[0003] Patent Document 1: Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2020-115445 Summary of the invention Problems to be solved by the invention
[0004] In the above connector, a liquid-tight ring and a vibration-proof ring are required separately, and a retaining body is required to hold the vibration-proof ring, so the number of parts increases. As a countermeasure, for example, it is considered to form an integral rubber ring formed by integrating the liquid-tight ring and the vibration-proof ring. This is because: in this case, only one rubber ring is required, and the integral rubber ring can be held by the ear for holding the liquid-tight ring, so a retaining body is not required. However, when the above connector is mated with a mating connector, for example, due to the friction generated between the mating connector and the mating connector, the front end of the integral rubber ring may curl up. Solutions to Solve Problems
[0005] The connector of the present invention can be mated with a counterpart connector having a counterpart cover portion, and the connector comprises: a shell having a tower portion that can be mated in the counterpart cover portion; and a rubber plug that is externally fitted on the tower portion, the rubber plug comprising: an annular water-stop portion that is arranged between the outer circumferential surface of the tower portion and the inner circumferential surface of the counterpart cover portion when the tower portion is mated in the counterpart cover portion; a cylindrical vibration-proof portion that extends forward from the water-stop portion along the outer circumferential surface of the tower portion; and a curling-prevention portion that is mounted on the front end portion of the vibration-proof portion and that is hooked on the front end portion of the tower portion to prevent the rubber plug from curling backward. Effects of the Invention
[0006] According to the present invention, when the connector and the mating connector are in a mating state, the vibration-proof portion can suppress the shaking between the connectors, and when the connector and the mating connector are mated, the curling suppression portion can suppress the rubber stopper from curling backward. [0008] [Description of Embodiments of the Invention] First, embodiments of the present invention will be described by way of examples. (1) The connector of the present invention can be mated with a connector on the other side having a cover portion on the other side, and the connector comprises: a shell having a tower portion that can be mated in the cover portion on the other side; and a rubber plug that is externally fitted on the tower portion, and the rubber plug comprises: an annular water-stopping portion that is arranged between the outer peripheral surface of the tower portion and the inner peripheral surface of the cover portion on the other side when the tower portion is mated in the cover portion on the other side; a cylindrical vibration-proof portion that extends forward from the water-stopping portion along the outer peripheral surface of the tower portion; and a curling-preventing portion that is arranged at the front end portion of the vibration-proof portion and is hooked on the front end portion of the tower portion to prevent the rubber plug from curling backward.
[0009] According to the above-mentioned connector, the annular water-stopping portion of the rubber stopper can be used to stop water between the other side cover portion and the tower portion. In the case where the other side cover portion and the tower portion are in contact only at the water-stopping portion, the front end portion of the tower portion is likely to vibrate with the water-stopping portion as the center. Therefore, in the above-mentioned connector, since a cylindrical vibration-proof portion extending forward from the water-stopping portion along the outer circumferential surface of the tower portion is provided, the vibration of the front end portion of the tower portion can be suppressed. In the case of providing such a vibration-proof portion, when the tower portion is fitted into the other side cover portion, the rubber stopper may curl backward. However, in the above-mentioned connector, since a curling suppression portion is provided at the front end portion of the vibration-proof portion, the curling suppression portion is hooked on the front end portion of the tower portion, so that the rubber stopper can be suppressed from curling backward.
[0010] (2) Preferably, the tower portion has at least one pair of cavities opened in the front-rear direction and a partition wall separating the adjacent pair of cavities, and the curling suppression portion is bridged over the front end portion of the vibration-resistant portion and can contact the partition wall from the front. Usually, since the terminal is accommodated in the cavity, a partition wall for insulating the terminals from each other is provided between a pair of adjacent cavities. By utilizing such a partition wall, the curling portion is prevented from contacting the partition wall from the front, and the rubber stopper can be prevented from curling to the rear.
[0011] (3) Preferably, the partition wall has a partition wall opening opened forward, and the curling suppression portion enters the partition wall opening from the front. In order to prevent shrinkage during the molding of the partition wall, a partition wall opening for weight reduction is sometimes provided in the partition wall. By utilizing such a partition wall opening, the curling portion is prevented from entering the partition wall opening from the front, thereby further preventing the rubber stopper from curling backward.
[0012] (4) Preferably, the front end portion of the tower portion has a cutout portion formed by cutting between the inner wall of the partition wall opening and the outer peripheral surface of the tower portion, and the curling suppression portion enters the partition wall opening and the cutout portion from the front. The curling prevention portion is caused to enter the partition wall opening and the cutout portion, so that the curling prevention portion is firmly hooked on the front end portion of the tower portion.
