Description

[0001] The invention relates to a side support on an operating or X-ray table with a height- and length-adjustable fastening device on the table, with a fastening column and a side support arm with a side support surface for a person supported on the table, wherein the side support arm is made of a material transparent to X-rays and the side support arm is equipped with a connecting piece at its end opposite the side support surface, via which it is arranged so as to be pivotable and lockable in an angular, in particular horizontal, plane.

[0002] An operating table, in particular for the care of accident victims, is known, EP 0 255 938 B1, which has a lateral support surface for a person, which is arranged on an operating table in a length-adjustable manner via two fastening devices.

[0003] The disadvantage of such a known side support surface is that it only protects a person to the side of an operating or X-ray table, for example against slipping sideways, but in no way supports the person in a specific position, just as the known side support surface gets in the way of X-raying a patient and may even have to be removed for this purpose.

[0004] Furthermore, an artifact elimination for a medical pelvic registration with a tracked, system-known pelvic support is known, EP 1 935 342 A1, which has a holding device with a mechanism with an adjustable holding arm and a rod-like support, which, however, is firmly connected to the holding arm and has no variation options for its arrangement.

[0005] Also known is a patient support unit for a device for supporting a patient to be x-rayed during an operation, DE 10 2013 111 519 A1, which, however, only has a plurality of height-adjustable vertical support surfaces for body parts of a patient and no side supports.

[0006] A further known hip support device, US 2002 / 0 157 186 A1, has lateral holding devices on an operating table in the hip area of a patient, which fix a patient in a position of an operating table with his foot end raised against slipping towards the head end, wherein each side of the hip support device has its specific design.

[0007] US 7 544 007 B2, on the other hand, relates to a swivel adapter and a base handling unit for a headrest of a patient's head during a surgical procedure, which is attached to the head end of a table, but does not itself disclose a headrest or side support.

[0008] The object of the invention is to provide a significantly improved lateral support on an operating or X-ray table, which in particular is multiply adjustable and does not have to be removed from the table when a patient is to be X-rayed.

[0009] The solution to this problem arises in conjunction with the preamble features according to the invention from the features of the characterizing part of the main claim, in particular in that, in order to ensure the usability of the lateral support optimally on the right and left on both sides of an operating or X-ray table or its arrangement from the center of an operating or X-ray table to the front or from the center to the rear, the front end of the lateral support arm of the second embodiment is advantageously designed to be retractable therefrom and is mounted thereon so as to be rotatable by 180° in its horizontal longitudinal axis, wherein a coupling piece protrudes from the front side of the lateral support lever, which coupling piece has a locking recess which engages laterally in a temporarily unlockable release pin, so that the front end of the support arm can be pulled out of the connecting piece,The movement is limited by a further lateral extension lock, which permanently engages in a movement recess in the coupling piece, so that the side support arm cannot be accidentally pulled completely out of the connecting piece.

[0010] Further advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of the invention result from and in combination with the following subclaims.

[0011] According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, not only the side support arm is made of a material that is permeable to X-rays, but also the side support surface itself, so that, if necessary, X-rays can also be taken through this side support surface without a patient having to be repositioned.

[0012] According to a further advantageous variant of the subject matter of the invention, not only the lateral support arm and the lateral support surface are made of an X-ray-permeable material, but also the mutual connecting means, preferably a ball socket arranged on the lateral support surface and a ball stud arranged on the lateral support arm, which is inserted into the ball socket, so that the lateral support surface is arranged on the lateral support arm with optimal angular movement and, if necessary, also designed to be lockable. As a result, the entire lateral support is made of X-ray-permeable material and the X-ray examination of patients, for example during ongoing operations, is significantly simplified overall. The ball socket and ball stud can, of course, also be arranged interchangeably on the lateral support arm and the lateral support surface.

[0013] Preferably, the lateral support arm is further designed as a curved or partially curved pivot arm, allowing it to be pivoted across the surface of an operating table and allowing the lateral support surface to be brought closer to a person lying on it, for example, to support them in a stable lateral position. This curved design significantly improves the torsional stability of the lateral support arm. In conjunction with the ball joint, it enables individual positioning of the lateral support surface, and the combination of the lateral support arm and the ball joint ensures ideal pressure distribution on the patient.

