Description

[0001] The invention relates to an identification plate for a pallet container for the storage and transport of liquid filling goods, with an inner thin-walled plastic container, with a grid frame tightly enclosing the plastic container made of welded horizontal and vertical grid tube bars, and a base pallet on which the plastic container rests and to which the grid frame is fastened, wherein the identification plate is provided with fastening means for fixing on the outside of the grid frame at the upper and lower edges, each of which engages behind a horizontal tubular bar. Problem:

[0002] Every newly delivered pallet container, regardless of its design, intended for its intended use is provided by the manufacturer with a label plate (also called a marking plate, marking plate, or label plate). The fillers, usually large industrial chemical companies, fill the pallet containers with their products, often hazardous liquid chemicals, for shipment to their customers or recipients. They attach appropriate stickers to the label plates. These stickers contain information about the respective contents, the manufacturer and recipient of the contents, as well as product data sheets, safety instructions, environmental compatibility, etc. At the customer's site, the liquid chemicals are removed from the pallet containers and further processed. The emptied pallet containers are taken back by the manufacturer or collected by reconditioning companies and refurbished and cleaned for reuse. This also includes removing the old labels from the identification plates. This is often very difficult and time-consuming. The labels must not detach from the identification plates and become lost during transport or outdoor storage. They are therefore applied with strong adhesives that can only be partially removed, even with solvent treatment, hot steam irradiation, and mechanical processing. Therefore, cleaning the bonded identification plates is usually uneconomical. Remanufacturing and reconditioning plants regularly apply new identification plates to the used, cleaned pallet containers, and the old identification plates are recycled. The reconditioning plants must purchase the new identification plates as replacement parts from the pallet container manufacturers and keep them in stock. The pallet container types used in the industrial market, produced by various manufacturers, are mostly equipped with lattice frames made of welded horizontal and vertical tubular bars with round or square cross-sections, whereby the grid spacing of the crossed tubular bars also differs. Furthermore, one pallet container manufacturer uses different grid spacings for the front, side, and rear walls of a pallet container, so that only one correspondingly adapted identification plate fits on each side wall of the lattice frame. Another pallet container manufacturer uses the same grid spacing for at least the front and rear walls, as well as both side walls, so that only two adapted identification plates are required.Although only one identification plate on the front of the pallet container with the bottom-side removal fitting is absolutely necessary, a side wall or the rear wall can also be provided with an additional identification plate upon customer request. State of the art :

[0003] From DE 195 37 490 C1, a labeling panel of the generic type for pallet containers with a mesh casing is known. The labeling panel consists of welded horizontal and vertical round metal tubular mesh bars, each provided with recesses at the cross joints and drawn in such a way that the welded mesh bars lie almost in one plane. The labeling panel, which is attached to the mesh casing, has a lower, outwardly bent or flanged support edge, which rests against a lower horizontal mesh bar and engages behind it, while the upper edge, designed as a claw edge, engages behind an upper horizontal mesh bar when the labeling panel is mounted, elastically bracing the labeling panel ( Fig. 2, Fig. 3). For this purpose, the claw edge can be made very short, so that its outward-facing edge rests on the rear side of the upper horizontal round tube grid bar, well below its centerline. This design represents an unsafe fastening option for the labeling panel. In filled pallet containers, the hydrostatic internal pressure of the liquid contents alone causes a bulging effect on the supporting grid frame. When transporting filled pallet containers, for example by truck, severe transport vibrations can occur, particularly on uneven roads with, for example, potholes. These lead to the liquid sloshing back and forth and exert dynamic pressure oscillations on the grid frame, which additionally cause a pulsating bulging effect on the grid frame and can very easily cause the claw edge to slip off the upper horizontal bar.

[0004] Another known labeling panel with a frame profile surrounding its outer edges is described in EP 2 161 703 B1. The frame profile protrudes furthest outward and is intended to protect the data sheets and information leaflets affixed to the slightly recessed adhesive surface from abrasion, which can frequently occur, for example, with labeling panels on closely spaced, identically constructed pallet containers on the loading area of trucks during transport vibrations. When mounted, the labeling panel rests with its upper and lower outer edges, or with the molded-in frame profile, against an upper and lower round horizontal bar.The signage panel is provided on the outside of each of the two side frame profiles with a beveled or flanged side edge with an outward-facing rolled edge profile, which, when in place, sits flush from the outside against a vertical round tube lattice bar. Precisely fitting recesses or openings for the horizontal tube bars are provided at the top and bottom of the side edges. The four rolled edge profiles protrude a few millimeters behind the openings in a tenon-like manner and, when installed, engage behind the top and bottom horizontal bars. For installation, the panel must be bent back at the top and bottom so that the tenon-like rolled edge profiles can be inserted behind the top and bottom horizontal bars.Next, two metal tabs located on the sides of the labeling plate must be bent around the central horizontal round tube rod, and the tab ends welded or clinched together. This labeling plate is therefore not suitable for reuse, because disassembly would require cutting through the metal tab or breaking and destroying the welded tab ends.