[0013] (5) A plurality of protrusions are provided on the outer peripheral surface of the vibration-proof portion so as to extend in the front-rear direction, and the plurality of protrusions are provided at intervals from each other in the circumferential direction of the vibration-proof portion. When the tower portion is engaged in the other side cover portion, multiple protrusions are in contact with the inner circumferential surface of the other side cover portion. Therefore, compared with the case where the tower portion is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of the other side cover portion throughout the entire circumference, the contact area is reduced, and the friction force generated between the other side cover portion and the vibration-resistant portion is reduced, which can reduce the force required for engagement.
[0014] [Details of Embodiments of the Invention] Specific examples of the connector of the present invention are described below with reference to the drawings. The present invention is not limited to these examples, but is shown by the claims, and is intended to include all modifications within the meaning and scope equivalent to the claims.
[0015] <Implementation Method 1> Reference Figures 1 to 11 Embodiment 1 of the present invention will be described. In the following description, the direction indicated by the arrow line Z is the up-down direction, the direction indicated by the arrow line X is the front-back direction, and the direction indicated by the arrow line Y is the left-right direction, and the mating surface side of the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 is the front side. In addition, with respect to a plurality of identical components, sometimes only some of the components are marked with reference numerals, and the reference numerals of the other components are omitted.
[0016] like Figure 2 As shown, the connector 10 of this embodiment includes a housing 20 and a rubber stopper 30. The connector 10 can be mated with a mating connector 50. The connector 10 and the mating connector 50 constitute a connector unit 100.
[0017] [Mate side connector] The counterpart connector 50 includes a counterpart housing 60 and counterpart terminals 51. The counterpart housing 60 is made of an insulating synthetic resin such as Figure 7 As shown, it has a plate-shaped main body 61, a front side tube 62 extending forward from the periphery of the main body 61, and a rear side tube 63 extending rearward from the periphery of the main body 61. The front side tube 62 is in the shape of a cylindrical cover, open at the front, and the inner wall of the front side tube 62 is composed of the main body 61. [0018] like Figure 2 As shown in the figure, the front side cylinder 62, the main body 61 and the rear side cylinder 63 are arranged in sequence. The outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62, the outer peripheral surface 61A of the main body 61 and the outer peripheral surface 63A of the rear side cylinder 63 are continuous in a coplanar manner. A lock receiving portion 64 is provided on the outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62. A pair of protective walls 65 are provided on the left and right sides of the lock receiving portion 64 on the outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62. At the rear end of the rear side cylinder 63, a pair of flange portions 66 are provided to extend in the left and right directions.
[0019] The other terminal 51 is made of metal. Figure 2As shown, it is a male terminal in the shape of a protruding piece. The other side terminal 51 is formed into a predetermined shape by a known method such as stamping, cutting, casting, etc. The metal constituting the other side terminal 51 can be appropriately selected from any metal such as copper, copper alloy, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. as needed. A plating layer can also be formed on the surface of the other side terminal 51. The metal constituting the plating layer can be appropriately selected from any metal such as tin, nickel, silver, etc. as needed.
[0020] like Figure 7 As shown, the counterpart terminal 51 is held in the main body 61 in such a manner that it penetrates the main body 61 of the counterpart housing 60 in the front-to-back direction. The portion of the counterpart terminal 51 corresponding to the front-to-back barrel 62 protrudes from the main body 61 to the vicinity of the front-to-back center of the front-to-back barrel 62. The portion of the counterpart terminal 51 corresponding to the rear-to-back barrel 63 protrudes from the main body 61 to the rear of the opening edge of the rear-to-back barrel 63.
[0021] [Connectors] The connector 10 includes a housing 20, a terminal 11, and a rubber plug 30. The housing 20 is made of an insulating synthetic resin such as Figure 7 As shown, it comprises: a plate-shaped connecting portion 21; a cover portion 22 extending forward from the periphery of the connecting portion 21; a tower portion 23 extending forward from the connecting portion 21 inside the cover portion 22; a wire storage portion 24 extending rearward from the connecting portion 21; and a locking arm 25 arranged on the upper surface of the connecting portion 21.
