When a liquid ink composition is provided in the opening BW-OH and the provided ink composition is polymerized by a thermal curing process or a photocuring process, the light control patterns CCP1, CCP2 and CCP3 may be formed. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2 may be formed by an inkjet printing method, and the third light control pattern CCP3 may be formed by an exposure process.

[0086] In the display device DD in the embodiment, the light emitting element EMD may provide a first color light. In the embodiment, the first color light may be blue light. For example, in the light control layer CCL in the embodiment, the first light control pattern CCP1 may include red quantum dots that convert the first color light provided by the light emitting element EMD into red light that is a second color light, and the second light control pattern CCP2 may include green quantum dots that convert the first color light provided by the light emitting element EMD into green light that is a third color light. The third light control pattern CCP3 may transmit the first color light provided by the light emitting element EMD, and may not include quantum dots.

[0087] In the specification, quantum dots refer to crystals of semiconductor compounds. Depending on the size of the crystals, quantum dots can emit light with various wavelengths. By adjusting the ratio of elements in the quantum dot compound, quantum dots can emit light with various wavelengths.

[0088] The diameter of the quantum dots may be in the range of, for example, about 1 nm to about 10 nm.The quantum dots may be synthesized by a wet chemical process, a metal organic chemical vapor deposition ("MOCVD") process, a molecular beam epitaxy ("MBE") process, or the like.

[0089] The wet chemical process is a method of growing quantum dot particle crystals after mixing an organic solvent and a precursor material. When the crystal grows, the organic solvent can naturally act as a dispersant that coordinates with the surface of the quantum dot particle crystal and can adjust the growth of the crystal. Therefore, in the wet chemical process, the growth of the quantum dot particle crystal can be controlled by a process that is easier and cheaper than the MBE process or a vapor deposition process such as the MOCVD process.

[0090] Quantum dots may include Group III-VI semiconductor compounds, Group II-VI semiconductor compounds, Group III-V semiconductor compounds, Group I-III-VI semiconductor compounds, Group IV-VI semiconductor compounds, Group II-IV-V semiconductor compounds, Group IV elements or compounds, or any combination thereof.

[0098] The elements included in the multi-component compound such as the binary compound, the ternary compound, and the quaternary compound may be present in the particle at a uniform concentration or a non-uniform concentration. That is, the chemical formula represents the type of elements included in the compound, and the ratio of the elements in the compound may be different. In the embodiment, for example, AgInGaS 2 Can represent AgIn x Ga (1-x) S 2 (x is a real number between 0 and 1).

[0099] The quantum dot may have a single structure or a core-shell structure in which the concentration of an element included in the corresponding quantum dot is uniform. In an embodiment, for example, a material included in the core and a material included in the shell may be different from each other.

[0100] The shell of the quantum dot can be used as a protective layer for maintaining semiconductor properties by preventing the chemical properties of the core from changing and / or a charging layer for applying electrophoretic properties to the quantum dot. The shell can include a single layer or multiple layers. The core-shell structure can have a concentration gradient in which the concentration of the element in the shell decreases toward the core.

[0101] In an embodiment, the shell of the quantum dot may include a metal or non-metal oxide, a semiconductor compound, or any combination thereof. In an embodiment, the metal or non-metal oxide may include a silicon oxide such as SiO 2 、Al 2 O 3 、TiO 2 、ZnO、MnO、Mn 2 O 3 , Mn 3 O 4 , CuO, FeO, Fe 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 , CoO, Co 3 O 4 Binary compounds of NiO, such as MgAl 2 O 4 、CoFe 2 O 4 、NiFe 2 O 4 and CoMn 2 O 4 In an embodiment, as described in the present specification, the semiconductor compound may include a III-VI semiconductor compound, a II-VI semiconductor compound, a III-V semiconductor compound, a I-III-VI semiconductor compound, a IV-VI semiconductor compound, a II-IV-V semiconductor compound, or any combination thereof. [0102] The quantum dots may have a full width at half maximum ("FWHM") of the emission wavelength spectrum of about 45 nm or less, specifically about 40 nm or less, and more specifically about 30 nm or less, and within this range, color purity and color reproducibility may be improved. In addition, since the light emitted by the quantum dots is emitted in all directions, the optical viewing angle may be improved.

