Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a housing for a machine, a machine having such a housing, and a motor vehicle having such a machine.

[0002] There is a need to cool, temperature-control, and lubricate machines, particularly electrical machines, so that they can be operated as efficiently as possible. In the automotive sector, electrical machines are used as drive or traction machines. However, designing the most efficient cooling and lubrication system for such a drive machine is difficult because, due to predetermined packaging constraints, the installation space for the components of a cooling and / or lubricant circuit is limited. This often leads - particularly in the automotive sector - to the housing of an electric drive machine only being able to accommodate a particularly small-volume coolant / lubricant tank, which is why another coolant / lubricant tank has to be arranged elsewhere, as is proposed, for example, in DE 10 2020 007 6356 A1. In order to integrate both tanks into the cooling or lubricant circuit, a cooling and lubrication system must be provided. To integrate the auxiliary tanks into the lubricant circuit, especially to connect them together, it is necessary to construct a corresponding piping and / or hose system, possibly in conjunction with a valve system. However, this is particularly complex and also requires additional installation space, which further exacerbates the packaging problem. Furthermore, considerable effort is required to reliably protect the auxiliary tank against operational vibrations, which can cause unwanted noise during operation of the machine or vehicle and / or could damage the auxiliary tank.

[0003] It is the object of the invention to provide a particularly space-efficient, i.e. particularly compact, solution for particularly efficient lubrication and / or cooling of a machine.

[0004] This problem is solved by the subject matter of the independent claims. Further possible embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the subclaims, the description, and the figures. Features, advantages, and possible embodiments presented in the description for one of the subject matter of the independent claims are to be regarded, across categories and embodiments, at least analogously as features, advantages, and possible embodiments of the respective subject matter of the other independent claims, as well as any possible combination of the subject matter of the independent claims, optionally in conjunction with one or more of the subclaims.

[0005] According to the invention, a housing for a machine, a machine comprising the housing and a lubricant circuit, and a motor vehicle comprising the machine according to the invention are proposed. In the intended installation position, the housing forms a component of the machine, which is designed in particular as an electric machine. For example, the electric machine is a traction machine for the motor vehicle. If the machine or traction machine is installed in the motor vehicle in its intended installation position, it forms a component of the motor vehicle. Accordingly, the motor vehicle is in particular a purely electric or hybrid-electric motor vehicle.

[0006] The housing, which is designed in particular as a cast part, has a first shaft chamber through which a first shaft of the machine extends coaxially. The first shaft is designed, for example, as a first rotor shaft of the traction machine, wherein a first stator is then arranged in a rotationally fixed manner in the first shaft chamber, and the first rotor shaft extends coaxially through the first stator and consequently through the first shaft chamber. Outside the first shaft chamber, the housing has a first hollow housing interior, the inner wall of which is formed by a first wall portion of a shaft chamber outer wall and forms a primary lubricant tank of the housing. Since the first shaft chamber has a circular-cylindrical shape, its shaft chamber outer wall is at least partially cylindrical. The shaft chamber outer wall protrudes with its first wall portion into the first housing interior, which means that its inner wall encompasses the shaft chamber outer wall or is partially formed by it, namely by its first wall portion. Furthermore, the housing outside the first shaft chamber has a second hollow housing interior, the inner wall of which is formed by another, second wall portion of the same shaft chamber outer wall and forms a secondary lubricant tank of the housing. The shaft chamber outer wall protrudes with its second wall portion into the second housing interior, which means that its inner wall encompasses the same shaft chamber outer wall or is partially formed by it, namely by its second wall portion. The housing further has a housing transverse web arranged between the wall portions, by means of which the lubricant tanks are separated from one another. The housing crosspiece is, in particular, a stability or structural element of the housing. In particular, the shaft chamber and the housing crosspiece are formed integrally with one another, in particular manufactured jointly by means of a single primary forming process, for example, casting. The housing crosspiece is, in particular, designed as a plate-like body and would completely separate the lubricant tanks from one another in a plane between the first and second wall portions of the shaft chamber outer wall. However, the housing has a connecting arrangement penetrating the housing crosspiece, by means of which the lubricant tanks are or can be fluidically connected to one another. Taken together, the primary lubricant tank and the secondary lubricant tank represent a total lubricant tank of the housing that can be filled with a lubricant, for example, oil. The total lubricant tank is provided for a lubricant circuit of the machine. In the machine, the lubricant tank is therefore part of the lubricant circuit or is fluidly integrated into it.

