[0038] S501-S506: Steps DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0039] The following will disclose multiple embodiments of the present invention with the accompanying drawings. For the purpose of clear description, many practical details will be described together in the following description. However, it should be understood that these practical details should not be used to limit the present invention. That is, in some embodiments of the present invention, these practical details are not necessary. In addition, in order to simplify the drawings, some conventional structures and elements will be shown in a simple schematic manner in the drawings.

[0040] In this document, when an element is referred to as "connected" or "coupled", it may refer to "electrically connected" or "electrically coupled". "Connected" or "coupled" may also be used to indicate that two or more elements cooperate or interact with each other. In addition, although the terms "first", "second", etc. are used in this document to describe different elements, the terms are only used to distinguish between elements or operations described by the same technical terms. Unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the terms do not specifically refer to or imply an order or sequence, nor are they used to limit the present invention.

[0041] Figure 1A FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a power supply system 100 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In one embodiment, the power supply system 100 includes a plurality of power supply units A1-A6, B1-B6, and C1-C6. The power supply units A1-A6, B1-B6, and C1-C6 are coupled between a power supply PS (e.g., a city power grid) and a power load PL (e.g., a machine).

[0042] In one embodiment, power supply units A1-A3, B1-B3 and C1-C3 are respectively a group of three-phase power supply, corresponding to UVW three phases. Power supply units A4-A6, B4-B6 and C4-C6 are another group of three-phase power supply, also corresponding to UVW three phases. However, the present disclosure is not limited to this, and in other embodiments, each power supply unit may also be a single-phase power supply.

[0043] Each power supply unit A1-A6, B1-B6 and C1-C6 can be a power supply, a power conversion circuit or a similar converter. In one embodiment, an AC-DC conversion circuit is provided in the power supply unit to convert the AC power provided by the power supply PS into a DC power of a suitable voltage and provide the DC power to the power load PL. Since the circuit and principle of the power supply can be understood by those skilled in the art, they will not be described in detail here.

[0044] In addition, according to the configuration of the power supply system 100 (such as the installation or setting method of the cabinet), the power supply units A1~A6, B1~B6 and C1~C6 can be divided into different rows (Rows) R1~R3. In one embodiment, the power supply units A1~A6 of the first row R1 and B1~B6 of the second row R2 are power supplies for normal operation, and the power supply units C1~C6 of the third row R3 are redundant power supplies. In other words, when the power supply system 100 is in a normal load state, the power supply units A1~A6 and B1~B6 will supply power to the power load PL according to the power provided by the supply power PS. When the power supply demand of the power supply system 100 increases and is in a peak load state, the power supply units C1~C6 will start in response to the trigger signal. The detailed operation method will be described in detail in the subsequent paragraphs.

[0045] It is important to note that the backup power supply can be adjusted according to actual needs. Figure 1A The configuration shown is limited. For example, in another embodiment, power supply units C1-C3 may be backup power supplies, and power supply units C4-C6 may be normal operating power supplies. In other embodiments, power supply units A1-A6 may be configured as backup power supplies, and the remaining power supply units may be normal operating power supplies. For ease of description, the normal operating power supply is referred to as the first power supply unit 110, and the backup power supply is referred to as the second power supply unit 120.

[0046] Figure 1B1 is a schematic diagram of a second power supply unit 120 according to the present disclosure. The second power supply unit 120 is connected in parallel to the first power supply unit 110. In one embodiment, the second power supply unit 120 includes a first-stage converter 121, a second-stage converter 122, a processor 123, and an energy storage capacitor C21. The first-stage converter 121 is coupled between the supply power PS and the energy storage capacitor C21. In addition, according to the type of the supply power PS (e.g., providing DC or AC), the first-stage converter 121 can be an AC-DC conversion circuit or a DC-DC conversion circuit.

[0047] The second stage converter 122 is coupled between the energy storage capacitor C21 and the power load PL. One end of the energy storage capacitor C21 is coupled between the first stage converter 121 and the second stage converter 122, and the other end thereof is coupled to a reference potential (eg, ground).

[0048] The processor 123 is coupled to the first-stage converter 121 and the second-stage converter 122, and can control the second power supply unit 120 to operate in "standby mode" or "power supply mode". When the power supply system 100 is in a normal load state (i.e., when the power required by the power load PL is within a normal range), the second power supply unit 120 operates in "standby mode". The power provided by the first power supply unit 110 is sufficient to meet the needs of the power load PL, so the processor 123 controls the energy storage capacitor C21 not to discharge, and controls the second power supply unit 120 not to supply power to the power load PL, or controls the power supply power of the second power supply unit 120 to be less than a preset value (e.g., extremely low power). Since people in this field can understand the method of controlling the power supply power of the second-stage converter, it will not be repeated here.

