Abstract
Description
Technical area
[0001] Example embodiments of the disclosure relate to a vehicle braking device, and more particularly to a vehicle braking device capable of controlling fluid pressure acting on a wheel of a vehicle. background
[0002] In general, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) for vehicles detects wheel slippage and controls the amount of brake pressure applied to the wheel, preventing the wheel from locking during braking. This ensures that the wheel does not spin and maintains its direction during braking for safe braking.
[0003] ABS is used in combination as a component of a vehicle dynamics control system or electronic stability control (ESC). ESC is a control device that allows the driver to stay in lane without losing the ability to steer the vehicle when suddenly turning the steering wheel or driving on a winding road.
[0004] An electronic braking system for vehicles includes multiple solenoid valves configured to open and close a passage of a hydraulic brake line to control brake pressure. Examples of solenoid valves include a normally open solenoid valve, which normally remains open, and a normally closed solenoid valve, which normally remains closed.
[0005] The related art of the disclosure is disclosed in Korean Patent No. 10-2553467 (published on July 10, 2023, entitled “NORMALLY OPEN SOLENOID VALVE APPLIED TO AUTOMOBILE BRAKE SYSTEM”). Summary
[0006] Various embodiments relate to a vehicle braking device capable of blocking fluid pressure acting in both directions of a master cylinder and a wheel cylinder.
[0007] In one embodiment, a vehicle braking device is provided, comprising: a pump housing having an inlet and an outlet through which a fluid flows; a valve body inserted into and fixed to the pump housing; a piston positioned in the valve body and configured to be moved by an armature; a seat installed within the valve body and having a through-hole through which the fluid passes, the seat being configured to block a flow of the fluid when positioned in contact with the piston; a flow path formed between the seat and the valve body through which the fluid flows; an elastic member interposed between the seat and the piston and configured to elastically support the piston;and a sealing member press-fitted into the pump housing and the seat and having a passage through which the fluid flows, the valve body being seated on the sealing member;
[0008] The sealing member may comprise: a first sealing member having a first communication passage positioned in fluid communication with the outlet, and a first opening extending through an outer surface of the first sealing member and positioned in fluid communication with the through-hole; and a second sealing member provided on an outer surface of the first sealing member and surrounding the first sealing member, the second sealing member having a second communication passage positioned in fluid communication with the flow path.
[0009] The first sealing element may be press-fitted into the seat; and the second sealing element is press-fitted into the pump housing, with the valve body sitting on the second sealing element.
[0010] An upper end of the first sealing member may extend further toward the piston than an upper end of the second sealing member.
[0011] The second sealing member may comprise: a first extension extending from a lower end of the first sealing member in a radial direction of the first sealing member; and a second extension extending from an outer end of the first extension and in a longitudinal direction of the first sealing member, the second extension having at least one second opening in fluid communication with the inlet.
[0012] The at least one second opening may include a plurality of second openings spaced apart from one another around a circumference of the second extension.
[0013] The at least one second opening may include a through hole extending through the second extension.
[0014] The at least one second opening may have a step portion recessed from a top edge of the second extension.

[0019] Hereinafter, a vehicle braking device according to embodiments of the disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Note that the thickness of each line or the size of each component in the drawings may be exaggerated for the sake of clear and convenient description. Furthermore, the terms used herein are defined in light of the features of the disclosure, and these terms may change depending on the intention or practice of a user or operator. Therefore, these terms should be defined based on the entirety of the disclosure presented herein.
[0020] Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a vehicle braking device according to a first embodiment of the disclosure. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a sealing part of the vehicle brake device according to the first embodiment of the disclosure.
[0021] With reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the vehicle brake device according to the first embodiment of the disclosure includes: a pump housing 100, a valve body 200, a piston 300, a seat 400, a flow path 500, an elastic member 600, and a sealing member 700, which will be described in more detail below.
[0022] The pump housing 100 has an inlet 110 and an outlet 120 through which a fluid flows. In other words, the inlet 110, which corresponds to a passage through which a fluid is introduced, and the outlet 120, which corresponds to a passage through which a fluid is discharged, can be formed in the pump housing 100.
[0023] Receiving grooves may be cut and machined into the pump housing 100 at the point where the inlet 110 and the outlet 120 intersect to accommodate the components of the vehicle braking device according to the embodiment of the disclosure. The inlet 110 may be connected to a master cylinder (not shown), and the outlet 120 may be connected to a wheel cylinder (not shown).
