Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a measuring device and a method for detecting a measured value for a diameter of a railway wheel by means of the measuring device.
[0002] Wheels on rail vehicles are subject to wear during operation. They wear down, which can lead to a reduction in their diameter and a change in their profile. For safety reasons, wheel diameters that are too small or excessively different are to be avoided (risk of vehicle derailment). For this reason, wheel diameters are checked regularly using measuring instruments during vehicle inspections to monitor wear and predict future wear.
[0003] Most known wheel diameter measuring devices are designed for use in a workshop pit. For wheel diameter measurements outside of a depot with a pit, only a few measuring instruments on the market can be used to perform the corresponding measurement on the side of the rail vehicle. These can be complex in design and are usually not designed for mobile outdoor use under changing weather conditions. Designed as precision instruments, they are expensive.
[0004] The invention is based on the object of providing a simple measuring device for determining the diameter of a railway wheel.
[0005] The problem is solved by the subject matter of the independent patent claims. Further developments and refinements of the invention are found in the features of the dependent patent claims.
[0006] A measuring means according to the invention, in particular a measuring device, in particular a measuring instrument, for detecting a measured value for a diameter of a railway wheel comprises a yoke, in particular a U-shaped yoke, with a first leg and a second leg and a base connecting the first and second legs. The measuring instrument is designed to accommodate at least one wheel rim of the railway wheel between the first and second legs. Furthermore, the measuring instrument comprises a slide, which is arranged displaceably along the first leg, and a fastening means for releasably connecting the measuring instrument to a wheel back of the railway wheel, as well as a stop for contact with a running surface of the railway wheel.
[0007] The measuring device is used to record a measured value for determining the diameter of a railway wheel, in particular a railway wheel of a specified type. The diameter of the railway wheel can be determined based on the measured value recorded by the measuring device.
[0008] The measuring device can be designed accordingly to record measured values for a profile thickness or a thickness of a running surface of the railway wheel, in particular at a measuring circle specified for the railway wheel, and to derive a diameter of the railway wheel from the recorded measured values, in particular the so-called measuring circle diameter.
[0009] For this purpose, the measuring device can be adapted to the specified type of railway wheel. Railway wheels of a specified type are suitable for a specified rail vehicle, i.e., for a rail vehicle of a specified type.
[0010] According to one embodiment of the invention, the yoke is U-shaped. The first and second legs are arranged parallel to one another and perpendicular to the base and are in particular firmly connected to the base. The first and second legs are in particular rigidly arranged on the base. The U-shaped yoke formed from the base, the first and second legs is advantageously rigid. In particular, the first and second legs are connected to the base without any joints; in particular, the yoke is monolithic, for example, made from a single cast element. The first and second legs point away from the base in the same direction and are designed to accommodate at least one wheel rim of the railway wheel, in particular comprising at least one tread and a wheel flange, between them.
[0011] According to a further development of the invention, the fastening means is arranged on the second leg.
[0012] According to a further development, the stop is arranged on the base. It faces, in particular, the opening of the yoke, which is defined by the legs, and is therefore arranged on the same side of the base as the first and second legs. It can be fixedly arranged at a predetermined location on the base in order to engage the running surface of the railway wheel at a predetermined measuring circle of the specified type.
[0013] The slider is arranged on the first leg and is designed to be movable relative to the first leg. In a further development, the first leg has a periodically arranged structure that serves to detect a measured value by means of the slider. The periodically arranged structure can be a periodically arranged pattern or a visible surface pattern that serves to detect a measured value, in particular by means of a pointing device or a display device of the slider.
[0014] A visible surface pattern can be an analog (measuring) scale that is readable by a human user, in particular a vernier scale that forms a scale together with a correspondingly designed slide. The periodically arranged structure can serve for complementary evaluation electronics in the slide. For example, calipers with a display, for example a digital display, on a slide are known. These use so-called linear encoders, in particular capacitive or inductive linear encoders. One part of the sensor is mounted in the movable slide below the display. The second part, the periodic structure, of the sensor is fixedly arranged in the first leg. It represents electrical conductors that essentially form the plates of capacitors, the so-called stator. In this case, the caliper includes appropriate evaluation electronics and an output unit, such as a display or a communications interface. Analog calipers with racks as a periodic structure and a circular scale on the caliper are also known, as is a length and position measuring device based on magnetic fields.
