Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONField of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a wire collecting device and a wire EDM machine. State of the art
[0002] A conventional wire EDM machine includes a wire electrode (wire), an upper feed member and a lower feed member contacting the wire electrode, a machining power supply, a table on which a machining target is to be installed, a driver having an X-axis drive unit and a Y-axis drive unit for moving the table forward and backward in an X-axis direction and a Y-axis direction, respectively, and an upper die and a lower die through which the wire electrode passes.
[0003] The upper and lower nozzles both have guide holes. The wire electrode passes through the guide holes, guided by the guide holes, and is positioned above and below the machining target. When the wire electrode tilts, the upper and lower nozzles act as an upper and lower holder for the wire electrode, respectively.
[0004] The wire electric discharge machine includes a wire spool from which the wire electrode is unwound and fed, transport rollers in a pair provided in such a manner that the wire electrode unwound from the wire spool is inserted therebetween and for changing a direction of unwinding of the wire electrode toward a direction toward the table and the machining target, a lower roller for changing a direction of unwinding of the wire electrode fed downward from the table and the machining target, and a collecting roller for collecting the wire electrode whose direction has been changed by the lower roller.
[0005] The upper feed element, the lower feed element, and the machining target are all connected to the machining power supply, and a voltage is applied between the upper feed element, the lower feed element, and the machining target. The machining target can be machined with the wire EDM machine by generating an electrical discharge between the machining target mounted on the table and the wire electrode.
[0006] An operator inputs a machining condition, a machining program, and a control parameter on a computerized numerical control (CNC) device, and the drive is controlled based on these inputs.
[0007] After being fed to the machining target for electric discharge machining, the wire electrode passes through the lower die and then passes through the lower roller and the collecting roller sequentially to be fed to a collecting box and collected (see, for example, Patent Document 1). Patent Document 1: JP H04-57626 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The used wire electrode collected in the collection box of the wire EDM machine may be energized by the machining power supply. Therefore, to prevent the occurrence of electric shock to the operator, the wire electrode is collected after the power supply of the wire EDM machine is turned off. The used wire electrode is constantly ejected during wire EDM, making it impossible to remove the wire collection box and collect and discard the used wire electrode. Therefore, the labor of collecting the used wire electrode has the disadvantage of reducing the machining feasibility and, in turn, reducing the production rate.
[0009] The present invention intends to provide a wire collecting device of a wire electric discharge machine capable of collecting a used wire electrode even while a power supply for the wire electric discharge machine is not turned off and even during electric discharge machining.
[0010] The present inventor has found means of collecting a used wire electrode even while a power supply for a wire electric discharge machine is not turned off and even during electric discharge machining, thereby executing the present invention.
[0011] (1) The present invention intends a wire collecting device (for example, the wire collecting device B described later) of a wire electric discharge machine (for example, the wire electric discharge machine A described later) for collecting a used wire electrode (for example, the wire electrode 3 described later) which has been used for electric discharge machining and has been sequentially fed, comprising: a first collecting box (for example, the first collecting box 15 described later) having a wire insert (for example, the wire insert 15a described later) provided at an upper portion for inserting the wire electrode; a second collecting box (for example, the second collecting box 16 described later) having a wire insert (for example, the wire insert 16a described later) provided at an upper portion for inserting the wire electrode, housed in the first collecting box, and capable ofto be taken outside through an access passage (for example, the access passage 15b described later) formed in the first collecting box; and a partition member (for example, the partition plate 19b described later) designed to be openable and closable for dividing the interior of the first collecting box into a lower space (for example, the lower space 18 described later) for accommodating the second collecting box and an upper space (for example, the upper space 17 described later) that communicates with the wire tray of the first collecting box to perform communication between the lower space and the upper space. The wire collecting device is configured in such a manner that, while the partition member is open, the wire electrode is guided through the first collecting box and the wire tray of the second collecting box into the second collecting box and is collected in the second collecting box.and while the dividing component is closed, the wire electrode is passed through the wire insert of the first collecting box and accumulated and collected in the dividing component.,
[0012] (2) According to the present invention, in the above (1), the wire collecting device may include: a collecting box detection unit (for example, the collecting box detection sensor 22 described later) for detecting the second collecting box that has been accommodated in the first collecting box; a first wire detection unit (for example, the first wire detection sensor 23 described later) for detecting an upper limit volume of the wire electrode stacked on the partition member; a second wire detection unit (for example, the second wire detection sensor 24 described later) for determining whether the wire electrode collected and stacked in the second collecting box has reached a preset ejection setting volume for ejecting to the outside;and an anti-overflow third wire detection unit (for example, the third wire detection sensor 25 described later) for detecting an upper limit volume of the wire electrode collected and stacked in the second collection box;
[0013] (3) According to the present invention, in the above (2), if the collection box detection unit detects the second collection box and none of the first wire detection unit, the second wire detection unit and the third wire detection unit makes a detection when a wire cutting signal is sent, the partition member may be opened, and if both the collection box detection unit and the second wire detection unit make detections when the wire cutting signal is sent, the partition member may be closed.
