Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a device for cutting plate-shaped workpieces, in particular for cutting tiles, with a base plate for placing the workpiece and with a guide along which a cutting tool can be moved in a cutting line.
[0002] EP 1 074 365 A2 describes a tile cutter with a base plate in which a slider with a first corner recess is located. Opposite this corner recess is a fixed second corner recess. Attached to the slider is a stop bracket that projects transversely to the cutting line and supports an angle stop whose stop edge runs parallel to the cutting line.
[0003] US 5,169,045 A describes a tile cutter which also has two opposing corner cutouts.
[0004] WO 2012 / 152784 A2 discloses a tile cutter with a stop arm that is pivotally attached to a base plate.
[0005] DE 3 702 239 A1 discloses a tile cutter with a base plate to which a side stop can be attached in various angular positions.
[0006] EP 0 501 053 A1 describes a tile cutter with a base plate that has two ends pointing away from each other. At each end of the base plate there is a rail support, between which run two guide rails, along which a tool carrier can be moved. The tool carrier carries a cutting wheel carrier, at the end of which is a cutting wheel. The cutting wheel carrier can be pivoted about a pivot axis that runs perpendicular to the cutting line. When a tile is cut with such a tool, the cutting wheel runs over the edge of the tile, tensioning a compression spring. If the cutting wheel runs over a tile edge that runs diagonally to the cutting line, as happens with a diagonal cut, the cutting wheel carrier is subjected to a force component perpendicular to the cutting line, which can cause the cutting wheel to deflect sideways. This force component can also cause a displacement of the tile resting on the base plate perpendicular to the cutting line.
[0007] US 5,373,835 A discloses a tile cutter with a base plate and two opposite corner recesses which can be moved along the cutting line, each for receiving a corner of a tile to be cut, wherein one of the corner recesses is fastened so as to be movable along the cutting line.
[0008] FR 1175303 A discloses a tile cutter with opposing corner stops, each for holding a tile to be cut, wherein one of the corner stops is movably mounted along the cutting line.
[0009] The invention is based on the object of specifying measures by which the diagonal cutting function is improved.
[0010] The problem is solved by the invention specified in the claims.
[0011] First and foremost, a device for cutting plate-shaped workpieces is proposed, comprising a base plate for supporting the workpiece and a guide along which a cutting tool can be moved along a cutting line. A functional element has a stop flank that runs at a 45° angle to the cutting line. A stop element, which is firmly connected to the base plate, has a stop support and an angle stop attached to it, which forms a stop edge that runs parallel to the stop flank.
[0012] The functional element can absorb the transverse forces that arise during a diagonal cut.
[0013] In a first embodiment of the invention, the functional element forms guide flanks along which a carrier carrying the dividing tool, in particular an arm carrying a cutting wheel, can slide. The arm carrying the cutting wheel can be pivotally attached to a tool carrier that can be moved along the guide formed by rails. The pivot axis about which the arm can pivot runs transversely to the direction of extension of the guide, which runs in the cutting direction. The lower, free end of the arm carrying the cutting wheel is preferably located between two guide flanks. A groove preferably extends between the two guide flanks, through which groove the end of the arm carrying the cutting wheel can move when the tool carrier is moved along the guide. If, for example, the cutting wheel runs against an edge of a tile to be cut during a diagonal cut, which runs diagonally to the cutting direction, the cutting wheel is lifted against the force of a spring until it rests on the top of the tile, acted upon by the tensioned spring, to create a fracture notch. Due to the diagonal edge, a force component is formed that is directed transversely to the cutting direction and acts on the cutting wheel carrier. If the latter is made of plastic or another elastic material, the cutting wheel carrier tends to deflect sideways. A tendency to deflect sideways can also be caused by bearing play in the pivot bearing or by bearing play in the guide of the tool carrier along the guide. The two guide flanks, which run parallel to each other in the cutting direction, prevent any lateral deflection when the cutting wheel hits the tile edge, which runs diagonally to the cutting line. To ensure that the guiding function is maintained throughout the entire upward movement of the cutting wheel, the guide flanks can continue over the top side of the tile. In particular, they can continue in the form of lugs that extend over the top side of the tile when the tile rests against one or more stops of the functional element. In this variant, the functional element fulfills the function of a guide element or a guide flank support. In a further variant of the invention, the functional element forms one or more stops to fix a tile to the base plate. A first stop support is preferably located on the base plate. This fixed stop support has a transverse stop against which a side surface of a tile can be placed if a cut is to be made that runs transversely to this edge. The fixed stop support