[0015] A predefined line or point, for example, the vertex of a slot of a wedge-shaped slotted slide, or a surface or edge of the slide can serve as the pointing device or indicator of the slide for reading the scale on the first leg. As already explained, the slide can advantageously have a vernier scale complementary to the periodic structure on the first leg. Thus, the slide has an additional scale, in this case a so-called vernier scale, with the periodic structure formed as a scale on the first leg serving as the main scale for the joint formation of a vernier scale.
[0016] According to a further development, the slider is designed such that it at least partially encloses the first leg and / or at least partially projects beyond an inner side of the first leg facing the second leg.
[0017] The slide can also be U-shaped, with the first leg of the yoke being received in the opening of the U-shaped slide and thus partially enclosed. The slide can also be frame-shaped, for example, with a rectangular base, and completely enclose the first leg of the yoke.
[0018] In a further development, the slider comprises at least one locking element for engaging a wear groove of the railway wheel. The wear groove, also called an indicator groove or wear groove, is incorporated into a front, outward-facing end face of the railway wheel and indicates when the wear limit has been reached. A wheel flange is arranged on the opposite, inward-facing end face of the railway wheel, which is referred to as the wheel back. The geometry of the slider, in particular of the locking element, can be adapted to the diameter and profile of the wear groove of the railway wheel of the specified type.
[0019] The locking element is advantageously oriented toward the second leg of the yoke. It can comprise one locking pin or, in particular, two locking pins, which are arranged, for example, on each end face of the legs of the U-shaped slider, and point toward the second leg of the yoke and are designed to engage the wear groove of the railway wheel, in particular complementary to the wear groove, in particular to a profile of the wear groove, of the railway wheel of the specified type.
[0020] The locking pins can be arranged rigidly on the slider or they can be spring-loaded or elastic, so that when the slider is moved along the first leg they slide over the front side of the railway wheel and are pushed in against their preload and when the wear groove is reached they are pushed out into the wear groove by the preload and engage in the wear groove.
[0021] In addition to locking the slider to the railway wheel and thus also securing the slider to the first leg of the yoke, the locking pins can serve as a measuring tip or sensor. The measuring device then records a measured value for the distance from the wear groove to the running surface of the railway wheel on a predetermined measuring circle for the railway wheel in order to determine the diameter of the railway wheel depending on the predetermined, known type of railway wheel. For each type of railway wheel, a distance between the wear groove and a wheel center point or a rotational or longitudinal axis of the railway wheel can be specified. A minimum distance between the wear groove and the running surface of the railway wheel on the predetermined measuring circle is also usually specified. If this minimum distance is not yet reached, the running surface can be turned.
[0022] Alternatively, the first leg of the yoke can extend to the wheel hub, and the slider can be placed on the rotational or longitudinal axis of the railway wheel to directly indicate the actual diameter of the wheel. The first and second legs of the yoke are not necessarily the same length. This design would have the advantage that the diameter would need to be measured rather than determined, and that it would allow the diameters of several railway wheels of different types to be measured.
[0023] According to a further development, the slider comprises at least one magnet for releasably connecting the slider to a front side of the railway wheel, in particular to a front side of the running surface of the railway wheel. The slider is attached to the front side of the railway wheel by means of magnetism. The magnet is aligned toward the second leg of the yoke.
[0024] According to a further development, the fastening means of the measuring device comprises at least one magnet for releasably connecting the measuring device to the back of the railway wheel. Thus, the measuring device is releasably fastened to the back of the railway wheel by means of magnetism. As already explained above, the fastening means is preferably arranged on the second leg of the yoke. The magnet, in turn, points towards the first leg of the yoke and can be arranged on an inner side of the second leg facing the first leg. The fastening means, in particular, secures the measuring device against rotation along the circumference or tangentially to the running surface of the railway wheel and / or orthogonally to the running surface.
[0025] In a further development, the first leg and the second leg, in particular the mutually facing inner sides of the legs of the yoke, for receiving at least the wheel rim of the railway wheel between the legs, have a distance from one another which is at least the sum of a predetermined wheel rim width of the railway wheel and a width of the overlap permissible for the railway wheel.