[0005] The earlier publication WO 2006 / 111303 A1 discloses a similar marking plate for pallet containers. The rearwardly beveled outer sides each have three recesses for the overlapped horizontal lattice tube bars with a square tubular profile. The rear edge of the outer sides is designed as a rolled edge profile, which has only a short interruption in the three recesses, such that a piece of the rolled edge profile protrudes into the recesses like a pin. When in place, these rolled edge pins engage behind the top, middle, and bottom horizontal bars and fix the marking plate to the outside of the lattice frame.

[0006] For installation, the upward-facing, slightly longer upper rolled edge pins are first pushed behind the top horizontal bar. Then the panel is folded onto the grid frame and moved downwards a short distance so that the downward-facing rolled edge pins in the middle and lower recesses engage behind the middle and lowest horizontal bars. The panel is then secured against displacement at the outer edges by two sheet metal tabs bent over the middle horizontal bar.

[0007] The familiar labeling panels are all manufactured to fit a very specific pallet container of a very specific design, with a lattice frame made of tubular bars with a square or round tube cross-section, and are precisely tailored to tight design-specific dimensional tolerances. For the familiar pallet containers with a lattice frame made of tubular bars with a round tube cross-section, the tubular bars have a diameter of 18 mm, whereas for the familiar pallet containers with a lattice frame made of tubular bars with a square tube cross-section, the tube dimensions are 16 mm x 16 mm. If the dimensional tolerances of the labeling panels are too small, problems arise during assembly. If the manufacturing tolerances are too large, the labeling panels are not firmly attached and could, in the worst case, fall off.

[0008] Furthermore, DE 10 2014 109 456 A1 discloses an information board comprising a structural unit assembled from several individual parts. A board-shaped plug-in element, which can be labeled on the front, has a welded, hook-shaped engagement section on its back. In order to be able to attach the plug-in board to a lattice frame, a separate fastening element is provided which consists of at least three individual parts, namely two superimposed sheet metal strip-like elongated hole rails, which are fastened detachably and longitudinally displaceably against one another by means of a connecting piece in the form of a threaded screw with a large flat head and a threaded nut inserted through the elongated holes. One sheet metal strip is provided with a large hook bent backwards at its free upper end and the other sheet metal strip is provided with a large hook bent backwards at its free lower end.By loosening the threaded screw, the stacked metal strips can be adjusted lengthwise against each other so that the hooks fit snugly around the transverse lattice tubes. The stacked metal strip-like slotted rails are then firmly screwed together. The metal strip facing away from the lattice frame is bent outward at its upper end, forming a holding section consisting of a short piece of the metal strip, onto which the plug-in panel, with its hook-shaped engagement section welded to its back, is attached.

[0009] This familiar information board is completely unsuitable for use on pallet containers, as it would easily fall off during transport. Furthermore, due to the separate fastening element, the edges of the attachable board protrude a certain distance from the horizontal tubes of the tubular frame and are exposed and unprotected. This means that, for example, during loading and unloading of pallet containers using forklifts from the back of a truck, the attachable boards of neighboring pallet containers would inevitably become tangled up and torn off. Task :

[0010] Given this situation, the inventor set himself the task of constructing a universal label plate that can be used on almost all common pallet containers of various designs available on the market. Solution :

[0011] This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least three tongue-shaped clamping tabs are provided at the upper and lower edges of the identification plate, each of which is spaced apart from one another and leaves a recess between them, the width of the recess being at least as wide as twice the diameter of a lattice tube rod, and in that the clamping tabs arranged at the upper and lower edges of the identification plate have an equal height of at least one and a half times the diameter of a lattice tube rod, the two outer clamping tabs at the upper and lower edges of the identification plate, which are each positioned closest to the right and left edges of the identification plate, having a distance of at least twice the diameter of a lattice tube rod from the right and left edges of the identification plate, and the clamping tabs are flat and even in themselves, and are angled backwards directly at the upper and lower edges of the marking plate in such a way that - when not mounted - they run in a recessed plane parallel to the plane of the marking plate.

