The work tool 112 is symmetrical about a symmetry plane parallel to the longitudinal axis A1 and orthogonal to the lateral axis A2. The work tool 112 includes a collecting member 124 having a first end 126 and a second end 128 spaced apart from the first end 126 along the lateral axis A2 of the work tool 112. The collecting member 124 defines a material receiving space (not shown here). The material receiving space can hold various types of materials therein. The collecting member 124 may include a generally curved profile.
[0021] The work tool 112 also includes a first side wall 132 extending from a first end 126 of the collection member 124 along a longitudinal axis A1 of the work tool 112. The work tool 112 also includes a second side wall 134 spaced apart from the first side wall 132 along a lateral axis A2. The second side wall 134 extends from a second end 128 of the collection member 124 along the longitudinal axis A1. The first side wall 132 may be substantially similar in design and size to the second side wall 134. The work tool 112 also includes a plate member 136 coupled to the collection member 124, the first side wall 132, and the second side wall 134. The plate member 136 extends between the first side wall 132 and the second side wall 134 along the lateral axis A2. Figure 2AIn the illustrated example, the plate member 136 comprises a torque tube.
[0022] Furthermore, first sidewall 132 includes first side edge 138 such that plate member 136 is coupled to first sidewall 132 at first side edge 138. Furthermore, second sidewall 134 includes second side edge 140 such that plate member 136 is coupled to second sidewall 134 at second side edge 140.
[0023] The collecting member 124, the first side wall 132, the second side wall 134 and the plate member 136 together define a hollow space 142 of the working tool 112. In addition, the first side wall 132, the second side wall 134 or the plate member 136 defines an opening 144 that communicates with the hollow space 142 of the working tool 112. Figure 2A In the illustrated example of , the plate member 136 defines an opening 144 that communicates with the hollow space 142 of the work tool 112. The opening 144 may be defined proximate to the first end 126 or the second end 128 of the collection member 124. Figure 2A In the illustrated example, the opening 144 is defined proximate the first end 126 of the collection member 124 .
[0024] The opening 144 in the plate member 136 has a first length "L1" extending along the lateral axis A2 and a second length "L2" orthogonal to the first length "L1". The first length "L1" is greater than the second length "L2". In addition, the opening 144 includes a first region "R1". In addition, the working tool 112 may include a plurality of first through holes 146 proximate to the opening 144. Figure 2A In the illustrated example of the work tool 112, the work tool 112 includes four first through holes 146. Alternatively, the total number of first through holes 146 can vary depending on the application requirements. In some examples, the inner surface of the plate member 136 can include a plurality of weld nuts (not shown), such that each weld nut can be aligned with a corresponding first through hole 146. The weld nuts can be coupled to the work tool 112 prior to assembly of the work tool 112.
[0025] In another example, the opening 144 can be defined close to the second end 128 without any limitation. In addition, in other examples, the opening 144 can be defined in the first side wall 132 or the second side wall 134 close to the first side edge 138 and the second side edge 140, respectively. For example, as Figure 1 As shown in , the opening 144 is defined in the second side wall 134 proximate to the second side edge 140. In some examples, the opening 144 in the second side wall 134 has a first length "L3" extending along the longitudinal axis A1 and a second length "L4" orthogonal to the first length "L3". The second length "L4" is greater than the first length "L3".
[0026] Reference now Figure 2B The work tool 112 also includes a sensor mounting system 150. The sensor mounting system 150 can be connected to the first side wall 132 (see Figure 4B ), the second side wall 134 (see Figure 1 ) or plate member 136 is removably connected. Figure 3 In the illustrated example, the sensor mounting system 150 is removably coupled to the plate member 136. Alternatively, as Figure 1 As shown in , the sensor mounting system 150 may be removably coupled to the second side wall 134 .
[0027] like Figure 2B As shown in FIG. 1 , the sensor mounting system 150 includes a cover 152 having a first surface 154 and a second surface 156 (see FIG. 1 ) opposite the first surface 154. Figure 3 ). The first surface 154 and the second surface 156 may have a substantially planar profile. The cover 152 may be made of a metallic material or a non-metallic material. For example, the cover 152 may be made of sheet metal or a material that may be cost-effective and durable to be used in the construction machine 100 (see Figure 1 ) during operation. Alternatively, the cover 152 may be made of a polymer. In addition, the cover 152 includes a second region "R2". In some examples, the second region A2 of the cover 152 is larger than the opening 144 (see Figure 2A It should be noted that the second area “R2” of the cover 152 may be determined such that the cover 152 completely closes the opening 144 .
