Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to a fixing device and method for installing a lamp panel. Background Art
[0002] Recently, wall-mounted lighting products composed of multiple lamp panels with different shapes have become increasingly popular because users can freely assemble multiple lamp panels onto a wall according to their preferences to form a lighting product with a desired shape and a larger area. When a user installs lamp panels one by one onto a wall, he or she needs a way to position or align a new lamp panel relative to an existing lamp panel on the wall. Currently, this positioning or alignment of a new lamp panel relative to an existing lamp panel basically depends on the lamp panel itself. That is, the user aligns the new lamp panel with the existing lamp panel on the wall and at the same time attaches the new lamp panel to the wall. This installation method usually uses an adhesive to attach the lamp panel to the wall, and it may be difficult to use fasteners such as screws to install the lamp panel, which may be desirable because it can provide a more secure attachment. At the same time, this installation method may not be convenient because the positioning or alignment of the new panel must be carried out together with attaching the lamp panel to the wall. Therefore, there is a need for an installation fixing device or method that can easily and firmly install the lamp panel and / or can use fasteners such as screws. Summary of the Invention
[0003] According to one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a fixing device for mounting a plurality of lamp panels onto a surface. The plurality of lamp panels have a plurality of different polygonal shapes that can be assembled to form an assembled lamp panel with a larger area. Each lamp panel of the plurality of lamp panels has a lamp panel body in a polygonal shape and a mounting plate detachably connected to the lamp panel body. The fixing device includes one or more alignment edges and a plurality of openings, the size and shape of each opening being designed to receive the corresponding mounting plate of the lamp panel therein, and the position of each opening relative to at least one alignment edge of the fixing device being the same as or corresponding to the position of the corresponding mounting plate relative to at least one edge of the lamp panel to which the corresponding mounting plate is connected.
[0004] According to another aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a method for mounting a plurality of lamp panels onto a surface by using the fixing device. The method includes the following steps: positioning the fixing device relative to an existing lamp panel already mounted on the surface; positioning or matching the mounting plate of the new lamp panel into the opening of the fixing device and attaching the mounting plate to the surface; removing the fixing device from the existing lamp panel; and attaching the lamp panel body of the new lamp panel to the mounting plate.

The lamp panel 272 also has three slots 274a, each of which is formed in one of the sides 274.
[0021] In Figures 2A to 2F In the illustrated embodiment, the side length of the lamp panel body 212 is the same as that of the lamp panel body 242 and / or the lamp panel body 272. As is understood, by using the sizes and shapes of the lamp panels 210, 240, and 270, users can freely assemble them on the wall according to their own preferences to form an assembled lamp panel with a desired shape and a larger area.
[0022] As Figure 1 As shown, the fixing device 100 has a fixing device body 110, which has the same or similar size or shape as the lamp panel body 212. That is to say, the fixing device body 110 is a hexagonal shape with six sides, and each of the six sides has a length substantially the same as that of the side 214 of the lamp panel body 212, and an angle of 120 degrees is formed between every two adjacent sides. The fixing device body 110 further includes a central opening 112, and the size and shape of the central opening are designed to accommodate the mounting plate 220.
[0023] The fixing device main body 110 further includes a rhombus portion 120 and a triangle portion 130, and each of the rhombus portion and the triangle portion is a part of the hexagonal shape of the fixing device main body 110. The rhombus portion 120 has a rhombus shape that shares two sides (i.e., sides 144, 146) with the hexagonal shape of the fixing device main body 110. That is, sides 144 and 146 are two sides of the hexagonal shape of the fixing device main body 110, and they are also two sides of the rhombus shape of the rhombus portion 120. The rhombus portion 120 further includes a central opening 122, and the size and shape of the central opening are designed to accommodate the mounting plate 250. The triangle portion 130 has a triangle shape that shares one side (i.e., side 142) with the hexagonal shape of the fixing device main body 110. That is, side 142 is one side of the hexagonal shape of the fixing device main body 110, and it is also one side of the rhombus shape of the triangle portion 130. The triangle portion 130 further includes a central opening 132, and the size and shape of the central opening are designed to accommodate the mounting plate 280. The fixing device main body 110 further includes three protrusions 142a, 144a, and 146a, and each of the three protrusions is disposed on one of the sides 142, 144, and 146. The size and shape of each of the protrusions 142a, 144a, and 146a are designed to be received in one of the slots 214a, 244a, 274a of the lamp panel main bodies 212, 242, and 272. The sides 142, 144, and 146 of the fixing device main body 110 and the corresponding protrusions 142a, 144a, and 146a can be used to position and align the fixing device main body 110 relative to the existing lamp panel, and the sides 142, 144, and 146 and the corresponding protrusions 142a, 144a, and 146a can be referred to as the first alignment side 142, the second alignment side 144, and the third alignment side 146 and the first protrusion 142a, the second protrusion 144a, and the third protrusion 146a.