[0012] The labeling plate designed in this way fits approximately 80% of the pallet containers of various designs currently available on the market. This advantageous approach allows reconditioning companies, in particular, to cost-effectively refurbish a wide variety of pallet containers from different manufacturers and re-market them in a resource-efficient manner by stocking just one universal labeling plate.

[0013] Taking into account the different grid dimensions and tubular bar diameters of the grid frames of the various pallet containers, the invention provides that the clamping tabs at the upper and lower edges of the marking plate have a uniform height of 30 mm to 35 mm, preferably 32 mm.

[0014] Due to the predetermined design differences in the lattice frames of known pallet containers, precise dimensions have been determined for the clamping tabs of the universal marking panel according to the invention. The clamping tabs at the top and bottom edges of the marking panel are designed to have a width of at least 50 mm and at most 91 mm, and to be spaced apart laterally by at least 70 mm and at most 120 mm, preferably 80 mm. Since the clamping tabs are vertically higher or longer than comparable fastening means of known marking panels, the inherently flat and level clamping tabs are angled backwards directly at the top and bottom edges of the marking panel in such a way that - when not mounted - they run plane-parallel to the plane of the marking panel (10) in a plane set back by 6 mm to 10 mm, preferably 7.6 mm.

[0015] This prevents the clamping tabs from coming into contact with the plastic inner container of the pallet container, even in the event of major bulging of the grid frame due to transport vibrations and dynamic surge loads.

[0016] In an embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the identification plate has an upper and a lower labeling field with a center line running horizontally therebetween, which - in the assembled state - runs on the outside of the tubular space frame above a covered horizontal tubular space bar and is positioned furthest outwards when viewed in the radial or vertical direction, while the upper edge of the upper labeling field and the lower edge of the lower labeling field are each offset to the rear by at least 14 mm.The upper edge of the upper labeling panel and the lower edge of the lower labeling panel are each supported on the front of at least two vertically extending tubular bars of the lattice frame, so that the upper and lower labeling panels are not located in the outer plane of the lattice frame, but are slightly elastically bent backwards and protected between two horizontally extending tubular bars of the lattice frame. This ensures that adhesive labels and information sheets on the upper and lower labeling panels cannot be rubbed off by transport vibrations when they come into contact with adjacent pallet containers.

[0017] In one embodiment, the identification plate is provided with three spaced-apart tongue-shaped clamping tabs with a width between 550 mm and 560 mm, preferably 551.2 mm, and, when mounted, covers two or three vertical tubular bars of the lattice tubular frame.

[0018] In another embodiment, the identification plate has four spaced-apart tongue-shaped clamping tabs at the top and bottom edges and a width between 700 mm and 710 mm, preferably 706.2 mm, and covers two, three or four vertical tubular bars of the lattice tubular frame when mounted.

[0019] Further advantageous and expedient embodiments of the invention are shown by the features in the subclaims.

[0020] The invention is explained and described in more detail below with reference to two exemplary embodiments schematically illustrated in the drawings. They show: Fig. 1 a first embodiment of a marking plate according to the invention, in plan view Fig. 2 the marking plate according to Fig. 1 in top view, Fig. 3 the marking plate according to Fig. 1 in side view, Fig. 4 the marking plate according to Fig. 1 in cross-sectional view and Fig. 5 a further embodiment of a marking plate according to the invention in perspective view

[0021] In Fig. 1 shows a label plate 10 according to the invention, which was designed as a universal label plate (10) for various types of known pallet containers. Pallet containers are generally used for the storage and transport of liquid goods. The structure of known pallet containers comprises an inner, thin-walled plastic container, a grid frame made of welded horizontal and vertical grid tube rods that tightly encloses the plastic container, and a base pallet on which the plastic container rests and to which the grid frame is fastened. A label plate is fastened to each outer side of the grid frame. The label plate 10 according to the invention now has special features for its universal use.For this purpose, at least three spaced-apart, tongue-shaped clamping tabs 16, 18 are provided on the upper edge 12 and lower edge 14, each leaving a recess 20 between them. The width of the recesses 20 is at least twice the diameter of a lattice tubular bar, i.e., at least 36 mm. As a predetermined fixed size, the diameter of tubular bars with a round cross-section is always 18 mm, while tubular bars with a square cross-section always have the dimensions 16 mm x 16 mm.