[0022] The terminal 11 is made of metal and is a female terminal in the shape of a square tube. The terminal 11 is formed into a predetermined shape by a known method such as stamping, cutting, and casting. The metal constituting the terminal 11 can be selected from any metal such as copper, copper alloy, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. as needed. A plating layer can also be formed on the surface of the terminal 11. The metal constituting the plating layer can be selected from any metal such as tin, nickel, silver, etc. as needed.
[0023] like Figure 2 As shown, the cover part 22 is in the shape of a cylindrical cover and is open at the front. The inner wall of the cover part 22 is composed of the connecting part 21. The part of the cover part 22 corresponding to the locking arm 25 bulges upward, and the front end part of the locking arm 25 is accommodated in the bulging part.
[0024] like Figure 5 As shown, the tower 23 is a substantially square shape that is long in the left-right direction in a front view. The tower 23 has at least one pair (three in the present invention) of cavities 23A that open in the front-rear direction, and partition walls 23B that partition between the adjacent pairs of cavities 23A.
[0025] The partition wall 23B has a partition wall opening 23D opened forward at the front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23. Figure 5As shown in FIG. 2 , the partition wall opening 23D is formed in the same height range as the cavity 23A. The front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23 has a pair of upper and lower cutout portions 23F formed by cutting between the inner wall of the partition wall opening 23D and the outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower portion 23. The cutout portion 23F is formed corresponding to the front end of the tower portion 23. The partition wall opening 23D is formed corresponding to the substantially full length of the tower portion 23 in the front-rear direction.
[0026] like Figure 7 As shown, the wire storage part 24 stores the wire 12 connected to the terminal 11 and the rubber plug 13 embedded in the wire 12. The wire 12 is a well-known type in which a core wire composed of a conductive single core wire or a metal thin wire is surrounded by an insulating coating. The rubber plug 13 is clamped between the insulating coating of the wire 12 and the inner peripheral surface of the wire storage part 24, so that the cavity 23A of the tower part 23 is waterproof.
[0027] A lance 23G is formed on the bottom wall of the cavity 23A. The lance 23G is formed in a cantilever beam shape extending forward. When the terminal 11 is inserted into the cavity 23A from the rear, the lance 23G is deformed downward, and when the terminal 11 is inserted to the proper position, the lance 23G returns to its original shape and is locked with the terminal 11. Thus, the terminal 11 is held in the tower 23 in the cavity 23A.
[0028] The lock arm 25 includes a base end portion 25A that stands upward from the connection portion 21, an arm portion 25B that can swing around the base end portion 25A, a lock stop portion 25C formed at the front end portion of the arm portion 25B, and a release operation portion 25D formed at the rear end portion of the arm portion 25B. The arm portion 25B is connected to the base end portion 25A at a position near the center thereof.
[0029] When the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 are mated, the arm 25B is elastically rocked by the locking stopper 25C stepping over the locking receiving portion 64, and when the locking stopper 25C passes over the locking receiving portion 64, the arm 25B is elastically restored and the locking stopper 25C is locked to the locking receiving portion 64. Thus, the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 are maintained in the mating state.
[0030] When the release operation portion 25D is pushed downward, the front end of the arm portion 25B is rocked upward to release the locking of the lock locking portion 25C and the lock receiving portion 64. In the released state, the connector 10 and the counterpart connector 50 can be separated by pulling them apart from each other.
[0031] [Rubber stopper] The rubber stopper 30 is an elastic member made of synthetic rubber, natural rubber, etc. Fig.10 and Fig.11As shown, it is formed into a square ring with rounded corners. The rubber stopper 30 includes: a cylindrical water stopper 32; a cylindrical vibration-proof portion 33 extending forward from the water stopper 32; a plurality of anti-curling portions 34 arranged on the front end of the vibration-proof portion 33; and a pair of anti-detachment portions 35 extending from both sides of the rear end of the water stopper 32 in the left and right directions. The water stopper 32 and the vibration-proof portion 33 of the rubber stopper 30 are externally embedded in the tower portion 23.
[0032] The water stop portion 32 has a lip 31 formed continuously along the circumference of the water stop portion 32. A plurality of lips 31 (two in the present invention) are arranged in the front-to-back direction. Figure 7 As shown, the lip 31 has a portion protruding radially outward from the outer circumference of the water stop portion 32 and a portion protruding radially inward from the inner circumference of the water stop portion 32. When the tower portion 23 is fitted into the front side cylinder portion 62 of the other side housing 60, the water stop portion 32 is sandwiched between the inner circumference 62B of the front side cylinder portion 62 and the outer circumference 23E of the tower portion 23, so that the lip 31 is flattened. That is, the lip 31 is closely attached to both the inner circumference 62B of the front side cylinder portion 62 and the outer circumference 23E of the tower portion 23, so that water is stopped between the front side cylinder portion 62 and the tower portion 23.
