranged outside the width direction of the connector body in a range corresponding to at least the column of the terminals in the length direction of the connector, wherein a lateral space is arranged between the shielding plate and the column of the terminals. The coupling portion connects the shielding plate to the connector body across the lateral space in the range corresponding to the column of the terminals.
[0013] Furthermore, in another connector, the coupling portion extends from the upper end of the shield plate toward the mounting surface of the connector and also toward the connector body, with the distal end fixed to the connector body between terminals adjacent to each other in the length direction of the connector.
[0014] Furthermore, in another connector, a part of the coupling portion can be electrically connected to a substrate on which the connector is mounted.
[0015] Furthermore, in another connector, a substrate connection portion parallel to a surface of a substrate on which the connector is mounted can be formed on the shield plate.
[0016] Furthermore, in another connector, the shielding member may include a second shielding member surrounding both ends of the connector body in the longitudinal direction.
[0017] Furthermore, in another connector, the second shield member can be integrated with the shield member.
[0018] Furthermore, in another connector, the shield member surrounds a circumference of a receiving portion into which the mating connector is inserted and received, the shield plate includes at least two contact portions configured to contact the shield plate of the mating connector, and the coupling portion is formed between adjacent contact portions.
[0019] Furthermore, in another connector, the shield plate can include a contact portion formed to protrude outward from an outer surface.
[0020] In addition, another connector includes: a connector body; a plurality of terminals attached to the connector body; and a shielding member surrounding the connector body, and the connector is engaged with a mating connector. The terminals are arranged to form a column extending in the length direction of the connector. The shielding member has a generally rectangular shape in a plan view, and the four sides are configured to contact the shielding member of the mating connector. The connector includes a contact piece provided near four corner portions of the shielding member and capable of elastic displacement in the mating direction. The contact piece is configured to contact the shielding member of the mating connector.
[0021] Furthermore, in another connector, the contact point of the contact piece is arranged to contact the shield member of the mating connector outside a region where four sides of the shield member contact the shield member of the mating connector in a plan view.
[0022] Furthermore, in another connector, the contact piece is connected to the shielding member.
[0023] Furthermore, in another connector, the contact piece has a cantilever shape extending in a longitudinal direction of the connector.
[0024] Furthermore, in another connector, the shield member of the mating connector includes a shield upper surface portion provided on an upper surface of a connector body of the mating connector, and the contact piece is configured to contact the shield upper surface portion.
[0025] The connector pair includes the connector according to the present disclosure and a mating connector mated with the connector.
[0026] According to the present disclosure, a connector and a connector pair can exhibit high strength, achieve high shielding effect, have improved reliability, and be small and low profile. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0091] In the figure, the first connector 10 is a connector of the present embodiment and represents one of a pair of substrate-to-substrate connectors as a connector pair. The first connector 10 is a surface mount type socket connector mounted on the surface of a first substrate (not shown) as a substrate of a mounting component, and is mated with a second connector 101 described later. In addition, the second connector 101 is the other of the pair of substrate-to-substrate connectors and is a surface mount type plug connector mounted on the surface of a second substrate (not shown) as a mounting component. Each of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 serves as a mating connector for the other of a pair of substrate-to-substrate connectors.
[0092] It is noted that the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 according to the present embodiment are preferably used to electrically connect the first substrate and the second substrate, but can also be used to electrically connect other components. For example, the first substrate and the second substrate are each a printed circuit substrate, a flexible flat cable (FFC), a flexible circuit substrate (FPC), etc. used in electronic equipment, etc., but can be any type of substrate.
[0093] In addition, in the present embodiment, expressions indicating directions such as up, down, left, right, front, and rear, which are used to explain the configuration and actions of the various parts of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 of the connector pair, are relative rather than absolute, and are appropriate when the various parts of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are in the postures shown in the figures. However, when their postures are changed, these directions should be interpreted variably according to the change in posture.
[0094] In addition, the first connector 10 includes: a first shield 50 as a shielding member, which is a socket shield formed by punching, drawing, etc., of a conductive metal plate; and a first base 11 as a connector body, which is integrally formed of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin. The first base 11 includes: a flat bottom plate 18; first convex portions 13, which are three elongated protruding walls erected upward from the upper surface of the bottom plate 18; and corner portions 17 protruding upward from the four corners of the bottom plate 18.
[0095] The corner portion 17 is a main portion connected to the first shielding member 50 when the first shielding member 50 is integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding. Specifically, by filling the cavity of the mold in which the first shielding member 50 is preliminarily set with an insulating material such as a synthetic resin, the first base 11 is molded, and the first base 11 is integrally connected to the first shielding member 50 at the corner portion 17 and other portions. Therefore, there is no separation between the first base 11 and the first shielding member 50, but Figure 4 , for convenience of explanation, the first base 11 and the first shielding member 50 are shown as if they exist separately.
[0096] like Figure 4 As shown, each corner portion 17 is shaped like one of the four parts of a cylindrical wall having an elliptical cylindrical cross-sectional shape, and includes: an upper wall portion 17a having an arc-shaped portion with a central angle of about 90 degrees in a plan view and a straight-line portion extending in the length direction (X-axis direction) of the first connector 10; an outer wall portion 17b extending downward (in the negative direction of the Z-axis) from the outer edge of the upper wall portion 17a; and an inner wall portion 17c extending downward from the inner edge of the upper wall portion 17a. The interior of the corner portion 17 is defined by the upper wall portion 17a, the outer wall portion 17b, and the inner wall portion 17c, and serves as a cavity portion 17d, which is a space opened at the lower end. In addition, the inner wall portion 17c has a shielding member accommodating portion 17e that is recessed to accommodate the inner wall 51 near the corner portion 50 of the first shielding member 50. Furthermore, the lower end of the inner wall portion 17 c is connected to a distal end of a connection portion 18 a extending outward at each of the four corners of the bottom plate 18 .
[0097] The corner portion 17 further includes a separation protrusion 17f that is continuous on the outer peripheral surface of the upper wall portion 17a, the outer wall portion 17b, and the inner wall portion 17c. The separation protrusion 17f is a protrusion formed at a position corresponding to the cutout portion 50c that separates the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shielding member 50. In each corner portion 17, a portion of the separation protrusion 17f that is outside the longitudinal direction of the first connector 10 is integrally connected to the short side portion 50b, and a portion of the separation protrusion 17f that is inside the longitudinal direction of the first connector 10 is integrally connected to the long side portion 50a.
[0098] The first convex portion 13 is a substantially rectangular parallelepiped member extending in the length direction (X-axis direction) of the first connector 10, and includes: a pair of outer convex portions 13a extending in the length direction of the first connector 10 on both sides in the width direction (Y-axis direction) of the first connector 10; a pair of inner convex portions 13b extending in the length direction of the first connector 10 at the center in the width direction; and an outer end convex portion 13c connected to each of the two ends in the length direction of the outer convex portion 13a. In addition, a pair of inner concave groove portions 12a as concave portions extending in the length direction of the first connector 10 are formed between the left and right sides of the outer convex portion 13a and the inner convex portion 13b as a part of the first concave portion 12.
[0099] Here, the first signal terminal accommodating cavity 15 is formed from the side surfaces on the left and right sides of the inner convex portion 13b along the bottom surface of the inner recessed portion 12a to the side surface of the outer convex portion 13a. In the example shown, the first signal terminal accommodating cavity 15 penetrates the bottom plate 18 in the plate thickness direction (Z-axis direction). Note that the groove-shaped portion of the first signal terminal accommodating cavity 15 formed on the side surfaces on the left and right sides of the inner convex portion 13b is referred to as the first signal terminal accommodating inner cavity 15a, and the groove-shaped portion of the first signal terminal accommodating cavity 15 formed on the side surface of the outer convex portion 13a facing the inner convex portion 13b is referred to as the first signal terminal accommodating outer cavity 15b.
[0100] The plurality of first signal terminal receiving cavities 15 are arranged to form a column extending in the length direction at a predetermined pitch (e.g., 0.35 [mm]). It is noted that the pitch and number of the first signal terminal receiving cavities 15 can be appropriately varied. A plurality of first terminals 61, as terminals received in respective first signal terminal receiving cavities 15 and attached to the first base 11, are also arranged on both sides of the inner protrusion 13b at the same pitch. Thus, the plurality of first terminals 61 are arranged along each inner groove portion 12a to form a column extending in the length direction of the first connector 10. In the example shown, the number of first terminals 61 is 20 on each of the left and right sides, and the number of poles of the first connector 10 is 40. However, the number of first terminals 61 may be increased, for example, the number of poles of the first connector 10 may be 70 or more.
[0101] The side recessed portions 18b are formed in the bottom plate 18 outside the first convex portion 13 in the width direction of the first connector 10, and as a result, the bottom plate 18 has a small dimension in the width direction of the first connector 10, or in other words, is formed to be narrow in width. In addition, the end recessed portions 18c are formed at both ends of the bottom plate 18 in the length direction of the first connector 10, and as a result, the bottom plate 18 has a small dimension in the length direction of the first connector 10, or in other words, is formed to be short.