[0007] Consequently, the available installation space in the machine housing is optimally utilized to ensure highly efficient lubrication of the machine. Previously unused or unnoticed space in the machine housing is utilized for the lubricant circuit, namely directly in the vicinity of an inverter or control compartment in which electronic components of a control or inverter unit are located. In particular, directly below the inverter or control compartment, conventional housings leave unused or non-functional installation space. Thanks to the present invention, such unused / non-functional installation space is now efficiently utilized, as the secondary lubricant tank is formed in the previously non-functional installation space. It is important to emphasize that the installation volume of the machine housing—prescribed particularly by packaging constraints—is not increased, yet the amount of lubricant used in the housing is significantly increased. It is particularly advantageous that, according to the invention, the housing is free of separately manufactured inserts, insert containers, or the like. Instead, to create the lubricant tanks, existing structures, contours, and surfaces of the housing are used as elements of the lubricant tanks in a very simple manner.

[0008] According to a possible further embodiment, the housing has one or more ventilation openings, wherein the respective ventilation opening (which can also be referred to as a pressure equalization opening) penetrates the inner wall of the second hollow housing interior. In this respect, the respective ventilation opening is arranged in the secondary lubricant tank. The respective ventilation opening is positionally arranged and designed such that it corresponds to an associated ventilation opening of a gearbox housing. Therefore, the secondary lubricant tank and a gearbox chamber enclosed by the gearbox housing communicate fluidically with each other when such a gearbox is flanged to the housing. This enables pressure equalization between the secondary lubricant tank and the gearbox chamber. The lubricant circuit of the accordingly equipped machine or machine-gearbox unit thus functions particularly efficiently. The machine-gearbox unit is designed in particular as a drive unit for the motor vehicle, i.e. as a structural unit comprising an electric drive motor and a single- or multi-stage, in particular switchable, gearbox directly flanged to it.

[0009] In a further possible embodiment, the connecting arrangement has one or more openings penetrating the housing crosspiece. A number of the openings and / or a geometry of the respective opening and / or a positional location of the respective opening on the housing crosspiece are / is specifically designed such that, when an acceleration acts on the housing, the lubricant does not flow from the secondary lubricant tank into the primary lubricant tank if this acceleration is greater than a predetermined limit acceleration and acts in a predetermined direction with respect to the housing. Consequently, when a different acceleration acts on the housing, the lubricant is allowed to flow from the secondary lubricant tank into the primary lubricant tank if this different acceleration is at most as strong as the predetermined limit acceleration and / or acts in a direction other than the predetermined one with respect to the housing.Particularly when the machine is used as a drive or traction machine for a motor vehicle, this allows, for example, the backflow of lubricant from the secondary lubricant tank to the primary lubricant tank and vice versa to be blocked or released depending on the driving conditions. For example, the connection arrangement can be specifically adapted to the requirements of the expected lateral acceleration of the motor vehicle equipped with the machine. This ensures a particularly reliable supply of lubricant to the machine.

[0010] According to a further possible embodiment, the connection arrangement comprises a valve device controllable by means of an electronic control unit, by means of which the flow of lubricant from the secondary lubricant tank into the primary lubricant tank can be controlled. In particular, the control unit of the valve device is coupled or can be coupled to an acceleration sensor and / or position sensor. For example, the machine or the unit in which the machine is installed, for example the motor vehicle, comprises an acceleration sensor and / or position sensor, which are / are coupled to the control unit of the valve device for sensor signal transmission. Thanks to the electronically controllable valve device, the return flow of lubricant from the secondary lubricant tank into the primary lubricant tank and vice versa can be controlled or regulated even more efficiently and precisely. The acceleration and / or position sensor enables accelerations acting on the machine or motor vehicle and a position within the space of the machine or motor vehicle to be detected particularly efficiently, whereby the valve device can be controlled even more precisely.