[0028] In addition, the cover 152 is removably coupled to the first side wall 132, the second side wall 134, or the plate member 136 such that the cover 152 is aligned with the opening 144. Figure 2B In the illustrated example, the cover 152 is removably coupled to the plate member 136. In addition, when the cover 152 is coupled to the first side wall 132, the second side wall 134, or the plate member 136, the second surface 156 of the cover 152 faces the hollow space 142 (see Figure 2A For example, when the cover 152 is coupled to the plate member 136, the second surface 156 of the cover 152 faces the hollow space 142. In addition, based on the coupling of the cover 152 to the plate member 136, a portion of the second surface 156 of the cover 152 may contact the plate member 136.
[0029] The sensor mounting system 150 also includes a plurality of mechanical fasteners 158 that removably couple the cover 152 to the work implement 112. The mechanical fasteners 158 may include bolts, screws, pins, etc. Figure 2BIn the illustrated example of FIG. 1 , the sensor mounting system 150 includes four mechanical fasteners 158. However, in other examples, the sensor mounting system 150 may include any number of mechanical fasteners 158 without limitation.
[0030] Reference now Figure 3 , the cover 152 defines a plurality of second through holes 153. Figure 3 In the example shown in FIG. 1 , the cover 152 includes four second through holes 153. Alternatively, the total number of second through holes 153 may vary depending on the application requirements. The second through holes 153 in the cover 152 are aligned with the first through holes 146 in the working tool 112 (see FIG. 1 ). Figure 2A ) are aligned for receiving corresponding mechanical fasteners 158.
[0031] The sensor mounting system 150 also includes a mounting bracket 160 coupled to the cover 152. The size of the mounting bracket 160 can be smaller than the first area "R1" of the opening 144 so that the opening 144 can allow the mounting bracket 160 to pass therethrough. The mounting bracket 160 can be made of a polymer without any limitation. The mounting bracket 160 is coupled to the cover 152 by one or more fasteners 162. Figure 3 In the illustrated example, the fastening device 162 includes a pair of mechanical fasteners. More particularly, the fastening device 162 includes a nut and bolt device. Alternatively, the fastening device 162 may include a screw, a pin, etc. In other examples, the fastening device 162 may include an adhesive, a spring-loaded clamp, etc., without limitation. In addition, the mounting bracket 160 may be coupled to the cover 152 by a magnetic lock device, a snap-fit device, etc.
[0032] The sensor mounting system 150 also includes a sensor 164 mounted on the second surface 156 of the cover 152. Specifically, the sensor 164 is placed within the mounting bracket 160 and mounted on the second surface 156 of the cover 152. The mounting bracket 160 can hold and support the sensor 164. In addition, when the cover 152 is coupled to the first side wall 132, the second side wall 134, or the plate member 136, the sensor 164 is at least partially received in the hollow space 142 (see Figure 2A )Inside.
[0033] In some examples, the sensor 164 is a Bluetooth sensor. For example, the sensor 164 can generate an indication of the current connection with the construction machine 100 (see Figure 1) signal of the type of work implement 112 coupled. It should be noted that the present disclosure is not limited by the type of sensor 164 or the total number of sensors 164. Therefore, the sensor mounting system 150 may include more than one sensor 164. In addition, the sensor 164 may be used for any other purpose and may be implemented as any other type of sensor, such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor, without limitation.
[0034] Figure 4A Another embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. Figure 4A As shown in FIG. 1 , the first side wall 132 of the work tool 112 defines an opening 144. The opening 144 is defined in the first side wall 132 proximate to the first side edge 138 so that the opening 144 communicates with the hollow space 142 (see FIG. 1 ). Figure 4A ). The opening 144 in the first side wall 132 has a first length "L3" extending along the longitudinal axis A1 and a second length "L4" orthogonal to the first length "L3". The second length "L4" is greater than the first length "L3".