[0024] At Figure 1 and Figures 2A to 2F In the illustrated embodiment, the fixing device 100 has substantially the same shape as the lamp panel 210, and the position of the opening 112 in the fixing device 110 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 220 in the lamp panel body 212. Similarly, the diamond-shaped portion 120 has substantially the same shape as the lamp panel 240, and the position of the opening 122 in the diamond-shaped portion 120 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 250 in the lamp panel body 242. The triangular portion 130 has substantially the same shape as the lamp panel 270, and the position of the opening 132 in the triangular portion 130 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 280 in the lamp panel body 272. In some other embodiments, the fixing device may not have a complete hexagonal shape. As long as the positions of the openings 112, 122, 132 relative to the sides 142, 144, 146 of the fixing device are the same as or corresponding to the positions of the respective mounting plates 220, 250, 280 relative to the sides of the lamp panels 210, 240, 270, the fixing device can still work properly.
[0025] Figures 3A to 3F Shows the process of installing the lamp panel 210 to the existing lamp panel 310 by using the fixing device 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. Figures 4A to 4H Shows the process of installing the lamp panel 240 to the existing lamp panel 410 by using the fixing device 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. Figures 5A to 5F Shows the process of installing the lamp panel 270 to the existing lamp panel 510 by using the fixing device 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the existing lamp panels 310, 410, 510 may be lamp panels that have been installed on the wall, and the lamp panels 210, 240, 270 may be new lamp panels to be installed on the wall relative to the existing lamp panels 310, 410, 510. In some other embodiments of the present disclosure, the existing lamp panels 310, 410, 510 and the lamp panels 210, 240, 270 may be installed on any suitable surface. In Figures 3A to 3F 、 Figures 4A to 4H and Figures 5A to 5F In the illustrated embodiment, the lamp panels 210, 240, 270 are installed relative to an existing lamp panel having a hexagonal shape. The present disclosure is not limited thereto, and there may be any suitable number of existing lamp panels that have been installed on the wall before the lamp panels 210, 240, 270, and the existing lamp panels may have any suitable shape, such as a lamp panel having a hexagonal shape, a lamp panel having a diamond shape, or a lamp panel having a triangular shape.
[0026] The process of installing the hexagonal-shaped lamp panel 210 to the existing lamp panel 310 by using the fixing device 100 will be described below by referring to Figures 3A to 3F A description is given. The process includes the step of positioning the fixture 100 relative to an existing lamp panel 310 that has been installed on a wall or surface, as Figure 3A shown. The step of positioning the fixture 100 includes aligning one of the alignment edges 142, 144, and 146 of the fixture 100 with the edge 314 of the existing lamp panel 310, and inserting the corresponding protrusions 142a, 144a, 146a into the slots 314a. After the fixture 100 is correctly positioned or aligned relative to the existing lamp panel 310, the central opening 112 (which may hereinafter be referred to as the first opening) of the fixture body 110 is also correctly positioned relative to the existing lamp panel 310.
[0027] The process further includes the step of positioning or mating the mounting plate 220 of the lamp panel 210 into the first opening 112 of the fixture 100, as Figure 3B shown. The size or shape of the first opening 112 of the fixture 100 is designed to receive the mounting plate 220 of the lamp panel 210 such that once the mounting plate 220 is positioned or received in the first opening 112, the mounting plate is correctly positioned or placed relative to the fixture 100 and thus also correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 310. The process further includes the step of attaching the mounting plate 220 to the wall or surface by an adhesive or fasteners (not shown). In one or more embodiments, the fasteners may be screws and / or the mounting plate 220 may be fixed to the wall by fasteners or screws extending through the central hole 222 of the mounting plate 220. In one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, the first opening 112 is a through-opening and thus the mounting plate 220 can be positioned in the first opening 112 and then easily and firmly attached to the wall or surface by an adhesive or fasteners. In some cases, it is advantageous to attach the mounting plate by using fasteners such as screws because such fasteners can achieve a very firm attachment of the mounting plate 220 to the wall or surface.
