AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing PAPR equipment requires stopping operation when changing batteries, and is bulky or inconvenient to use in confined spaces. The filter position and shape are also unreasonable, affecting operational flexibility.

Method used

A compact PAPR is designed with a detachable housing structure. The battery ports are located on both sides of the housing, the blower unit is installed between the battery ports, and the filter extends across the housing surface. It is equipped with a control system that automatically switches to battery power and can be remotely controlled via wireless devices. It supports battery state of charge detection and automatic switching.

Benefits of technology

It enables uninterrupted operation when changing batteries, reduces the size and weight of the device, facilitates use in various wearing positions, and improves operational flexibility and battery management convenience.

Abstract

An electrically powered air purifying respirator includes a housing having an inlet to allow air to enter from outside the housing to inside the housing and an outlet to discharge air from inside the housing to a facepiece connected to the housing. The inlet and outlet are located on opposite edges of the housing. A filter is mounted within the housing such that air entering through the inlet must pass through the filter before passing through the outlet. A pair of receptacles extend along opposite sides of the housing. At least one of the receptacles has a battery releasably retained therein. An optional battery can be included in each of the receptacles. A blower unit is mounted within the housing between the receptacles to draw air through the inlet and through the filter and to direct the air through the outlet. A control system is connected to the battery to power the blower unit. One face of the housing defines a sub-housing to position the filter on the face to extend across substantially all of the blower unit and the receptacles and across substantially all of the one face of the housing and further includes a removable cover to enclose the sub-housing and to allow replacement of the filter. The cover also defines the air inlet.