[0035] Reference now Figure 4B The cover 152 is connected to the first side wall 132 so that the cover 152 is connected to the opening 144 (see Figure 4A ). When the cover 152 is coupled to the first side wall 132, the second surface 156 of the cover 152 faces the hollow space 142. In addition, when the cover 152 is coupled to the first side wall 132, a portion of the second side 156 of the cover 152 contacts the first side wall 132. In addition, when the cover 152 is coupled to the first side wall 132, the sensor 164 (see Figure 3 ) is at least partially received in the hollow space 142 (see Figure 2A )Inside.
[0036] refer to Figure 5A , shows a schematic perspective view of a sensor mounting system 150 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. The cover 252 can be substantially similar to Figure 2B and 3 However, the cover 252 defines one or more cutouts 266 such that the one or more cutouts 266 are aligned with the sensor 164. The cutouts 266 may be provided when the cover 252 is made of a metal material to improve the transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. Figure 5AIn the illustrated example of , the cover 252 includes a single cutout 266. The cutout 266 is substantially square in shape. However, in other examples, the cutout 266 may include a rectangular shape, a circular shape, etc. based on application requirements. It should be noted that the cutout 266 may include a shape and size that may allow for uninterrupted transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. In some examples, the cutout 266 may be covered by a clear plastic piece to protect the sensor 164 from dust and debris.

The sensor mounting system 150 includes a sensor mounting system 150 that can be used with a work tool 112 (see Figure 1-2B ) is connected to the cover 352. The cover 352 can be substantially similar to Figure 2B and 3 However, the cover 352 defines one or more cutouts 366 such that the one or more cutouts 366 are aligned with the sensor 164. Figure 5B In the illustrated example of , the cover 352 includes a pair of cutouts 366. When the cover 352 is made of a metal material, the cutouts 366 can be provided to improve the transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. The cutouts 366 are substantially rectangular in shape. In some examples, the cover 352 can define more than two cutouts 366 based on application requirements. It should be noted that the cutouts 366 can include shapes and sizes that can allow uninterrupted transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. In some examples, the cutouts 366 can be covered by a clear plastic piece to protect the sensor 164 from dust and debris.

[0040] Industrial Applicability
[0041] The work implement 112 includes a sensor mounting system 150 that enables a sensor 164 to be coupled to the work implement 112. The sensor 164 can allow information about the type of work implement 112 currently coupled to the construction machine 100 to be shared. The sensor mounting system 150 described herein can be cost-effective, durable, and retrofittable. The sensor mounting system 150 includes a cover 152, 252, 352, 452 that can be removably coupled to the work implement 112. In addition, the cover 152, 252, 352, 452 can have a simple and cost-effective design. In addition, the cover 152, 252, 352, 452 can be easily removed and replaced. In addition, the sensor mounting system 150 is designed so that when the sensor mounting system 150 is coupled to the work implement 112, the sensor 164 is disposed within a pre-existing enclosed section, i.e., within the hollow space 142 of the plate member 136 (i.e., the torque tube).
[0042] Sensor mounting system 150 may be coupled to work tool 112 without any significant changes to the structure of work tool 112. In some examples, a weld nut may be coupled with work tool 112 to minimize any modifications to the structure of work tool 112.
[0043] Furthermore, sensor mounting system 150 may be coupled to any of plate member 136, first sidewall 132, or second sidewall 134. Sensor mounting system 150 may be positioned proximate to a top edge of work tool 112, and thus, any potential for ground contact of sensor 164 may be avoided. Furthermore, when sensor 164 is received within hollow space 142, any contact of sensor 164 with material being handled by work tool 112, such as during spillage of material from work tool 112, may be avoided.
[0044] Additionally, in some examples, the cover 152 may be non-metallic to improve transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. In such examples, the cover 152 may be loosely connected to the work tool 112. However, in other examples, the cover 252, 352, 452 may be metallic. In such examples, the cover 252, 352, 452 may include a cutout 266, 366, 466 to improve transmission and reception of signals from the sensor 164. In an example, the cover 452 may include a flap 468 so that the sensor 164 may be protected from dust or debris.
[0045] Although various aspects of the present disclosure have been particularly shown and described with reference to the above embodiments, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various additional embodiments may be conceived by modifying the disclosed machines, systems, and methods without departing from the spirit and scope of the present disclosure.
