Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method for mounting a door stay of a motor vehicle by means of at least one stay assembly which is pivotally connected to the stay assembly extending into the vehicle door through a door opening, wherein a door stay of the stay assembly is attached to a motor vehicle body by means of a screw connection in a screwing operation. The invention also relates to an assembly aid.

[0002] Series production in the automotive industry requires fast, simple assembly processes that are also minimized. To make the assembly process as efficient as possible, it is common practice to pre-assemble vehicle parts and then join them together in a final assembly process. Short assembly times combined with high assembly accuracy are essential to ensure high assembly quality. An example of this can be found in vehicle door assembly. Here, the vehicle door is pre-assembled, with at least one door stop protruding from the door opening. This stop, which incorporates a door drive in a known manner, is attached to a vehicle pillar, for example, by a retaining rod. An example of such a vehicle door can be found in German patent application DE 10 2004 061 787 A1.To simplify the assembly process, it is advantageous to connect the hold-open rod to the vehicle pillar using only one screw, which generally ensures sufficient stability, as the vehicle door is also held by hinges. However, it has been found that the hold-open rod can be twisted during the screwing process, which necessitates reworking the attached vehicle door or can even lead to damage to the door drive. Further examples of hold-open rods for vehicle doors can be found in the prior art according to DE 10 2015 114 870 A1, DE 20 2008 017 508 U1, and DE 10 2023 101 229 A1.

[0003] The object of the invention is therefore to provide a method for assembling a vehicle door that avoids the aforementioned disadvantage in a simple and cost-effective manner.

[0004] This problem is solved according to the invention by inserting an assembly aid encompassing the locking bar into the door opening before the screwing process and removing it again after the screwing process is completed. This prevents the locking bar from twisting in a particularly simple way.

[0005] The mounting aid is particularly advantageously installed in the door opening in a way that prevents rotation. This results in a particularly simple and reliable anti-rotation device. Alternatively, it can of course also be fixed in place using a tool.

[0006] The task is also solved by an assembly aid, wherein a housing part is provided that has at least a partial circumferential shape corresponding to the shape of the door opening, with a lateral opening for the form-fitting reception of the locking retaining rod. This makes the assembly aid particularly easy and quick to insert and remove during the screwing process.

[0007] Because the housing part has at least one stop element on its circumference to ensure a defined insertion depth into the door opening, the mounting aid can be inserted into the door opening particularly quickly and safely.

[0008] Advantageously, the housing part is made of plastic, thus preventing damage to the vehicle body.

[0009] The invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing, which shows: Fig. 1 a perspective view of an assembly aid according to the invention, and Fig. 2 a perspective view of a locking support bar extending into a door opening with the mounting aid made of Fig. 1.

[0010] Fig. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an assembly aid 2 according to the invention. The assembly aid 2 has a housing part 4 which, in the present embodiment, partially has a circumferential shape 6 that corresponds to the shape of a door opening. The door opening of a vehicle door 8 to be installed is in Fig. 2 concealed. The circumferential shape 6 essentially corresponds to an inverted "U". Two stop elements 10, 12 adjoin this longitudinally, as shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the mounting aid 2 rests against a corresponding recess 14 in the vehicle door 8. Looking further along its length, a retaining piece 16 connects to the two stop elements 10, 12, allowing the mounting aid 2 to be easily inserted into and removed from the door opening. A lateral opening 18 runs along the entire length of the mounting aid 2, providing a form-fitting receptacle for a locking retaining rod 20 (see Figure 2). Fig. 2) serves and consequently creates the U-shape. The entire housing part 4, and therefore also the assembly aid 2, is made of plastic.

[0011] Fig.Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the locking bar 20, which extends into the concealed door opening, in a mounting position. A door stop 22 of a locking assembly (not shown) is pivotably mounted on the locking bar 20 in a known manner. The door stop 22 is attached to a vehicle body by means of a screw connection using exactly one screw, which is inserted through an opening 24 in the door stop 22. To prevent the locking bar 20 from twisting and thus from damaging a drive mechanism of the locking assembly (not shown), the mounting aid 2 is inserted into the door opening to a defined insertion depth by means of the stop elements 10, 12.

[0012] A procedure for mounting the vehicle door 8 of a motor vehicle is now carried out as follows. Before the screwing process, the mounting aid 2, which encompasses the locking rod 20, is inserted into the door opening. Then the screwing process of the door stop 22 takes place, whereby the locking rod 20 is held in a rotationally secure position in the mounting aid 2. After completion of the screwing process, the mounting aid is removed. Reference symbol list 2 Assembly aid 4 Housing part 6. Circumference form 8 vehicle doors 10. Stop device 12.