[0024] The passage leading from the inlet 110 to the outlet 120 is a passage through which a hydraulic brake pressure is transmitted via a pump to a wheel of a vehicle when there is a risk of unexpected rotation of the vehicle on an icy road or the like, ie when an ESC function is activated.
[0025] The vehicle brake device according to the embodiment of the disclosure may include a normally-open solenoid valve that closes a passage by electromagnetic force when a current is applied to the solenoid valve.
[0026] The valve body 200 is partially inserted into and fixed to the pump housing 100. In other words, the valve body 200 can be fixed to one side thereof (bottom in Fig. 1) be pressed into the pump housing 100 and connected to the pump housing 100 by notching or the like.
[0027] For convenience of explanation, the valve body 200 is shown perpendicular to the pump housing 100 and in axial communication therewith.
[0028] The piston 300 is housed within the valve body 200. The piston 300 is actuated by an armature 800 to reciprocate in the axial direction of the valve body 200. The piston 300 may include a piston body 300a and a ball element 310. A ball element 310 may be provided at one end (lower end in Fig. 1) of the piston body 300a.
[0029] The vehicle braking device may include a sleeve 900 configured to surround the armature 800 and extend toward the pump housing 100 with a predetermined length to surround a portion of the valve body 200.
[0030] The piston 300 moves back and forth in the valve body 200 by the resultant force of the electromagnetic force generated by the armature 800, the elastic force of the elastic member 600 and the pressure of fluid flowing through the seat 400.
[0031] The electromagnetic force generated by the armature 800 acts on the piston 300 in the downward direction in Fig. 1. The pressure of fluid introduced through the seat 400 acts on the piston 300 in the upward direction in Fig. 1. The elastic force of the elastic member 600 acts on the piston 300 in the upward direction in Fig. 1.
[0032] Of these forces acting on the piston 300, the electromagnetic force generated by the armature 800 varies with the strength of the externally applied current. Thus, the movement of the piston 300 can be controlled by adjusting the strength of the applied current.
[0033] The seat 400 is arranged within the pump housing 100 and installed within the valve body 200. In other words, the seat 400 can be installed in a cavity on one side (bottom in Fig. 1) of the valve body 200.
[0034] The seat 400 is located on one side (bottom in Fig. 1) of the piston 300. The seat 400 has a through-hole 410 through which a fluid flows. The through-hole 410 is defined by the outer surface facing the piston 300 (upper surface in Fig. 1) of the seat 400.
[0035] The seat 400 selectively blocks fluid flow by contacting the piston 300. The ball element 310, provided at the end of the piston body 300a toward the seat 400, comes into contact with or breaks contact with the through-hole 410 of the seat 400 while moving together with the piston body 300a under the electromagnetic force of the armature 800, opening or closing the through-hole 410. In other words, when the piston body 300a moves toward the seat 400, the ball element 310 comes into contact with the seat 400 to block fluid flow through the seat 400.
[0036] The flow path 500 is formed between the seat 400 and the valve body 200. A fluid flows through the flow path 500. The flow path 500 can be formed within the valve body 200 and can serve to direct the fluid flow such that the fluid introduced via the inlet 110 can flow toward the through-opening 410 of the seat 400.
[0037] The elastic member 600 is interposed between the seat 400 and the piston 300 to elastically support the piston 300. One side of the elastic member 600 sits on the seat 400, and the other side of the elastic member 600 sits on the piston 300 to exert an elastic force on the piston 300. The elastic member 600 may be an elastically deformable coil spring.
[0038] When the armature 800 is not actuated due to a lack of magnetic force, the through hole 410 of the seat 400 is always open as a normally open hole to allow unobstructed fluid movement. This means that the fluid flows freely toward the inlet 110 and outlet 120.
[0039] The seal member 700 is press-fitted into the pump housing 100 and the seat 400, and the valve body 200 sits on the seal member 700. The seal member 700 forms a passage through which a fluid flows. The seal member 700 can be made of a metal material and manufactured by forging or pressing.
[0040] The sealing member 700 can block the fluid pressure in both directions of the inlet 110 and the outlet 120 when the piston 300 is actuated and can prevent the fluid from leaking out. The sealing member 700 can include a first sealing element 710 and a second sealing element 720.
