Description

[0001] The invention relates to a vehicle with a front trunk according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0002] In a battery-powered vehicle (BEV), the area in the front of the vehicle structure that usually houses an engine compartment is used as a front trunk for additional cargo space, since there is no combustion engine.

[0003] Mobile transport boxes for vehicles are known, which are made of polypropylene (PP) or PP with glass fiber reinforcement, for example.

[0004] For example, DE 20 2016 000 950 U1 discloses a heat-insulating transport box with a container having an opening and an associated lid, wherein the container is made at least partially of foam plastic. It is proposed to manufacture the container and the lid from foam plastic, in particular from expanded polypropylene (EPP). This material is cost-effective and relatively easy to process, and in addition to good thermal insulation due to gas inclusions, it also exhibits advantageous structural properties.

[0005] Furthermore, from US 2004 / 0135390 A1 a charging management system for vehicles is known in which a storage compartment is provided under a trunk floor cover, which is used as a cooling box by means of a temperature-insulating layer.

[0006] From the subsequently published DE 10 2019 001 342 A1 and DE 10 2019 000 158 B4, a vehicle with a load receptacle is known that is pivotably arranged in a loading space opening of a front loading space. The load receptacle, which is designed as a storage tray or storage tray, is coupled to a front flap that can be pivoted between a closed position and an open position in such a way that, when the front flap is pivoted in its open position, the load receptacle is pivoted from a basic position into a loading position or into a raised access position. In the loading position or in the raised access position, the load receptacle is inclined relative to its basic position toward the outside of the vehicle or is additionally pivoted and / or rotated.

[0007] DE 10 2007 027 782 A1 describes a vehicle whose body includes a recess in the rear floor covered by a plate. This plate is firmly connected to the rear floor module and / or to the body by means of a circumferential and edge connection. This plate forms a stiffening element and increases the torsional rigidity of the body in the floor area.

[0008] Finally, EP 0 401 251 B1 also discloses a vehicle with a recess in the trunk for accommodating a spare wheel with a wheel disc. The base of the recess is cup-shaped in the area of the wheel disc and accommodates a canister, which serves to collect vapors escaping from the vehicle's fuel tank during refueling.

[0009] The invention is based on the object of providing a vehicle with a front trunk with improved properties compared to the prior art.

[0010] This object is achieved by a vehicle having the features of claim 1.

[0011] Such a vehicle with a front-end structure comprising a front trunk and on which a pivoting front hood is mounted above the trunk is characterized according to the invention in that - the trunk is a support formed in the shape of a trunk recess, - the carrier is firmly connected to the front end structure, and - the carrier is made of a plastic material with a plastic film on the surface.

[0012] According to the invention, the container forming the front trunk is made of a plastic material with a plastic film on its surface. The support designed as a trunk recess is thus a lightweight component, which reduces the weight of the vehicle. Furthermore, such a component made of a plastic material improves the acoustic properties compared to a trunk recess made of sheet metal parts. The support is preferably made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) as a plastic material and is, for example, glued into the vehicle body, thus forming an integral part of the front-end structure of the body.

[0013] Furthermore, the trunk recess has very good heat-insulating properties due to the EPP material used, so that drinks and food, for example, can be kept warm or cold even without active air conditioning.

[0014] According to an advantageous development of the invention, the trunk recess is designed to be closable by means of a cover arranged on the front hood, wherein the cover is made of a plastic material with a plastic film on its surface. Preferably, the cover is also made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) as the plastic material. The cover can preferably be integrated into the front hood, so that when the hood is closed, the trunk recess is also closed by means of the cover.

[0015] According to the development, the plastic film is a PP film. The trunk recess is thus created simply by first deep-drawing a PP film in the desired shape as a trunk recess and then back-foaming it with EPP plastic in a subsequent step.

[0016] A particularly preferred development of the invention provides that the carrier has a connection device for coupling to the air conditioning system. This also enables active air conditioning of the trunk compartment.

[0017] Further advantages, features, and details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments and from the drawings. These show: Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the front end structure of a vehicle with a front trunk and an open front hood, and Fig. 2 a perspective sectional view of section AA according to Fig. 1.

[0018] The Fig. 1 shows a front-end structure 10 with an open front hood 11 of a vehicle. The pivoting front hood 11 is pivotally connected to the front-end structure 10. A trunk 1 of the front-end structure 10 is located beneath the closed front hood 11.

[0019] This trunk 1 is formed in the form of a trunk recess 1.1 by a support 2, which is constructed from a plastic material with a surface-side plastic film 2.1.

[0020] The support 2, designed as a trunk recess 1.1 with the plastic film 2.1 on its surface, is thus a lightweight component, which reduces the weight of the vehicle. Furthermore, such a component made of a plastic material improves the acoustic properties compared to a trunk recess made of sheet metal parts.

[0021] The structure of the trunk recess 1.1 shows Fig. 2 in a sectional view along section AA. This section AA has a hat-brimmed shape in the transverse direction of the vehicle, with the U-shape forming a receiving space 1.10 for accommodating objects. The hat-brimmed shape also exists in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The trunk recess 1.1 consists of the support 2 and is made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) as a plastic material, with the support 2 having a thin plastic film 2.1 made of PP (polypropylene) as its surface.

[0022] To produce this lightweight component, the PP film is first deep-drawn according to the shape of the trunk recess 1.1 and then this deep-drawn PP film is back-foamed with the EPP plastic in a further step.

[0023] The trunk recess 1.1, designed as a lightweight component, is firmly connected to the front-end structure 10 of the vehicle, for example by means of an adhesive connection, and is thus a component of this front-end structure.

[0024] To close the trunk recess 1.1, a cover 1.2 is integrated into the front hood 11 of the front-end structure 10 in such a way that the trunk recess 1.1 is also closed when the front hood 11 is closed. This cover 1.2 is also made of an EPP plastic and at least its surface adjacent to the trunk recess 1.1 is covered with a PP film.

[0025] Due to the heat-insulating properties of the carrier 2, the trunk recess 1.1 is passively tempered so that food and drinks can be kept warm or cold in the receiving space 1.10.

[0026] However, it is also possible to implement active temperature control of the trunk recess 1.1. For this purpose, the carrier 2 has Fig. 1 has a connection device 1.3, which is connected to the vehicle's air conditioning system for air conditioning the trunk recess 1.1. This connection device 1.3 is designed, for example, as a window closed with a grille, which is connected to an air duct, for example, an air conditioning unit.
