Description

scope

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of combination frames for electrical connectors. State of the art

[0002] Electrical connectors are a common component in the field of electrical engineering. They are used to connect the circuits of different devices or to connect different modules in a circuit so that a current or a signal can be conducted or transmitted in order to implement predetermined functions of the respective circuit. Previously known electrical connectors each comprise an electrical plug and an electrical socket, which are usually connected by inserting the electrical plug into the electrical socket to create an electrical connection between the electrical connection in the electrical plug and the electrical connection in the electrical socket.

[0003] A combination frame for electrical connectors is used to accommodate multiple electrical connectors and thus enables simultaneous electrical connections between multiple electrical connectors to increase work efficiency.

[0004] For example, patent CN 1 122 338 C and DE 197 07 120 C1 disclose a combination frame comprising two frame halves that are hinged together and each provided with a blind bore. When the two frame halves are in an open position relative to each other, an electrical connector can be inserted into the space between the two frame halves or removed from the space between the two frame halves. When the two frame halves are in a closed position relative to each other, the projections arranged on both sides of the electrical connector engage in the blind bores of the two frame halves to secure the electrical connector relative to the combination frame. The combination frame provided by this patent does not provide a holding structure for stably holding the combination frame in the closed or open position, so that unnecessary pivoting of the two frame halves of the combination frame connector is likely to occur when inserting or removing the electrical connector, thereby making operation difficult.

[0005] Patents CN 107 925 193 A and WO 2017 / 036 447 A1 disclose a combination frame for electrical connectors. The frame consists of two frame halves that are articulated together and held in a closed or open position by means of a spring-loaded locking hook 9 and 9'. To securely hold the two frame halves in the closed and open positions, an additional locking hook 9 and 9' is provided. This requires higher material costs, more process steps during production, and thus higher production costs.

[0006] The document DE 10 2015 114 703 A1 relates to a holding frame into which connector modules can be inserted, wherein the holding frame consists of two halves that can be connected to one another, wherein the halves can be aligned in at least two positions relative to one another, wherein the holding frame has at least one fixing means and wherein the halves can be fixed in at least two positions relative to one another via the at least one fixing means. At least one press lug, but preferably two press lugs, is / are formed on the first half. The second half has two recesses on one end side or two recesses on each of the two end sides, and the press lug can be pressed into the two recesses or the press lugs can be pressed into the two recesses, whereby the halves can be fixed in at least two positions relative to one another, an open position and a closed position.

[0007] The document DE 10 2015 104 562 A1 relates to a holding frame for holding connector modules that can be inserted into the holding frame, consisting of two frame parts that have holding means, wherein the first frame part is connected to the second frame part by means of at least one sliding bearing arrangement so that it can be moved back and forth and the frame parts can be moved back and forth as intended from an extended position into a pushed-together position.

[0008] The document DE 20 2012 103 360 U1 relates to a holding frame for connector modules, which has two frame halves which can be locked together by linearly displacing one frame half relative to the other frame half in a sliding direction, characterized in that mutually corresponding locking means are provided on the frame halves, which, during linear displacement, cause the two frame halves to lock together in two different locking positions in which the frame halves are spaced apart from one another at different distances.

[0009] Document CN 104 466 562 A relates to a connecting module mounting frame comprising a left and a right frame, wherein the left and right frames are detachably connected to each other to form a rectangular frame with an open upper end, and there are corresponding outwardly directed flanges on both sides of the left and right frames, and the flanges partially overlap at the connection point and are connected to each other by a snap-in connection block. Content of the invention

[0010] Objective: To overcome the deficiencies in the prior art, the present invention provides a modular connector combination frame that is easy to use, manufacture and cost-effective.

[0011] A “composable connector combination frame” is understood here to mean a connector combination frame for the assembly of connectors, in particular a holding frame for connector modules, wherein the connector modules can be inserted into the holding frame in order to obtain an assembly of the connector modules.

Concrete embodiments

[0032] The invention is described in more detail below with reference to the attached drawings. First embodiment

[0033] Out of Fig. 1 to 3 show a modular connector combination frame (hereinafter referred to as combination frame) which comprises two pivotally connected frame halves, namely a first frame half 1 and a second frame half 2, which can be moved between an open position and a closed position.