[0103] In addition, the form of the quantum dot may specifically include nanoparticles, nanotubes, nanowires, nanofibers, nanoplates, etc. having a spherical shape, a pyramidal shape, a multi-arm shape, or a cubic shape.

[0104] Since the energy band gap can be adjusted by adjusting the size of the quantum dots or adjusting the ratio of elements in the quantum dot compound, light with various wavelengths can be obtained in the quantum dot light-emitting layer. Therefore, by the above-mentioned quantum dots (by using quantum dots with different sizes, or by using quantum dots with different ratios of elements in the quantum dot compound), a light-emitting element that emits light with various wavelengths can be realized. In detail, the size of the quantum dots or the ratio of elements in the quantum dot compound can be selected so as to emit red light, green light and / or blue light. In addition, quantum dots can combine light with various colors to emit white light.

The scatterer may include titanium oxide (TiO 2 ), zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ), aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), indium oxide (In 2 O 3 ), zinc oxide (ZnO) or tin oxide (SnO 2 ) etc. as metal oxides. In addition, the scatterer may include acrylic resin or urethane resin as an organic material. The scatterer may scatter light in all directions regardless of the input angle and substantially does not convert the wavelength of the input light. Therefore, the side visibility may be improved.

In an embodiment, the first light-control pattern CCP1 may include first quantum dots and scatterers dispersed in the base resin, the second light-control pattern CCP2 may include second quantum dots and scatterers dispersed in the base resin, and the third light-control pattern CCP3 may include scatterers dispersed in the base resin.

The third width W3 may be greater than the first width W1 and the second width W2. The third width W3 may be less than the sum of the first width W1 and the second width W2. In an embodiment, for example, the third width W3 may be in a range of approximately 6 μm or more and approximately 7 μm or less. The sum of the first width W1 to the third width W3 may be in a range of approximately 13 μm or more and approximately 15 μm or less. The sum of the first width W1 to the third width W3 may be greater than the first width W1 and the second width W2. Figure 6 The distance between two adjacent light-control patterns among the first light-control pattern CCP1, the second light-control pattern CCP2, and the third light-control pattern CCP3 shown in FIG.

[0139] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the opening BW-OH may include a first sub-opening BW-SOH1 defined by the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2 and a second sub-opening BW-SOH2 defined by the 1-1st side surface SS1-1 and the 1-2nd side surface SS1-2. The width of the first sub-opening BW-SOH1 in the second direction DR2 may gradually increase in the fourth direction DR4. The maximum width W4 of the first sub-opening BW-SOH1 in the second direction DR2 may be in the range of about 34.8 μm or more and about 35.8 μm or less.

[0140] The width of the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 in the second direction DR2 may be constant in the fourth direction DR4. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and the width of the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 in the second direction DR2 may gradually decrease in the fourth direction DR4. That is, as the distance from the first sub-opening BW-SOH1 increases, the width of the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 in the second direction DR2 may gradually increase.

[0141] refer to Figures 5 to 7A, the first side wall SW1 adjacent to the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2 may include a first inclined surface IS1 inclined in a direction away from the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2. When the inkjet process is performed by an inkjet printing method, the minimum width of the inkjet process may be approximately 34.0 μm or more. When the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2 are formed by an inkjet process, since the first side wall SW1 adjacent to the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2 includes the first inclined surface IS1, even in a high-resolution design having a first distance D1 and a relatively small separation distance in the second direction DR2 between the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2, a process margin for ensuring the printing quality of the first light control pattern CCP1 and the second light control pattern CCP2 can be ensured. As a result, a display device DD capable of performing a fine inkjet process can be provided (refer to Figure 1 ).

[0142] refer to Figure 7B , the first side wall (or non-inclined side wall) SW1a may include a 1-1 side wall SW1-1a and a 1-2 side wall SW1-2a. [0152] FIG. 10A to FIG. 10E is a schematic diagram showing an embodiment of the operation of a method for manufacturing a portion of a display device according to the present disclosure. FIG. 10A to FIG. 10E Describes the manufacture of a display device DD (reference Figure 1 ) in the light control panel OP (reference Figure 3A ) method. In the following, FIG. 10A to FIG. 10E In the embodiment of the present disclosure, the manufacturing Figure 3A Some of the operations of the display device DD shown in FIG. 2 will be shown and described as examples.

