Description

[0001] The invention relates to electrically conductive connections of a foil conductor to at least two floating contacts.

[0002] A connector system typically consists of a plug and a socket. To compensate for tolerances between the two during mating, either elastic deformation of the contacts is necessary or the contacts must be mounted in a floating manner within the plug or socket housing.

[0003] If two adjacent, floating contacts, such as in a two-pin connector, are electrically connected via a common flexible foil conductor, the possible relative movement between the two contacts leads to stresses in the contact between the foil and the contact, for example, at the solder joint. These stresses can lead to failure of the connection.

[0004] JP 2002-334 617 A discloses a flat cable comprising several flat conductors arranged parallel to one another. The end of each flat conductor is connected to a terminal.

[0005] JP 2001-250 609 A discloses a flat cable made of a synthetic resin base material with a plurality of parallel, strip-shaped conductors protruding from the edge of the base material, wherein one conductor has an exposed end portion. One end portion is electrically connected to a terminal.

[0006] It is therefore the object of the invention to electrically connect a foil conductor to at least two floating contacts in such a way that the two adjacent contacts can move independently of each other without the contact between the foil conductor and the contact being impaired.

[0007] This object is achieved according to the invention by an electrically conductive connection of a foil conductor to at least two floating contacts with the features of claim 1.

[0008] The core of the invention is that the foil conductor, which has one conductor track per contact, has a slot between each of the conductor tracks at the contact-side end such that the foil conductor is formed as a single foil conductor tab in the region of a contact, and that the foil conductor tab is electrically connected to the contact in a materially bonded manner in the region of the conductor track. This allows, in particular, a movement of the two contacts relative to each other to a limited extent without stressing the electrical connection between a contact and the corresponding conductor track of the corresponding foil conductor tab.

[0009] According to the invention, an electrically conductive connection ensures that when the contacts move relative to each other, a mechanical load only occurs on the relief pins and not on the contact pin that establishes the electrical connection.

[0010] An electrically conductive connection of a foil conductor to at least two floating contacts according to claim 2 represents a reliable and easy-to-implement connection between the foil conductor tab and the contact.

[0011] Thanks to the ability to float the contacts in the plug and / or socket, tolerance compensation between the two components of the connector system does not require flexibility within the components. This allows each component to be designed to be shorter, preferably shorter. This enables a very compact connector system.

[0012] Further advantages and features of the invention will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a single contact, Fig. 2 two adjacent contacts with a slotted foil conductor.

[0013] Fig. 1 shows a contact 1 designed as a blade contact, which can be made of copper or brass, for example. The contact 1 has a contact pin 2 on its upper side arranged between two relief pins 3. The relief pins 3 engage, without play, in corresponding relief openings 6 in the foil conductor tab 5 in the area of the conductor track 11. The contact pin 2 engages, with play, in a corresponding contact opening 7 in the foil conductor tab 5 in the area of the conductor track 11. In order to clarify the play-free engagement of the relief pins 3 and the play-affected engagement of the contact pin 2, Fig. 1, the electrically conductive connection between the foil conductor tab 5 and the contact 1 is not shown. This type of electrically conductive connection of the contact 1 to the foil conductor 4 allows the contact to be moved in almost any direction without mechanical stress on the electrically conductive connection.

[0014] Fig. Figure 2 shows two adjacent, floating contacts 1 with a common foil conductor 4. The foil conductor 4 has a conductor track 11 for each contact 1. The foil conductor 4 has a slot 8 between the conductor tracks 11 at the contact-side end such that the foil conductor 4 is designed as a single foil conductor tab 5 in the area of a contact 1. As shown in Fig. 1 is here in Fig.2, the electrically conductive connection between the foil conductor tab 5 and the contact 1 is not shown in order to emphasize the difference between the engagement of the pins 2, 3 in the foil conductor tab 5 with and without play. This makes it clear that, both during a movement of an individual contact 1 and during a movement of the two contacts 1 relative to each other, the electrically conductive connection of a contact 1 to the foil conductor 4 is not mechanically stressed and thus cannot be permanently damaged.