[0026] A maximum permissible over-roll is specified for each railway wheel. If this limit is exceeded, it must be removed, specifically machined. The measuring device is designed so that the railway wheel, at least partially, in particular at least the wheel rim, can be inserted between the legs of the yoke into the yoke.
[0027] According to one embodiment, the distance between the two legs is adapted to the railway wheel of a given type and is dimensioned such that it is the sum of a given wheel rim width of the railway wheel and a width of the overlap permissible for the railway wheel.
[0028] The distance is therefore exactly the specified rim width for the given model of railway wheel plus the permissible overlap for the given model of railway wheel. The measuring device thus acts as a gauge for the overlap. If the measuring device can still be moved over the railway wheel, the permissible overlap has not yet been reached. However, if it gets stuck on the overlap during the test, the overlap exceeds the maximum value.
[0029] According to a further development, the slide or a second slide arranged displaceably along the first leg has a second scale, particularly aligned parallel to the base, for measuring the over-rolling, in particular the width of the over-rolling, of the railway wheel. When the measuring device is properly aligned, the scale on the first leg of the yoke runs vertically, and the second scale on the slide or the second slide runs horizontally. The second scale serves to measure the over-rolling and thus whether the over-rolling is still within the specified maximum dimension.
[0030] According to a further development, the stop has a measuring head, in particular a partially spherical one, for contact with the running surface of the railway wheel, in particular at the predetermined measuring circle, which is arranged on the base via a bolt. The bolt extends from the base, in particular parallel to the first and / or second leg in the direction of the latter. The measuring head thus points toward the opening of the yoke. A partially spherical measuring head is also called a spherical head. Its tip is designed to contact the running surface of the railway wheel.
[0031] According to one embodiment, the stop is firmly connected to the base and has a fixed, predetermined distance greater than zero to the second leg, in particular to the inside of the second leg. The bolt with the measuring head can be firmly connected to the base. The distance to the second leg is matched to the railway wheel of a specified type and dimensioned such that it corresponds to a predetermined distance of the wheel back to a specified measuring circle plane of the railway wheel. This maps the measuring circle normatively defined for the railway wheel of the specified type, a defined distance to the wheel back against which the second leg rests. In addition, the stop, in particular its measuring head, can have a predetermined distance greater than zero to the base, in particular to an inside of the base facing the opening of the yoke. The length of the bolt with the measuring head and thus the distance of the stop to the base can be fixed. The distance between the stop and the base is matched to the specified type of railway wheel and dimensioned such that it is at least the sum of the specified flange height of the railway wheel and the permissible wheel flange rounding for the railway wheel, also known as wheel flange flank wear. In one design, the distance between the stop and the base corresponds exactly to the sum of the specified flange height for the railway wheel and the permissible wheel flange rounding for the railway wheel. The measuring device thus forms a gauge for the wheel flange rounding. If the measuring device can still be guided over the railway wheel, attached to the back of the wheel using the fastener, and the stop can be brought into contact with the specified measuring circle on the running surface of the railway wheel, the permissible wheel flange rounding has not yet been achieved. If this is no longer possible, the maximum dimension has been exceeded.
[0032] According to an alternative embodiment, the stop is arranged so as to be displaceable along the base and / or the stop is designed to be adjustable relative to the base so that a distance between the base and the stop is adjustable. The distance between the base, in particular to an inner side of the base facing the opening of the yoke, and the stop, in particular the measuring head, is adjustable, in particular via a bolt whose length is adjustable, for example a telescopically adjustable bolt. This embodiment would have the advantage that several railway wheels of different types can be measured with the measuring device. The adjustable distance between the stop and the second leg means that different measuring circles can be set and thus different railway wheels can be covered. Likewise, different specifications for the maximum permissible wheel flange rounding can be mapped orEven an excess can be ignored because the measuring device itself is suitable for measuring the measured value for the diameter when the wheel flange rounding is exceeded, since this can be overcome via the adjustable distance between the stop and the base.