[0022] In order to ensure sufficient engagement of the horizontal tube bars and a secure hold on the respective tube lattice frame despite the different grid spacing of the various known tubular lattice frames, it is provided that the clamping tabs 16, 18 arranged on the upper and lower edges 12, 14 of the marking plate 10 have a uniform, equal height of at least one and a half times the diameter of a lattice tube bar, which in this specific case would be at least 27 mm.

[0023] Another important feature requires that the two outer clamping tabs 16, 18 on the upper and lower edges 12, 14 of the identification plate 10, which are each positioned closest to the right edge 22 and left edge 24 of the identification plate 10, have a lateral distance 26 of at least twice the diameter of a lattice tube rod to the right edge 22 and left edge 24 of the identification plate 10.

[0024] For the inventive designs of the clamping tabs 16, 18 on the upper and lower edges 12, 14 of the identification plate 10, a uniform height of 30 mm to 35 mm, preferably 32 mm, and a width of at least 50 mm and at most 91 mm was defined as feasible dimensions.

[0025] The clamping tabs 16, 18 should each have a lateral distance from each other of at least 70 mm and at most 120 mm, preferably 80 mm.

[0026] For this dimensioning of the clamping tabs 16, 18, the identification plate 10 without the clamping tabs 16, 18 has a uniform height of 358 mm.

[0027] The marking plate 10 designed in this way with the precise dimensions specified according to the invention fits on almost 80% of the pallet containers commonly found on the current market.

[0028] For mounting the identification plate 10 on a lattice frame made of welded horizontal and vertical lattice tubular bars with a square cross-section, the identification plate 10 has on both sides of the horizontally running center line 28 close to the right and left outer edges 22, 24 a small circular embossed indentation or bore 30 into which a self-tapping sheet metal screw can be screwed.

[0029] The marking plate 10 is further provided for mounting on a lattice frame made of welded horizontal and vertical lattice tubular bars with a circular cross-section just below the indentations or bores 30 embossed on the horizontal center line 28 with two further small circular embossed indentations or bores 32, into each of which a self-tapping sheet metal screw can be screwed.

[0030] The distance between the two circular embossed indentations or bores 32 and the two indentations or bores 30 arranged laterally on the horizontal center line 28 is between 5 mm and 20 mm, preferably 15 mm.

[0031] To reinforce the marking plate 10, a narrow side strip 34 is formed on the right edge 22 and left edge 24, angled rearward by approximately 60°. Nearly in the center, this strip has a recess 36 for the central, covered horizontal bar of the grid frame. The width of the recess 36 is expediently between 20 mm and 30 mm, preferably 22 mm.

[0032] Fig. Figure 2 shows the marking plate 10 in a top view. It can be seen that the clamping tabs 16, 18 are flat and level, and are angled backward directly at the upper and lower edges 12, 14 of the marking plate 10 such that—when not mounted—they extend in a plane set back by 6 mm to 10 mm, preferably 7.6 mm, parallel to the plane of the marking plate 10.

[0033] The slight offset in the angling of the clamping tabs 16, 18 relative to the plane of the marking plate 10 ensures that the upper and lower marking field is bent slightly backwards and is set back and protected between the upper and lower horizontally running tubular bars of the grid frame.

[0034] It is also evident that the three clamping tabs 16, 18 have different widths. Clamping tabs 16 are somewhat narrower and have a width of 55 mm, while clamping tabs 18 are somewhat wider and have a width between 85 mm and 91 mm. The narrower clamping tab 16 is positioned between the two wider clamping tabs 18.

[0035] At the Fig. From the side view of the identification plate 10 shown in Figure 3, it can be seen that the recess 36 in the rearwardly angled side strip 34 is offset downwards by a small distance of approximately 8 mm relative to the center line 28. Furthermore, it can be seen that the rearwardly angled side strip 34 has its greatest width of a maximum of 18 mm, preferably 15 mm, in the center next to the recess 36 and becomes narrower towards the upper and lower edges 12, 14 of the identification plate 10.

[0036] The cross-sectional view of the marking plate 10 in Fig. 4 once again illustrates the flat and level design of the clamping tabs 16, 18, which are angled backwards and are designed to run in a plane parallel to the plane of the identification plate 10 in a plane set back by 6 mm to 10 mm, preferably 7.6 mm.