[0102] Furthermore, the metal fitting attachment portion 16 to which the first metal fitting 71 as the power metal fitting is attached is connected to both ends in the length direction of the inner convex portion 13b. A metal fitting receiving groove 16a for receiving the first metal fitting 71 is formed on the side surface of the metal fitting attachment portion 16. A first metal fitting connection opening 16b as an opening formed through the bottom plate 18 in the plate thickness direction is formed on the outer side in the length direction of the first connector 10 of the metal fitting attachment portion 16. A first metal fitting connection slit 16c as an opening formed through the bottom plate 18 in the plate thickness direction is formed on the left and right outer sides in the width direction of the first connector 10 of the upper metal fitting attachment portion 16. The tail portion 72 of the first metal fitting 71 is received in the first metal fitting connection opening 16b, and the lower end of the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71 is received in the first metal fitting connection slit 16c.
[0103] The first shielding member 50 is a component formed by stamping, drawing, etc., on a conductive metal plate, and is Figure 2 As shown, it is a substantially rectangular frame-shaped member that surrounds (i.e., surrounds) the entire circumference of the first base 11 when viewed from above (i.e., in a plan view). It should be noted that in the present embodiment, "surrounding" or "surrounding" not only means to surround the entire circumference of an object such as the first base 11 continuously without any gaps, but also means to surround the entire circumference of the object intermittently with some gaps, and also means to surround the object continuously without gaps over more than half of the circumference of the object or to surround the object intermittently with some gaps.
[0104] The first shielding member 50 includes: a plurality of (a pair in the example shown in the figure) long side portions 50a, which are first shielding members extending linearly in the length direction of the first connector 10 as side shielding members; and a plurality of (a pair in the example shown in the figure) short side portions 50b, which are second shielding members as end shielding members. The short side portions 50b surrounding both ends in the length direction of the first base 11 include: a first portion 50b1, which is a portion extending linearly in the width direction of the first connector 10; a second portion 50b2, which is connected to both ends of the first portion 50b1 and has an arc shape with a central angle of about 90 degrees in a plan view; and a third portion 50b3, which is connected to the second portion 50b2 and extends linearly in the length direction of the first connector 10.
[0105] The long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b are separated from each other by a cutout portion 50c, which is a narrow space between the long side portion 50a and the third portion 50b3 of the short side portion 50b. Alternatively, if necessary, the cutout portion 50c is omitted, and the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b can be integrated. The long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b will be described collectively as the first shielding member 50. Note that the space surrounded by the first shielding member 50 is a receiving portion 50d for the second connector 101 of the plug connector to be inserted and received.
[0106] Furthermore, the first shielding member 50 includes: an outer wall 52 serving as a shielding plate; an inner wall 51 which is substantially parallel to the outer wall 52 on the inner side of the outer wall 52; and a connecting portion 53 connecting the upper end of the outer wall 52 with the upper end of the inner wall 51. Although the outer wall 52 is a wall which is continuous over the entire circumference of the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b except for the cutout portion 50c, the inner wall 51 is divided into a plurality of portions not only by the cutout portion 50c but also by a plurality of slit portions 53b formed on the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b.
[0107] In each short side portion 50b, a pair of slit portions 53b are formed in the first portion 50b1, and the portion whose two ends are defined by the pair of slit portions 53b is called an interlocking spring portion 51a. The other portion in each short side portion 50b is called an interlocking positioning portion 51b. In each long side portion 50a, a slit portion 53b is formed near each end of the two ends in the length direction, and a pair of slit portions 53b close to each other is formed in any portion between the two slit portions 53b near the two ends in the length direction. The two portions having two ends defined by the two slit portions 53b are each called an interlocking spring portion 51a.
[0108] The fitting spring portion 51a is a portion that extends linearly within the range of each long side portion 50a and within the inner range of each short side portion 50b, and when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are in the fitted state, the fitting spring portion elastically contacts the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 described later of the second connector 101 and serves as a contact portion that maintains the conductive state between the first shielding member 50 and the second shielding member 150. In addition, the fitting positioning portion 51b is a portion where the linear portion of the third portion 50b3 and the first portion 50b1 and both ends of the second portion 50b2 as a curved corner portion are connected, and when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are fitted, the second connector 101 is guided to be inserted into the receiving portion 50d. Specifically, the second connector 101 is inserted into the receiving portion 50d while the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 contacts the fitting positioning portion 51b, thereby positioning between the second connector 101 and the first connector 10.
[0109] In addition, the upper end of the fitting spring portion 51a is connected to the upper end portion 53a of the connecting portion 53 as the upper end portion of the first shielding member 50, and the fitting spring portion 51a includes: an inclined surface portion 51d, which extends downwardly obliquely toward the inside of the accommodating portion 50d; an inner wall lower portion 51e, which extends downwardly substantially vertically from the lower end of the inclined surface portion 51d; and an engaging corner portion 51c, which is a corner portion forming a boundary between the inclined surface portion 51d and the inner wall lower portion 51e. In addition, the engaging corner portion 51c is a portion that engages with an engaging protrusion 152c described later formed on the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101 when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are in the fitted state, and extends straight in the length direction or width direction of the first connector 10. The fitting spring portion 51a is not connected to the first base 11, but is relatively flexible and can be elastically deformed in a direction close to or away from the outer wall 52 because both ends are separated from other portions by the slit portion 53b.
[0110] The fitting positioning portion 51b is integrated with the corner portion 17 of the first base 11. The upper end of the fitting positioning portion 51b is a gently inclined surface portion that gently slopes downward from the upper end portion 53a of the connecting portion 53 toward the inside of the receiving portion 50d. Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 6 , when viewed in the length direction and width direction of the first connector 10, the inclination angle (i.e., the taper angle) of the gently inclined surface portion is gentler than the taper angle of the inclined surface portion 51d of the fitting spring portion 51a, and when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are fitted together, the gently inclined surface of the fitting positioning portion 51b contacts the second connector 101 inserted into the receiving portion 50d, and then the inclined surface portion 51d of the fitting spring portion 51a contacts. Thus, damage to the fitting spring portion 51a can be reduced when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are fitted together.
[0111] The second portion 50b2 and the third portion 50b3 of the short side portion 50b serve as fixing portions for fixing the first shielding member 50 to the first base 11, and the fixing is achieved by a gapless integral connection between the short side portion 50b and the first base 11 near both ends in the length direction. Specifically, the second portion 50b2 and the third portion 50b3 of the short side portion 50b are portions connected to the first base 11 when the first shielding member 50 is integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding, and are portions integrated with the corner portion 17. In addition, the inner wall 51 is accommodated in the shielding member accommodation portion 17e formed on the inner wall portion 17c at the corner portion 17 at the second portion 50b2 and the third portion 50b3. This ensures that the short side portion 50b and the first base 11 are firmly integrated and will not separate. The surface of the inner wall 51 in the second portion 50b2 and the third portion 50b3 is preferably coplanar with the surface of the inner wall 17c of the corner portion 17. Thus, the second connector 101 can be stably guided to be mated with the first connector 10 .
[0112] In each long side portion 50a, an end joint portion 55 for fixedly connecting the long side portion 50a and the first base 11 is formed between the two ends in the length direction and the slit portion 53b formed near the two ends. The end joint portion 55 serves as a fixing portion for fixing the first shielding member 50 to the first base 11, and integrally connects and fixes the two ends in the length direction of the long side portion 50a and the vicinity of the two ends in the length direction of the first base 11 without a gap therebetween. Specifically, the end joint portion 55 is a component whose base end formed by bending an elongated strip plate is connected to the long side portion 50a and whose tip is embedded in the outer end protrusion 13c. Specifically, the end coupling portion 55 includes: a base end portion 55a, which has its upper end connected to an upper end portion 53a of a connecting portion 53 serving as an upper end portion of the first shielding member 50; a first vertical portion 55b, which extends generally vertically downward from a lower end of the base end portion 55a; a first horizontal portion 55c, which extends generally horizontally from a lower end of the first vertical portion 55b toward a center in a width direction (Y-axis direction) of the first connector 10; a second vertical portion 55d, which extends generally vertically upward from an end of the first horizontal portion 55c; and a second horizontal portion 55e, which extends generally horizontally from an upper end of the second vertical portion 55d toward a center in a width direction of the first connector 10.
[0113] When the first shielding member 50 is integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding, the base end portion 55a and approximately the upper half of the first vertical portion 55b are integrated with the relatively separated protrusion 17f of the corner portion 17 on the inner side of the length direction of the first connector 10 to be exposed on the surface of the upper wall portion 17a and the inner wall portion 17c. Most of the first horizontal portion 55c is integrated with the connecting portion 18a of the bottom plate 18 to be exposed on the lower surface of the connecting portion 18a. Most of the second vertical portion 55d is integrated with the outer end protrusion 13c connected to the connecting portion 18a to be exposed on the side of the outer end protrusion 13c. The second horizontal portion 55e is integrated with the outer end protrusion 13c to be exposed on the upper surface of the outer end protrusion 13c. This ensures that the long side portion 50a and the first base 11 are firmly integrated and will not separate.
