Description
[0001] The state of the art includes various methods for digital dental model production, but these often involve producing – or printing – significantly more than is actually necessary, in a very complex, cumbersome, and environmentally damaging way.
[0002] The purpose of the present invention is to print only what is required for the individual patient situation, but then to have the "components" required for further processing steps already available - in a reusable form.
[0003] According to the invention, this problem is solved by providing a base for the actual model, in which numerous raised parallel guides are provided. These guides incorporate minute undercuts into which the individual segments of the printed model can be detachably "snapped." Various mounting options for fixing the upper and lower jaw models, such as screws, magnets, or adhesive mounting combinations, are also provided.
[0004] The digital gear ring can be printed in such a way that it fits exactly to the various guide and locking elements, whereby it is helpful to leave some "air" in the print above the guide elements so that any contamination does not pose a problem.