[0041] The first sealing element 710 may have the shape of a cavity and a first communication passage 711 provided therein to communicate with the outlet 120. The outer surface (upper surface in Fig. 1) of the first sealing element 710 may be provided with a first opening 712 communicating with the through hole 410 of the seat 400.
[0042] The first sealing element 710 may be press-fitted into the seat 400. In other words, the upper portion of the first sealing element 710 may be press-fitted upward into the seat 400, so that the position of the first sealing element 710 is fixed by the seat 400.
[0043] The second sealing element 720 may be provided on the outside of the first sealing element 710 and configured to surround the periphery of the first sealing element 710. The second sealing element 720 may be integrally formed with the first sealing element 710 and spaced apart from the first sealing element 710.
[0044] The second sealing member 720 may have the shape of a cavity and a second communication passage 720a provided therein to communicate with the flow path 500.
[0045] The second sealing element 720 can be press-fitted into the pump housing 100, so that the position of the second sealing element 720 is fixed by the pump housing 100. Furthermore, the valve body 200 can sit on the upper edge of the second sealing element 720, so that the second sealing element 720 is held in place by the valve body 200.
[0046] The second sealing element 720 may include a first extension 721 and a second extension 722. The first extension 721 may be bent from the end of the first sealing element 710 and extend in the radial direction of the first sealing element 710.
[0047] The second extension 722 may be bent from the end of the first extension 721 and extend in the longitudinal direction of the first sealing element 710. The second extension 722 may be provided with a second opening 723 that communicates with the inlet 110. A fluid may flow to the inlet 110 and the second communication passage 720a of the second sealing element 720 via the second opening 723.
[0048] The second opening 723 may consist of a plurality of second openings spaced apart in the circumferential direction of the second extension 722. The second openings 723 may each have a through-hole 723a formed through the outer surface of the second extension 722. An upper end of the first sealing member 710 protrudes further toward the piston 300 than an upper end of the second sealing member 720.
[0049] Furthermore, the vehicle braking device according to the first embodiment of the disclosure may include a first filter 1000 and a second filter 1100.
[0050] The first filter 1000 may be interposed between the inlet 110 and the second sealing member 720 to filter a fluid. The first filter 1000 may filter foreign matter contained in the fluid flowing through the inlet 110 to the second opening 723 of the second sealing member 720 or flowing through the second opening 723 to the inlet 110.
[0051] The second filter 1100 may be disposed between the outlet 120 and the sealing member 700 to filter a fluid. The second filter 1100 may filter foreign matter contained in the fluid flowing to the outlet 120 via the first communication passage 711 of the first sealing member 710 or flowing to the first communication passage 711 via the outlet 120.
[0052] Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of a vehicle braking device according to a second embodiment of the disclosure. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a sealing part of the vehicle brake device according to the second embodiment of the disclosure.
[0053] With reference to Fig. 3 and Fig. 4, the vehicle braking device according to the second embodiment of the disclosure is substantially similar to that according to the first embodiment, with the sole exception of a shape of a second opening 723 provided in a second extension 722. Therefore, like reference numerals are assigned to like components, and their description is omitted.
[0054] The second opening 723 may have a stepped portion 723b recessed from the edge of the second extension 722. The second opening 723 may be formed on the upper edge of the second extension 722, on which the valve body 200 sits and which comes into contact with the lower end of the valve body 200. For example, the second opening 723 may be chamfered by cutting and machining.
[0055] The second opening 723 may be stepped on the edge of the second extension 722 to form a gap communicating with the inlet 110 between the second extension 722 and the valve body 200. Fluid may flow to the inlet 110 and the second communication passage 720a of the second sealing member 720 via the second opening 723. The second opening 723 may consist of a plurality of second openings spaced apart in the circumferential direction of the second extension 722.
[0056] The vehicle brake device according to the embodiments of the disclosure provides the seal member 700 press-fitted into the pump housing 100 and the seat 400 and retained by the valve body 200 to fix the position of the seal member 700, which can block the fluid pressure acting in both directions of the inlet 110 and the outlet 120 during the actuation of the piston 300 and prevent the fluid from leaking out.
[0057] The vehicle brake device according to the embodiments of the disclosure can reduce material costs by eliminating multiple machining processes by simplifying the shape of the seal part 700.
[0058] The embodiment of the disclosure is described by way of example only with reference to the drawings. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications may be made to the embodiment and that various equivalents thereof may be realized. Therefore, the technical scope of the disclosure is determined by the following claims. QUOTES CONTAINED IN THE DESCRIPTION
