A composition and method for reducing the corrosivity of demineralized water in a recirculating water system

By adding a combination of alkaline substances, hydrogen peroxide, and hydroxycarboxylate to demineralized water, an oxide film is formed to protect the surface of carbon steel, solving the corrosion problem of demineralized water under high temperature conditions and achieving a low-cost and environmentally friendly corrosion reduction effect.

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a composition for reducing the corrosiveness of desalted water in a circulating water system and a method for reducing the corrosiveness of desalted water in a circulating water system, the composition containing an alkaline substance, hydrogen peroxide and a hydroxyl carboxylic acid salt; the mass ratio of the content of the alkaline substance, hydrogen peroxide and the hydroxyl carboxylic acid salt in the composition is 1:(2-80):(0.1-7). The composition of the present disclosure can effectively reduce the corrosion rate of carbon steel when the desalted water is not subjected to oxygen removal treatment and contains iron ions, and the operation process is simple and the operation cost is low.