[0028] The process further includes the step of removing or detaching the fixture 100 from the lamp panel 310 and the mounting plate 220, as Figure 3C shown. Since the mounting plate 220 has been firmly attached to the wall or surface, after the fixture 100 is removed or detached from the lamp panel 310, the mounting plate 220 is correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 310.
[0029] The process further includes the step of positioning or installing the bridge piece 232 into the slot 314a of the lamp panel 310, as Figure 3D shown. The process further includes the step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 212 to the mounting plate 220, as Figure 3E As shown. The step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 212 to the mounting plate 220 also includes receiving the bridge member 232 in the slot 214a of the lamp panel 210. The lamp panel body 212 can be attached to the mounting plate 220 by any suitable means (such as snap connection). Since the mounting plate 220 has been correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 310, once the lamp panel body 212 is installed or attached to the mounting plate 220, the lamp panel body 212 can be correctly positioned or placed relative to the existing lamp panel 310. In particular, as previously discussed, the position of the opening 112 relative to the alignment edges 142, 144, and 146 of the fixing device 100 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 220 relative to the edges of the lamp panel 210. Therefore, the edge 214 of the lamp panel body 212 can be correctly aligned with the edge 314 of the existing lamp panel 310, as Figure 3F shown.
[0030] Hereinafter, the process of installing the diamond-shaped lamp panel 240 to the existing lamp panel 410 by using the fixing device 100 will be described with reference to Figures 4A to 4H As shown. The process includes the step of positioning the fixing device 100 relative to the existing lamp panel 410 that has been installed on the wall or surface, as Figure 4A shown. Figure 4A The steps shown are similar to Figure 3A the steps shown, except that in Figure 4A , a specific alignment edge (i.e., the alignment edge 144) is aligned with the edge 414 of the existing lamp panel 410, and a specific protrusion (i.e., the protrusion 144a formed on the alignment edge 144) is received in the slot 414a. Once the fixing device 100 is correctly positioned or aligned relative to the existing lamp panel 410, the opening 122 of the fixing device body 110 (which can be referred to as the second opening hereinafter) can also be correctly positioned or aligned relative to the existing lamp panel 410.
[0031] The process further includes the step of positioning or mating the mounting plate 250 of the lamp panel 240 into the second opening 122 of the fixing device 100, as Figure 4B shown. The size or shape of the second opening 122 of the fixing device 100 is designed to receive the mounting plate 250 of the lamp panel 240, such that once the mounting plate 250 is positioned or received in the second opening 122, the mounting plate is correctly positioned or placed relative to the fixing device 100, and thus it is also correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 410.
[0032] The process further includes the step of removing or detaching the fixing device 100 from the lamp panel 410 and the mounting plate 250, as Figure 4C As shown. Since the mounting plate 250 has been firmly attached to the wall or surface, after the fixing device 100 is removed or disassembled from the lamp panel 410, the mounting plate 250 is correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 410.
[0033] The process further includes the step of positioning or installing the bridging member 232 into the slot 414a of the lamp panel 410, as Figure 4D shown. The process further includes the step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 242 to the mounting plate 250, as Figure 4E shown. The step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 242 to the mounting plate 250 also includes receiving the bridging member 232 in the slot 244a of the lamp panel 240. As previously discussed, the position of the opening 122 relative to the alignment edges 144 and 146 of the fixing device 100 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 250 relative to the edges of the lamp panel 250. Thus, the edge 244 of the lamp panel body 242 can be correctly aligned with the edge 414 of the existing lamp panel 410, as Figure 4F shown. Figures 4A to 4F The process shown can be similar to Figures 3A to 3F the process shown, and its detailed description can be omitted.
[0034] Figures 4G to 4H Shows the process of attaching the lamp panel 240 to the existing lamp panel 410 in another orientation. Figures 4G to 4H The process shown can be similar to Figures 4A to 4F the process shown, except that in Figure 4A the step shown, the alignment edge 144 is aligned with the edge 414 of the existing lamp panel 410, and the protrusion 144a formed on the alignment edge 144 is received in the slot 414a, while in Figure 4G the step shown, the alignment edge 146 is aligned with the edge 414 of the existing lamp panel 410, and the protrusion 146a formed on the alignment edge 146 is received in the slot 414a. As Figure 4H shown, the lamp panel 240 attached to the existing lamp panel 410 is in an orientation different from Figure 4F the orientation shown.