[0114] In each long side portion 50a, an intermediate joint portion 56 as a joint portion connecting the long side portion 50a and the first base 11 is formed between a pair of slit portions 53b close to each other in any portion between the end joint portions 55 at both ends in the length direction. In the example shown in the figure, one intermediate joint portion 56 is formed in the center of the length direction of each long side portion 50a, but the intermediate joint portion 56 is not necessarily formed in the center of the length direction of the long side portion 50a, but may be formed at any position in the length direction of the long side portion 50a, or more than two intermediate joint portions 56 may be formed. Here, for the convenience of explanation, only the case where one intermediate joint portion 56 is formed in the center of the length direction of each long side portion 50a will be described.
[0115] The intermediate joint portion 56 is a component formed by connecting the base end of the bent elongated strip to the long side portion 50a and embedding the tip end in the intermediate joint retaining portion 13d of the inner convex portion 13b. The first signal terminal accommodating cavity 15 is not formed in a portion of the first base 11 corresponding to the intermediate joint portion 56. The intermediate joint portion 56 extends from the upper end of the outer wall 52 toward the mounting surface 10b of the first connector 10, and then extends toward the first base 11. The tip end of the intermediate joint portion 56 is fixed to the first base 11 and is located between the first terminals 61 adjacent to each other in the length direction of the first connector 10. Specifically, the intermediate joint 56 includes: a base end portion 56a, which has its upper end connected to the upper end portion 53a of the connecting portion 53 which serves as the upper end portion of the first shielding member 50; a first vertical portion 56b, which extends generally vertically downward from the lower end of the base end portion 56a; a first horizontal portion 56c, which extends generally horizontally from the lower end of the first vertical portion 56b toward the center of the width direction of the first connector 10; and a second vertical portion 56d, which extends generally vertically upward from the end of the first horizontal portion 56c.
[0116] When the first shielding member 50 is integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding, about half of the first horizontal portion 56c is integrated with the bottom plate 18 to be exposed on the lower surface of the inner convex portion 13b, and most of the second vertical portion 56d is integrated with the middle joint retaining portion 13d to be exposed on the side of the middle joint retaining portion 13d. As a result, the long side portion 50a and the first base 11 are also integrated with each other at the middle portion in the length direction, and thus have a posture and shape that are stably maintained. A portion of the middle joint portion 56 can be electrically connected to the first substrate. Specifically, the first horizontal portion 56c is preferably electrically connected to the connection pad on the surface of the first substrate.
[0117] The flange portion 54 serving as a flat surface portion extending outward is connected to the lower end of the outer wall 52 via a bent portion 52a bent at an angle of about 90 degrees. The bent portion 52a and the flange portion 54 are connected to the lower end of the outer wall 52 in a continuous manner around the entire circumference except for the cutout portion 50c. Note that in the example shown in the figure, small notches 54a are formed at a plurality of locations on the flange portion 54, but the notches 54a can be appropriately omitted.
[0118] The flange portion 54 is used as a substrate connection portion. The lower surface of the flange portion 54 is parallel to the surface of the first substrate and is connected to the connection pad on the surface by welding or the like. The connection pad is typically connected to a ground line. In addition, the outer wall 52 is a continuous wall, and the upper end of the outer wall 52 is connected to, and is continuous with, the outer wall 52. Figure 5 6 in a direction perpendicular to the outer wall 52 extending in the connecting portion 53, and the lower end of the outer wall 52 is connected to the continuous portion 53 is Figure 5 6, the flange portion 54 is a member extending in a direction perpendicular to the outer wall 52. Therefore, the outer wall 52 is relatively rigid and resistant to deformation.
[0119] Furthermore, when the first base 11 is connected to the first shielding member 50 in the housing portion 50d, the first recess 12 that engages with the second connector 101 is formed in the housing portion 50d, and the first recess 12 is a recess surrounded by the inner wall 51 and defined at the bottom by the bottom plate 18. Furthermore, as described above, the inner recess 12a is formed as a part of the first recess 12 between the left and right sides of the outer convex portion 13a and the inner convex portion 13b as a part of the first recess 12. Furthermore, the engaging recess 12b is formed as a part of the first recess 12 outside both ends of the first convex portion 13 with respect to the length direction of the first connector 10.
[0120] In addition, a side space 12c as an elongated recessed space extending in the longitudinal direction of the first connector 10 is formed between each outer protrusion 13a and the outer wall 52 of the long side portion 50a. The side space 12c is formed in a range corresponding to at least the row of the first terminals 61 in the longitudinal direction of the first connector 10.
[0121] In addition, the first terminal 61 is a component formed integrally by stamping, bending, etc. a conductive metal plate, and is provided with: a held portion 63; a tail portion 62, which serves as a substrate connection portion and is connected to the lower end of the held portion 63; an outer connection portion 65, which is connected to the upper end of the held portion 63; and a lower connection portion 64, which is connected to the lower end of the outer connection portion 65, and has a substantially U-shaped side shape. A contact portion 65a that is bent to bulge inwardly in the width direction of the first connector 10 is formed near the lower end of the outer connection portion 65. In addition, the first terminal 61 is further provided with: an inner connection portion 66, which is connected to the end of the lower connection portion 64. The inner connection portion 66 is bent and connected to the lower connection portion 64, and extends upward (in the positive direction of the Z axis). A contact portion 66a that is bent to bulge outwardly in the width direction of the first connector 10 is formed near the upper end of the inner connection portion 66. The contact portion 66a is the same as the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65, and is a portion that contacts the second terminal 161 described later provided in the second connector 101. That is, the first terminal 61 in this embodiment is provided with the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66 that face each other and are configured to make two-point contact with the second terminal 161. When the first terminal 61 is mounted on the first base 11, the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66 protrude into the inner recessed groove portion 12a to face each other.
[0122] In addition, the first terminal 61 is press-fitted into the first signal terminal receiving cavity 15 from the mounting surface 10b side, which is the lower surface (Z-axis negative direction surface) of the first connector 10, and is fixed to the first base 11 based on the fact that the held portion 63 is clamped from both sides by the side surfaces inside the first signal terminal receiving outer cavity 15b. Note that the first terminal 61 is not required to be attached to the first base 11 by press-fitting, but can be integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding. For the convenience of explanation, the case where the held portion 63 is pressed into and held in the first signal terminal receiving outer cavity 15b will be described.
[0123] The tail portion 62 is bent and connected to the held portion 63, extends in the left-right direction (Y-axis direction), that is, outward in the width direction of the first connector 10, and is connected to a connection pad connected to a conductive trace of the first substrate by welding or the like. The conductive trace is typically a signal line.
[0124] The first metal accessory 71 is a component formed integrally by performing processing such as stamping and bending on a conductive metal plate, and includes: a top plate portion 75; a pair of side plate portions 74 extending downward (in the negative direction of the Z axis) from both ends of the top plate portion 75 in the lateral direction; a connecting piece 73 extending downward from the outer end of the first connector 10 in the longitudinal direction of the top plate portion 75; and a tail portion 72, which serves as a substrate connecting portion and is connected to the lower end of the connecting piece 73.
[0125] The first metal fitting 71 is attached to the metal fitting attachment portion 16, wherein the connecting piece 73 and the side plate portion 74 are press-fitted into the metal fitting receiving groove 16a from the fitting surface 10a side which is the upper surface (Z-axis positive direction surface) of the first connector 10. Note that the first metal fitting 71 is not necessarily attached to the first base 11 by press-fitting, but may be integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding. Here, for convenience of explanation, the case where the connecting piece 73 and the side plate portion 74 are press-fitted and held in the metal fitting receiving groove 16a will be described.
[0126] The tail portion 72 is bent and connected to the connecting piece 73, extends outward in the length direction of the first connector 10, is received in the first metal fitting connection opening 16b, and is connected to the connection pad connected to the conductive trace of the first substrate by welding or the like. The lower end of the side plate portion 74 is received in the first metal fitting connection slit 16c and is connected to the connection pad connected to the conductive trace of the first substrate by welding or the like. It should be noted that the conductive trace is described as a power line (i.e., a power line that carries electric power). The outer side surface of the side plate portion 74 serves as a contact portion and is a portion that contacts the second metal fitting 171 of the second connector 101 described later.
[0127] The first metal fitting 71 serves not only as a power metal fitting for transmitting electric power but also as a protection metal fitting for protecting both ends in the length direction of the inner convex portion 13 b.
[0128] Furthermore, the first connector 10 is placed on the surface of the first substrate, wherein solder is applied to the mounting surface 10b side of the first shield 50, the first terminal 61, the first metal fitting 71, etc., and the first connector 10 is fixed and mounted on the surface of the first substrate by heating and melting the solder using a heating furnace or the like. The solder is applied by applying a solder sheet, applying a solder paste, transferring a cream solder, dipping, jet soldering, etc. Note that the means for connecting the first shield 50, the first terminal 61, the first metal fitting 71, etc. to the connection pads of the first substrate are not necessarily limited to soldering but may be, for example, a conductive adhesive or the like. However, the case of using a solder sheet will be described here.