[0153] refer to Fig. 10A , the preliminary separation pattern BMP-P may be disposed on the substrate member SUB. In manufacturing the display device DD according to the present disclosure (refer to Figure 1 ) method, the base member SUB may include a base substrate BL (refer to Figure 3A ) and disposed on the base substrate BL (reference Figure 3A ) on the color filter layer CFL (reference Figure 3A ).

[0154] refer to Fig. 10B and Fig. 10C , an operation of arranging a mask MSK on the preliminary separation pattern BMP-P and patterning the preliminary separation pattern BMP-P by the mask MSK may be performed. The mask MSK may be a halftone mask including regions having different transmittances within the mask MSK. The opening BW-OH may be defined in the preliminary separation pattern BMP-P by the mask opening OP-M and the slit portion SLP formed in the mask MSK. The slit portion SLP may have a relatively low transmittance. Accordingly, the patterned shape of the preliminary separation pattern BMP-P may be changed. The 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2 may be formed in a portion overlapping the slit portion SLP in a plan view.

[0155] The opening BW-OH including the first sub-opening BW-SOH1 and the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 may be defined by adjusting the patterning through the mask MSK including the slit portion SLP. That is, a separation pattern BMP in which the opening BW-OH is defined may be formed. The width W5 of the mask opening OP-M in the second direction DR2 may be the same as the width of the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 in the second direction DR2. In addition, the width W6 of the slit portion SLP may be the same as the width of the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2 in the second direction DR2. Through the patterning process, the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2 may have a non-liquid repellent property.

[0156] refer to Fig. 10D , the ink composition CCP-P may be provided in the opening BW-OH by an inkjet process. In detail, the ink composition CCP-P may be provided in the opening BW-OH by a nozzle NZ of an inkjet printer. The ink composition CCP-P may include a base monomer, quantum dots, and a scatterer. Although not shown, in the manufacture of the third light control pattern CCP3 (reference Figure 3A ), the ink composition CCP-P may include a base monomer and a scatterer, and may not include quantum dots.

[0157] In the ink composition CCP-P, hexamethylene diacrylate, tetraethylene glycol diacrylate, dipropylene glycol diacrylate, tripropylene glycol diacrylate, etc. may be used as a base monomer. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and monomers that do not affect the light emitting properties of quantum dots and can be polymerized may be used without limitation.

[0158] The ink composition CCP-P may be provided to overlap the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2. The ink composition CCP-P provided on the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2 may flow down from the 1-1st inclined surface IS1-1 and the 1-2nd inclined surface IS1-2, and may be provided in the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 (refer to Fig. 10C ). Accordingly, a sufficient amount of the ink composition CCP-P can be uniformly provided in the entire second sub-opening BW-SOH2 without a region of the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 to which the ink composition CCP-P is not applied. In addition, the ink composition CCP-P can be provided in the second sub-opening BW-SOH2 having a relatively small width, thereby ensuring a process margin for ensuring printing quality.

[0159] refer to Fig.10E, an operation of curing the ink composition CCP-P may be performed. By curing the ink composition CCP-P by irradiating the ink composition CCP-P with ultraviolet rays emitted from the light generating unit LGA, a light control pattern CCP may be provided. The light control pattern CCP may be Figure 3A However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto, and the operation of curing the ink composition CCP-P may be performed through a thermal curing process, or may be omitted.

[0160] The light control panel included in the display device of the present disclosure may include a light control pattern and a separation pattern that separates the light control pattern. The separation pattern may include a plurality of side walls, and an inclined surface that is inclined in a direction away from the light control pattern may be formed in the side wall adjacent to the light control pattern. When the light control pattern is formed by an inkjet process, a sufficient process margin can be ensured so that a light control pattern with a relatively small width can be formed by the inkjet process. As a result, a display device capable of a fine inkjet process can be provided.