[0035] The process of installing the triangular-shaped lamp panel 270 to the existing lamp panel 510 by using the fixing device 100 will be described below with reference to Figures 5A to 5F The process includes the step of positioning the fixing device 100 relative to the existing lamp panel 510 that has been installed on the wall or surface, as Figure 5A shown. Figure 5A The step shown is similar to Figure 3A the step shown, except that in Figure 5A In this case, a specific alignment edge (i.e., alignment edge 142) is aligned with an edge 514 of the existing lamp panel 510, and a specific protrusion (i.e., protrusion 142a formed on the alignment edge 142) is received in the slot 514a. Once the fixing device 100 is correctly positioned or aligned relative to the existing lamp panel 510, the opening 132 of the fixing device body 110 (which may be hereinafter referred to as the third opening) can also be correctly positioned or placed relative to the existing lamp panel 510.
[0036] This process further includes the step of positioning or mating the mounting plate 280 of the lamp panel 270 into the third opening 132 of the fixing device 100, as Figure 5B shown. The size or shape of the third opening 132 of the fixing device 100 is designed to receive the mounting plate 280 of the lamp panel 270, such that once the mounting plate 280 is positioned or received in the third opening 132, the mounting plate is correctly positioned or placed relative to the fixing device 100, and thus it is also correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 510.
[0037] This process further includes the step of removing or detaching the fixing device 100 from the lamp panel 510 and the mounting plate 280, as Figure 5C shown. Since the mounting plate 280 has been firmly attached to the wall or surface, after the fixing device 100 is removed or detached from the lamp panel 510, the mounting plate 280 is correctly positioned or placed relative to the lamp panel 510.
[0038] This process further includes the step of positioning or installing the bridging member 232 into the slot 514a of the lamp panel 510, as Figure 5D shown. This process further includes the step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 272 to the mounting plate 280, as Figure 5E shown. The step of installing or attaching the lamp panel body 272 to the mounting plate 280 also includes receiving the bridging member 232 in the slot 274a of the lamp panel 270. As previously discussed, the position of the opening 132 relative to the alignment edge 142 of the fixing device 100 is the same as the position of the mounting plate 280 relative to the edge of the lamp panel 270. Therefore, the edge 274 of the lamp panel body 272 can be correctly aligned with the edge 514 of the existing lamp panel 510, as Figure 5F shown. Figures 5A to 5F The process shown can be similar to the process shown Figures 3A to 3F and its detailed description can be omitted.
[0039] As Figures 3A to 3F 、 Figures 4A to 4H 、 Figures 5A to 5F As shown, a single fixture 100 can be used to facilitate positioning or mounting a hexagonal, diamond, or triangular shaped light panel to an existing light panel that is already mounted to a wall or mounting surface. In one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, the first opening 112, the second opening 122, and the third opening 132 are through openings, and thus the mounting plates 220, 250, and 280 can be installed in the corresponding openings and then easily and securely attached to the wall or surface by adhesive or fasteners. In some cases, it is advantageous to attach the mounting plates by using fasteners such as screws because such fasteners can achieve a very secure attachment of the mounting plates 220, 250, and 280 to the wall or surface.
[0040] In the embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings, there are three different shapes of lamp panels, namely, a hexagonal lamp panel, a rhombus lamp panel, and a triangular lamp panel. The present disclosure is not limited thereto. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the lamp panel may have a plurality of polygonal shapes, as long as the lamp panels having a plurality of polygonal shapes can be assembled to form a lighting product having a desired shape and a larger area. The fixture may have a corresponding polygonal shape.
[0041] In the embodiment shown in the drawings, the fixture 100 has a hexagonal shape with six sides. The present disclosure is not limited thereto. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the fixture 100 may not have a complete hexagonal shape. On the contrary, the fixture 100 may have any suitable shape as long as it has an alignment edge and an alignment opening correctly placed relative to the alignment edge.
[0042] Figures 3A to 3F , Figures 4A to 4H and Figures 5A to 5F 1 shows the steps of installing a light panel to an existing light panel by using the fixing device 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not limited thereto. For example, in some embodiments, the protrusions 142a, 144a, 146a and the slots 214a, 244a and 274a may be omitted.