[0033] The vibration-proof portion 33 is formed in a cylindrical shape extending forward from the water stop portion 32 along the outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower portion 23. When the front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23 is about to vibrate around the lip 31, the vibration is suppressed by the vibration-proof portion 33. Thus, the contact points of the terminal 11 and the counterpart terminal 51 can be suppressed from being worn due to vibration.
[0034] like Fig.10 and Fig.11 As shown in FIG. 1 , the anti-detachment portion 35 has a pair of protrusions 35A. The protrusions 35A are formed in a substantially conical shape. Figure 5 As shown, an anti-drop hole 21A for mounting the protrusion 35A is formed in the connection portion 21 of the housing 20. The maximum outer diameter of the protrusion 35A is larger than the hole diameter of the anti-drop hole 21A. When the protrusion 35A is mounted in the anti-drop hole 21A, the protrusion 35A is locked to the hole edge of the anti-drop hole 21A from the rear, so that the rubber stopper 30 is retained in the housing 20.
[0035] like Fig.10 As shown, the curling suppression part 34 is formed into a flat plate shape connecting the upper surface and the lower surface of the inner peripheral surface of the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof part 33. The curling suppression part 34 is long in the vertical direction, and a pair of curling suppression parts 34 are arranged in the left-right direction. The dimension of the curling suppression part 34 in the front-to-back direction is longer than the dimension in the left-right direction, and the dimension is the same throughout the vertical direction. Figure 6 and Fig. 9As shown, the curling prevention portion 34 enters the partition wall opening 23D and the pair of cutout portions 23F located at the upper and lower sides thereof from the front and is accommodated inside. When the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 are mated, when the inner peripheral surface 62B of the front side cylinder portion 62 of the mating side housing 60 contacts the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33 and the rubber plug 30 is about to curl up, the curling prevention portion 34 is hooked on the inner bottom surface (rear surface) of the pair of cutout portions 23F, thereby preventing the rubber plug 30 from curling up.
[0036] [Effects of Embodiment 1] The connector 10 of the present invention can be mated with a counterpart connector 50 having a front-side barrel portion 62, and the connector 10 comprises: a housing 20 having a tower portion 23 that can be mated in the front-side barrel portion 62; and a rubber plug 30 that is externally fitted on the tower portion 23, the rubber plug 30 comprising: an annular water-stop portion 32 that is disposed between an outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower portion 23 and an inner peripheral surface 62B of the front-side barrel portion 62 when the tower portion 23 is mated in the front-side barrel portion 62; a cylindrical vibration-proof portion 33 that extends forward from the water-stop portion 32 along an outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower portion 23; and a curling-prevention portion 34 that is disposed at a front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33 and that is hooked on a front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23, thereby preventing the rubber plug 30 from curling backward.
[0037] According to the connector 10 described above, the annular water stopper 32 of the rubber stopper 30 can stop water between the front cylinder 62 and the tower 23. When the front cylinder 62 and the tower 23 are in contact only with the lip 31, the front end 23C of the tower 23 is likely to vibrate around the lip 31. Therefore, in the connector 10 described above, since the cylindrical vibration-proof portion 33 extending forward from the water stopper 32 along the outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower 23 is provided, the vibration of the front end 23C of the tower 23 can be suppressed. When such a vibration-proof portion 33 is provided, when the tower 23 is fitted into the front cylinder 62, the rubber stopper 30 may be warped backward. However, in the connector 10 described above, since the anti-warping portion 34 is provided at the front end 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33, the anti-warping portion 34 is hooked on the front end 23C of the tower 23, and the rubber stopper 30 can be suppressed from warping backward.
[0038] Preferably, the tower portion 23 has at least one pair of cavities 23A opened in the front-rear direction and a partition wall 23B separating the adjacent pair of cavities 23A, and the curling suppression portion 34 is mounted on the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33 and can contact the partition wall 23B from the front.
[0039] Usually, since the cavities 23A accommodate the terminals 11, partitions 23B are provided between adjacent cavities 23A to insulate the terminals 11. By using such partitions 23B, the curling portion 34 is prevented from contacting the partitions 23B from the front, thereby preventing the rubber stopper 30 from curling backward.