[0037] The identification plate 10 is made of sheet steel and has a wall thickness or material thickness of 0.4 mm to 1 mm, preferably 0.5 mm.

[0038] Fig.Figure 5 shows a perspective view of a somewhat larger embodiment of an identification plate 10 according to the invention, in which four spaced-apart tongue-shaped clamping tabs 16, 18 are formed on the upper and lower edges 12, 14. The identification plate 10 with the four tongue-shaped clamping tabs 16, 18 has a width between 700 mm and 710 mm, preferably 705 mm, and, when installed, covers two, three, or four vertical tubular bars of the lattice frame. To the left of the narrower clamping tab 16 with a width of 55 mm, a wider clamping tab 18 with a width of 91 mm is arranged, while to the right of the narrower clamping tab 16, two wider clamping tabs 18 with widths of 85 mm and 91 mm are arranged.

[0039] For general reinforcement and to eliminate sharp punched edges as protection against cuts, all outwardly facing free edges 12, 14 and 22, 24 of the identification plate 10 as well as the clamping tabs 16, 18 are flanged on the outside or provided with a narrow folded edge.

[0040] With the labeling panel 10 according to the invention, the specific dimensions are ultimately crucial. Nevertheless, the labeling panel 10 offers, for the first time, a universal mounting option on various differently designed lattice frames of known pallet containers, where the labeling panel was previously attached by clamping an upper "claw edge" to the uppermost horizontal tube bar or by clamping edge profiles molded onto the outer edges behind the upper and lower horizontal tubes. What these two systems have in common is that the spacing of the relevant horizontal tubes must be tightly toleranced to ensure secure attachment.

[0041] The universal marking plate 10 according to the invention functions differently. Here, the sufficiently long clamping tabs 16, 18 are pushed behind the two horizontal tubes at the top and bottom by first inserting the lower clamping tabs 16, 18 of the plate behind the lower horizontal tube. The marking plate 10 is then elastically bent along the central axis until the upper clamping tabs 16, 18 can pass under the horizontal tube. After that, the bend in the marking plate 10 returns to its original position, and the clamping tabs 16, 18 are now located behind the two horizontal tubes. For the final vertical position of the marking plate 10, two selectable options are provided by slightly sliding the plate on the central covered horizontal bar within the recess 36 provided in the rearwardly angled side strip 34.For lattice frames with square tubular bar profiles, the identification plate 10 is placed downwards until the angled side strip 34 rests on the central horizontal tube from above in the recess 36. Two self-tapping screws are then screwed into the recesses or holes 30 arranged along the horizontal center line 28, and the identification plate 10 is immovably fixed to the central horizontal tube.

[0042] For lattice frames with a round tubular bar cross-section, the marking plate 10 is placed upwards until the angled side strip 34 in the recess 36 abuts the central horizontal tubular bar from below. Two sheet metal screws are then screwed into the recesses or holes 32 located just below the horizontal center line 28, and the marking plate 10 is immovably fixed to the central horizontal round tubular bar.

[0043] The identification plate 10 can thus be moved vertically as required within the width of the recess 36 in the angled side strip 34 between 5 mm and 20 mm, preferably 15 mm.

[0044] All known identification plates have the disadvantage that they must be manufactured precisely and accurately with very tight tolerances in order to fit a very specific type of pallet container and to be securely attached to it. For example, a common pallet container with square profile tubular bars requires one identification plate for the front and another adapted identification plate for one side wall. Other common pallet containers with round tube lattice bars are manufactured by two different manufacturers. In each case, three different adapted identification plates are required: one for the front, one for a side wall, and one for the rear wall of the pallet container. The identification plates are not interchangeable, as their top and bottom edges each border a horizontal bar and their side edges each cover a vertical tubular bar. Thus, for comparable pallet containers with different grid spacings from three manufacturers, eight different customized labeling plates are required. If a customer then also requests a larger version of the labeling plates, a reconditioner would theoretically have to keep sixteen different labeling plates in stock. All of these different labeling plates can be replaced by the inventive marking plate 10 in two size variants (2 for 16).

[0045] The special design of this marking plate 10 allows for universal use on used pallet containers and impresses with its structural simplicity, combining conventional measures (clamping hooks, screw connections, bracing, gripping) with cost-effective production and easy installation. It is therefore particularly suitable for reconditioning and refurbishment companies for used pallet containers of various designs.
