A method and system for synchronizing software repository and client versions

Abstract

This application provides a method and system for synchronizing software repository and client versions. The method includes: constructing a hierarchical storage structure for a software package management repository; jointly mounting the base layer and incremental layers; and writing all layer identifiers and corresponding metadata into a layer index file on the server. When the client performs a software package installation or update operation, it reads the latest layer identifier from its local storage, sends a verification request to the server, the server reads the latest layer identifier from the layer index file, compares it with the layer identifier uploaded by the client, generates a verification result, and returns the verification result to the client. The client then retrieves the missing incremental layer file based on the verification result, updates the local hierarchical storage structure and layer identifiers, jointly mounts all local storage layers, and performs a layer merging judgment. This application ensures the synchronization of software repository updates and avoids resource waste.
