[0047] The specific examples provided in the description given below should not be construed as limiting the scope and / or applicability of the appended claims. The lists and groups of examples provided in the description given below are not exhaustive unless expressly stated otherwise.
[0048] The present invention relates to utilizing one or more user interfaces of a system (such as an elevator system, escalator, moving walkway, automatic or access door, intelligent building system) to provide information to an individual based on the individual's experience with the system. Figure 1 An example of a system 100 in which the present invention may be implemented is schematically shown. The system 100 may include a plurality of operating systems 120 configured to provide the discussed services to individuals. For example, in the case of an elevator system, the operating system 120 may consist of a plurality of elevators, i.e., portions of the elevator system 100 that may be configured to transport passengers from one floor to another. The operation of the system 100 is controlled by a control system 110. For purposes of the present invention, a plurality of user interfaces 130 of the system 100 are described in detail in detail below. Figure 1100 is shown as a separate entity. The control system 110 of the system 100 is directly or indirectly communicatively connected to other entities of the system 100 to transfer information between entities and control them. Further, the system 100 can be provided with access to data stored in the data storage 140. The data can be stored in a database hosted by the data storage 140. The data stored therein can include various types of data, including data related to individuals accessing the building. According to the present invention, the data can indicate at least about the user experience of the system 100. Data indicating the user experience can be established based on various information. For example, the information may include data indicating at least one of the following: the access history of individuals in the building, the operation history of the operating system 120 by individuals in the building in question or in another building with the same type of elevator system, the biometric data of individuals (e.g., age...), etc.
[0049] Figure 2 At least some applicable user interfaces 130 of the system 100 are schematically illustrated. The system 100 may include one or more displays, one or more readers, one or more wireless communication interfaces, one or more microphones, one or more keyboards / buttons, one or more speakers, one or more sensors, etc. as user interfaces 130 of the system 100. Some of the user interfaces 130 may be bidirectional, i.e., a user may provide inputs and receive outputs through them. Such user interfaces 130 may be, for example, a touch screen as a display and a wireless communication interface, through which a user may communicate, for example, with her / his terminal device, such as Figure 1 denoted by 150 in the figure. (One or more) readers may be, for example, devices with which an individual can interact with a device owned by the individual. Such a device may be, for example, an RFID tag, a magnetic card, or a terminal device 150, for example, wherein the reader can receive predefined data stored in the corresponding device by physical or wireless coupling. (One or more) sensors may, for example, include one or more camera devices. The user interfaces 130 of the system 100 may be located at various locations at the space where the system 100 resides, and at least some of them may reside at locations different from at least some other user interfaces 130.
[0050] Figure 3 An example of a method according to an embodiment of the invention is schematically shown. The purpose of the method is to control at least one user interface 130 of a system 100 , such as an elevator system, in order to be able to provide information to individuals in the premises of the system 100 .
[0051] First, the control system 110 is configured to determine 310 an indication value describing a user experience about the system 100 residing in a place that the individual is visiting based on data describing the individual. The data describing the individual used for determining 310 can be received in any way, for example by receiving it from the individual, and it can be any kind of data with the help of which the individual can be identified at least at the level that the data about the individual stored in the data storage 140 (if such data is available at all from the data storage 140) can be queried and / or at least determined. The data indicating the identity of the individual can be received through at least one user interface 130, wherein the data can be input to the control system 110 and received by the control system 110. Therefore, the data indicating the identity of the individual can be received from the terminal device 150 of the individual through a wireless communication interface to which the terminal device 150 is connected, wherein the wireless communication interface can refer to a communication interface through a mobile communication network, through a wireless local area network, through a near field communication (NFC), RFID, etc. The data fragments transmitted for the purpose of identifying the individual can be stored in the memory of the terminal device 150 and automatically or manually obtained therefrom, for example, by an application program to transmit it to the control system 110. Naturally, it can be arranged that a user can input a data strip identifying an individual through a user interface of the terminal device 150. Further, data identifying an individual can also be obtained in some other way, for example by using an interface 130 that is communicatively connected to the control system 110 in a manner required by the interface. The interface can refer to any type of reader device in this article, and an individual can interact with any device or the like (such as a tag or a magnetic card) using the reader device to transmit the data strip. Naturally, an individual can input data identifying an individual with a keyboard / button, a touch screen or even through a microphone, as an example of a user interface suitable for inputting data indicating an individual's identity into the control system 110. Further, a sensor such as a camera can be used to receive data about an individual, wherein the image data can be processed to identify an individual at a necessary level. Processing can, for example, include applying a facial recognition algorithm to image data representing at least the individual in question. Other applicable recognition methods can be based on palm print / fingerprint detection, gait recognition, iris recognition or other known biometric recognition methods.
