Abstract

Soft magnetic material, which is in sheet or foil form, wherein the soft magnetic material comprises: Iron, carbon, and nitrogen; and a carbon- and nitrogen-containing martensite and γ-Fe, wherein the γ-Fe contains a nitrogen-containing face-centered cubic crystal, wherein the soft magnetic material has a mean carbon concentration of 0.45% by mass or more and 1.12% by mass or less, and a mean nitrogen concentration of 0.4% by mass or more and 1.2% by mass or less, and wherein the soft magnetic material also comprises an additional element, wherein the additional element is vanadium or niobium and the amount of the additional element is less than 1 percent by mass.