[0129] Specifically, the solder is applied to the lower surface of the flange portion 54 corresponding to the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shielding member 50, and is also applied to the lower surface of the tail portion 62 of each first terminal 61 and the lower surface of the tail portion 72 and the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71. Preferably, the solder is also applied to the lower surface of the first horizontal portion 55c of the end joint portion 55 and the lower surface of the first horizontal portion 56c of the middle joint portion 56.
[0130] When the solder applied in this manner is heated and melted and the first connector 10 is mounted on the surface of the first substrate, the bent portion 52a and the flange portion 54 that are continuous on the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shield 50 that are continuously connected to the lower end of the outer wall 52 are connected to the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate without a gap. Therefore, the strength of the connection of the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shield 50 to the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate is high, and therefore, the strength of the entire first connector 10 surrounded by the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b is high. In addition, the electromagnetic shielding effect exerted by the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b that are connected to the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate without a gap is very high, and the first connector 10 is very effectively electromagnetically shielded by being surrounded by the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b.
[0131] In particular, the lower surface of the flange portion 54 has high smoothness. As a result, the strength of the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b connected to the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate can be made very high. In addition, since no gap is generated between the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate, the electromagnetic shielding effect can also be made very high.
[0132] The long side portion 50a extending in the length direction of the first connector 10 integrates the two ends in the length direction with the relatively separated protrusions 17f of the corner portion 17 on the inner side of the length direction of the first connector 10. In addition, each end joint 55 is integrated with the connection portion 18a of the first base 11, the corner portion 17 connected to the connection portion 18a, and the outer end protrusion 13c. In addition, the middle portion in the length direction of the end including the middle joint 56 is integrated with the bottom plate 18 and the inner protrusion 13b in the middle portion in the length direction of the first base 11. Thus, the flatness of the flange portion 54 in the long side portion 50a is reliably prevented from being reduced due to the warping of the first base 11, which is a slender member made of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin. In addition, the connection between the flange portion 54 and the bent portion 52a of the long side portion 50a and the connection pad on the surface of the first substrate is reliably maintained. When the lower surface of the first horizontal portion 56 c of the intermediate joint portion 56 is also soldered to the connection pad on the surface of the first substrate, the flatness of the flange portion 54 of the long side portion 50 a is more reliably prevented from being reduced.
[0133] Next, the configuration of the second connector 101 will be described.

[0135] The second connector 101 according to the present embodiment comprises: a second shielding member 150, which is a plug shielding member formed by punching, drawing, etc., of a conductive metal plate as a shielding component; and a second base 111, which is a connector body and is integrally formed of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin. The second base 111 comprises: a flat bottom plate 118; a second convex portion 112, which serves as a convex portion and protrudes upward from the upper surface of the bottom plate 118 at the center in the longitudinal direction (X-axis direction) of the second connector 101; and protruding end portions 117, which protrude upward from the upper surface of the bottom plate 118 at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101.
[0136] The protruding end portion 117 is a main portion connected to the second shielding member 150 when the second shielding member 150 is integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding. That is, the second base 111 is molded by filling a cavity of a mold in which the second shielding member 150 is preliminarily set with an insulating material such as a synthetic resin, and is integrally connected to the second shielding member 150 at the protruding end portion 117 and other portions. Therefore, there is no separation between the second base 111 and the second shielding member 150, but Fig.14 , for convenience of explanation, the second base 111 and the second shielding member 150 are shown as if they exist separately.
[0137] like Fig.14 As shown, each protruding end 117 has a shape obtained by dividing the tube wall of a square tube having a rectangular cross section into two, and has a rectangular U-shaped shape in a plan view. Each protruding end 117 includes: a linear end wall portion 117a extending in the width direction (Y-axis direction) of the second connector 101; and a linear side wall portion 117c extending in the length direction (X-axis direction) of the second connector 101 and connected to both ends of the end wall portion 117a via a curved wall portion 117b. The curved wall portion 117b is an arc-shaped portion having a central angle of approximately 90 degrees in a plan view. The lower end of the protruding end 117 is connected to the ends of the connecting portion 118a extending outward at both ends in the length direction of the bottom plate 118. In the example shown, the connecting portion 118a is formed to be thicker than other portions of the bottom plate 118.
[0138] On the inner side of each protruding end portion 117, a protruding end recess 117d is formed on the lower side as a space whose lower side is defined by the connecting portion 118a, whose outer end in the longitudinal direction is defined by the end wall portion 117a, and whose left and right side ends are defined by the side wall portion 117c. The metal fitting attachment portion 116 connected to both ends in the longitudinal direction of the second convex portion 112 is accommodated in the protruding end recess 117d. The metal fitting attachment portion 116 is a portion to which the second metal fitting 171 as a power metal fitting is installed.
[0139] The protruding end portion 117 further includes a separation convex portion 117f which is continuous on the upper surface and the outer side surface of the side wall portion 117c. The separation convex portion 117f is a convex portion formed at a position corresponding to the cut-out portion 150c that separates the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b of the second shielding member 150. The short side portion 150b is integrally connected to a portion of the protruding end portion 117 that is outside the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101 relative to the separation convex portion 117f, while the long side portion 150a is integrally connected to a portion of the protruding end portion 117 that is inside the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101 relative to the separation convex portion 117f.
[0140] The second convex portion 112 includes: a pair of terminal support walls 112a extending in the length direction of the second connector 101 on both sides in the width direction of the second connector 101; and a central groove portion 112b, which is a space defined by the bottom plate 118 at the lower side and the terminal support walls 112a at both left and right side ends. The central groove portion 112b is a slender groove-shaped space defined by the metal fitting attachment portions 116 at both ends in the length direction, and receives the inner convex portion 13b of the first connector 10 when the second connector 101 is mated with the first connector 10.
[0141] The side spaces 112c are elongated recesses extending in the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101 and are formed between each terminal support wall 112a and the outer wall 152 of the long side portion 150a. The side spaces 112c are formed in a range corresponding to at least the row of second terminals 161 in the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101.
[0142] The second terminal 161 is attached to the terminal support wall 112a as a terminal attached to the second base 111. The second terminal 161 is arranged in a number corresponding to the first terminal and at a spacing corresponding to the first terminal 61, so that at least a portion of the second terminal 161 is exposed on the surface of the terminal support wall 112a. Thus, a plurality of second terminals 161 are arranged along each terminal support wall 112a to form a column extending in the length direction of the second connector 101. As in the case of the first terminal 61, the second terminal 161 can be attached to the terminal support wall 112a by press fitting. Again, for the sake of explanation, the second terminal 161 will be described as being integrated with the terminal support wall 112a by overmolding or insert molding.
[0143] The side recess 118b is formed in the bottom plate 118 outside the second convex portion 112 in the width direction of the second connector 101, and as a result, the bottom plate 118 has a small dimension in the width direction of the second connector 101, or in other words, is formed to be narrow in width.
[0144] The metal fitting attachment portions 116 to which the second metal fitting 171 as a power metal fitting is attached are connected to both ends in the length direction of the terminal support wall 112a. Each metal fitting attachment portion 116 has a rectangular U-shaped shape in a plan view, and includes: a linear end wall portion 116a extending in the width direction of the second connector 101; and a linear side wall portion 116b extending in the length direction (X-axis direction) of the second connector 101 and connected to both ends of the end wall portion 116a. The outer side of the metal fitting attachment portion 116 is surrounded by the protruding end portion 117 via the protruding end recess 117d, wherein the end wall portion 116a and the side wall portion 116b face the end wall portion 117a and the side wall portion 117c of the protruding end portion 117, respectively.
[0145] A central recess 116c is formed on the inner side of the end wall portion 116a to accommodate the central piece 178 of the second metal fitting 171. A side recess 116d is formed on the outer side of the side wall portion 116b to accommodate the side plate 175 of the second metal fitting 171. The side recess 116d is formed from the outer side of the side wall portion 116b through the connection portion 118a of the bottom plate 118 to open on the mounting surface 101b side of the bottom plate 118 so that the lower end of the side plate 175 of the second metal fitting 171 is exposed on the mounting surface 101b.
[0146] The second shielding member 150 is a component formed by stamping, drawing, etc., a conductive metal plate, and Fig.12 As shown, it is a substantially rectangular frame-shaped component when viewed from above (i.e., in a plan view), surrounding the entire periphery of the second base 111. The second shielding member 150 includes: a plurality of (a pair in the example shown in the figure) long side portions 150a, which are side shielding members and are first shielding members extending linearly in the length direction of the second connector 101; and a plurality of (a pair in the example shown in the figure) short side portions 150b, which are end shielding members and are second shielding members. The short side portions 150b surrounding both ends in the length direction of the second base 111 include: a first portion 150b1, which is a portion extending linearly in the width direction of the second connector 101; a second portion 150b2, which is connected to both ends of the first portion 150b1 and has an arc shape with a central angle of approximately 90 degrees in a plan view; and a third portion 150b3, which is connected to the second portion 150b2 and extends linearly in the length direction of the second connector 101.