[0014] (4) According to the present invention in the above (2) or (3), the wire collecting device may be configured to send a warning if the second wire detecting unit or the third wire detecting unit detects the wire electrode.
[0015] According to the present invention, even during machining with the wire electric discharge machine, in other words, even when machining work is continued without turning off a power supply for the wire electric discharge machine, the second collecting box can be removed and the used wire electrode can be collected and discarded. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] A wire collecting device of a wire electric discharge machine according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 1 to 10 described.
[0017] The present invention relates to a wire electric discharge machine that performs machining on a machining target by applying a voltage between the poles of a wire electrode (applying a voltage to a gap therebetween) and the machining target (a workpiece or machining subject) and generating an electric discharge. Specifically, the present invention relates to a wire collecting device for collecting a used wire electrode that has been sequentially fed and used for machining on the machining target.
[0018] As in Fig. 1, a wire electric discharge machine A of the embodiment includes a machine body 1, a controller 2 such as a computerized numerical control (CNC), and a wire collecting device B.
[0019] The machine body 1 includes a wire electrode 3, an upper feed member and a lower feed member (not shown) which contact the wire electrode 3, a machining power supply (not shown), a table on which a machining target is to be installed, a driver (not shown) having an X-axis drive unit and a γ-axis drive unit for moving the table forward and backward in an X-axis direction and a γ-axis direction, respectively, and an upper nozzle 5 or a lower nozzle 6 which the wire electrode 3 passes.
[0020] The machine body 1 further includes a wire spool 7 from which the wire electrode 3 is unwound and fed, transport rollers 8 and 9 provided in a pair in such a manner that the wire electrode 3 unwound from the wire spool 7 is inserted therebetween and a direction of unwinding of the wire electrode 3 to a direction toward the table 4 and the machining target, a lower roller 10 for changing a direction of feeding the wire electrode 3 fed downward from the table 4 and the machining target, and a collecting roller 11 and a collecting roller 12 for feeding the wire electrode 3, which has its direction changed by the lower roller 10, to the wire collecting device B for collecting the wire electrode 3.
[0021] In the wire EDM machine A, the upper feed element, the lower feed element, and the machining target are all connected to a machining power supply, and a voltage is applied between the upper feed element, the lower feed element, and the machining target. The machining target can be subjected to electrical discharge machining by generating an electrical discharge between the machining target installed on the table 4 and the wire electrode 3.
[0022] After being supplied for electrical discharge machining at the machining target, the wire electrode 3 passes the lower mouthpiece 6 and then passes the lower roller 10 and the collecting rollers 11 and 12 to be collected by the wire collecting device B.
[0023] The drive of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A of the embodiment is controlled based on a machining condition, a machining program, and a control parameter input to the controller (CNC) 2 by an operator.
[0024] As in Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, the wire collecting device B of the wire electric discharge machine A of the embodiment includes a first collecting box (outer collecting box) 15, a second collecting box 15 (inner collecting box) 16 disposed inside the first collecting box 15, an opening / closing mechanism 19 for dividing the interior of the first collecting box 15 into the upper space 17 and the lower space 18, and a wire cutting mechanism 30.
