Description

[0001] The invention relates to an insert ring for a road surface according to claim 1.

[0002] Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for forming a road surface around a shaft element according to the preamble of claim 7.

[0003] During road construction, channels or pipes are often installed underground before the substructure and superstructure are laid, for example, for water supply, drainage, or power and data lines. Such channels and pipes have vertically aligned shafts at specific intervals, which terminate with a shaft element in the road surface to be formed.

[0004] When building a road, such canals and pipes are laid in an initial phase. The subsoil can then be consolidated, and a substructure and superstructure, including the base course and the surface, also known as the road surface or road surface, can be laid to form the road. In particular, the material for the superstructure and, in some cases, also for the substructure of the road, must be compacted.

[0005] Soil compactors, such as rollers or vibrating plates, are typically used to compact the applied materials. These soil compactors can achieve very good compaction on open surfaces.

[0006] However, with previously constructed protruding vertical shafts, it may happen that the applied materials are not compacted to the same extent or cannot be compacted to the same extent in the peripheral area around the protruding shafts, for example, because a soil compactor was not positioned precisely against a shaft element. In the case of uneven compaction of the materials applied for the road construction, cracks and other defects in the road surface around a shaft element may appear over time. Such defects around a shaft element must be subsequently repaired.

[0007] In such renovations, the damaged ceiling, together with the underlying base layer, is usually at least partially removed in an area around a shaft element and replaced with new material.

[0008] This type of rehabilitation is particularly complex when renovating road surfaces with asphalt, as only relatively small quantities are required to renovate a single area, while high-quality road asphalt can only be produced in relatively large quantities using existing machinery. This leads to unnecessarily high waste and correspondingly high costs for renovating a road surface.

[0009] A road surface rehabilitation method common in the prior art is disclosed in DE10041247A1, which forms the preamble of independent claim 1.

[0010] The invention is based on the object of specifying an insert ring for a road surface and a method for rehabilitating a road surface, with which a road surface can be rehabilitated in a particularly reliable manner, preferably around a shaft element.

[0011] The object is achieved, on the one hand, by an insert ring having the features of claim 1 and, on the other hand, by a method having the features of claim 7. Preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the respective dependent claims.

[0012] In the insert ring for a road surface according to the invention, it is provided that the insert ring has, at least on its upper side, a covering material which corresponds to a material of the road surface and has an inner diameter which essentially corresponds to an outer diameter of the shaft element to which a road surface is to be adjacent.

[0013] A basic idea of the invention is to rehabilitate a road surface, preferably around a manhole element, not by applying appropriate materials, in particular road asphalt, but rather by using a prefabricated insert ring. As a rule, the road surface around a manhole element, including the damaged area, is removed in a defined manner using a predefined tool. A prefabricated insert ring is inserted into the defined annular hole created in this way. If necessary, the insert ring can then be adapted to the surrounding road surface by applying heat and, if necessary, rolling over it. The insert ring can be efficiently prefabricated as a standard ring in one or in various predefined sizes and then transported to a construction site in quantities corresponding to the number of manholes to be rehabilitated.

[0014] In this way, the time-consuming and costly creation of smaller quantities of road asphalt can be avoided.

[0015] In principle, the insert element according to the invention can be manufactured in any shape and size. It is particularly preferred that it be designed as an insert ring with a ring width between 10 cm and 100 cm. An inner contour of the ring is adapted to an outer contour of the shaft element. Shaft elements are usually standardized parts with a predetermined outer diameter.

[0016] With regard to the transportability of the insert ring, according to a further development of the invention, it is preferred that a support ring, to which the paving material is applied, is arranged on an underside. The support ring can be made of a rigid material, in particular concrete, metal, in particular steel, a plastic, or another suitable material. An annular wall made of a rigid or flexible material can be arranged on the outside of the insert ring. The peripheral wall can prevent direct contact between the existing road surface and the new paving material of the insert ring. This can prevent undesirable diffusion processes between the different paving materials. The insert ring can be inserted into the road surface with or without a support ring.

[0017] Depending on the type of damaged area in the road surface to be repaired, the insert ring can be made of any thickness. A particularly advantageous thickness is between 10 cm and 15 cm. This thickness is usually sufficient to ensure at least the repair of the road surface. If there are deeper damaged areas, for example in the substructure, these can also be easily repaired using conventional methods, with only the insert ring and the asphalt surface being inserted last. Alternatively, the insert ring can also be made thicker, allowing it to extend into the substructure.