[0147] The long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b are separated from each other by a cutout portion 150c, which is a narrow space between the long side portion 150a and the third portion 150b3 of the short side portion 150b. Alternatively, if necessary, the cutout portion 150c is omitted, and the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b can be integrated. The long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b will be collectively described as the second shielding member 150.
[0148] The second shield 150 includes an outer wall 152 as a shielding plate, and a connecting portion 153 having a base end connected to the upper end of the outer wall 152 and a distal end extending inward, but the second shield 150 does not include a member substantially parallel to the outer wall 52 on the inner side of the outer wall 52 corresponding to the inner wall 51 of the first shield 50. The outer wall 152 and the connecting portion 153 are continuous walls on the entire circumference of the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b except for the cutout portion 150c. The upper end portion of the second shield 150 is a curved upper end portion 153a of the connecting portion 153, and the upper end portion 153a in the short side portion 150b is a flat plate-shaped upper wall portion 153c.
[0149] Engagement protrusions 152c of an outwardly bulging shape as a contact portion are formed at a plurality of locations on the outer surface of the outer wall 152. In addition, the engagement protrusions 152c are portions that engage with the engagement corner portions 51c of the engagement spring portions 51a in the first shielding member 50 of the first connector 10 when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are in the mating state and that extend linearly in the length direction or the width direction of the second connector 101.
[0150] The short side portion 150b is used as a fixing portion for fixing the second shielding member 150 to the second base 111, and the fixing is achieved by an integral connection without a gap between the short side portion 150b and the vicinity of both ends in the length direction of the second base 111. Specifically, this portion is a portion that is integrated with the protruding end portion 117 when the second shielding member 150 is integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding, and the first portion 150b1, the second portion 150b2, and the third portion 150b3 are respectively integrated with the end wall portion 117a, the curved wall portion 117b, and the side wall portion 117c. This ensures that the short side portion 150b and the second base 111 are firmly integrated and will not separate.
[0151] On the other hand, when the second shielding member 150 is integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding, the fixing portion in the longitudinal direction of the long side portion 150a is integrated with the separation protrusion 117f of the opposite side wall portion 117c of the protruding end portion 117 at the inner side of the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101. In each long side portion 150a, an end joint portion 155 for fixedly connecting the long side portion 150a and the second base 111 is formed at both ends in the longitudinal direction. The end joint portion 155 serves as a fixing portion for fixing the second shielding member 150 to the second base 111, and integrally connects and fixes both ends in the longitudinal direction of the long side portion 150a and the vicinity of both ends in the longitudinal direction of the second base 111 without a gap. The end joint portion 155 is a member formed by bending a strip plate, and the base end is connected to the separation protrusion 117f of the opposite side wall portion 117c of the long side portion 150a and the tip end is embedded in the inner side of the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101. Specifically, the end joint portion 155 includes a base end portion 155a whose upper end is connected to the upper end portion 153a of the connection portion 153 as the upper end portion of the second shield 150, and a vertical portion 155b extending substantially vertically downward from the lower end of the base end portion 155a.
[0152] When the second shielding member 150 is integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding, the end joint portion 155 is integrated with the portion of the side wall portion 117c on the inner side relative to the separation protrusion 117f in the longitudinal direction of the second connector 101, the base end portion 155a is exposed on the surface of the side wall portion 117c, and the vertical portion 155b is buried in the side wall portion 117c. This ensures that the long side portion 150a and the second base 111 are firmly integrated and will not separate.
[0153] In each long side portion 150a, an intermediate joint portion 156 as a joint portion connecting the long side portion 150a and the second base 111 is formed at any position between the end joint portions 155 at both ends in the length direction. In the example shown in the figure, one intermediate joint portion 156 is formed at the center in the length direction of each long side portion 150a, but the intermediate joint portion 156 is not necessarily formed at the center in the length direction of the long side portion 150a, but may be formed at any position in the length direction of the long side portion 150a, or more than two intermediate joint portions 156 may be formed. Here, for the convenience of explanation, it will be described as a case where only one intermediate joint portion 156 is formed at the center in the length direction of each long side portion 150a.
[0154] The intermediate joint portion 156 is a component formed by bending an elongated strip plate, the base end of which is connected to the long side portion 150a and the tip end is embedded in the intermediate joint retaining portion 112d of the terminal support wall 112a. The second terminal 161 is not attached to the portion of the second base 111 corresponding to the intermediate joint portion 156. The intermediate joint portion 156 extends from the upper end of the outer wall 152 toward the mounting surface 101b of the second connector 101, and then extends toward the second base 111. The tip end of the intermediate joint portion 156 is fixed to the second base 111 and is located between the second terminals 161 adjacent to each other in the length direction of the second connector 101. Specifically, the intermediate joint 156 includes: a base end portion 156a, which has its upper end connected to the upper end portion 153a of the connecting portion 153 which serves as the upper end portion of the second shielding member 150; a first vertical portion 156b, which extends generally vertically downward from the lower end of the base end portion 156a; a first horizontal portion 156c, which extends generally horizontally from the lower end of the first vertical portion 156b toward the center of the width direction of the second connector 101; and a second vertical portion 156d, which extends generally vertically upward from the end of the first horizontal portion 156c.
[0155] When the second shielding member 150 is integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding, about half of the first horizontal portion 156c is integrated with the bottom plate 118 to be exposed on the lower surface of the bottom plate 118, and most of the second vertical portion 156d is integrated with the middle joint retaining portion 112d to be exposed on the side of the middle joint retaining portion 112d. As a result, the long side portion 150a and the middle portion of the second base 111 in the length direction are also integrated with each other, and thus have a posture and shape that are stably maintained. A portion of the middle joint portion 156 can be electrically connected to the second substrate. Specifically, the first horizontal portion 156c is preferably electrically connected to the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate.
[0156] The flange portion 154 serving as a flat portion extending outward is connected to the lower end of the outer wall 152 via a bent portion 152a bent at an angle of about 90 degrees. The bent portion 152a and the flange portion 154 are connected to the lower end of the outer wall 152 in a continuous manner around the entire circumference except for the cutout portion 150c. Note that in the example shown in the figure, small notches 154a are provided at multiple locations on the flange portion 154, but the notches 154a can be appropriately omitted.
[0157] The flange portion 154 is used as a substrate connection portion. The lower surface of the flange portion 154 is parallel to the surface of the second substrate, and the flange portion 154 is a portion connected to the connection pad on the surface by welding or the like. The connection pad is typically connected to a ground line. In addition, in addition to being a continuous wall, the upper end of the outer wall 152 is connected to, and is continuous with, such as Fig.1516 in the direction perpendicular to the outer wall 152 extending in the connecting portion 153, and the lower end of the outer wall 152 is connected to the continuous portion 153 is Fig.15 16 and the flange portion 154 of the member extending in a direction perpendicular to the outer wall 152, so the outer wall 152 is relatively rigid and resistant to deformation.
[0158] The second terminal 161 is a component integrally formed by stamping, bending, etc. a conductive metal plate, and has: an inner connection portion 165 extending in the up-down direction (Z-axis direction); a tail portion 162, as a substrate connection portion, connected to the lower end of the inner connection portion 165 and extending outward in the width direction of the second base 111; an upper connection portion 164 connected to the upper end of the inner connection portion 165; and an outer connection portion 166 connected to the lower end of the upper connection portion 164 and facing the inner connection portion 165. The tail portion 162 extends in the horizontal direction (Y-axis direction) while passing under the outer connection portion 166, and the end of the tail portion 162 is located outside relative to the outer connection portion 166. The second terminal 161 can be integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding. That is, the second base 111 is molded by filling the cavity of a mold pre-set for the second terminal 161 with an insulating material such as a synthetic resin.
[0159] As a result, the second terminal 161 is integrally attached to the terminal support wall 112a, so that at least a portion of the second terminal 161 is buried in the terminal support wall 112a of the second protrusion 112 in the second base 111, and substantially the entire surface of the inner connecting portion 165 and the upper connecting portion 164 and at least a portion of the surface of the outer connecting portion 166 are exposed on the inner side, upper surface and outer side of the terminal support wall 112a. Note that the surface of the inner connecting portion 165 and the surface of the outer connecting portion 166 serve as contact portions and contact the first terminal 61 provided in the first connector 10.
[0160] In addition, the tail portion 162 extends from the terminal support wall 112a to the outside in the width direction of the second base 111 and is connected to a connection pad connected to a conductive trace of the second substrate by soldering or the like. The conductive trace is typically a signal line.
[0161] In addition, the second terminal 161 is not necessarily integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding but may be attached to the second base 111 by press fitting, etc. Here, for convenience of description, the case of integration with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding will be described.
[0162] The second metal fitting 171 is a component integrally formed by stamping, bending, etc. a conductive metal plate, and includes: a top plate portion 172 covering at least a portion of the upper surface of the end wall portion 116a of the metal fitting attachment portion 116; and a pair of side plates 175 covering at least a portion of the outer side surface of the side wall portion 116b of the metal fitting attachment portion 116. Note that the top plate portion 172 includes a front connection portion 172a and a side connection portion 172b. The side plate 175 is connected to the end of the side connection portion 172b, and the central piece 178 is connected to the end of the front connection portion 172a. In addition, a contact piece 175a extending obliquely downward toward the bottom surface of the central groove portion 112b is connected to the upper end of the side plate 175.