[0011] According to another possible embodiment, the housing has a separately manufactured secondary tank cap for the secondary lubricant tank, which is or can be attached to a cap opening edge of the secondary lubricant tank, wherein a sealing element can be arranged between the cap opening edge and the secondary tank cap. The sealing element can be arranged or placed in liquid or pasty form, after which it reacts to form a dimensionally stable sealing body. It is equally conceivable for the sealing element to be provided as an inherently stable sealing ring or as an inherently stable sealing disc. In particular, the secondary tank cap is clamped to the cap opening edge of the secondary lubricant tank, for which a screw connection, for example, is suitable.Alternatively or additionally, the lid opening edge of the secondary lubricant tank and the secondary tank lid can be connected to each other in a force-fitting, form-fitting, and / or material-fitting manner, for example by welding, gluing, etc. The sealing element allows the secondary lubricant tank to be closed or sealed particularly tightly by means of the secondary tank lid. In particular, the housing has a separately manufactured primary tank lid for the primary lubricant tank, which is or can be attached to a lid opening edge of the primary lubricant tank. The information provided for the secondary tank lid is directly applicable to the primary tank lid.

[0012] A further possible embodiment proposes that a line arrangement be embedded in a material body of the secondary tank cap and / or in a material body of a primary tank cap for the primary lubricant tank. The line arrangement comprises one or more line channels through which a fluid (gas and / or liquid), in particular the lubricant, can flow. The respective line channel can open at least on one side into the corresponding lubricant tank, so that such a line channel functions, for example, as an inflow channel or return flow channel for the machine's lubricant circuit. Alternatively or additionally, the line arrangement comprises one or more electrical conductors, such as busbars, cables, etc., and / or one or more hollow channel elements for such an electrical conductor. For example, an electrical conductor can be routed through such a channel element, which serves to supply operating power to a lubricant pump in the lubricant circuit. Alternatively or additionally, the line arrangement embedded in the cover(s) can have one or more line channels and / or one or more electrical conductors belonging to other systems of the unit into which the housing, in particular the machine comprising the housing, is installed. This allows for particularly efficient use of the limited available volume of the housing.

[0013] In a further possible embodiment, the housing has a second shaft chamber for a second shaft of the machine. The first shaft chamber, the second shaft chamber, and the housing crosspiece are formed integrally with one another, in particular by means of joint primary forming. The shaft chambers are spaced from one another along a transverse direction (y) of the housing via the housing crosspiece and are integrally connected to one another by means of the housing crosspiece. The inner wall of the first housing interior has a first wall portion of a shaft chamber outer wall of the second shaft chamber, and is therefore partially formed by the first wall portion of a shaft chamber outer wall of the second shaft chamber. The inner wall of the second housing interior has a second wall portion of the same shaft chamber outer wall of the second shaft chamber, and is therefore partially formed by the second wall portion of the shaft chamber outer wall of the second shaft chamber. In this respect, the total lubricant tank is formed in the transverse direction (y) of the housing between the two shaft chambers and is delimited or defined by the two shaft chambers, i.e. by their shaft chamber outer walls. A possible further development of the machine therefore applies that it is designed as a double machine, in particular as an electric double-rotor machine, which has a second shaft arranged in the second shaft chamber. The second shaft is designed, for example, as a second rotor shaft of the double-rotor machine, wherein a second stator is then arranged in a rotationally fixed manner in the second shaft chamber, and the second rotor shaft extends coaxially through the second stator and consequently through the second shaft chamber. The electric double-rotor machine is characterized in that it has the control device which is configured to control both rotor shafts.Due to the two rotor shafts combined with two stators, the electric double-rotor machine has a higher cooling / lubrication requirement than an electric machine with only a single stator-rotor unit. The housing of the double-rotor machine makes particularly efficient use of the available installation space, allowing for the advantageous use of a particularly large amount of lubricant in the housing.

[0014] Further features of the invention may emerge from the claims, the figures, and the description of the figures. The features and combinations of features mentioned above in the description, as well as the features and combinations of features shown below in the description of the figures and / or in the figures alone, can be used not only in the respective combinations specified, but also in other combinations or on their own, without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0015] The drawing shows: Fig. 1 is a schematic and sectional view of a machine whose housing has an integrated primary lubricant tank and an integrated secondary lubricant tank, Fig. 2 a schematic and sectional view of the machine in assembled condition and Fig. 3 a schematic and perspective view of the housing to which a gearbox housing is directly flanged.