[0018] According to one embodiment of the invention, it is particularly preferred that the paving material comprises fine asphalt applied to an asphalt layer. The asphalt layer itself can be applied to a base course or form one itself. The asphalt layer can be constructed from a material with a coarser grain than the upper layer of fine asphalt. This allows a particularly fine surface to be achieved at the rehabilitated site.

[0019] In principle, the insert element according to the invention can have any desired shape and contour. It is particularly advantageous for it to be circular or angular. In particular, an inner contour can be circular or angular, corresponding to the outer contour of the shaft element.

[0020] The method according to the invention for forming a road surface around a shaft element is characterized in that one of the previously described insert rings is arranged on the shaft element, wherein the insert ring surrounds and adjoins the shaft element.

[0021] With the method according to the invention, the advantages described above can be achieved when using the insert ring according to the invention.

[0022] A particularly preferred method variant involves removing a ring of existing road surface around the shaft element to rehabilitate it, creating a space for inserting the insert ring. The space can be the same size as the insert ring, allowing it to fit snugly into the existing pavement.

[0023] According to a further development of the invention, it is particularly expedient to construct or renew a road substructure prior to installing the insert ring. The road substructure, which consists in particular of gravel and / or sand, can be rehabilitated in a conventional manner. The road substructure is constructed to the desired height, onto which the insert ring can then be inserted at its specified height. The insert ring is inserted such that its upper surface is flush with the surrounding road surface.

[0024] Depending on the type of material used for the insert ring, the renovation work may already be completed with its installation, for example if a concrete insert ring is used. Particularly when using an insert ring with an upper section made of asphalt material, it is advantageous according to a further development of the invention that after the insert ring has been installed, the surface material of the insert ring is rolled over, compacted, ground and / or milled, whereby a level between the upper surfaces of the road surface and the insert ring is adjusted. The insert ring can be designed with an excess height. A machining joint can be closed in the process. If necessary, the joint can also be filled with a sealant, such as liquid asphalt. This allows a particularly good and flush connection to the surrounding existing road surface to be achieved.Preferably, the insert ring will be installed in a cold and / or fully compressed state.

[0025] For the purposes of the invention, the terms "road" and "road surface" are to be understood broadly and not limited to carriageways. In particular, they also include sidewalks, squares, parking lots, and other areas covered with a surface material typical of roads.

[0026] The insert element according to the invention can be designed not only in a ring shape, but also in a flat shape, in particular in the shape of a circular disk.

[0027] The invention is further described below with reference to preferred embodiments, which are schematically illustrated in the figures. In the figures: Fig. 1 a plan view of a rehabilitated road surface; and Fig. 2 a cross-sectional view through an insert ring according to the invention.

[0028] According to Fig. 1, a shaft element 30 with a shaft enclosure 32 is provided in a road surface 5, into which a manhole cover 34 is inserted. For the inventive rehabilitation of the road surface 5 in an annular area around the shaft element 30, the road surface 5 is first removed to a desired depth in a defined annular circumferential area around the shaft element 30.

[0029] A prefabricated insert ring 10 is then inserted into the created space in the road surface 5. The insert ring 10 is placed on a remaining or previously rehabilitated substructure. When installed, the insert ring 10 extends from the outside of the circular shaft element 30 to the adjacent road surface 5.

[0030] According to Fig.Figure 2 shows an embodiment of an insert ring 10 according to the invention. The plate-like insert ring 10 has a central opening 11, the inner diameter of which is adapted to an outer diameter of the shaft element 30. For the purposes of transport and stabilization, a support ring 20 is arranged on an underside of the insert ring 10, onto which a covering material 12 is applied. In the illustrated embodiment, the covering material 12 comprises a coarse-grained asphalt layer 16, onto which a fine-grained fine asphalt 14 is applied.

[0031] Overall, the thickness or height of the insert ring 10 is adjusted to the removal depth in the road surface 5 so that the inserted insert ring 10 ends with its upper side at the level of the road surface 5.

[0032] The insert ring 10 may have an outer peripheral wall 18, which prevents direct contact between the surface material 12 of the insert ring 10 and the adjacent material of the road surface 5. This prevents undesirable diffusion processes between the different surface materials and thus undesirable settlement in the rehabilitated area.
