Abstract

The invention relates to a pair of pliers and is applicable to manual work in industry as well as in everyday life. The pliers comprise two action levers (1, 2) with action surfaces (1a, 2a) that form the clamping jaws 1c and 2b of the pliers, wherein the two action levers (1, 2) are connected to each other via two rotatably mounted, parallel connecting levers (3, 4), and the connecting lever (4) has an actuating extension (4a) and the action lever (1) has an actuating element (1b). These together form a four-bar linkage or parallelogram mechanism. This makes operating the pliers much more convenient, as the jaws of the tool come together parallel, i.e., in a straight line like a vise, and the angle between the jaws does not change, regardless of the width of the opening.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to a pair of pliers and is applicable to manual work in industry as well as in everyday life.

[0002] A preferred application area of the invention is the clamping of workpieces.

[0003] Pliers have long been known in a wide variety of designs.

[0004] The pliers known from the prior art have two levers, with handles at one end and clamping jaws at the other. The two levers are connected by a connecting element, for example a screw or a pin, which is designed such that the two levers are movably mounted and, when actuated, first move away from each other to open the pliers and then towards each other to perform the clamping or clamping operation.

[0005] The main constructive difference between the pliers according to the invention and conventional pliers or even a four-joint pliers of the locking pliers type is that the jaws are located on the opposite, i.e., non-adhering, links of the four-joint system.

[0006] The invention is based on the objective of creating pliers that are easy and inexpensive to manufacture and can be operated easily and conveniently.

[0007] This problem is solved by the features in claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are contained in the dependent claims.

[0008] A particular advantage of the invention lies in its convenient handling, wherein the clamping jaws of the pliers according to the invention are moved towards each other in a straight line, i.e., without rotation, and the pliers comprise two action levers with action surfaces, wherein the two action levers are connected to each other via two rotatably mounted connecting levers, preferably arranged parallel to each other, and the front connecting lever has an actuating extension.

[0009] An additional advantage of the invention results from the fact that, due to the inventive design, the angle and thus the clamping force between the action surfaces does not change over the entire length of the clamping jaws arranged on the action surfaces.

[0010] This makes operating the pliers much more convenient, as the jaws of the tool come together parallel, i.e., in a straight line like a vise, and the angle between the jaws does not change, regardless of the width of the opening.

[0011] The advantages of the invention compared to the known design of the parallel pliers are that it does not contain any sliding bars, which makes it simpler, stronger and more stable.

[0012] Further advantages of the pliers according to the invention are that the two action levers and the two connecting levers form a four-bar linkage mechanism, and that the four-bar linkage mechanism is designed as a parallelogram mechanism. It is also advantageous that when the actuating extension is actuated, the position of the first action lever remains unchanged, while the position of the second action lever moves towards the first action lever, and thus the clamping jaws also move towards each other. The clamping jaws are arranged on the action surfaces on the opposing links of the four-bar linkage mechanism.

[0013] The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments illustrated at least partially in the figures. The figures show: Fig. 1 the pliers according to the invention in the open state Fig. 2 the pliers according to the invention in the closed state

[0014] Fig. Figure 1 shows the pliers according to the invention in the open state, i.e. before the clamping or clamping process is carried out.

[0015] The pliers comprise two action levers: a first action lever 1 and a second action lever 2. Action levers 1 and 2, in turn, have action surfaces 1a and 2a, which form the clamping jaws 1c and 2b of the pliers. The two action levers 1 and 2 are connected to each other by two rotatably mounted, parallel connecting levers 3 and 4. Connecting lever 4 has an angled actuating extension 4a, which allows for easy operation and thus accomplishes the clamping process.

[0016] Fig. Figure 2 now shows the pliers according to the invention in the closed state, i.e. after the clamping process has been carried out.

[0017] During the clamping process, the second action lever 2 moved from below towards action lever 1, and the clamping jaws 1c and 2b, arranged on action levers 1 and 2, moved towards each other and performed the clamping or clamping operation. Action lever 1 did not change its position, the two connecting levers 3 and 4 assumed an inclined position, and the actuating extension 4a now lies parallel to the actuating part 1b of action lever 1.

[0018] The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown. Rather, it is possible to realize further embodiments by combining and varying the means and features shown, without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims

[1] Pliers comprising two action levers (1, 2) with action surfaces (1a, 2a), wherein the two action levers (1, 2) are connected to one another via two rotatably mounted connecting levers (3, 4) and the connecting lever (4) has an actuating extension (4a) and the action lever (1) has an actuating part (1b). [2] Pliers according to claim 1, characterized by that the two action levers (1, 2) and the two connecting levers (3, 4) form a four-bar mechanism. [3] Pliers according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that the clamping jaws (1c, 2b) are arranged on the action surfaces (1a, 2a) on the opposite links of the four-bar mechanism. [4] Pliers according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that the four-bar mechanism is designed as a parallelogram mechanism. [5] Pliers according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the action surfaces (1a, 2a) are moved towards each other in a straight line when the actuating extension (4a) is actuated. [6] Pliers according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that the angle and thus the clamping force between the action surfaces (1a, 2a) does not change over the entire length of the clamping jaws (1c, 2b) arranged on the action surfaces (1a, 2a). [7] Pliers according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that when the actuating extension (4a) is actuated, the position of the action lever (1) with the actuating part (1b) remains unchanged, while the position of the action lever (2) moves towards the action lever (1) and the clamping jaws (1c, 2b) move towards each other.