[0014] In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the side support surface itself can be polygonal, round or oval or adapted to a specific surgical technique, so that the inventive side support as a whole can be excellently used by orthopedists, traumatologists and spinal surgeons on operating or X-ray tables for surgical techniques, for example in the lateral position of a patient, such as in spinal interventions, pelvic fractures or in hip prosthetics.

[0015] The mounting column can be quickly and easily adjusted in height and length using a clamp on the rail of an operating room or X-ray table, so that the side support offers a variety of easily achievable adjustment options.

[0016] The support arm of an advantageous embodiment of the invention has a connecting piece with a spur gear aligned with the fastening column, just as the upper end of the fastening column is equipped with a column adapter with a spur gear, so that a pivoting movement about the vertical axis of the fastening column can be carried out easily and in a form-fitting manner by tightening a rotary knob on the front side of the fastening column.

[0017] In order to increase the possible adjustment range of the inventive side support, the fastening column can extend into a sleeve of a horizontal extension piece and be held in a height-adjustable manner therein, wherein the sleeve is in turn arranged at one end of the horizontal extension piece, which in turn is pushed with its other end through a receptacle of a fastening clamp and is mounted there, which in turn has a receptacle for an operating table rail and clamping screws for fastening, so that even operating tables or X-ray tables with only short lateral fastening rails can be equipped with the inventive side support.

[0018] An exemplary embodiment is described in more detail below using a drawing. It shows: Fig. 1 an exploded view of a side support in three-dimensional representation, and Fig. 2 an assembly drawing of the side support according to Fig. 1.

[0019] The side support 16 essentially consists of a fastening column 18 to be fastened to an operating or X-ray table, for example by means of a fastening clamp 29 on its standard rails, with a fastening device 17 for an arcuate or curved side support arm 19, which is designed as a quarter-circle-shaped swivel arm or in an embodiment as shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, as a swivel arm bent by approximately 90°, each of the swivel arms being provided at its front end with a ball pin 22 which is mounted in a ball socket 21 which in turn is connected to the side support surface 20, for example screwed thereto, the ball joint being either freely movable or via an additional ball clamping ring, as shown in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, is designed to be adjustable in its mobility from a completely free pivotability to a complete locking, wherein a possible pivotability advantageously leads to an independent pressure-relieving adaptation of the lateral support surface 20 to a body.

[0020] The side support arm 19, which is designed as a pivoting arm, the ball pin 22 and the ball socket 21, as well as the side support surface 20, are made of a material that is transparent to X-rays, so that a patient to be X-rayed does not have to be repositioned for fluoroscopy and the side support does not have to be removed.

[0021] The side support 16 of the embodiment as shown in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, also has a lateral support arm 19 with a lateral support surface 20 mounted in a ball socket 21 via a ball joint consisting of a ball stud 22, these components being made of X-ray transparent materials. At the opposite end of the lateral support arm 19, a connecting piece 23 is arranged, which has a spur gear directed in the direction of the fastening column 18, just as the fastening column 18 has an upwardly directed spur gear on a column adapter 24, so that the lateral support arm 19 can be fixed in any desired angular position about the front-side column adapter 24 via a rotary knob 28, which extends through the connecting piece 23 and is equipped with an external thread onto which the rotary knob 28 is screwed.

[0022] The front end of the lateral support arm 19 is designed to be retractable from the connecting piece 23 and is mounted therein so as to be rotatable by 180° about its horizontal longitudinal axis, for which purpose a coupling piece 26 is arranged protrudingly in the lateral support arm 19, which coupling piece 26 has a locking recess 34 into which a temporarily partially retractable unlocking pin 25 of the connecting piece 23 engages, wherein a further pull-out lock 27 permanently engages laterally in a movement recess 35 in the coupling piece 26, which has the length of the maximum axial extension, so that an unintentional withdrawal of the lateral support arm 19 from the connecting piece 23 is excluded.

[0023] The fastening column 18 can be arranged at its lower end directly in a fastening clamp 29 on an operating table rail or, as in Fig. 1 and Fig.2, extend into a sleeve 32 of a horizontal extension piece 36 and are mounted therein in a height-adjustable manner by means of a rotary knob 33, wherein the sleeve 32 is in turn arranged on a horizontal extension piece 36 which is guided and mounted in a receptacle of a fastening clamp 29, which in turn has a receptacle for an operating table rail and clamping screws 31 for its attachment thereto, whereby a possible pushing through of the horizontal extension piece 36 leads to a length adjustability of the side support 16, which can be locked in the fastening clamp 29 via a rotary knob 30.