preferably also has a corner stop, in particular formed by a recess. The recess is located in the cutting line. A corner of the tile to be cut can be inserted into it so that this corner is fixed in the cutting line. The functional element can have a corner stop opposite this corner stop, which is also formed by a recess, into which an opposite corner of the tile can be inserted such that the cutting line runs through the two opposite corners of the tile. In a further development of the invention, the base plate has a stop support, which is in particular formed by a rail that extends transversely to the cutting direction. An angle stop is movably attached to this rail. The angle stop has a stop flank that, for example, is at a 45° angle to the cutting direction. The functional element has an angle stop flank that runs parallel to this stop flank. Preferably, the functional element is designed to be symmetrical with respect to the cutting line, so that it forms two angle stop flanks. In this variant, the functional element performs the function of a stop element. The functional element is in particular a movable stop support. Preferably, the functional element is designed such that it is both a guide flank support and a stop support. In order to be able to adapt the position of the functional element to tiles of different lengths or widths, it is held on the base plate so that it can be moved in the direction of the cutting line. It can be moved along the base plate in the cutting direction. In its use position, it is secured to the base plate in a fixed position by means of a clamping device. The clamping device can have clamping claws that can be clamped against the underside of the base plate edge using clamping screws. The clamping claws are designed such that, when the clamping screws are loosened, they clamp the functional element to the base plate in a linearly movable manner. The functional element can be made of plastic. However, it can also be made of metal. The functional element can be a carrier for reserve cutting tools. In particular, it can have one or more receiving recesses in which reserve cutting wheels are attached.
[0014] The invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying drawings. They show: Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention in a first functional position, in which a tile 30 lies between two corner stops; Fig. 2 an enlarged view according to section II - II in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 a side view of the embodiment; Fig. 4 a plan view, the two guide rails 2 not being shown; Fig. 5 the section V - V in Fig. 4 in an enlarged view; Fig. 6 the section along the line VI - VI in Fig. 5; Fig. 7 a representation according to Fig. 1, in a second functional position, in which two opposite edges of a tile lie between two angle stop flanks; Fig. 8 the section VIII - VIII in Fig. 7; Fig. 9 a top view corresponding to the functional position according to Fig. 7, whereby the guide rails 2 are not shown here either; Fig. 10 the enlarged section X - X in Fig. 9; Fig. 11 a further representation according to Fig. 1 in a third functional position in which a lateral edge of a tile rests against a longitudinal stop 18; Fig. 12 a plan view of the device in the functional position according to Fig. 11; Fig. 13 a representation according to Fig. 12, wherein the longitudinal stop 18 is brought into a 15° angular position; Fig. 14 in a perspective view a functional element 8; Fig. 15 the functional element 8 in plan view and Fig. 16 the functional element 8 in a second perspective view.
[0015] The embodiment is a tile cutter as described in an unpublished DE 20 2012 102 789.
[0016] The tile cutter has two spaced-apart rail supports 22, each of which is attached to the mutually facing ends of a slender base plate 1 having a breaker bar 21 in its center. The rail supports 22 hold the base plate 1 at a distance from the subsurface. The rail supports 22 thus form the feet for the tile cutting device. Above the base plate 1, two guide rails 2, each having a U-profile, extend parallel to the direction of extension of the breaker bar 21. The breaker bar 21 defines a cutting line such that the guide rails 2 extend in the cutting direction. The two U-shaped guide rails 2 each support guide rollers 26 of a tool carrier 4 that can be moved between the guide rails 2. The tool carrier 4 has a handle for moving the tool carrier 4 along the guide rails 2.The handle can also be pivoted about a handle pivot axis in order to lower a breaking ram 38.
[0017] A cutting wheel carrier 15 protrudes from the underside of the tool carrier 4. The cutting wheel carrier 15 is mounted on the tool carrier 4 so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. The pivot axis runs transversely to the cutting direction. Furthermore, a compression spring (not shown) is provided, which is tensioned when the cutting wheel carrier 15 is pivoted and which develops a force with which the cutting wheel is pressed against the upper side of a tile 30 to be cut, so that the cutting wheel 3 carves a notch into the upper side of the tile 30 when the tool carrier 4 is displaced along the guide rail 2. The cutting wheel carrier 15 forms a downwardly projecting arm, which tensions the aforementioned compression spring when the tool carrier 4 is displaced in the cutting direction. If the tool carrier 4 is moved opposite to the cutting direction, the cutting wheel carrier 15 can pivot in the opposite direction so that the cutting wheel 3 can roll over the top of the tile without any stress.