[0034] Each of the frame halves consists of a fastening section provided with one or more fastening holes and two side sections located on either side of the fastening section, each arranged at a right angle to the fastening section, with both the fastening section and the side section being plate-shaped. Specifically, the first frame half 1, as shown in Fig. 3, from a first fastening section 17 and two first side sections 11 and the second frame half 2 from a second fastening section 27 and two second side sections 21. In the first fastening section 17 and the second fastening section 27, a plurality of paired first fastening holes 16 and second fastening holes 26 are provided, wherein both the first fastening hole and the second fastening hole are designed as square holes and the first and second fastening holes are of different dimensions. In the open position according to Fig. 2, an electrical connector 6 can enter or exit the combination frame. The connector can be designed as a connector module, as shown in the Fig. 1. In the Fig. 1, the electrical connector 6 is locked between the two frame halves and cannot be removed by the projections 61 provided on both sides of the electrical connector 6 engaging in the first fastening hole 16 and the second fastening hole 26, respectively. Since the projections 61 on both sides of the electrical connector 6 are designed differently, the different dimensions of the first fastening hole 16 and the second fastening hole 26 can create idiot-proof protection against reversed insertion of the electrical connector 6. The first and second frame halves, including the first and second side sections, each have an inner side wall and an outer side wall that lie opposite one another. The inner side walls form a boundary of an area for receiving electrical connectors.

[0035] The first side section 11 and the second side section 21, which are located on the same side, have opposing surfaces, so that the projections of the first side section 11 and the second side section 21, viewed in the axial direction of the corresponding pivot axis of the first frame half 1 and the second frame half 2, always have an overlap area, wherein a first locking section 12 is provided on one of the two opposing surfaces of the first and second side sections, while two second locking sections 22 are provided on the other surface. Through the interaction of the first locking section 12 with the two second locking sections 22, the two frame halves can be held stably in their open position or in their closed position. In this way, the two frame halves can remain independently in the open position so that the user can insert or remove an electrical connector. Furthermore, the two frame halves can also remain independently in the closed position. In both positions, the two frame halves can be locked relative to each other without manual user intervention. This reliably prevents the two frame halves from pivoting during an operation and the resulting problems. Furthermore, unwanted movement of the two frame halves from the closed position caused by incorrect gripping of the combination frame, which could result in the electrical connectors falling out, can be avoided.

[0036] In the Fig. 4 and Fig. In the embodiment shown in Figure 5, the first locking portion 12 is arranged on the first side portion 11, while the two second locking portions 22 are located on the second side portion 21. In other embodiments, it is also conceivable to arrange the first locking portion 12 on the second side portion 21 and the two second locking portions 22 on the first side portion 11.

[0037] One of the locking sections described above, i.e. the first locking section 12 and the second locking section 22, is a projection protruding from the respective side section, and the other locking section is a recess sinking into the respective side section. In the illustrated embodiment, the projection and the recess are each formed integrally on the first side section 11 and the second side section 21, respectively, wherein the two frame halves are held stable in the respective position by the projection engaging in the recess. When switching between the positions, the projection moves out of the recess under the influence of an external force exerted by the user on the two frame halves, so that the locking effect on the two frame halves is canceled. In this process, the two frame halves undergo a certain elastic deformation to allow the projection to move freely out of the recess. In other embodiments, the projection can also be a separate part attached to the first side section 11 and exhibiting inherent elasticity.

[0038] The frame halves can each be a single-piece component. The single-piece component can be, for example, a cast metal component, manufactured using die-casting or low-pressure casting technology, where the metal can be a non-ferrous alloy, e.g., a zinc alloy or an aluminum alloy, which in turn can preferably be duralumin. Alternatively, one of the following techniques can be used for manufacturing the frame halves: stamping, impact extrusion, or extrusion. Such an implementation can be advantageous for providing the desired and permanent elasticity of the frame halves, which causes the frame halves to recover their shape after elastic deformation. This means that, in contrast to the prior art cited above, no additional suspension components are necessary to implement the locking of the two frame halves in their open position or in their closed position, since the frame halves themselves generate the suspension force during elastic deformation.

[0039] Furthermore, the manufacturing process for the frame halves is simplified. After the frame halves are manufactured, the complementary pairs of frame halves are assembled by overcoming the spring force of the frame halves. Then, optional grounding bushings 5 and grounding pins 4 can be installed in the frame halves, e.g., by placing them in corresponding mounting sections 29, 210 of the frame halves and subsequently pressing the mounting sections to secure the grounding bushings and grounding pins in the mounting sections.