[0052] As can be derived from the previous description, the received data related to the individual allows the control system 110 to perform a step of determining 310 the user experience of the individual relative to the system 100 based on the received data related to the individual. The determination 310 can be based on the generation of a query to a data storage, which is arranged to store data describing the user experience based on the individual. The accuracy of the data representing the user experience and stored in the data storage 140 can be based on various methods. The definition of the user experience can be based on the number of visits that the individual has completed in the venue, for example, but more complex methods can also be applied. For example, the user experience can be defined at multiple levels, such as "initializer", "normal user" and "expert user", and each of these levels can have requirements so that the individual can be classified into one of these categories. For example, individuals who do not store any data entries in the data storage 140 are always considered to be initializers and remain there until they have visited the building and / or used the elevator system 120X times. Accordingly, expert users can be those individuals who are permanent residents in the house, for example. In addition, ordinary users are between these two users. As mentioned above, the classification performed in the described manner is a non-limiting example, and other classification methods can be applied. In other words, data store 140 may return indicative values describing a user's experience with respect to system 100 in response to a query, where the identity of the individual may be used as an attribute in the query.
[0053] In response to receiving the indication value from the data storage 140, the control system 110 is configured to compare 320 the indication value with a plurality of reference values. According to an embodiment of the present invention, each reference value is defined to represent a user group having a predefined user experience with respect to the system 100 in question. Therefore, different reference values represent different user experiences with respect to the system 100 in question. For example, one reference value may correspond to a user group of inexperienced users of the system 100. In other words, the purpose in the comparison step is to find out the user experience of the individual with respect to the system 100. For example, if the data storage has returned data describing that the individual is a "beginner", the control system 110 may be configured to generate a correspondence with the reference value defined for inexperienced users of the system 100 in the comparison 320 step. For example, the same type of correspondence may be found with respect to other user groups defined based on experience with the system 100, such as ordinary experience and expert experience. The term "correspondence" should be understood as a discrete match in the comparison value, but it may also cover methods where the reference value is defined as a range, and if the indication value belongs to a certain range, a corresponding mode corresponding to the reference value range is selected.
[0054] According to some other example embodiments, it may be arranged that the data storage 140 directly returns an indication that the individual is a user with a certain predetermined experience in response to a query. Thus, the comparison 320 is implemented as a collaboration of the control system 110 and the data storage 140. Even in this approach, the control system 110 performs a detection by the comparison 320 that the indication received from the data storage 140 corresponds to a reference value defining an experience level.
[0055] In the event that the comparison 320 does not generate a detection of an inexperienced user, the control system 110 may continue to monitor and determine 310 the indicator value in the manner described, such as from Figure 3 Step 320 in returns to step 310 as indicated by the arrow.
[0056] In case the control system 110 generates by comparison 320 a detection that the monitored individual represented by the indicator value corresponds to a user group represented by a reference value indicating an experience with respect to the system 100, it causes the control system 100 to generate 330a a control signal so that the setting of the mode of at least one user interface 130 of the system 100 corresponds to the mode of at least one user interface 130 represented by a reference value among a plurality of reference values to which the indicator value detected in the comparison 320 corresponds (such as matches). For example, the detection by comparison may, for example, cause at least one of the following to occur: i) setting the mode of at least one user interface 130 of the elevator system 100 to an initiator mode; setting the mode of at least the user interface 130 to a normal mode. Naturally, the user interface 130 may have a default mode that is activated unless other information is received, which default mode may, for example, be a normal mode. Therefore, in case the described method generates a result that the mode should be set to a normal mode, the control system 110 is configured to confirm the maintenance of the normal mode that has been performed by the user interface 130. Figure 3 In the example, various modes selectable by comparison are represented by the following terms: first mode, second mode, third mode, ..., nth mode.
[0057] Setting the user interface 130 to one of the modes by generating 330 a control signal causes the user interface 130 to apply predefined settings in order to output data to the individual in question. The settings may relate to technical parameters applied in the respective user interface 130, such as brightness, color scheme, volume, etc., for outputting information to the individual in question. Furthermore, in the case where the user interface merely receives the data to be output and adjusts the appearance of the information according to the settings applied by the user interface 130, the settings may also define the font size, font type, font color, etc. applied. Thus, it may be arranged, for example, that the control system selects the data to be output and transmits it to the user interface, which applies the settings according to the user experience in the output of the data.