[0018] The Fig. 14 to 16 show the functional element 8. The functional element has a folding symmetrical shape with respect to the cutting line. The functional element 8 can be placed on the upwardly facing upper side of the base plate 1. It then lies between the guide rails 2 and the base plate 1. The functional element 8 has two clamping claws 12 that grip the edge 13 of the base plate 1 (see Fig. 6). The clamping claws 12 can be brought into a clamping position using clamping screws 11, in which the functional element 8 is immovably secured to the base plate 1. If the clamping screws 11 are loosened, the functional element 8 can be moved along the cutting line, i.e., in the direction of extension of the breaker bar 21. The functional element 8 rests on the breaker bar 21.
[0019] The functional element 8 has two mutually facing guide flanks 28, between which a channel extends, hereinafter referred to as a groove. A notch 39 runs in the center of the groove, which, when the functional element 8 is assembled, runs in the cutting line. In the exemplary embodiment, the distance between the two guide flanks 28 corresponds to the width of the cutting wheel carrier 15, so that the cutting wheel carrier 15 can be pushed through the groove between the two guide flanks 28 with minimal lateral play. The two guide flanks 28 thus form the two side walls of a groove that run parallel to each other.
[0020] In the cutting direction in front of the guide flanks 28, the trench has a funnel-shaped widening formed by finding flanks 29.
[0021] The functional element 8 has angle stop flanks 10 running at an angle of 45° to the cutting direction, i.e. to the notch 39, against which an edge 33 of a tile to be cut can be placed (cf. Fig. 9 and Fig. 10). The two imaginary extensions of the angle stop flanks 10 intersect in the cutting line. There is also a corner recess with two flanks of a corner stop 9 positioned at a 90° angle to each other. The imaginary extensions of the angle stop flanks 10 are overhung by projections 24 or lugs 25. The lugs 25 form the end sections of the guide flanks 28 located in the cutting direction. The guide flanks 28 thus extend beyond the corner stop 9 or the angle stop flanks 10 in the cutting direction.
[0022] In the cutting direction, in front of the guide flanks 28, the functional element 8 forms a semicircular free space. This semicircular free space is flanked on both sides by fastening wings, each fastening wing carrying a clamping screw 11. The fastening wings also contain recesses 37 in which reserve cutting wheels 36 are fastened. In the exemplary embodiment, the functional element 8 is a combination element. The functional element 8 not only forms a stop carrier that can be moved on the base plate 1. The functional element 8 also fulfills the function of a guide element that can be moved on the base plate 1 for the cutting wheel carrier 15. It is therefore a stop / guide carrier or stop / guide slider. The functional element 8 can be positioned on the base plate 1 in a position that depends on the size of the tile to be cut.
[0023] The device has a stop element 5 that is firmly connected to the base plate 1. The stop element 5 has a corner stop 7 in the form of a recess. The corner stops 7, 9 are located in the cutting line. The diagonally opposite corners 31, 32 of a tile 30 to be cut can rest against them, so that a diagonal cut through the corners 31, 32 can be made with the cutting wheel 3. The stop element 5 also has a stop edge that runs transversely to the cutting line, i.e., transversely to the breaking bar 21. Furthermore, the stop element 5 supports a rail 16 that projects laterally from the base plate 1 transversely to the cutting direction. Fig. Figures 1 to 9 show an angle stop 6 that can be moved along the rail 16. The angle stop 6 can be fixed to the rail 16 using a clamping screw 19. The angle stop 6 has a stop edge 23 that runs at a 45° angle to the cutting direction. The stop edge 23 thus runs parallel to the angle stop flank 10.
[0024] In one in the Fig. In the variant shown in Figures 11 to 13, a second stop support is provided, which forms a second rail 17. The two rails 16, 17 are each attached to the base plate 1 directly adjacent to the rail support 22 and run parallel to each other transversely to the cutting direction. A longitudinal stop 18 has offset portions 20 at each of its two ends, which are attached to the rails 16, 17 by means of clamping screws 19. The longitudinal stop 18 can be attached to the two rails 16, 17 with its stop edge 27 in a direction parallel to the cutting direction (see Fig. 12). The sliding connections between the ends 20 of the longitudinal stop 18 and the rails 16, 17 are designed so that the stop edge 27 can be brought to an angle of 15° to the cutting direction (see Fig. 13). The stop edge 27 can be offset in both positive and negative angular directions by angles of up to 15° to the cutting direction.
