Description

[0001] A fly swatter is a useful and effective tool for controlling flying insects such as flies and mosquitoes. The fly swatter is primarily used to destroy insects with a targeted blow.

[0002] The disadvantage of conventional fly swatters is that the killed flying insects then stick to the wall or fall to the floor and have to be disposed of separately.

[0003] Therefore, a fly swatter with an integrated suction device is proposed.

[0004] This measure has the advantage that the insects killed with the fly swatter can then be vacuumed up directly, thus eliminating the need for time-consuming cleaning (disposal by hand).

[0005] This is made possible by an innovative design in which a flat, funnel-shaped suction device is located directly under the striking surface of the fly swatter.

[0006] The suction mechanism is powered by an electric vacuum pump located in the handle, which transports the sucked-in insects into a collection container, which is also located in the handle. At the end of the handle is a battery compartment containing batteries that power the electric vacuum pump. In detail, the proposed fly swatter looks like this:

[0007] An electric vacuum pump (3) and a battery compartment (14) for batteries are integrated into the handle (1) at its lower end. A button (2) is located outside the handle (1) that activates the vacuum pump (3) and thus the suction mechanism.

[0008] In the handle (1) above the vacuum pump (3) there is a chamber 4) into which a removable, transparent collection container (5) in the form of a capsule is integrated. The collection container (5) has an opening (6) at the top and bottom which serves as an air vent for the suction mechanism of the vacuum pump (3). The opening (6) is grilled on the underside. On the top there is an opening with a flap (7) which, when the vacuum is released, closes the collection container (5) again to prevent the sucked-in insect from falling out of the collection container (5). At the upper end of the handle (1) there is a flat funnel (9). This serves as the suction opening (12) for the insects.

[0009] At the upper end of the funnel (9) is the clapping surface (10), which is attached to a tube (11) that runs inside the funnel (9). The suction opening (12) of the flat funnel (9) is designed so that the insects it strikes fall directly down into the funnel (9), are sucked in there, and then transported to the catcher (5). The handle (1) has a viewing window (13) through which the sucked-in insects in the catcher (5) can be seen. To apply the proposed idea, proceed as follows:

[0010] While you swat the insect with the fly swatter's flapping surface (10), you simultaneously press the button (2) in the handle (1) to activate the vacuum pump (3), creating a strong suction of air at the intake opening (12). This then transports the killed insect into the transparent catcher (5) in the handle (1). The insect can now be inspected through the viewing window (13) in the handle (1). Once the catcher (5) is full, you remove it and open it using a screw thread (8) in the middle, allowing the insects to be emptied.

[0011] Since there is no direct contact with the dead insect, this device is significantly more hygienic than a conventional fly swatter. Another advantage is that the vacuum pump (3) is easy to operate, allowing the insect to be removed quickly and easily.

[0012] Overall, the proposed fly swatter with suction device (12) is a practical household appliance for combating annoying insects and offers a simple and effective solution.