[0049] As mentioned above, when the power supply system 100 is in a peak load state and the power provided by the first power supply unit 110 cannot meet the needs of the power load PL, the second power supply unit 120 will receive a trigger signal and switch from the "standby mode" to the "power supply mode" accordingly. At this time, the processor 123 will disable the first-stage converter 121 and use the energy storage capacitor C21 to discharge, so as to supply power to the power load PL through the second-stage converter 122 to share the output current required during the peak load. This function is referred to as "current sharing" herein.

[0050] In some embodiments, the second power supply unit 120 further includes a switch circuit W21. The switch circuit W21 is coupled to the first-stage converter 121, so that the first-stage converter 121 is coupled to the supply power PS through the switch circuit W21. The processor 123 is used to control the switch circuit W21 to turn on or off to enable or disable the first-stage converter 121. In other embodiments, the processor 123 can also directly control the switch in the first-stage converter 121 to enable or disable the first-stage converter 121. Similarly, the processor 123 can also control the second-stage converter 122 in the same manner.

[0051] Accordingly, when the power load PL requests more power from the power supply system 100, the power supply system 100 can activate the second power supply unit 120 to output power through the power energy pre-stored in the energy storage capacitor C21, thereby meeting the additional power supply demand. Since the second power supply unit 120 is powered by internal power (energy storage capacitor C21) in the "power supply mode", it is not necessary to request a larger current from the power supply PS, thereby avoiding the problem that the power supply system 100 generates a current surge, which may damage the internal components of the power supply system 100.

[0052] In one embodiment, the circuit structure of the first power supply unit 110 may be the same as that of the second power supply unit 120. In another embodiment, the first power supply unit 110 may have Figure 1B The first stage converter 121 and the second stage converter 122 shown may also include a storage capacitor C21, but not a switch circuit W21. As those skilled in the art can understand various implementations of the power supply unit, they will not be described in detail here.

[0053] Figures 2A to 2C FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of load and current status of a power supply system according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 2A is a state diagram of the power supply (second power supply unit 120) not using the backup. Figure 2A As shown, the first waveform at the top is the required power of the power load PL, the second waveform is the operating power of each power supply unit, and the third waveform is the current waveform provided by the power supply PS to the power supply system 100. As can be seen from the figure, during the period from time point T1 to T2, the required power of the power load PL suddenly increases, which is a "peak load". In order to increase the output power, the first power supply unit 110 will increase the operating power. However, this action requires obtaining a larger current from the power supply PS. Figure 2A As shown in the current waveform of , a current surge will be generated at this time, which may cause damage to the components in the power supply system 100.

[0054] Figure 2BIn one embodiment of the present disclosure, the power supply system 100 has a second power supply unit 120 as a backup state diagram. Figure 2B As shown in the second waveform diagram of FIG. 1 , in the “normal load” state, the power supply system 100 outputs power only through the first power supply unit 110, and the second power supply unit 120 remains in the standby mode. In the standby mode, the second power supply unit 120 does not provide power, or the power supply is much less than the first power supply unit 110 (e.g. Figure 2B As shown, the curve PW3 is much smaller than the curves PW1 and PW2). During the time point T1-T2, when the power supply system 100 is in a "peak load", the second power supply unit 120 is activated to supply power to the power load PL through the energy storage capacitor C21. Accordingly, no current surge is generated between the supply power PS and the first power supply unit 110 / the second power supply unit 120, and the power supply demand of the peak load can be met.

[0055] See also Figure 2B As shown, in one embodiment, when the second power supply unit 120 supplies power to the power load PL through the energy storage capacitor C21 and the second-stage converter 122, if the processor 123 receives a standby signal, it means that the load state of the power supply system 100 is restored to "normal load". At this time, the processor 123 controls the energy storage capacitor C21 to stop discharging so that the second power supply unit 120 is restored to standby mode. In some embodiments, the processor 123 can enable the first-stage converter 121 or turn on the switch circuit W21 to charge the energy storage capacitor C21 instead through the power provided by the supply power PS. In addition, the processor 123 can simultaneously disable the second-stage converter 122, or change the operating frequency of the second-stage converter 122 to ensure that the second power supply unit 120 is restored to standby mode.

[0056] When the second power supply unit 120 resumes the standby mode, the processor 123 first controls the energy storage capacitor C21 to stop discharging (e.g., disabling or changing the operating state of the second-stage converter 122). At the same time, the processor 123 starts timing. When the standby mode is resumed and a reset time Tx (e.g., a power supply cycle) has passed, the processor 123 enables the first-stage converter 121 and charges the energy storage capacitor C21 through the power provided by the supply power PS.