[0163] The second metal fitting 171 is attached to the metal fitting attachment portion 116, wherein the side plate 175 is press-fitted into the side recess 116d from the side of the fitting surface 101a, which is the upper surface (Z-axis negative direction surface) of the second connector 101. Note that the second metal fitting 171 is not necessarily attached to the second base 111 by press-fitting, but may be integrated with the second base 111 by overmolding or insert molding. Here, for convenience of description, the case where the side plate 175 is press-fitted and held in the side recess 116d will be described.
[0164] The lower end of the side plate 175 housed in the side recess 116d opened on the mounting surface 101b side of the bottom plate 118 is exposed on the mounting surface 101b and is connected to the connection pad connected to the conductive trace connected to the second substrate by welding or the like. It should be noted that the conductive trace is described as a power line (i.e., a power line that carries electric power).
[0165] In a state where the second metal fitting 171 is attached to the metal fitting attachment portion 116, the contact piece 175a does not contact the side wall portion 116b and the like, and the contact piece 175a is a cantilever-shaped member that can be elastically deformed toward the outside in the width direction of the second connector 101. The contact piece 175a serves as a contact portion, and is in contact and conduction with the outer side surface of the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71 when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are mated. The central piece 178 also serves as a contact portion, and is in contact and conduction with the outer side surface of the connecting piece 73 of the first metal fitting 71 when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are mated.
[0166] The second metal fitting 171 serves not only as a power metal fitting for transmitting electric power but also as a protection metal fitting for protecting both ends in the length direction of the second convex portion 112 .
[0167] Furthermore, the second connector 101 is placed on the surface of the second substrate, wherein solder is applied to the mounting surface 101b side of the second shielding member 150, the second terminal 161, the second metal fitting 171, etc., and the second connector 101 is fixed and mounted on the surface of the second substrate by heating and melting the solder using a heating furnace, etc. The solder is applied by applying a solder sheet, applying solder paste, transferring paste solder, dipping, spraying, etc. Note that the means for connecting the second shielding member 150, the second terminal 161, the second metal fitting 171, etc. to the connection pads of the second substrate, etc., need not be limited to soldering but may be, for example, a conductive adhesive, etc. Again, the case of using a solder sheet will be described here.
[0168] Specifically, the solder is applied to the lower surface of the flange portion 154 corresponding to the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b of the second shielding member 150, and is also applied to the lower surface of the tail portion 162 of each second terminal 161 and the lower surface of the side plate 175 of the second metal fitting 171. Preferably, the solder is also applied to the lower surface of the first horizontal portion 156c of the intermediate joint portion 156.
[0169] When the solder applied in this manner is heated and melted and the second connector 101 is mounted on the surface of the second substrate, the bent portion 152a and the flange portion 154 continuously connected to the lower end of the outer wall 152 on the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 are connected to the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate without a gap. Therefore, the strength of the connection between the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 and the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate is high, and therefore, the strength of the entire second connector 101 surrounded by the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b is high. In addition, the electromagnetic shielding effect exerted by the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b connected to the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate without a gap is very high, and the second connector 101 surrounded by the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b is very effectively electromagnetically shielded.
[0170] In particular, the lower surface of the flange portion 154 has high smoothness. As a result, the strength of the connection between the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b and the connection pads on the surface of the second substrate can be made very high. In addition, since no gap is generated between the connection pads on the surface of the second substrate, the electromagnetic shielding effect can also be made very high.
[0171] The long side portion 150a extending in the length direction of the second connector 101 integrates the portion including both ends of the end joint portion 155 in the length direction and the relatively separated protrusion 117f of the protruding end portion 117 in the length direction of the second connector 101. In addition, the middle portion in the length direction including the end of the intermediate joint portion 156 is integrated with the bottom plate 118 and the terminal support wall 112a in the length direction of the second base 111. Thus, the flatness of the flange portion 154 in the long side portion 150a is reliably prevented from being reduced due to the warping of the second base 111, which is an elongated member made of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin. In addition, the connection between the flange portion 154 and the bent portion 152a of the long side portion 150a and the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate is reliably maintained. When the lower surface of the first horizontal portion 156c of the intermediate joint portion 156 is also welded to the connection pad on the surface of the second substrate, the flatness of the flange portion 154 of the long side portion 150a is more reliably prevented from being reduced.
[0172] Next, the operation of fitting the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 having the above-described configuration together will be described.

[0174] Here, the first connector 10 is surface mounted on the first substrate by connecting the tail portion 62 of the first terminal 61, the tail portion 72 and the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71, the bent portion 52a and the flange portion 54 continuously connected to the lower end of the outer wall 52, the first horizontal portion 55c of the end joint portion 55, and the first horizontal portion 56c of the middle joint portion 56 to the connection pad (not shown) connected to the conductive trace of the first substrate by welding. The conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the tail portion 72 and the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71 is a power line for transmitting power. The conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the bent portion 52a, the flange portion 54, the first horizontal portion 55c of the end joint portion 55, and the first horizontal portion 56c of the middle joint portion 56 of the first shielding member 50 is a ground line. In addition, the conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the tail portion 62 of the first terminal 61 is a signal line for transmitting a signal.
[0175] Similarly, the second connector 101 is surface mounted on the second substrate by connecting the tail 162 of the second terminal 161, the side plate 175 of the second metal fitting 171, the bent portion 152a and the flange portion 154 continuously connected to the lower end of the outer wall 152, the first horizontal portion 156c of the intermediate joint 156, and the first horizontal portion 156c of the intermediate joint 156 to the connection pad connected to the conductive trace (not shown) of the second substrate by welding. The conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the side plate 175 of the second metal fitting 171 is a power line for transmitting power. The conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the bent portion 152a, the flange portion 154, and the first horizontal portion 156c of the intermediate joint 156 of the second shielding member 150 is a ground line. In addition, the conductive trace connected to the connection pad connected to the tail 162 of the second terminal 161 is a signal line for transmitting a signal.
[0176] First, the operator places the mating surface 10a of the first connector 10 and the mating surface 101a of the second connector 101 facing each other and when the position of the inner protrusion 13b of the first connector 10 matches the position of the central groove 112b of the second connector 101 and the position of the protruding end 117 of the second connector 101 matches the position of the corresponding mating recess 12b of the first connector 10, the positioning of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 is completed.
[0177] In this state, when the first connector 10 and / or the second connector 101 moves in a direction approaching the other side (i.e., in the mating direction), the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101 is inserted into the accommodating portion 50d of the first shielding member 50 of the first connector 10, the inner protrusion 13b of the first connector 10 is inserted into the central groove portion 112b of the second connector 101, and the protruding end portion 117 of the second connector 101 is inserted into the mating recess 12b of the first connector 10.
[0178] Note that the connecting portion 53 of the first shield 50 exists on the mating surface 10a of the first connector 10 so as to surround the mating surface 10a of the first connector 10, and the connecting portion 153 of the second shield 150 exists on the mating surface 101a of the second connector 101. Therefore, the mating surface 10a of the first connector 10 and the mating surface 101a of the second connector 101 will not be damaged or broken even if they come into contact with each other.
[0179] Furthermore, in the initial state of mating, that is, in the state where the portion near the mating surface 101a of the second connector 101 slightly enters the housing portion 50d of the first shielding member 50 of the first connector 10, the portion near the mating surface 101a of the outer wall 152 at the short side portion 150b of the second shielding member 150 contacts the gently inclined surface near the upper end (near the mating surface 10a) of the mating positioning portion 51b in the short side portion 50b of the first shielding member 50, and is inserted into the housing portion 50d while contacting the gently inclined surface and being guided by the gently inclined surface. Thus, the second connector 101 is positioned relative to the first connector 10. The mating positioning portion 51b is integrated with the corner portion 17 of the first base 11 and is thus rigid. Therefore, the mating positioning portion 51b has high robustness, and even if the portion near the mating surface 101a of the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101 contacts the mating positioning portion 51b, the mating positioning portion 51b is not deformed or damaged.
[0180] Furthermore, the portion of the outer wall 152 near the fitting surface 101a at the short side 150b of the second shield 150 contacts the inclined surface 51d of the fitting spring portion 51a of the first shield 50 after contacting the gently inclined surface. As a result, damage to the fitting spring portion 51a can be reduced.
[0181] Therefore, as shown in Figures 21 to Fig.29 As shown, when the fitting of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 is completed, the first terminal 61 and the second terminal 161 are conductively connected, and the first metal fitting 71 and the second metal fitting 171 are conductively connected.
[0182] Specifically, a pair of terminal support walls 112a of the second protrusion 112 of the second base 111 are inserted into a pair of inner groove portions 12a of the first base 11, and the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66 of the first terminal 61, which protrude into the inner groove portion 12a and face each other, contact the outer connecting portion 166 and the inner connecting portion 165 of the second terminal 161 exposed on the outer side surface and the inner side surface of the terminal support wall 112a.