[0025] The first collection box 15 is formed into a rectangular box shape and provided with a wire insert 15a formed from an opening on the upper surface of the first collection box 15. The first collection box 15 further includes an access passage 15b for the second collection box 16 formed at an opening extending from a lower end to a predetermined height position on a side surface of the first collection box 15.
[0026] As in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, the opening / closing mechanism 19 includes a rotary shaft 19a provided in the first collection box 15 and mounted in a horizontal position on the inner surface of the first collection box 15, and a partition plate (partition member) 19b rotatably supported by the rotary shaft 19a. When the partition plate 19b is placed horizontally, the partition plate 19b divides the interior of the first collection box 15 into the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 (closes the lower space 18). When the partition plate 19b rotates to move downward, the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 communicate with each other (the lower space 18 is opened). The opening / closing mechanism 19 further includes a driver (not shown) for rotating the partition plate 19b.
[0027] The opening / closing mechanism 19 includes a partition plate holding mechanism 20 for placing the partition plate 19b horizontally to divide into the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 and for holding the partition plate 19b in this closed position.
[0028] The partition plate holding mechanism 20 includes: a pawl part (stopper part) 20a provided, for example, at a tip portion of the partition plate 19b, in such a manner as to be able to advance and retreat outward and inward from the tip of the partition plate 19b (in such a manner as to be able to appear at and disappear from the tip); a pawl receiving part (stopper holder) 20b provided integrally with the first collection box 15 and protruding from a predetermined position on the inner surface of the first collection box 15, and for holding the partition plate 19b at an advanced position by engaging with the pawl part 20a; and an actuator (not shown), such as a piston cylinder, for causing the pawl part 20a to advance and retreat.
[0029] As the opening / closing mechanism 19, the driver is driven to place the partition plate 19b horizontally. Further, the actuator is driven to cause the pawl portion 20a to protrude laterally outward from the tip of the partition plate 19b to engage with the pawl portion 20a, with the pawl receiving portion 20b facing the pawl portion 20a and protruding from the inner surface of the first collection box 15. Then, the partition plate 19b is held closed. In this way, the interior of the first collection box 15 can be divided into the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 by the partition plate 19b.
[0030] When the actuator is driven to retract the pawl portion 20a from the top of the partition plate 19b, the pawl portion 20a and the pawl receiving portion 20b are released from the engaged state, and the partition plate 19b rotates downward to open. This establishes communication between the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 in the first collection box 15.
[0031] The second collection box 16 is formed into a rectangular box smaller than the first collection box 15, and includes, for example, a wire insert 16a formed at an opening on the upper surface of the second collection box 16. The second collection box 16 is housed in the first collection box 15 through the access passage 15b of the first collection box 15 and is arranged in a region to become the lower space 18 when the partition plate 19b is closed, that is, in a spatial region below the rotation axis 19a of the opening / closing mechanism 19.
[0032] The second collection box 16 includes a moving unit, which is prepared by providing wheels 16b at the lower end of the second collection box 16 or by locating the second collection box 16 on a rail, for example. The second collection box 16 is provided in such a way that it is able to exit the first collection box 15 and enter the first collection box 15 through the access passage 15b of the first collection box 15.
[0033] The wire cutting mechanism 30 is used to cut the wire electrode 3 fed into the first collection box 15 through the wire insert 15a, separate the used wire electrode 3, and collect the separated wire electrode 3 in the collection box 15 or 16. For example, the wire cutting mechanism 30 includes a cutting tool having a cutting blade for cutting the wire electrode 3. The cutting tool is formed by performing an electrical insulation process on the cutting blade, which, for example, is in contact with the wire electrode 3. In this embodiment, the wire cutting mechanism 30 is provided at a predetermined high position close to the wire insert 15a in the first collection box 15. The position of installing the wire cutting mechanism 30 is not particularly limited.
[0034] Next, referring to Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, in the wire collecting device B of the wire electric discharge machine A of the embodiment, a collecting box detecting sensor (collecting box detecting unit) 22 for detecting the second collecting box 16 accommodated in the first collecting box 15 is provided.