[0057] Figure 2C In another embodiment of the present disclosure, the power supply system 100 has a second power supply unit 120 as a backup state diagram. Figure 2C and Figure 2BThe difference lies in the “charging method of the energy storage capacitor C21”. In this embodiment, when the second power supply unit 120 resumes the standby mode, the processor 123 simultaneously controls the energy storage capacitor C21 to stop discharging and enables the first-stage converter 121 to charge the energy storage capacitor C21 during a charging period of time through the power provided by the supply power source PS.

[0058] If the power supply PS provides AC power, the charging time may be a plurality of power cycles Tp. In other words, the processor 123 sets the subsequent plurality of power cycles Tp as the charging time to charge the energy storage capacitor C21 with the power provided by the power supply PS. A "power cycle" is a current cycle (e.g., a period) during which the power supply PS provides AC power to the power supply system 100. Figure 2C On the other hand, if the power supply PS provides direct current, the charging time may be a preset fixed time.

[0059] As mentioned above, in some embodiments, during the charging time (e.g., multiple power cycles) after the standby mode is restored, the processor 123 controls the charging current of the energy storage capacitor C21. In other words, the processor 123 charges the energy storage capacitor C21 with a fixed / preset current value, and fully charges the energy storage capacitor C21 within the set charging time (e.g., 3 power cycles).

[0060] As mentioned above, the second power supply unit 120 enters the standby mode and the power supply mode respectively in response to the standby signal and the trigger signal. In one embodiment, when the second power supply unit 120 has not received the trigger signal, it is in the standby mode. In the standby mode, the processor 123 enables the first-stage converter 121 to charge the energy storage capacitor C21 with the power provided by the supply power PS, ensuring that when the second power supply unit 120 is switched to the power supply mode, the energy storage capacitor C21 has enough power for use.

[0061] The following describes different ways of generating a “trigger signal” in multiple embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 3A The diagram of the second power supply unit 120 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure is shown. In one embodiment, the second power supply unit 120 further includes a detection circuit 124. The detection circuit 124 is coupled to the processor 123 and the output line of the second power supply unit 120. The detection circuit 124 is used to detect the electrical signal on the output line of the second power supply unit 120 to obtain (e.g., determine or calculate) the slew rate of the first power supply unit. The "slew rate" can reflect the load state of the power supply system 100.

[0062] As mentioned above, in one embodiment, the detection circuit 124 provides the detected slew rate as a detection signal Sd to the processor 123, so that the processor 123 can determine whether the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold. If the slew rate is determined to be greater than the peak threshold, it means that the power supply system 100 is in a peak load state. At this time, the processor 123 will automatically generate a trigger signal Sw. In other embodiments, the detection circuit 124 can automatically determine whether the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold. If the slew rate is determined to be greater than the peak threshold, the detection circuit 124 will generate a detection signal Sd and transmit it to the processor 123. In other words, the detection signal Sd can be used as a trigger signal Sw.

[0063] In some other embodiments, the trigger signal Sw may be generated according to the output current change of the first power supply unit 110 or the load prediction signal. Figure 1A and Figure 3B As shown, Figure 3B FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a second power supply unit 120 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. In this embodiment, the power supply system 100 further includes a controller 130. The controller 130 is coupled to the first power supply unit 110, the second power supply unit 120 and the power load PL, respectively, to obtain the output current change of the first power supply unit 110 (e.g., by detecting the output line of the first power supply unit 110), or to obtain the load prediction signal (e.g., by detecting the signal input to the power load PL), so as to generate a trigger signal Sw and provide the trigger signal Sw to the processor 123 of the second power supply unit 120.

[0064] As above, Figure 1A As shown, when the power supply system 100 supplies power to the power load PL, the power information of the output power is fed back to each power unit 110 / 120 as a detection signal Sd, and / or provided to the controller 130. Therefore, the processor 123 of the second power unit 120 or the controller 130 can determine the output current change of the first power unit 110 through the detection signal Sd, and then generate / obtain the trigger signal Sw.

[0065] In addition, in another embodiment, the controller 130 may also monitor the operating state of the power load PL to obtain a load prediction signal, and provide a trigger signal Sw to the second power unit 120 when the load prediction signal is greater than a preset value.

