Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to garden shears and in particular to garden shears with a power-saving design. 2. State of the art
[0002] Generally, a pair of garden shears consists primarily of a first blade and a second blade. The first and second blades are connected by a pivoting mechanism. Additionally, the lower ends of both blades are attached to a handle. The user holds the two handles and applies force to move them towards or away from each other, thereby achieving the goal of pruning branches and leaves with the first and second blades.
[0003] When using garden shears to prune branches and leaves, the user typically has to repeatedly open and close the two handles. If the two blades are cutting a branch with a relatively large diameter, the handles usually need to be operated several times to complete the cut, making traditional garden shears quite tedious and time-consuming for the user.
[0004] DE 20 2009 001 988 U1 discloses a pair of garden shears with a fixed cutting lever, an operating lever (20), and a cutting element. The fixed cutting lever and the cutting element are each screwed together by means of a screw element via a pivot hole and a fastening hole, wherein the cutting element and the operating lever are each screwed together via a mounting hole at the distal end of the support arm and via a connecting hole (21). DE 20 2008 013 797 discloses a pair of pruning shears with a first fixed cutting edge, a second movable cutting edge, and a rocker lever, wherein, for combining the first and the second cutting edges, two fastening elements are guided through a connecting hole of the first cutting edge and through a through hole of the second cutting edge.
[0005] Therefore, the applicant believes that garden shears which can achieve a force-saving effect in order to spare the user effort during operation represent a practical solution. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] A key objective of the present invention is to provide garden shears with a power-saving design that can change the torque generated by the force applied to the handles during operation, thereby saving the user more power than with the prior art and making the use more convenient.
[0007] To solve the aforementioned problem, the present invention provides garden shears with an energy-saving design, comprising a shaft, a first handle, a first blade, a second handle, and a second blade. The shaft has an elongated groove near its upper end. The first handle is connected to a lower end of the shaft. The first blade has a first blade section and a first shaft section. A lower end of the first blade section is connected to an upper end of the first shaft section. The first shaft section has an axle assembly near its upper end. The axle assembly is located in the elongated groove of the shaft. The second handle is connected to a lower end of the first shaft section. The second blade has a second blade section and a second shaft section. The second shaft section extends from a lower end of the second blade section. A portion of the second shaft section located near its upper end is pivotally connected to a portion of the first shaft section located near its upper end by a first pivot element. Another portion of the second shaft section located near its lower end is pivotally connected to the shaft by a second pivot element. When the first and second handles are opened or closed, the pivot assembly moves along the elongated groove of the shaft, and the first and second scissor blades open or close accordingly.
[0008] As a result, the present invention provides a garden shear with a power-saving design, the technical feature of which is the axis arrangement that moves along the elongated groove of the shaft, which can change the torque generated by the force exerted on the handles during operation, in order to save the user effort and thus make use more convenient. [0009] For a detailed description of the technical features of the present invention, the preferred embodiments and the associated drawings are specified and illustrated below, wherein: as in the Fig. Figures 1-5 show a garden shears 10 with a power-saving design of a first preferred embodiment of the present invention comprising a shaft 20, a first handle 30, a first shear blade 40, a second handle 50 and a second shear blade 60.
[0010] As in the Fig. As shown in Figures 1-2, the shaft 20 is provided with an elongated groove 21 near the upper end.
[0011] The first handle 30 is connected to the lower end of the shaft 20, so that the user can hold the first handle 30 and exert force on it.
[0012] The first scissor blade 40 has a first blade section 41 and a first shaft section 43. The lower end of the first blade section 41 is connected to the upper end of the first shaft section 43. The first shaft section 43 is provided with an axle assembly 45 near its upper end. The axle assembly 45 is located in the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20. In this preferred embodiment, the axle assembly 45 consists of a screw element 451 and a ring element 453. The screw element 451 is a threaded rod, and the ring element 453 is made of a wear-resistant material such as metal or ceramic. The screw element 451 is inserted through the ring element 453 and screwed into the first shaft section 43 at a position near the upper end of the first shaft section 43 to connect the ring element 453 and the first shaft section 43.The ring element 453, on the other hand, is rotatable relative to the screw element 451, and the diameter of the ring element 453 is slightly smaller than the width of the elongated groove 21, so that the ring element 453 can just be accommodated in the elongated groove 21.
[0013] In further practical embodiments, the axle arrangement 45 can be formed integrally on the first shaft section 43 near the upper end of the first shaft section 43.
[0014] The second handle 50 is connected to the lower end of the first shaft section 43, so that the user can hold the second handle 50 and exert force on it.