[0035] A first wire detection sensor (first wire detection unit) 23 is provided for detecting an upper limit volume (upper limit height position) of the wire electrode 3 inserted through the wire insert 15a of the first collection box 15 and stacked on the partition plate 19b with the partition plate 19b closed.
[0036] A second wire detection sensor (second wire detection unit) 24 is provided to determine whether the wire electrode 3 collected and stacked in the second cooling plate 16 has reached a volume set in advance for ejection to the outside. An anti-overflow third wire detection sensor (third wire detection unit) 25 is provided to detect an upper limit volume (upper limit height position) of the wire electrode 3 collected and stacked in the second collection box 16.
[0037] The first wire detection sensor 23, the second wire detection sensor 24 and the third wire detection sensor 25 are preferably contact sensors for detecting the wire electrode 3 by being touched by the wire electrode 3.
[0038] As in Fig. 4, in the wire collecting device B of the wire electric discharge machine A of the embodiment in the above configuration, with the partition plate 19b opened, the used wire electrode 3 supplied from the wire electric discharge machine A enters the second collecting box 16 through the wire inlets 15a and 16a and is collected in the second collecting box 16.
[0039] As in Fig. 5 and Fig. As shown in Figure 6, when the wire electrode 3 in the second collection box 16 reaches a constant volume (discharge setting volume), the used wire electrode 3 is cut by the wire cutting mechanism 30, and the partition plate 19b is closed. Further, the partition plate 19b is held in the closed position by the partition plate holding mechanism 20. Thus, the used wire electrode 3 supplied from the wire EDM machine A is accumulated on the partition plate 19b.
[0040] While the used wire electrode 3 is accumulated on the partition plate 19b, the second collection box 16 is taken out from the first collection box 15 through the access passage 15b and the accumulated used wire electrode 3 is discarded.
[0041] The second collection box 16, which is emptied as a result of the disposal of the wire electrode 3, is again placed in the lower space 18 of the first collection box 15. Further, the partition plate 19b is rotated to discharge the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b into the second collection box 16, and the used wire electrode 3 supplied from the wire-cutting machine A is again placed and collected in the second collection box 16.
[0042] The collection box detection sensor 22 is provided for detecting the second collection box 16 that has been housed in the first collection box 15. Thus, when the emptied second collection box 16 is returned to the lower space 18 of the first collection box 15, the drive of the driver for the opening / closing mechanism 19 can be controlled to automatically open the partition plate 19b based on a detection result by the collection box detection sensor 22 when it detects the return of the second collection box 16.
[0043] As in Fig. 7, in the wire collecting device B of the wire EDM machine A of the embodiment, the collecting box detection sensor 22 detects that the second collecting box 16 is removed from the first collecting box 15 (step 1) and notifies the controller 2 of the wire EDM machine A of the presence of the second collecting box 16 in the first collecting box 15 (step 2).
[0044] As described above, in the wire collecting device B of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A of the embodiment, even if the second collecting box 16 is removed, the used wire electrode 3 can still be accumulated on the partition plate 19b and can be continuously collected in the first collecting box 15. As a result, even with the presence of the second collecting box 16 in the first collecting box 15, the need to exercise control to stop the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A is eliminated.
[0045] On the other hand, when the second collection box 16 is housed in the first collection box 15, the collection box detection sensor 22 detects the presence of the second collection box 16 (step 1). Then, the detection conditions of the second wire detection sensor 24 and the third wire detection sensor 25 are checked to determine whether the wire electrode 3 collected and stacked in the second collection box 16 has reached a set ejection volume or a limit volume (step 3).
[0046] If the second wire detection sensor 24 or the third wire detection sensor 25 detects the wire electrode 3, the opening / closing mechanism 19 is driven to close the partition plate 19b (step 4). A signal indicating this closing of the partition plate 19b is sent to the controller 2 of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A to display a message on the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A (step 5).
[0047] Based on this message, etc., an operator removes the second collection box 16 from the first collection box 15 and discards the used wire electrode 3 (step 6). After the used wire electrode 3 is discarded, the emptied second collection box 16 is returned to the first collection box 15 (step 7).