[0183] At this time, the lower connecting portion 64 of the first terminal 61 and its vicinity have a substantially U-shaped shape and are elastically deformable, so that the gap between the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66 facing each other can be elastically expanded. Therefore, the gap between the contact portion 65a on the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a on the inner connecting portion 66 is elastically expanded by the second terminal 161 inserted therebetween, and due to the elastic reaction of the contact portion 65a on the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a on the inner connecting portion 66, the second terminal 161 is elastically clamped from both sides by the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66. As a result, the contact portion 65a of the outer connecting portion 65 of the first terminal 61 and the outer connecting portion 166 of the second terminal 161 and the contact portion 66a of the inner connecting portion 66 of the first terminal 61 and the second terminal 161 of the inner connecting portion 165 maintain contact and will not separate even if subjected to impact or vibration, and thus can maintain a stable conduction state. In addition, the first terminal 61 and the second terminal 161 corresponding to each other are in a state of contact at two points (so-called two-point contact), and even if the contact at one point is released, the contact at the other point will be maintained, and thus the contact state can be stably maintained.
[0184] In this manner, the first terminal 61 and the second terminal 161 in contact with each other are continuously surrounded by the inner wall 51 and the outer wall 52 of the first shield 50 and the outer wall 152 of the second shield 150, and are further continuously surrounded, thereby being shielded extremely effectively. Therefore, good electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be obtained.
[0185] The metal fitting attachment portions 16 connected to both ends of the inner convex portion 13b in the length direction are inserted near both ends of the central groove portion 112b. The connecting piece 73 and the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71 contact the central piece 178 and the contact piece 175a of the second metal fitting 171. The contact piece 175a is elastically deformable and thus elastically displaceable in the width direction of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101. As a result, the side plate portion 74 of the first metal fitting 71 and the contact piece 175a of the second metal fitting 171 corresponding to each other maintain contact and do not separate even if subjected to impact or vibration, and thus can maintain a stable conduction state. Therefore, power can be stably transmitted.
[0186] In addition, when the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101 is inserted into the receiving portion 50d of the first shielding member 50 of the first connector 10, the outer surface of the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 contacts or approaches the inner surface of the inner wall 51 of the first shielding member 50, and as shown in FIG. 25(b) and FIG. Fig.28 As shown, the engaging protrusion 152c formed on the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 is engaged with the engaging corner portion 51c formed on the inner wall 51 of the first shielding member 50. Note that both ends of the fitting spring portion 51a of the inner wall 51 on which the engaging corner portion 51c is formed are separated from the other portions at the both ends by the slit portion 53b and are relatively flexible, and the state of being engaged with the engaging protrusion 152c of the outer wall 152 of the second shielding member 150 can be reliably maintained. As a result, the first shielding member 50 and the second shielding member 150 are locked and the release of the fitting state between the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 is prevented. In addition, the first shielding member 50 and the second shielding member 150 are in contact with each other and are conductive and at the same potential, and therefore, the electromagnetic shielding property is improved.
[0187] The long side portion 50a of the first shield 50 includes an intermediate joint portion 56 that connects its middle portion to the middle portion in the length direction of the first base 11. The long side portion 150a of the second shield 150 includes an intermediate joint portion 156 that connects its middle portion to the middle portion in the length direction of the second base 111. Thus, even if the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 have an elongated shape due to an increase in the number of poles, the flatness of the lower surface (mounting surface 10b, 101b) of the flange portion 54, 154 of the long side portion 50a of the first shield 50 and the long side portion 150a of the second shield 150 caused by the warping of the first base 11 and the second base 111 made of an insulating material such as a synthetic resin is reliably prevented. As a result, the connection of the flange portion 54, 154 and the bent portion 52a, 152a with the connection pads on the surface of the first substrate and the second substrate is reliably maintained. Therefore, good electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be maintained.
[0188] The lower surface of the first horizontal portion 56c, 156c of the intermediate joint portion 56, 156 is connected to a connection pad connected to a ground line on the surface of the first substrate and the second substrate. Thus, even if the long side portion 50a, 150a is long, the same potential can be maintained over the entire range in the length direction thereof. Therefore, even better electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be maintained.
[0189] As described above, in the present embodiment, the first connector 10 includes: a first base 11; a plurality of first terminals 61 attached to the first base 11; and a first shielding member 50 surrounding the first base 11; and the first connector 10 is engaged with the second connector 101. The second connector 101 includes: a second base 111; a plurality of second terminals 161 attached to the second base 111; and a second shielding member 150 surrounding the second base 111, and the second connector 101 is engaged with the first connector 10. The plurality of first terminals 61 and the second terminals 161 are arranged to form a row extending in the length direction of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101. The first shielding member 50 and the second shielding member 150 include end joints 55, 155, outer walls 52, 152, and intermediate joints 56, 156. The end joints 55, 155 integrally connect and fix the first shielding member 50 and the second shielding member 150 to the first base 11 and the second base 111 without gaps near both ends in the longitudinal direction of the first base 11 and the second base 111. The outer wall 52, 152 is provided outside in the width direction of the first base 11 and the second base 111 at least in the range corresponding to the columns of the first terminals 61 and the second terminals 161 in the longitudinal direction of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101, wherein the side spaces 12c, 112c are provided between the outer wall 52, 152 and the columns of the first terminals 61 and the second terminals 161. The intermediate joints 56, 156 connect the outer wall 52, 152 to the first base 11 and the second base 111 across the side spaces 12c, 112c in the range corresponding to the columns of the first terminals 61 and the second terminals 161.
[0190] Thus, the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 can have high strength while being small and low-profile, and can also provide a high shielding effect to achieve improved reliability.
[0191] The intermediate joint portion 56, 156 extends from the upper end of the outer wall 52, 152 toward the mounting surfaces 10b, 101b of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 and toward the first base 11 and the second base 111, and has its ends fixed to the first base 11 and the second base 111, between the first terminal 61 and the second terminal 161 adjacent to each other in the length direction of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101. A portion of the intermediate joint portion 56, 156 can be electrically connected to the first substrate and the second substrate mounted on the first connector 10 and the second connector 101. The flange portion 54, 154 parallel to the surface of the first substrate and the second substrate mounted on the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 can be formed on the outer wall 52, 152. The first shield 50 and the second shield 150 may include short side portions 50b, 150b that can surround both ends of the first base 11 and the second base 111 in the length direction. The short side portions 50b, 150b may be integrated with the first shield 50 and the second shield 150. The first shielding member 50 surrounds the periphery of the receiving portion 50d into which the second connector 101 is inserted and received, the outer wall 52 includes at least two fitting spring portions 51a in contact with the outer wall 152 of the second connector 101, and the intermediate joint portion 56 is formed between the fitting spring portions 51a adjacent to each other. The outer wall 152 may include an engaging protrusion 152c formed to protrude outward from the outer surface.
[0192] Next, the second embodiment will be described below. Note that for parts having the same configuration as the first embodiment, description thereof is omitted by giving them the same reference numerals. In addition, description of the same actions and effects as the first embodiment will be omitted.

[0194] In the present embodiment, the first shielding member 50 has a generally rectangular shape in a plan view, wherein four sides contact the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101. The first connector 10 includes: contact pieces 55f, which are elastically displaceable in the mating direction and are provided near the four corner portions of the first shielding member 50. The contact pieces 55f contact the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101.
[0195] Specifically, the end joint portion 55 of the first shield 50 of the present embodiment includes: a base end portion 55a having its upper end connected to the upper end portion 53a of the coupling portion 53 as the upper end portion of the first shield 50; a first vertical portion 55b extending downwardly substantially vertically from the lower end of the base end portion 55a; a first horizontal portion 55c extending substantially horizontally from the lower end of the first vertical portion 55b toward the center in the width direction (Y-axis direction) of the first connector 10; and a cantilevered contact piece 55f extending outwardly in the length direction of the first connector 10 from the outer side edge of the first horizontal portion 55c. The contact piece 55f is inclined so that a portion away from the first horizontal portion 55c is at a higher position in a side view (i.e., when viewed in the Y-axis direction) and a vertex 55g is formed near the free end of the contact piece 55f to serve as a contact point with the second shield 150 of the second connector 101. In the end coupling portion 55 according to the present embodiment, the second vertical portion 55 d and the second horizontal portion 55 e of the end coupling portion 55 according to the first embodiment are omitted.
[0196] In the first base 11 according to the present embodiment, the outer end protrusion 13c is omitted and the undercut extension 18d is formed. The undercut extension 18d is a portion formed to extend outward in the length direction of the first connector 10 from the outer end of each undercut 18b in the length direction of the first connector 10. Thus, the narrow portion on the bottom plate 18 exists in a wider range than in the first embodiment.