[0040] The first locking section 12 and the second locking section 22 can also be designed differently than a projection and recess, e.g., as an eccentric lock, as a snap hook with a rear grip, and / or as a dead center spring. Any design in which the first locking section 12 and the second locking section 22 are designed and with which the above-mentioned function can be realized falls within the scope of the invention.

[0041] In addition, a grounding pin 4 and a grounding socket 5 are attached to the frame body formed by the first frame half 1 and the second frame half 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the grounding pin 4 and the grounding socket 5 are attached to an outer side 21b of a respective second side section 21 of the second frame half 2. In practice, combination frames are used in pairs, as can be seen from Fig. 10. Each of the combination frames can be equipped with a plurality of electrical connectors 6, wherein the electrical connectors 6 of the two combination frames are arranged in pairs such that, by bringing the two combination frames closer together, all of the electrical connectors 6 arranged in the two combination frames can be plugged into one another. At the same time as the electrical connectors 6 of the two combination frames are plugged into one another, the grounding pins 4 and the grounding sockets 5 of the two combination frames are also plugged into one another. With the aid of the grounding pin and the grounding socket, the two frame halves and thus also all of the electrical connectors 6 in the holding frame can be grounded, in order to protect the electrical connectors 6 from static electricity or to protect people and devices from leakage currents from the electrical connectors 6.

[0042] Furthermore, the grounding pins 4 and the grounding sockets 5 of the two combination frames can together function as positioning pins when plugged into one another in order to ensure alignment of the two combination frames when plugged into one another. Second embodiment

[0043] The present embodiment results from a further optimization of the above first embodiment and also comprises a first frame half 1 and a second frame half 2, wherein the connection type between the first frame half 1 and the second frame half 2 and the design of the support structure are identical to the first embodiment. Based on the first embodiment, the present embodiment provides the following further developments: Out of Fig. 5 it can be seen that the first side section 11 has an articulated arm 18, the end of which is designed as a first articulated section 13, while the second side section 21, as in Fig. 4, a receiving groove 28 in which the articulated arm 18 can move and which does not penetrate the second side section 21, and a second joint section 23 forming a clearance fit with the first joint section 13, wherein the locking section located on the second side section 21 is formed on the groove base of the receiving groove 28 and the locking section located on the first side section 11 is formed on the side surface of the articulated arm 18 facing the groove base of the receiving groove 28. The groove base of the receiving groove 28 is spaced from the inner side wall 21a of the second side section 21, which has the said receiving groove.

[0044] Since the articulated arm 18 can only move in the receiving groove 28, the receiving groove 28 has a limiting effect on the angle of rotation of the articulated arm 18. This is achieved by the groove walls on both sides of the receiving groove 28 serving as a stop for rotational movements, which only allows a rotation of the articulated arm 18 by a set angle and thus only a pivoting out of the two frame halves from each other by the set angle, wherein the set angle in the present embodiment is 18°.

[0045] When the articulated arm 18 comes into contact with one of the groove walls of the receiving groove 28, the first locking section 12 interacts with one of the second locking sections 22, see Fig. 6. On the other hand, the first locking section 12 cooperates with the other second locking section 22 when the articulated arm 18, as in Fig. 7, comes into contact with the other groove wall of the receiving groove 28. In this way, the combination frame can be easily switched between the open position and the closed position.

[0046] One of the joint sections described above, i.e., the first joint section 13 and the second joint section 23, is a joint shaft, and the other joint section is a joint hole. In the illustrated embodiment, the first joint section 13 is designed as a joint shaft, and the second joint section 23 is designed as a joint hole penetrating the second side section 21. In other embodiments, it is also conceivable to design the first joint section 13 as a joint hole and the second joint section 23 as a joint shaft.

[0047] Furthermore, the two receiving grooves 28 of the two second side sections 21 are open to the outside, so that the two frame halves are fixed to each other in the axial direction when the two articulated arms 18 of the two first side sections 11 engage in the two receiving grooves 28. Thus, an additional component for fixing the two frame halves in the axial direction can be dispensed with.

