Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to a helmet, and more particularly to a safety helmet. BACKGROUND

[0002] Industrial safety helmets are critical to protecting workers from head injuries in dangerous environments such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, and other industrial settings. These helmets are designed to protect against impacts, falling objects, electrical shock, and other potential hazards. A key component of many modern industrial helmets is eyewear, which provides additional protection for the face and eyes. However, current eyewear integrated into these helmets is often complex, making it cumbersome for users. Metal parts such as screws can interfere with the ability of the helmet to meet electrical safety requirements. Additionally, users find it challenging to remove or move the lenses (e.g., pivot the lenses away from and towards a position in front of the user’s eyes), which limits the flexibility and usability of the helmet in dynamic work environments.

[0003] The inventors have found many deficiencies and problems in the prior art and practice that are the subject of the embodiments described herein. Through effort, ingenuity, and innovation, many of these deficiencies and problems have been addressed by the development of solutions included in the embodiments of the present disclosure, some examples of which are described in detail herein. SUMMARY

[0004] A brief summary of some example embodiments is presented below to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the present disclosure. This summary is not an extensive overview, and is neither intended to identify key or critical elements nor to delineate the scope of the disclosure. It is also to be understood that the scope of the present disclosure includes many potential embodiments in addition to those presented below, some examples of which will be further described in the detailed description presented later.

[0005] In an example embodiment, a safety helmet is disclosed. The safety helmet includes a shell defining a rim and including a pocket, and an adapter assembly including a shell adapter positioned within the pocket of the shell, the shell adapter including a bore, a lens adapter including a body defining a bore, a hook extending from the body and positioned on the rim of the shell, a curved slot extending in a circumferential direction around the bore, a tab, and a connector positioned within the bore of the shell adapter and the bore of the lens adapter. Further, the shell is positioned between the shell adapter and the lens adapter; the safety helmet also includes a lens including a lens wheel at an end of the lens. Further, the lens wheel is positioned within the curved slot of the lens adapter and is removably snapped by the tab. Further, the curved slot of the lens adapter is configured to allow the lens to move from a first position to a second position when a force of a sufficient magnitude is applied to the lens and to prevent the lens from moving from the first position to the second position when a force of an insufficient magnitude is applied to the lens.