[0048] The collection box detection sensor 22 determines whether the second collection box 16 has been returned to the first collection box 15 (step 8). If the second collection box 16 has been returned, the partition plate 19b is opened, and the wire electrode 3 accumulated in the partition plate 19b is inserted into the second collection box 16 (step 9).
[0049] Then, states of detections by the second wire detection sensor 24 and the third wire detection sensor 25 are checked again to determine whether the wire electrode 3 collected and stacked in the second collection box 16 has reached an ejection setting volume or a limit volume (step 3).
[0050] On the other hand, if the second wire detection sensor 24 or the third wire detection sensor 25 detects the wire electrode 3 and the opening / closing mechanism 19 is driven to close the partition plate 19b (step 4), it is determined whether the first wire detection sensor 23 detects the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b (step 10).
[0051] If the first wire detection sensor 23 does not detect the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b, the determination is continued using the first wire detection sensor.
[0052] If the first wire detection sensor 23 detects the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b, a determination is made as to whether the second collection box 16 has been returned to the first collection box 15 using the collection box detection sensor 22 (step 11). If the second collection box 16 has been returned, a signal indicating that the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b has been detected by the first wire detection sensor 23 is sent to the controller 2 of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A to display a message and perform the above operations from step 5 to step 9.
[0053] In contrast, if the second collection box 16 has not been returned to the first collection box 15 even if the wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b is detected by the first wire detection sensor 23, a determination regarding the presence of the second collection box 16 that has been returned to the first collection box 15 is continuously made using the collection box detection sensor 22 (step 11). If the second collection box 16 has been returned, a signal indicating this return is sent to the controller 2 of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A to display a message on the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A (step 12). At this time, the drive of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A is stopped (step 13).
[0054] In a preferred configuration, if the second wire detection sensor 24 or the third wire detection sensor 25 detects the wire electrode 3, an alarm signal (warning) is issued from the wire EDM machine A (controller 2).
[0055] As described above, in the wire collecting device B of the wire electric discharge machine A, by removing or discarding the used wire electrode 3 accumulated in the second collecting box 15 to prevent the detection of the used wire electrode 3 accumulated on the partition plate 19b by the first wire detection sensor 23, the second collecting box 16 can be removed and the used wire electrode 3 can be collected and discarded even during machining with the wire electric discharge machine A, in other words, even while the machining work is continued using the wire electric discharge machine A.
[0056] Thus, while the power supply to the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A must be stopped to collect and discard the used wire electrode 3 according to the conventional method, the wire collecting device B of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A of the embodiment eliminates this necessity. Thus, an improvement in machinability and productivity (production rate) can be promoted.
[0057] In the wire collecting device B of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A of the embodiment, if the collecting box detection sensor 22 detects the second collecting box 16 and none of the first wire detection sensor 23, the second wire detection sensor 24, and the third wire detection sensor 25 detects when a wire-cutting signal is sent from the controller 2 of the wire-cutting electric discharge machine A, the partition plate 19b is opened. If both the collecting box detection sensor 22 and the second wire detection sensor 24 detect when the wire-cutting signal is sent, the partition plate 19b is closed. Thus, if, for example, a need arises to cut and move the wire electrode 3, the used wire electrode 3 can be properly collected in the collecting box 15 or 16 after wire cutting.
[0058] While the embodiment of the present invention has been described above, the present invention should not be limited to the above embodiment, but can be appropriately changed within a range that does not deviate from the substance of the invention.
[0059] The opening / closing mechanism 19 according to the present invention does not always have to be configured like the configuration of the embodiment, but only needs to be configured in such a way that it allows the interior of the first collection box 15 to be divided into the upper space 17 and the lower space 18, has a size in which the second collection box 16 can be accommodated, and allows communication between the upper space 17 and the lower space 18 (allowing opening and closing). As shown in Fig. 8, for example, the opening / closing mechanism 19 may include a plurality of rotation axes 19a and a plurality of partition plates 19b. As shown in Fig. 9 and Fig. 10, for example, for opening and closing the partition plate 19b, the partition plate 19b may be configured in such a manner that it is capable of being inserted into and removed from the first collecting box 15 (capable of being advanced and retracted).