[0016] In the following, a housing 1 for a machine 2, the machine 2, and a motor vehicle (not shown) comprising the machine 2 are explained in a joint description. In the figures, identical and functionally equivalent elements are provided with the same reference numerals.

[0017] According to the present example, the motor vehicle is designed as a purely electric or hybrid-electric motor vehicle and has the engine 2. This is therefore designed as an electric traction machine, in this case as an electric double-rotor machine. Both rotor-stator units 3 (only indicated in the figures) of the engine 2 are controllable by means of a common control device (not shown) of the engine 2.

[0018] Machine 2, designed as an electric double rotor machine, is in Fig. 1 in sectioned exploded view and in Fig. 2 is shown schematically in the assembled state. The machine 2 or the electric double-rotor machine has the housing 1 with an integrated total lubricant tank 4, which in the case of the machine 2 is fluidically integrated into its lubricant circuit. When the machine 2 is ready for use, the total lubricant tank 4 is filled with a lubricant and / or coolant, in this case oil. In the present case, the housing 1 has a first shaft chamber 5 and a second shaft chamber 6, in each of which one of the rotor-stator units 3 of the machine 2 is arranged. The respective rotor-stator unit 3 has a rotor shaft, so that in the machine 2 or double-rotor machine, one of the rotor shafts is arranged coaxially in one of the shaft chambers 5, 6. The housing 1 further has a first hollow housing interior 7 and a second hollow housing interior 8, which are each positionally arranged outside the shaft chambers 5, 6.In this respect, the shaft chambers 5, 6 are not to be confused with the housing interiors 7, 8. A first inner wall 9 of the first housing interior 7 is formed by a first wall portion 10a of a first cylindrical shaft chamber wall 10 of the first shaft chamber 5 and a first wall portion 11a of a second cylindrical shaft chamber wall 11 of the second shaft chamber 6. The primary lubricant tank 4a, i.e., its inner wall, is formed by the first inner wall 9. A second inner wall 12 of the second housing interior 8 is formed by a second wall portion 10b of the first cylindrical shaft chamber wall 10 and a second wall portion 11b of the second cylindrical shaft chamber wall 11. The secondary lubricant tank 4b, i.e., its inner wall, is formed by the second inner wall 12. The shaft chambers 5, 6 are spaced apart from one another along a transverse direction y of the housing 1 via a housing crosspiece 13.The housing crosspiece 13 is arranged along a vertical direction z of the housing 1 between the wall portions 10a, 10b and 11a, 11b, respectively, whereby the lubricant tanks 4a, 4b are separated from one another along the vertical direction z of the housing. In the present example, the shaft chambers 5, 6 and the housing crosspiece 13 are formed integrally with one another, in particular, manufactured jointly by means of a single primary forming process. The housing 1 has a connecting arrangement 14 penetrating the housing crosspiece 13, by means of which the lubricant tanks 4a, 4b are or can be fluidically connected to one another.

[0019] In Fig. 1 it can also be seen that the housing 1 has a ventilation opening 15 which penetrates the second inner wall 12 of the second hollow housing interior 8, specifically at a front wall portion 12a of the second inner wall 12. The ventilation opening 15 is positionally arranged and designed such that it corresponds to an associated ventilation opening 16 of a gear housing 17. Fig. Figure 3 shows a schematic perspective view of the machine 2, to which the gear housing 17 is directly flanged. Only the housing 1 and rotor-stator units 3 of the machine 2 are shown. It can be seen that the ventilation openings 15, 16 are axially aligned, allowing the secondary lubricant tank 4b and a gear chamber enclosed by the gear housing 17 to communicate fluidly with each other when or as soon as the gear housing 17 and the housing 1 are flanged together. This enables pressure equalization between the secondary lubricant tank 4b and the gear chamber.