[0197] When the first shield 50 is integrated with the first base 11 by overmolding or insert molding, the base end portion 55a and approximately the upper half of the first vertical portion 55b are integrated with the relative separation protrusion 17f of the corner portion 17 at the portion inside the length direction of the first connector 10 to be exposed on the surface of the upper wall portion 17a and the inner wall portion 17c, and only the portion of the first horizontal portion 55c near its end is integrated with the bottom plate 18 to be exposed on the lower surface of the bottom plate 18. This ensures that the long side portion 50a and the first base 11 are firmly integrated and will not be separated. The portion of the first horizontal portion 55c except the vicinity of the end and the entirety of the contact piece 55f are located in the undercut extension portion 18d while being separated from the bottom plate 18. As a result, the contact piece 55f can be deformed freely in the mating direction, and the vertex 55g of the contact piece 55f can be deformed freely in the mating direction.
[0198] like Fig.31As clearly shown, the contact piece 55f is provided near the four corners of the first shielding member 50 which is substantially rectangular in a plan view. The vertex 55g which is the contact point of the contact piece 55f is located outside the region where the fitting spring portion 51a which is the portion in contact with the second shielding member 150 exists on the four sides of the substantially rectangular first shielding member 50. Specifically, the vertex is located outside the fitting spring portion 51a in the long side portion 50a in the length direction of the first connector 10, and is located outside the fitting spring portion 51a in the short side portion 50b in the width direction of the first connector 10.
[0199] In a side view, the contact piece 55f extends over the entire range of the cutout portion 50c separating the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shield 50 from each other in the length direction of the first connector 10. Thus, the leakage of the electromagnetic shield at the cutout portion 50c can be improved.
[0200] Note that the other configurations of the first connector 10 in this embodiment are the same as those of the above-described first embodiment, and therefore, description thereof is omitted.
[0201] Next, the configuration of the second connector 101 according to the present embodiment will be described.
[0202] FIG41 is a perspective view showing a second connector according to the second embodiment, Fig.42 43 is a top view showing a second connector according to a second embodiment, and FIG. 44 includes three views of the second connector according to the second embodiment, Fig.44 FIG. 45 is a side sectional view of the second connector according to the second embodiment, and FIG. 46 is a transverse sectional view of the second connector according to the second embodiment. Fig.47 is a first perspective side cutaway view of the second connector according to the second embodiment and is taken along Fig.42 The 3D side section view made by the line marked by the EE arrow, Fig.48 is a second perspective side cutaway view of the second connector according to the second embodiment and is taken along Fig.42 The three-dimensional side section view made by the line marked by the FF arrow, Fig.49 is a third perspective side cutaway view of the second connector according to the second embodiment and is taken along Fig.42 The three-dimensional side section view made by the line marked by the GG arrow, Fig.50 The fourth perspective side cutaway view of the second connector according to the second embodiment is taken along Fig.42 A three-dimensional side section view made along the line indicated by the HH arrow, and Fig.51 is a fifth perspective side cutaway view of the second connector according to the second embodiment and is along Fig.42 A three-dimensional side section view is made along the line indicated by the PP arrow. In FIG41, Fig.41Ais a view from obliquely below, and Fig.41B This is a view from obliquely above. In FIG. 43, Fig.43A is a side view, Fig.43B is a bottom view, and Fig.43C is a front view. In FIG. 45, Fig.45A is along Fig.42 The cross-sectional view is made along the line marked by the EE arrow, and Fig.45B is along Fig.42 A cross-sectional view is made along the line indicated by the PP arrow. In FIG46, Fig.46A is along Fig.42 The cross-sectional view is made along the line marked by the FF arrow. Fig.46B is along Fig.42 The cross-sectional view is made along the line marked by the arrow GG, and Fig.46C is along Fig.42 The cross-sectional view is made along the line marked by the HH arrow.
[0203] In the present embodiment, the second shielding member 150 includes a shielding member upper surface portion provided on the upper surface 111 a of the second base 111 , and the contact piece 55 f of the first connector 10 contacts the shielding member upper surface portion.
[0204] Specifically, Fig.44 As shown, in the present embodiment, the side wall portion 117c of the protruding end portion 117 of the second base 111 is formed to have a large dimension in the width direction and has a large flat portion on the upper surface compared to the side wall portion 117c according to the first embodiment. In the present embodiment, the upper surface of the protruding end portion 117 is referred to as the upper surface 111a of the second base 111.
[0205] The upper wall portion 153c of the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 is formed as a portion having a larger dimension in the width direction than the first embodiment corresponding to the side wall portion 117c, and in this embodiment, the upper wall portion 153c is referred to as a shield upper surface portion.
[0206] When the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are mated, the protruding end 117 is inserted into the mating recess 12b of the first connector 10, and the contact piece 55f located in the mating recess 12b contacts the upper wall portion 153c provided at the portion of the upper surface 111a corresponding to the side wall portion 117c. Thus, in the state where the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are mated, the vertex 55g of the contact piece 55f contacts the upper shielding part of the second shielding part 150 near each corner. Thus, a very high electromagnetic shielding effect can be achieved near each corner.
[0207] Note that the other configurations of the second connector 101 in this embodiment are the same as those of the above-described first embodiment, and therefore, description thereof is omitted.
[0208] Next, an operation of fitting the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 of the present embodiment together will be described.
[0209] 52 is a perspective view of a state in which the first connector and the second connector are fitted together according to the second embodiment, Fig.53 FIG54 is a plan view of the first connector and the second connector in a state of completed mating according to the second embodiment as viewed from above the first connector, FIG55 is a side sectional view of the first connector and the second connector in a state of completed mating according to the second embodiment, and FIG56 is a transverse sectional view of the first connector and the second connector in a state of completed mating according to the second embodiment, Fig.57 is a first perspective side cutaway view showing a first connector and a second connector according to a second embodiment in a state where the mating is completed and is taken along Fig.53 The cross-section diagram is made by the line marked by the arrow JJ. Fig.52A is a perspective view of the first connector as seen from above, and Fig.52B This is a stereoscopic view of the first connector as seen from the oblique bottom. Fig.54A is a side view, Fig.54B is a plan view from above the second connector, and Fig.54C is a front view. In FIG55, Fig.55A is along Fig.53 A cross-sectional view taken along the line indicated by arrow JJ; and Fig.55B is along Fig.53 The cross-sectional view is made along the line indicated by the RR arrow. Fig.56B is along Fig.53 The sectional view is made along the line marked by the arrow, and Fig.56C is along Fig.53 The sectional view is made along the line marked by the MM arrow.
[0210] In this embodiment, when the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are mated, the protruding end 117 of the second base 111 is inserted into the mating recess 12b of the first connector 10, and the upper wall portion 153c of the second shielding member 150 provided at the portion corresponding to the side wall portion 117c of the upper surface 111a of the second base 111 contacts the vertex 55g of the contact piece 55f located in the mating recess 12b, so that the vertex 55g is displaced downward (in the negative direction of the Z axis). Subsequently, the cantilevered contact piece 55f is elastically deformed, and the resulting reaction force causes the vertex 55g to be pressed against the upper wall portion 153c.
[0211] As a result, the contact between the vertex 55g of the contact piece 55f and the upper wall portion 153c is reliably maintained. Thus, the connection between the long side portion 50a to which the contact piece 55f of the first shield 50 is connected and the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 including the upper wall portion 153c is reliably maintained. The long side portion 50a of the first shield 50 and the long side portion 150a of the second shield 150 are in contact with each other. The short side portion 50b of the first shield 50 and the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 are in contact with each other. Thus, the long side portion 50a and the short side portion 50b of the first shield 50 and the long side portion 150a and the short side portion 150b of the second shield 150 are connected to each other and the equipotential can be maintained, whereby even better electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) can be maintained.
[0212] Note that other points of the mating action between the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 in this embodiment are the same as those in the first embodiment described above, and therefore, description thereof will be omitted.
[0213] As described above, in the present embodiment, the first connector 10 includes: a first base 11; a plurality of first terminals 61 attached to the first base 11; and a first shielding member 50 surrounding the first base 11; and the first connector 10 is engaged with the second connector 101. The plurality of first terminals 61 are arranged to form a row extending in the length direction of the first connector 10. The first shielding member 50 has a generally rectangular shape in a plan view, wherein four sides contact the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101. The first connector 10 includes: a contact piece 55f which is elastically displaceable in the engagement direction and is provided near the four corner portions of the first shielding member 50. The contact piece 55f contacts the second shielding member 150 of the second connector 101.
[0214] Thus, the first connector 10 can have high strength while being small and low-profile, and can also provide a high shielding effect to achieve improved reliability.
[0215] The vertex 55g of the contact piece 55f contacts the second shielding member 150 outside the region where the four sides of the first shielding member 50 contact the second shielding member 150 in a plan view. The contact piece 55f is connected to the first shielding member 50. The contact piece 55f has a cantilever shape extending in the length direction of the first connector 10. The second shielding member 150 includes an upper wall portion 153c provided on the upper surface 111a of the second base 111, and the contact piece 55f contacts the upper wall portion 153c.
[0216] Note that the basic configuration and effects of the mating state of the first connector 10 and the second connector 101 are the same as those of the above-described first embodiment, and therefore, description thereof will be omitted.