[0033] A method according to the invention for determining a diameter of a railway wheel, in particular a railway wheel of a given type, by means of the measuring device according to the invention comprises the following method steps: a. Place the measuring device on the railway wheel and align the measuring device on the railway wheel so that - at least one wheel rim of the railway wheel is accommodated between a first leg and a second leg of the measuring device; - the second leg of the measuring device rests against the back of the railway wheel; - a stop of the measuring instrument on a running surface of the railway wheel rests on a given measuring circle plane of the railway wheel; b. Moving a slider arranged on the first leg of the measuring device along the first leg of the measuring device; c. Recording a measurement result depending on the position of the slider relative to the first leg of the measuring device.
[0034] The recording of the measurement result according to method step c. can comprise a simple reading of the measurement result on a scale arranged on the first leg.
[0035] As already explained above, the measuring device can be used to measure the diameter or to record a measurement value representing the diameter of the railway wheel. Therefore, process step c. can be followed by: - Determining the diameter of the railway wheel of a given type depending on the recorded measurement result.
[0036] Further training follows process step a. and precedes process step b.: - detachable fastening of a fastening device arranged on the second leg of the measuring device to the back of the railway wheel.
[0037] If the stop is designed to be adjustable, i.e. if its distance from the second leg and / or the base is adjustable, the stop can first be adjusted to the specified measuring circle level before it is placed on the running surface of the railway wheel.
[0038] According to a further development of the method, method step b comprises moving the slide, which is arranged displaceably on the first leg of the measuring device, along the first leg of the measuring device until it reaches a wear groove of the railway wheel. This can be immediately followed and preceded by method step c, by locking the slide in the wear groove by means of the at least one locking element, for example by engaging locking pins in the wear groove. According to this exemplary embodiment, the slide is moved along the first leg of the measuring device until the locking pins engage in the wear groove.
[0039] The invention offers many advantages. The measuring device represents a comparatively inexpensive means for determining the wheel diameter of a railway wheel. It can be transported and used manually, thus offering flexible application possibilities. It is also a robust, weather-resistant measuring device, particularly without electronics or batteries, making it suitable for harsh working environments. Furthermore, it is easy to calibrate and can be used even in confined spaces. This allows for measurements without the need for a pit for the rail vehicle to which the railway wheel in question is mounted. Furthermore, the rollover and / or the flange rounding can be determined with a single measuring device.
[0040] The invention permits numerous embodiments. It is explained in more detail with reference to the following figures, each of which illustrates an exemplary embodiment. Identical elements in the figures are provided with the same reference numerals. Fig. 1 shows schematically a railway wheel in an oblique view of the railway wheel with a measuring device according to the invention attached to it, Fig. 2 shows a partial view of the Fig. 1 in a view perpendicular to the running surface of the railway wheel, Fig. 3 shows the measuring device Fig. 1 in a detailed view, Fig. Figure 4 shows a schematic partial section of a railway wheel.
[0041] In Fig. 1 and Fig. Figure 2 shows an embodiment of a measuring device 1 according to the invention in use and in the intended orientation on a railway wheel 10. Therefore, the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. Terms relating to railway wheel 10 are used, the meaning of which is explained in Fig. 4 is illustrated.
[0042] The measuring device 1 comprises a yoke with a base 4, a first leg 2, and a second leg 3, which are arranged on the base 4 and extend parallel to each other, U-shaped, from the base 4. The legs 2 and 3 are not of equal length and therefore do not form a true "U."
[0043] The second leg 3 rests against a wheel back 12 of the railway wheel 10 and is releasably fastened to the wheel back 12 by means of fastening elements 6, for example magnets accommodated in the second leg 3.
[0044] On the base 4, which is guided over a wheel flange 13 of the railway wheel 10, a stop 7 is arranged, which is spaced from the base 4 and is brought into contact with a running surface 11 of the railway wheel 10.
[0045] The first leg 2 or an inner side of the first leg 2 of the measuring device 1 lies at a distance 17 from the outwardly facing front end face 16 of the running surface 11 of the railway wheel 10 in front of the end face 16.