[0058] In some further example embodiments, the control system 110 may be configured to select 410 data for outputting data based on user experience, such as in Figure 4 As described in the upcoming description shown. The selection of data 410 can refer to selecting a database from a plurality of databases to be applied to output information to the individual in question. The database, for example, defines a plurality of pieces of information to be output to an individual via the output device 130, wherein the plurality of pieces of information correspond to a user experience level in the selected database. Therefore, the control system 110 is provided with access to a plurality of databases, and in response to detecting a mode in which the user interface 130 is instructed to be set, the control system 110 can select a database for outputting information to an individual. Different databases can, for example, define that the same piece of information is given together with wording, fictitious data, or audio data dedicated to a corresponding user group (e.g., an inexperienced user versus a user with ordinary experience). Now, combining the selection of a database with the setting of the technical parameters of the user interface 130 according to the user experience, personalized instructions can be provided to individuals.
[0059] The description of at least some aspects of the present invention is described so that the user interface 130 and the individual reside so that the individual can receive information intended for her / him by outputting the information via the user interface 130. In a more complex method, a house (such as one or more floors in a building) may be provided with a plurality of user interfaces 130, and the user interface 130 for outputting data selected for the individual is selected according to the location of the individual in the house. This method requires monitoring the location of the individual in some way and comparing the location with the user interface 130 at the floor. Monitoring of the location of the individual can be achieved by applying an indoor positioning system configured in the house. The indoor positioning system can, for example, be arranged to monitor the location of a device (such as a terminal device 150, a tag or any similar thing) carried by the individual in question. The corresponding device can, for example, be communicatively connected to one or more base stations of the indoor positioning system during a visit to a place, wherein the connection generates data that enables the location of the individual. Alternatively or additionally, the location of the individual can be based on the interaction of the individual with an access device (such as a door, a gate, etc.) in the house, for example, an interaction with an access device (such as a tag, etc.), which allows the individual to be identified based on the data transmitted during the interaction. Still further, monitoring may be accomplished with sensors, such as cameras, configured to generate data by which individuals may be identified and monitored in the premises. The location data received from the monitoring solution is compared with the location data of the user interface 130 in the premises, and a control signal may be generated to the user interface 130 residing in a predefined vicinity of the individual to output selected information to the individual.
[0060] As already mentioned, aspects of the invention described herein are primarily described by reference to a control entity such as Figure 5The functionality of the control system 110 may also be integrated into another computing device. Figure 5 Schematically illustrates an example of a device that can be configured to implement the operation of a computing device and thus the operation of the control system 110. Therefore, the communication interface 530 may include one or more modems, antennas, and any other hardware and software for enabling, for example, to perform communication under the control of the processor 510. In addition, an I / O (input / output) component may be arranged together with the processor 510 and a portion of the computer program code 525 to provide a user interface for receiving input from a user (such as from a technician) and / or providing output to a user of the device when necessary. In particular, the user I / O component may include a user input device, such as one or more keys or buttons, a keyboard, a touch screen or a touchpad, etc. The user I / O component may include an output device, such as a speaker, a display, or a touch screen. [0062] The memory 520 and at least a portion of the computer program code 525 stored therein may also be arranged to, together with the processor 510, cause the apparatus to perform at least a portion of the method as described herein. The processor 510 may be configured to read from and write to the memory 520. Although the processor 510 is depicted as a respective single component, it may be implemented as a respective one or more separate processing components. Similarly, although the memory 520 is depicted as a respective single component, it may be implemented as a respective one or more separate components, some or all of which may be integrated / removable and / or may provide permanent / semi-permanent / dynamic / cacheable memory.
[0063] The computer program code 525 may include computer executable instructions that implement functions corresponding to the steps implemented in the method when loaded into the processor 510 of the corresponding control system 110. As an example, the computer program code 525 may include a computer program consisting of one or more sequences of one or more instructions. For example, one of the devices can be communicatively connected to the other devices and, for example, share data of the method so that the other device performs at least one other part of the method. As a result, the method executed in the distributed computing environment generates control signals indicating the allocation of responsibilities as described. For example, some steps of the method can be shared, for example, between the control system 110, the controller of the elevator system 120, and the controller of the monitoring system 130.
[0068] An advantage of the invention as described herein with a number of examples is that it enables at least one user interface of an elevator system to be individually controlled based on the user experience with respect to the described elevator system. As non-limiting examples, such systems 100 can be, for example, elevator systems and access doors.
[0071] The specific examples provided in the description given above should not be construed as limiting the applicability and / or interpretation of the appended claims. The lists and groups of examples provided in the description given above are not exhaustive unless expressly stated otherwise.