[0025] The device works as follows: The Fig. 1 to 5 show a first application in which a rectangular tile 30, which has opposite corners 31, 32, is to be provided with a diagonal cut through the two corners 31, 32. For this purpose, a first corner 31 of the tile 30 is placed against the corner stop 7 of the stop element 5. The corner 32 opposite this is brought into the cutting line 21. The functional element 8, which here performs the function of a stop slide, is then moved toward the corner 32 until the corner 32 rests against the corner stop 9. The tile 30 is now fixed to the base plate 1 both in the cutting direction and transversely thereto.
[0026] The tool carrier 4 is then moved from a position in the cutting direction rearward of the functional element 8 toward the corner 32. The cutting wheel carrier 15 initially slides through the clearance between the finding flanks 29 into the groove between the guide flanks 28. The cutting wheel 3 runs through the notch 39 until the cutting wheel 3 hits the corner 32.
[0027] The Fig. Figure 5 shows the various positions of the cutting wheel carrier 15 in dash-dotted lines, whereby the function of the locating flanks 29 for centering the cutting wheel carrier 15 is indicated by the fact that the cutting wheel carrier 15 is shown offset from the cutting line. The two broad sides of the cutting wheel carrier 15 facing away from each other are guided on the mutually facing guide flanks 28. There is minimal play between the guide flank 28 and the side wall of the cutting wheel carrier 15 facing them. When the cutting wheel 3 strikes the corner 31, the cutting wheel carrier 15 is pivoted slightly, tensioning a compression spring (not shown). Any transverse forces acting on the cutting wheel carrier 15 that may occur in this case are diverted to the guide flanks 28. The guide flanks 28 hold the cutting wheel 3 in the cutting line. Any transverse forces applied to the tile 30 are diverted into the flanks of the corner stop 9.Only when the cutting wheel 3 rests completely on the upper side of the tile 30 and has moved there a small distance, cutting a notch into the surface of the tile 30, does the cutting wheel carrier 15 leave the section of the guide flanks 28 running between the two noses 25. The . Fig. 5 it can be seen that the lugs 25 protrude above the top of the tile 30.
[0028] After the diagonal cut has been made, the tile 30 is broken in a known manner, whereby a breaking punch 38 is displaced downwards by pivoting the handle attached to the tool carrier 4.
[0029] The Fig. 7 to 10 show a second mode of operation of the tile cutter according to the invention for making a bevel cut. Here, the bevel cut should not run through the two corners 31, 32. Rather, the cutting wheel 3 should run along an edge 33 of the tile 30 that runs obliquely to the cutting direction. For this purpose, the edge 33' opposite this edge 33 is placed against the stop edge 23 of the angle stop 6. A corner 31 can rest on the rail 16. The edge 33 opposite the edge 33' rests against the angle stop flank 10. For this purpose, the functional element 8 is moved into a corresponding distance position from the stop element 5 and is secured to the base plate 1 by means of the clamping device 11, 12, 13. Here, too, the functional element 8 initially performs the function of a stop slide. Here, too, the functional element 8 performs the function of a guide for the cutting wheel carrier 15, which can be moved on the base plate 1, in that the cutting wheel carrier 15 is displaced between the guide flanks 28 in the manner described above until the cutting wheel 3 runs over the inclined edge 33 and has been displaced a short distance over the upper side of the tile 30. Only then does the cutting wheel carrier 15 leave the guide flanks 28. From the . Fig. 10 it can be seen that the two noses 25 protrude at least partially above the upper side of the tile 30 to be cut.
[0030] The Fig. Figures 11 to 13 show a further mode of operation of the tile cutter according to the invention. In this mode of operation, not only a first rail 16 but also a second rail 17 is attached to the base plate 1. The two rails 16, 17 each hold one end 20 of a longitudinal stop 18. Fig. Figure 12 shows how the longitudinal stop 18 with its stop edge 27 can be aligned parallel to the cutting line 21. A peripheral edge 35 of the tile 30 now rests against the stop edge 27. A peripheral edge 33 of the tile 30 running perpendicular to it rests against the fixed stop 5. In this operating mode, the use of the functional element 8 is optional.
[0031] The Fig. Figure 13 shows that the stop edge 27 can also be positioned at an acute angle to the cutting line 21. Here, too, one side 35 of the tile 30 rests against the stop edge 27. The edge 33, which runs diagonally to the cutting line, rests in point contact with the fixed stop 5. The use of the functional element 8 is also optional with this mode of operation. However, given the transverse forces resulting from the inclined position of the tile 30, the use of the functional element 8 is preferred in order to divert the transverse forces generated during the cut into the base plate 1.