[0046] The first leg 2 has a readable scale 9. Furthermore, a slide 5 is arranged on the first leg 2 and is designed to be displaceable along the first leg 2. The slide 5 has a locking element 8 for engaging in a wear groove 14 of the railway wheel 10. The slide 5 is displaced along the first leg 2 until it is locked in the wear groove 14. A measured value representing the diameter of the railway wheel can then be read off the scale 9. Here, this is done at an upper edge of the slide 5. Alternatively, the slide is slotted, and the slot displays the measured value. A distance between the wear groove 14 and the running surface 11 in the specified measuring circle plane is recorded.
[0047] The slider 5 can also be attached to the front side 16 using magnets. The magnets in the slider 5 and on the second leg 3 hold the measuring device 1 in position. The selection of the support points ensures that the geometric alignment is correct.
[0048] At least the part of a wheel rim 20 above the wear groove 14 is accommodated in the measuring device 1 between the legs 2 and 3.
[0049] Distance 17, in particular, represents the maximum permissible dimension of an over-roll. In this case, the measuring device 1 acts as a gauge. If the over-roll is outside the tolerance, the yoke cannot be slid over the railway wheel 10 at this point. By assessing the distance between the over-roll and the first leg 2, the distance can be determined qualitatively or quantitatively using slider 5 or an additional, second slider (not shown).
[0050] Fig. 3 shows the measuring device 1 from the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 in detail. The yoke with the base 4 and the two legs 2 and 3 is particularly rigid, since greater flexibility would not be beneficial for the measurement.
[0051] At least two locking pins arranged on the slide 5 can now be seen as at least one locking element 8 for engaging in the wear groove 14 of the railway wheel 10. These locking pins are designed, in particular, to complement a profile of the wear groove 14 of the railway wheel 10. They are arranged offset from one another on the slide 5 in a plane perpendicular to the first leg 2 and point toward the second leg, wherein the distance between the locking pins is matched to the diameter of the wear groove 14. Magnets can be arranged below the locking pins.
[0052] At least one magnet is arranged on the second leg as a fastening element 6 in order to position the yoke on the wheel back of the railway wheel and to fasten it detachably.
[0053] Fig. Figure 4 now schematically shows a railway wheel 10 in partial section through a wheel rim 20 of the railway wheel 10. The wheel rim 20 is defined in the plane of the diameter of the railway wheel by a running surface 11, which is designed to roll on a rail. The running surface 11 is slightly inclined (conically profiled) to ensure self-centering sinusoidal running. On the inside, the wheel rim 20 has a flange 13, a vertical bead, for track guidance and to secure the running of the railway wheel on the rail and prevent it from running off.
[0054] On the side, the wheel rim 20 has a rear, inner side, the so-called wheel back 12. Opposite the wheel back 12 is an outward-facing end face of the railway wheel. Above a wear groove 14, the front, outward-facing end face 16 of the tread 11 of the railway wheel 10 is also referred to.
[0055] The running surface 11 is thus limited on the inner side by the wheel flange 13, which ends beyond a wheel flange crest in the wheel back 12, and on the outer side by the front end face 16. In between, the railway wheel or the wheel flange 20 has a width of 18.
[0056] The wear groove 14, also called the wear groove, is a marking machined into the front face of the railway wheel. It indicates a predetermined limit to which the railway wheel can be turned. It is machined into the railway wheel.
[0057] To measure or determine the diameter of a railway wheel, a measuring circle plane 22 is specified for each type. The distance between the running surface 11 in this measuring circle plane 22 and the wheel axle 24 is called the measuring circle diameter 23. In this measuring circle plane 22, the stop of the measuring device is placed on the running surface 11 of the railway wheel to record the measured value for the diameter of the railway wheel. The wear groove 14 also has a specified distance 26 from the running surface 11 in the measuring circle plane 22 for each type of railway wheel.
[0058] During operation of the railway wheel, wear can occur on the tread 11, for example, resulting in chipping. This can be remedied by turning the tread 11. In addition, a rollover 15 can occur, a bulge in the area of the outward-facing, front end 16 of the tread 11. A maximum permissible width 19 is specified for the rollover 15. In addition to the rollover 15, a bulge can also form in the area of the wheel flange crest, which is caused by wheel flange flank wear. This is called wheel flange crest rounding 21. A maximum permissible dimension can also be specified for the wheel flange crest rounding 21.