[0040] Preferably, the partition wall 23B has a partition wall opening 23D that opens forward, and the curled portion 34 is prevented from entering the partition wall opening 23D from the front.
[0041] In order to prevent shrinkage during the molding of the partition wall 23B, a partition wall opening 23D for weight reduction may be provided in the partition wall 23B. By utilizing such a partition wall opening 23D, the curling portion 34 is prevented from entering the partition wall opening 23D of the partition wall 23B from the front, thereby further preventing the rubber stopper 30 from curling backward.
[0042] Preferably, the front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23 has a cutout portion 23F formed by cutting between the inner wall of the partition wall opening 23D and the outer peripheral surface 23E of the tower portion 23 to prevent the curled portion 34 from entering the partition wall opening 23D and the cutout portion 23F from the front.
[0043] The curling prevention portion 34 enters the partition wall opening 23D and the cutout portion 23F, so that the curling prevention portion 34 is firmly hooked on the front end portion 23C of the tower portion 23 .
[0044] <Implementation Method 2> Reference Fig.12 Embodiment 2 of the present invention will be described. Embodiment 2 is a modification of the rubber stopper 30 of Embodiment 1. Among the configurations of the rubber stopper 40 of Embodiment 2, configurations identical to those of the rubber stopper 30 of Embodiment 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof may be omitted.
[0045] The rubber stopper 40 is an elastic member made of synthetic rubber, natural rubber, etc., and is formed into a square ring with rounded corners. The rubber stopper 40 includes: a cylindrical water stopper 32; a cylindrical vibration-proof portion 43 extending forward from the water stopper 32; a plurality of anti-curling portions 34 mounted on the front end portion 43A of the vibration-proof portion 43; and a pair of anti-slip portions 35 extending from both sides of the rear end of the water stopper 32 in the left and right directions.
[0046] A plurality of protrusions 46 are integrally provided on the outer peripheral surface of the vibration-proof part 43, and the plurality of protrusions 46 extend in the front-rear direction. The plurality of protrusions 46 are provided at intervals from each other in the circumferential direction of the vibration-proof part 43. The protrusions 46 are formed linearly from the front end portion 43A to the rear end portion 43B of the vibration-proof part 43. When viewed from a direction orthogonal to the front-rear direction, the protrusions 46 are in a trapezoidal block shape.
[0047] In detail, the protrusion 46 has: a front tapered surface 46A, which is inclined in a manner that moves away from the outer peripheral surface 43C of the vibration-resistant portion 43 as it moves from the front end portion 43A of the vibration-resistant portion 43 toward the rear; a flat surface 46B, which moves toward the rear from the rear end of the front tapered surface 46A and is parallel to the outer peripheral surface 43C of the vibration-resistant portion 43; and a rear tapered surface 46C, which reaches the rear end portion 43B of the vibration-resistant portion 43 at an inclination in a manner that approaches the outer peripheral surface 43C of the vibration-resistant portion 43 as it moves from the rear end of the flat surface 46B toward the rear.
[0048] As described above, in this embodiment, the plurality of protrusions 46 are provided on the outer peripheral surface 43C of the vibration-proof portion 43 so as to extend in the front-rear direction, and the plurality of protrusions 46 are provided at intervals from each other in the circumferential direction of the vibration-proof portion 43 .
[0049] When the tower portion 23 is embedded in the front tube portion 62, the plurality of protrusions 46 are in contact with the inner circumferential surface 62B of the front tube portion 62. Therefore, compared with the case where the tower portion 23 is in contact with the inner circumferential surface 62B of the front tube portion 62 throughout the entire circumference, the contact area is reduced, and the friction force generated between the front tube portion 62 and the vibration-resistant portion 43 is reduced, which can reduce the force required for embedding.
[0050] [Other embodiments] (1) In the above embodiment, the water stop portion 32 is exemplified as having the lip 31 , but the water stop portion may not have the lip.
[0051] (2) In the above embodiment, the curling suppression portion 34 is illustrated as being provided on the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33, but the curling suppression portion may be formed so as to extend radially inward from the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33. In other words, the curling suppression portion may not connect any two locations of the front end portion 33A of the vibration-proof portion 33.
[0052] (3) In the above embodiment, the curling prevention portion 34 enters the partition wall opening 23D and the pair of cutouts 23F from the front. However, if there is no partition wall opening or cutout, the curling prevention portion may abut against the front end of the tower portion from the front.
[0053] (4) In the second embodiment, the contact area is reduced by providing the protruding strips 46 .