[0015] The second scissor blade 60 has a second blade section 61 and a second shaft section 63. The second shaft section 63 extends from the lower end of the second blade section 61. A portion of the second shaft section 63, located near its upper end, is pivotally connected by a first pivot element 65 to a portion of the first shaft section 43, located near its upper end, and another portion of the second shaft section 63, located near its lower end, is pivotally connected to the shaft 20 by a second pivot element 67.
[0016] As in the Fig. As shown in Figures 3-5, the axis assembly 45 is movable along the elongated groove 21 when the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 are opened or closed, and the first scissor blade 40 and the second scissor blade 60 are opened or closed accordingly. The greater the distance between the axis assembly 45 and the second pivoting element 67, the longer the force arm between the second pivoting element 67 and the axis assembly 45, and the greater the resulting torque. The user, operating the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 under conditions of a relatively higher torque, can reliably conserve effort. In this preferred embodiment, as shown in the Fig. As shown in Figures 3-5, an imaginary straight line L is defined connecting the center of the first pivot element 65 and the center of the second pivot element 67. When the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 are in a closed position, the axis assembly 45 is located on one side of the imaginary straight line L, this side being defined as the outside. When the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 are in an open position, the axis assembly 45 moves along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20 in the direction of approach to the second pivot element 67, and the axis assembly 45 moves from the outside of the imaginary straight line L toward the other side of the imaginary straight line L, this side being defined as the inside. When the center of the axle assembly 45 is moved to the inside of the imaginary line L, the axle assembly 45 is moved along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20 in the direction of removal of the second pivoting element 67. As can be seen from the preceding description of the assembly, the axle assembly 45 is located at the upper end of the elongated groove 21 when the garden shears 10 of the present invention are not in use, as shown in the figure. Fig. 3 shown. When the user applies force to the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 to open them outwards, the axis assembly 45 is moved along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20 in the direction of approach to the second pivoting element 67. When the center of the axis assembly 45 is located on the imaginary straight line L, as shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the axis arrangement 45 is located at the lower end of the elongated groove 21. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 5, the center point of the axis assembly 45 is moved towards the inside of the imaginary straight line L as the first and second handles 30 and 50 continue to be opened by force, while in the meantime the axis assembly 45 continues to move along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20 in the direction of the removal of the second pivoting element 67. Until the first blade section 41 and the second blade section 61 are maximally opened, the axis assembly 45 and the second pivoting element 67 are at their greatest distance apart, meaning that the force arm is at its longest and the resulting torque during cutting is relatively greater.
[0017] If the scissors, as in Fig. As shown in Figure 5, when cutting a branch with a relatively large diameter, the axis arrangement 45 and the second pivot element 67 have the longest distance between them, meaning that the force arm is longest to achieve the state of greatest torque. Therefore, the user can apply a relatively smaller force to cut a branch with a relatively larger diameter, resulting in a force-saving effect. When cutting the branch, the user applies force to the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 to close them inwards. As shown in Figure 5, the user applies force to the first handle 30 and the second handle 50 to close them inwards. Fig. 5 to Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the axis arrangement 45 is first moved along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20 in the direction of approaching the second pivoting element 67 and then in the direction of leaving the second pivoting element 67, so that the first blade section 41 and the second blade section 61 are completely closed to achieve the goal of cutting the branch.
[0018] Accordingly, the present invention provides a garden shear with a power-saving design, which has the technical feature that the axis arrangement 45, which moves along the elongated groove 21 of the shaft 20, can change the torque generated by the force exerted on the handles during operation in order to reduce the effort required by the user, thereby making it more convenient to use.
[0019] As in Fig.As shown in Figure 6, the primary structure of a garden shear 10' with a power-saving structure of a second preferred embodiment of the present invention is approximately the same as in the first preferred embodiment, but has the following difference.
[0020] The axle assembly 45' consists of a bolt 451', a bearing 453', and a washer 455'. The bolt 451' is inserted through the bearing 453' and the washer 455' and then fixed in a through-hole 431' of the first shaft section 43' at a point near the upper end of the first shaft section 43'. The outer diameter of the bearing 453' is slightly smaller than the width of the elongated groove 21', so that the bearing 453' can just barely be accommodated in the elongated groove 21', thereby achieving the effect of movement of the axle assembly 45' along the elongated groove 21' of the shaft 20'. Therefore, the axle assembly 45' is limited to the type provided in the preferred embodiments of the present invention. Furthermore, the arrangement of the bearing 453' is also effective in reducing wear during movement along the elongated groove 21' and makes the cutting process relatively smoother.
[0021] As a result, it can be seen that the second preferred embodiment of the present invention can not only achieve the effect of the movement of the axis arrangement along the elongated groove of the shaft in order to achieve the change in torque generated by the force exerted on the handles during operation in order to save the effort of the user, but can also reduce wear in order to increase the service life of the scissors of the present invention and to make the cutting process relatively smoother.