[0066] Figure 3CFIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a power supply system according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. In this embodiment, the power supply system 100 includes a detection circuit 140. The detection circuit 140 is coupled between the power supply units 110, 120 and the power load PL. The detection circuit 140 is used to detect the slew rate of the first power supply unit 110 and provide a detection signal Sd to the controller 130. The controller 130 can determine whether the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold according to the detection signal Sd, and generate a trigger signal Sw to the second power supply unit 120.

[0067] Figure 3D Schematic diagram of a power supply system according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. In this embodiment, the first power supply unit 110 includes a detection circuit 140. The detection circuit 140 is used to detect the slew rate of the first power supply unit to generate a detection signal Sd. If the first power supply unit 110 determines that the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold (e.g., determined by an internal processor or by a detection circuit), it means that the power supply system 100 is in a peak load state. At this time, the detection circuit 140 will generate a trigger signal Sw to the second power supply unit 120.

[0068] In other embodiments, the detection circuit 140 directly transmits the detection signal Sd to the second power unit 120. After receiving the detection signal Sd, the second power unit 120 determines whether the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold. If the slew rate is greater than the peak threshold, the second power unit 120 generates the trigger signal Sw.

[0069] Figure 4 Schematic diagram of a power supply system 400 according to other embodiments of the present disclosure is shown. The power supply system 400 includes a plurality of power supply units 410A and 410B, and the power supply units 410A and 410B are connected in parallel. In one embodiment, the power supply unit 410A is used as a normal power supply, and the power supply unit 410B is used as a backup power supply. However, the number of the power supply units 410A and 410B can be adjusted arbitrarily according to actual needs.

[0070] Figure 5 Flow chart of a power supply system control method according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 1A , 1B and Figure 5 As shown, in step S501 , the power supply system 100 (eg, the processor 123 or the controller 130 ) continuously detects the load status of the power supply system 100 .

[0071] In step S502 , the power supply system 100 determines whether the load state is a peak load. If the load state is not a peak load but a normal load, the second power supply unit 120 will be maintained in the standby mode.

[0072] If the load state is a peak load, in step S503, the power supply system 100 generates a trigger signal Sw. As described in the above embodiments, the trigger signal Sw can be provided by the controller 130 to the processor 123 of the second power supply unit 120, or provided by the detection circuit 124 to the processor 123, or generated by the processor 123 according to the received detection signal Sd.

[0073] In step S504, in response to the trigger signal Sw, the second power supply unit 120 switches from the standby mode to the power supply mode. At this time, the processor 123 disables the first-stage converter 121 and controls the energy storage capacitor C21 to discharge to supply power to the power load PL.

[0074] In step S505 , when the second power unit 120 is in the power supply mode, the power supply system 100 (eg, the processor 123 or the controller 130 ) continues to detect the load state of the power supply system 100 and determines whether the load state is still a peak load.

[0075] If the load state is changed to a normal load, then in step S506, the power supply system 100 generates a standby signal to switch the second power supply unit 120 from the power supply mode back to the standby mode. Similar to the generation of the trigger signal Sw, the standby signal can be provided by the controller 130 to the processor 123 of the second power supply unit 120, or provided by the detection circuit 124 to the processor 123, or generated by the processor 123 according to the received detection signal Sd.

[0076] When the second power supply unit 120 switches back to the standby mode from the power supply mode, the processor 123 controls the energy storage capacitor C21 to stop discharging, and charges the energy storage capacitor C21 with the power provided by the supply power source PS. As described above, in one embodiment, when charging the energy storage capacitor C21, the processor 123 may count a reset time, and then enable the first-stage converter 121 in the second power supply unit 120 to charge the energy storage capacitor C21 with the power provided by the supply power source PS. In other embodiments, when charging the energy storage capacitor C21, the processor 123 may control the current value of charging the energy storage capacitor C21 to a set current value, and evenly charge the energy storage capacitor C21 in a subsequent charging time (e.g., multiple power cycles Tp).

[0077] Accordingly, by discharging the energy storage capacitor C21 in the backup second power supply unit 120, the power supply system 100 can directly supplement the required output power without obtaining a larger current from the power supply PS when the power supply system 100 is in a peak load. Therefore, the power supply system 100 will not generate a current surge when the power supply system is in a peak load, thereby preventing the internal components from being damaged by the current surge while ensuring stable power supply.

[0078] The various elements, method steps or technical features in the aforementioned embodiments may be combined with each other and are not limited to the order of textual description or the order of presentation of the drawings in the present disclosure.

[0079] Although the present disclosure has been disclosed in the form of an implementation method as above, it is not intended to limit the present disclosure. Any person skilled in the art may make various changes and modifications without departing from the concept and scope of the present disclosure. Therefore, the scope of protection of the present disclosure shall be determined by the scope of the patent application.