[0020] The connecting arrangement 14 has an opening 18 or—as in this example—a plurality of openings 18, each of which penetrates the housing crosspiece 13. The number of openings 18, the geometry of each opening 18, and the position of each opening 18 on the housing crosspiece 13 are specifically designed such that, when an acceleration acts on the housing 1, oil does not flow from the secondary lubricant tank 4b into the primary lubricant tank 4a if this acceleration is higher than a predetermined limit acceleration and acts in a predetermined direction with respect to the housing 1.Conversely, if a different acceleration acts on the housing, the oil is permitted to flow from the secondary lubricant tank 4b into the primary lubricant tank 4a if this different acceleration is at most as strong as the specified acceleration limit and / or acts in a direction other than the specified one with respect to the housing 1. Since the machine 2 is used here as a drive or traction machine for the motor vehicle, the targeted structural design of the openings 18 can, for example, influence a backflow of oil from the secondary lubricant tank 4b into the primary lubricant tank 4a and vice versa, depending on the driving condition. For example, the connection arrangement 14 can be specifically adapted to the driving dynamics requirements of the motor vehicle, in particular to the requirements of an expected lateral acceleration.

[0021] The connecting arrangement 14 alternatively or additionally comprises a valve device (not shown) controllable by an electronic control unit (not shown), by means of which the flow of oil from the secondary lubricant tank 4b into the primary lubricant tank 4a and vice versa can be controlled. In particular, the control unit of the valve device is or can be coupled to an acceleration sensor and a position sensor. For example, the motor vehicle comprises the acceleration sensor and the position sensor, which are coupled to the control unit of the valve device for sensor signal transmission.

[0022] It is Fig. 1 also shows that a cover 19, 20 is provided for each lubricant tank 4a, 4b, by means of which the corresponding lubricant tank 4a, 4b can be closed. Thus, in this example, the housing 1 comprises a primary tank cover 19 for the primary lubricant tank 4a and a secondary tank cover 20 for the secondary lubricant tank 4b. The secondary tank cover 20 can be fastened to a cover opening edge 21 of the secondary lubricant tank 4b, in this case via a screw connection having externally threaded screws 22 and corresponding internally threaded holes 23 on the cover opening edge 21. According to the present example, a sealing element 24 is arranged between the secondary tank cover 20 and the cover opening edge 21. Detail A in Fig. 1 shows that the sealing element 24 may have through holes 24a that correspond to the external threaded screws 22.

[0023] In Fig. 1 that a line arrangement 25 is embedded in a respective material body of the primary tank cover 19 and the secondary tank cover 20. The line arrangement 25 comprises a line element 26, here a plurality of such line elements 26, wherein the respective line element 26 is designed, for example, as a line channel through which a fluid can flow. The respective line channel can open at least on one side into the corresponding one of the lubricant tanks 4a, 4b, so that such a line channel functions, for example, as an inflow channel or return flow channel of the lubricant circuit of the machine 2. Alternatively or additionally, one or more of the line elements 26 can be designed as an electrical conductor, for example as a busbar, cable, etc. Furthermore, it is conceivable for one or more of the line elements 26 to be designed as a hollow channel element for such an electrical conductor. The channels formed in the cover 19, 20 orThe line arrangement 25 embedded in the covers 19, 20 may comprise one or more line elements 26 that belong to other systems, i.e., not to the machine 2. From . Fig. 1, for example, it is clear that the transmission housing 17 has line elements 27 that correspond in position and geometry to the line elements 26 of the housing 1 or the secondary tank cap 20. In particular, it is provided that the line elements 26, 27 are connected to one another in the intended installation position, in particular are fluidically connected to one another.

[0024] Further in Fig. 1 that a lubricant pump 28 is arranged in the main lubricant tank 4a, the intake and pressure sides 29 of which can be integrated or are integrated into the lubricant circuit via the line arrangement 25 of the primary tank cover 19. The primary tank cover 19 can be fastened to a cover opening edge 30 of the primary lubricant tank 4a, in this case via a further screw connection having externally threaded screws 31 and corresponding internally threaded holes 32 on the cover opening edge 30. A further sealing element can be arranged between the primary tank cover 19 and the cover opening edge 30.

[0025] It is in Fig. 1 further indicates a cover element 33 that separates the housing 1 and a control chamber area 34 from each other. The control chamber area 34 accommodates, in particular, the control device of the machine 2 and / or other components required for the intended operation of the machine 2.

[0026] The housing 1, the machine 2, and the motor vehicle illustrate a respective possibility for how cooling / lubrication for the machine 2 can be implemented in a particularly space-efficient and compact manner. The core idea of the invention is to create an oil or lubricant volume by utilizing previously non-functional areas or unused parts of the machine 2.
