AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The thermal deposition process for forming the emission layer in large-scale electroluminescence (EL) display devices results in thickness nonuniformity across pixels, affecting display quality and device longevity.

Method used

Incorporating grooves with varying widths between pixel rows and utilizing a solution process with controlled solvent evaporation rates to uniformize natural drying times, ensuring consistent emission layer thickness.

Benefits of technology

Prevents and minimizes thickness non-uniformity in the emission layer, enhancing display quality and durability of the EL display device.

Abstract

Electroluminescent display device comprising the following: a substrate (110); a first row of pixels on the substrate (110) containing a first plurality of pixels (P11-P14) arranged along a first direction (X); a second row of pixels on the substrate (110) containing a second plurality of pixels (P21-P24) arranged along the first direction (X), wherein the second row of pixels is spaced from the first row of pixels in a second direction (Y); a first groove (182) between the first and second pixel rows; and a light-emitting diode (D) in each pixel (P) of the first and second pixel rows, wherein the first groove (182) contains a first section (W1) at one end of the first pixel row, a second section (W2) at the other end of the first pixel row and a third section (W3) between the first and second sections (W2), wherein the first section (W1) corresponds to one end of the first groove (182) and the second section (W2) corresponds to the other end of the first groove (182), and where the third section (W3) is smaller than the first section (W1) and larger than the second section (W2).