[0048] Furthermore, one of the articulated arms 18 is located between the groove bottom of the receiving groove 28 of one of the second side sections 21 and a base 4a of the grounding pin 4. The other of the articulated arms 18 is located between the groove bottom of the receiving groove 28 of the other of the second side sections 21 and a base 5a of the grounding socket 5. Such a configuration can provide advantageous protection for the articulated arms 18. The groove bottom and the base form a protective space for the articulated arm, which protects the articulated arm against unwanted mechanical attacks that could cause its breakage.

[0049] Alternatively, locking sections may be located on mutually facing side walls of the articulated arm 18 and the base 4a, 5a of the grounding pin 4 or the grounding socket 5. This could be advantageous because the locking sections can be formed from different materials, which in turn can result in reduced wear of projections and / or recesses. Third embodiment

[0050] The present embodiment results from a further optimization of the above first or second embodiment. The modular connector combination frame according to the present embodiment comprises, in addition to the first frame half 1 and the second frame half 2, a locking element 3, which allows the two frame halves to be fixed relative to one another in the closed position. If the two frame halves are locked by the locking element 3, they would not move into the open position even in the event of incorrect operation, thus eliminating the risk of the electrical connector held between the two frame halves falling out.

[0051] The locking element 3 is removable from the two frame halves and has an engagement groove 31 on each of the opposite sides. When locked by the locking element 3, the two frame halves each partially engage the associated engagement groove 31. After inserting an electrical connector, the two frame halves are moved into the closed position and fitted with the locking element 3 to lock the two frame halves. To remove the electrical connector, the locking element 3 is first removed and then the two frame halves are moved into the open position.

[0052] In particular, the first page section 11, as can be seen from Fig. 1, with a first flange 14 and the second side section 21 with a second flange 24. As Fig. 9 shows, the locking element 3 is H-shaped and has an engagement groove 31 on each side. In the closed position of the two frame halves, there is a clearance between the two flanges (i.e. the first flange 14 and the second flange 24) into which the web can be inserted between the two engagement grooves 31 of the locking element 3 such that the edges of the first and second flanges engage in the two engagement grooves 31, see Fig. 8. This represents a preferred embodiment. Any other embodiment in which the engagement grooves 31 fix the two frame halves relative to each other also falls within the scope of the invention.

[0053] In order to prevent displacement of the locking element 3 relative to the two frame halves in the locked state, a locking groove 220 is formed on one of the components, i.e. the locking element 3 and at least one of the frame halves, and a locking projection 32 is formed on the other component. In the illustrated embodiment, the locking groove 220 is formed on the second frame half 2 and the locking projection 32 is formed on the locking element 3. Due to the interaction of the locking groove 220 with the locking projection 32, displacement of the locking element 3 relative to the two frame halves in the locked state can be virtually ruled out. Separation of the locking projection 32 from the locking groove 220 would only occur if a large force acts on the locking element 3.

[0054] It is further provided that the locking element 3, as in Fig.9, a recess 33 and at least one of the frame halves has a locking section 25. In the present exemplary embodiment, the locking section 25 is located on the second frame half 2. In particular, the second side sections 21 on both sides of the second frame half 2 are each connected to a second flange 24, wherein a first mounting section 29 for mounting the grounding pin 4 is formed on one of the second flanges 24 and a second mounting section 210 for mounting the grounding socket 5 is formed on the other second flange 24. The second mounting section 210 has the shape of a cylindrical sleeve, on the outer wall of which a protruding rib is provided which extends in the axial direction of the cylindrical sleeve and functions as a locking section 25.

[0055] When two combination frames are equipped with electrical connectors 6, the locking portion 25 of one of the combination frames engages the recess 33 of the other combination frame when the electrical connectors of the two combination frames are plugged into one another. This prevents movement of the locking element 3 relative to the two frame halves in its operating position, with the locking portion 25 of the other combination frame exerting a locking effect. To remove the electrical connectors, the two combination frames must therefore first be separated from each other and then the electrical connectors removed one after the other to ensure reliable protection against improper operation.

[0056] In the modular connector combination frame according to the invention, the provision of the first locking section and the second locking section, which can interact with each other, on two frame halves ensures that the two frame halves can remain stable in both an open position and a closed position without the use of additional components, allowing the user to insert or remove an electrical connector. This simplifies operation and keeps costs low.

[0057] The above description represents only preferred embodiments of the invention. It will be clear to those of ordinary skill in the art that further developments and modifications can be made within the scope of the invention, which are also included within the scope of the invention.
