Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0002] This application is based on and claims the benefit of priority from Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0099834 filed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office on July 31, 2023, the contents of which are incorporated herein in their entirety by reference. Technical Field

[0003] The present disclosure relates to a condensed ring compound, a light emitting device including the same, and an electronic device including the same. Background Art

[0004] Among the light-emitting devices, the organic light-emitting device is a self-emitting device having a wide viewing angle, a high contrast ratio, a short response time, and excellent characteristics in terms of brightness, driving voltage, and response speed compared to devices in the art, and can produce full-color images.

[0005] In an example, an organic light emitting device includes an anode, a cathode, and an intermediate layer disposed between the anode and the cathode and including an emission layer. A hole transport region may be provided between the anode and the emission layer, and an electron transport region may be provided between the emission layer and the cathode. Holes provided from the first electrode move toward the emission layer through the hole transport region, and electrons provided from the second electrode move toward the emission layer through the electron transport region. Holes and electrons recombine in the emission layer to generate excitons. Excitons may transition from an excited state to a ground state, thereby generating light. Summary of the invention

[0051] Embodiments will now be described in detail, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein the same reference numerals refer to the same elements throughout. In this regard, the present embodiments may have different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the descriptions set forth herein. Therefore, embodiments are described below only by reference to the accompanying drawings to illustrate aspects.

[0052] It will be understood that when an element is referred to as being “on” another element, it can be directly on the other element or intervening elements may be present therebetween. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being “directly on” another element, there are no intervening elements present.

[0053] It will be understood that although the terms "first", "second", "third", etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, components, regions, layers and / or parts, these elements, components, regions, layers and / or parts should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element, component, region, layer or part from another element, component, region, layer or part. Therefore, without departing from the teachings herein, the "first element", "component", "region", "layer" or "part" discussed below may be referred to as a second element, component, region, layer or part.

[0054] The terms used herein are only used for the purpose of describing specific embodiments and are not intended to be limiting. As used herein, "a (kind) (indefinite article) (a, an)", "the (the)" and "at least one (kind)" do not represent a limit of quantity, and are intended to cover both the singular and the plural, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. For example, "element" has the same meaning as "at least one element", unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.

[0055] Expressions such as “at least one of,” when preceding or following a list of elements, modify the entire list of elements and do not modify the individual elements of the list.

[0056] "Or" means "and / or". As used herein, the term "and / or" includes any and all combinations of one or more of the relevant listed items. It will be further understood that the terms "comprise" or "include" when used in this specification indicate the presence of the stated features, regions, integers, steps, operations, elements, and / or components, but do not exclude the presence or addition of one or more additional features, regions, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and / or their collections.

[0057] In addition, relative terms such as "lower" or "bottom" and "upper" or "top" may be used herein to describe the relationship of one element to another element as shown in the figure. It will be understood that in addition to the orientation depicted in the figure, relative terms are also intended to include different orientations of the device. For example, if the device in one of the figures is turned over, the element described as being on the "lower" side of the other element will be oriented on the "upper" side of the other element. Therefore, depending on the specific orientation of the figure, the exemplary term "lower" can cover both "lower" and "upper" orientations. Similarly, if the device in one of the figures is turned over, the element described as "below" or "below" the other element will be oriented "above" the other element. Therefore, the exemplary terms "below..." or "below..." can cover both "above..." and "below..." orientations.

[0058] As used herein, "about" or "approximately" is inclusive of the stated value and means within an acceptable range of deviation for the particular value as determined by one of ordinary skill in the art taking into account the measurement in question and the errors associated with the measurement of the particular quantity (i.e., the limitations of the measurement system). For example, "about" can mean within one or more standard deviations, or within ±10% or 5% relative to the stated value.

[0059] Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical and scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skill in the art to which the present disclosure belongs. It will be further understood that terms, such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries, should be interpreted as having a meaning consistent with their meaning in the context of the present disclosure and the relevant art, and will not be interpreted in an idealized or overly formal sense, unless clearly so defined herein.

[0060] Exemplary embodiments are described herein with reference to cross-sectional views as schematic diagrams of idealized embodiments. Thus, deviations from the shapes of the figures as a result of, for example, manufacturing techniques and / or tolerances are to be expected. Therefore, the embodiments described herein should not be construed as being limited to the specific shapes of the regions as illustrated herein, but rather include deviations in shape caused by, for example, manufacturing. For example, a region illustrated or described as flat may typically have rough and / or nonlinear features. Moreover, the illustrated sharp corners may be rounded. Therefore, the regions shown in the figures are schematic in nature and their shapes are not intended to illustrate the precise shapes of the regions and are not intended to limit the scope of the claims.

[0061] As used herein, the term "X group substituted with an A group, a B group, or any combination thereof" may cover the following: an X group substituted with an A group; an X group substituted with a B group; an X group substituted with an A group at one site and with a B group at another site; an X group substituted with an A group, which is further substituted with a B group; and an X group substituted with a B group, which is further substituted with an A group.
